So how many of you out there would like to see a widget of the most current topics on your favorite XDA forum? What if I told you the app exists and is already out there. Well you can by simply using the ap Widget Boards by Honcheng! Just put the URL of your favorite XDA forum and boom! I can stay up to date on all of the latest threads right from my home screen. Check it out guys!
I'm pretty sure there's an RSS widget/app... If there's a RSS feed for the forum/section you want then it should be possible.

Hi, i just started using a RSS reader app on my Touch Pro. I was adding my favorite windows mobile sites, when i hit a bump in the road. I couldn't find the rss url for the software forum on here. I only found one that gave a feed of some random posts. If someone can clear this up for me, it'd be great. thanks.
Do we have an Android widget that will update single threads on my N1 so that I can keep up with what is happening here?
Yes, I searched.
Thanks!

Ask yourself if you REALLY want to scroll through over 1,000 new comments per day?!
At the rate new information is shared, discussed, commented, debated, etc.
I wouldn't be interested in a widget such as this.
I'm no developer, but I don't think it would be difficult, as I think it's likely that such a widget would pull RSS feeds.
Actually, the ability to track single threads as dsnyder586 said would be kind of nice. For instance, there is currently a thread about the N1 problem where the music player begins playing on its own. It would be convenient to have instant access to that thread as developments are made.
@xombe
True, it would be TRULY useful to follow a thread, but viewing the source of this thread shows this RSS feed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=560
which leads to this sub-forum:
xda-developers > Nexus One > Nexus One Themes and Apps
It seems that only sub-forums have their own RSS feed.

Android&Me has their own widget, available in the Market, maybe it can be 'disassembled' and made to read some other RSS feed?

I thought today about all the forums I use. I use a lot as I am sure most of you do. Most forums tend to be built the same way, threads, reply buttons, quote buttons etc etc.
Would it be possible to create an app whereby a forum was condensed onto your phone? No need to use a web browser and have to constantly zoom in and out and mess around with too much directional scrolling. You see I was using twitter on my HD2 today and I just thought that a forum set out like the twitter boxes with all the individual tweets would be pretty cool. Click on your thread and browse with various text size options etc.
The initial screen of the app would have a box to enter the URL of your desired forum and also a list of saved forums or favourites.
Could this be possible?
Thanks.
i like the idea, sounds really good....not sure if it would work though......
+1 for this.
+1 Me too .. it will be Great tool !!
I thought there was already an XDA app. I know there is one for Android.
Yeah; I too would like to see a WinMo app for this.
glad you all agree, we just need someone to dev it!
There is one, but it doesnt fully work. Ill see if i can find it
That was easy using search http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540504
Hey Im not sure what to do because its not an official RSS feed thingy, but i basically want to get the news titles of *Edit not allowed links* fed to my Nexus, and into a widget on my home, i also found this which seems to be what i want, but i have no idea how to do this on my phone!
*edit not allowed links*
So to summarize, i just want a simple widget updating with that links posts or 'feeds' thanks guys
Lol so because im not allowed links ill describe it, its a news websites that do storys throughout the day and theyre posted as sort of blog updates onto the site, and within firefox i can access the url with '/feed' added to the end and that also displays the posts titles in the feed. I tried putting the url into an RSS app but it wasnt working
you can install XDA apps
or you can link to the news Feeds using http://www.xda-developers.com/ in RSS
Maybe a stupid question but I cannot find the way to display a printable version of a thread or the Print thread button.
Is this possible on the forum?

Bump.
Well you can first convert the thread into a PDF file.. then you can easily print it..
Here, use any of the following websites to convert the webpage into a PDF file.. there must be some software(s) available for this too but first give any of those websites a try...

That is not what we (at least I) ask for. There used to be and is in other forums an option to display the thread with less graphics and other things and more posts per page - so that the PDF is not bloated, but almost "text only". That is what I miss and what I think to remember was possible in this forum earlier.
Regards,
Jan

Aha.. I just found out how to do that too!
Scroll down and switch to XDA 2010 theme... Now after the page reloads, see under Thread Tools and click on Show Printable Version.. Hope this helps you
(PS: To revert, just change back to the new XDA theme)

Awesome! I've been searching for that print button and thought I was losing my mind. Thanks for finding the fix
