I've got the same problem. It'll let me sync media but not Outlook or IE stuff.
An update from the Mobile and Embedded Devices Team: The Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) Application is an independent application apart from Windows Vista. Windows Vista RC1 includes the WMDC driver which enables you to sync music, acquire pictures and browse the contents of your device. The full WMDC application enables you to synchronize email, contacts, calendar appointments and more. The RC version of WMDC for Vista RC1 will ship very soon, while at this time WMDC is only available for Vista Beta 2.

I have a Windows Mobile 5 based device and I use activeSync 4.2 with Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003. I would like my work-contatcs and my work-appintments on my work-PC also show up on my mobile but I DO NOT want my private appointments and my private contacts of my mobile (that get snyched from my private PC) show up on my work-PC. So is there a way to force active synch when connected to my work-PC to only synchronize work contacts and appointments ?
Of course. You can Clickon the "Options"-Button in AS-Configuration-Dialog and you can tell AS, which categories shall be synced.
I have just installed Outlook 2007 on a new laptop and it is working fine. I have established a sync connection between my Polaris (WM 6.0) and the laptop using Windows Mobile Device Center. However, appointments do not carry into Calendar in Outlook. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hi. Long title but I am sure you know what I want to know. Is there any way how to sync Windows Mobile 6.1 calendar with Microsoft Works Calendar 9.0 (or different version)?
Reason: I have notebook with Win7 and pre-installed Microsoft Works Suite. And installing e-mail client (microsoft office outlook) is waisting of space because I dont use email client.
If not, is possible to sync with Windows Live Calendar (using Live Mail client).
Thanks
I've been reading many thread regarding Outlook 10 x64 not being ale to sync.
And I can't find a single solution...
I use Windows 7 with Office 10 64 bit and an HTC Pro Touch 2.
Do you guys know of any Good sync software that would work, or is there now a workaround?
I have the same problem. Now i sync direct to our exchange server.
x64 version is having problems with ActiveSync process, you must use x32 one.
WRONG FORUM THOUGH!
Moving to general!

Any news?
Hey, do you have any news regarding this topic? Have anyone discovered a possibility how to sync a WM device with Outlook x64?
32bit, 64bit
It doesn't matter if you have Windows 7 32bit or 64bit. What is important, is which bit version you have on your Outlook.
Outlook 2010 32bit is supported by WM Device Center and HTC Sync v.3.0.5422.
Outlook 2010 64bit is not.
The error message you got if you have Outlook 2010 x64 is:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail
client."
That means: Current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request (It's not 32bit).
So, if you have Windows 7 x64 with Outlook x86, HTC Sync works.
Quote from Microsoft technet site (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681792.aspx)
"Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) synchronization, WMDC does not synchronize with Microsoft Outlook 2010 if you use the 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. In such cases, an error message displays that states that there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging. WMDC synchronizes correctly with the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010. To synchronize a Windows Phone with Outlook 2010 by using Windows Mobile Device Center, uninstall Outlook 2010 64-bit. Then use the original installer that you used to obtain Outlook 2010 64-bit to install Outlook 2010 32-bit. Outlook 2010 32-bit is the default option."
