[APP] Folder Size Mobile (updated 16.12.2009) - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Here is a small application I wrote, because i needed to see where my free space goes.
How it works:
1. start application
2. press "scan now". Scanning takes some time (30-60 sec)
3. see which folders take too much space
4. "right click" on selected folder gives options to delete files or delete the whole folder. Be sure to select the right folder before use delete!!!
Requirements:
.net Compact framework 3.5
1.1 changes
- delete option reworked
- added option to skip storage card scan (menu -> settings). Because I could not find working code to detect storage card folder it's hardcoded as "storage card". Because name maybe differ in some roms/languages, name may be overridden in registry: HKLM\Software\FoldersizeMobile, add a new string key = "StorageCardName", value = name of the folder

Nice app. Works good.
An option to exclude directories (Storage Card) would be nice.
Thank you

v1.1 released
- Suggestion from previous post implemented
- added option to delete only files in folder

There is already an freeapp for it Mtreesize

Solution! How to fix wmediaplayer if it won't open files on SD card?!

hey all,
i recently had some problems with my media player,
it woudn't open any songs that were located on my SD card, and if i updated my library it said it found files, but after it completed adding, it only added files from main memory.
well, i found out this works:
On the storage card, delete the following file Storage Card\MSMETADATA\XMEMediaLibrary.mlb You may have to tap & hold in the File Manager window on a blank area and choose "Show All Files" in order to see this folder. If this XMEMedialibrary.mlb isnt in that folder, just delete the whole folder, that worked for me. Also delete the file: Mobile Device\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\XMEMediaLibrary.mlb
i hope this will help other users, cause it really was a pain in the (...),

Mobile GMaps on HTC HD2 (Offline mode)

Be embraced with your big baby!
I have been spending days diving around the Google to search for useful offline map applications for my BigB (HTC HD2), which comes really handy when you are on trip to overseas.
(Especially for desperate traveler like me!!)
*Finally* I managed to install one good offline map app (Google Map based!!) with GPS function enabled!
OK, let me go through the setup process before talking too much about my tears & blood of how I've got it:
[BIG Tip] It is recommended to install "MyMobiler" into your PC & HD2, so that you can use PC to control your phone remotely, save much efforts!!
**Credit to William
1) On your PC, goto "mapcacher" home page and cache the map area you want. (Tip1)(Ref1)
2) Locate the area you want to cache, then use LEFT-CLICK to place markers around the area on the map and define the zoom level. (Tip2)
3) Click "Generate" button and same the file into your HDD
4) Download gMapMaker and install into your PC (Ref2)(File1)
5) "Cache Folder": Choose the location where you want the exported maps be saved
"Max Parallel Downloads", "Hash Size" & "Tiles per file": not sure what these are but done as recommended
6) Click "Go" button and specify the .map cached in Step-3, and let it download the offline data
7) Rename the folder "MGMapsCache" to more readable one, e.g. "London", "Tokyo", "Hong Kong", etc.
8) Copy the renamed folder in Step-7 to your SD Card (Tip3)
9) Download Myriad, copy to SD Card and install on your HD2 (Tip4)(File2)
10) Download and copy mgmaps.jar into SD Card (v1.39.21 [jar]) (Ref3)(File3)
11) In File Explorer on HD2, click the JAR file in Step-10 to install
12) When installation completed, the "MGMaps" application short cut will be placed in Start\. Click the "MGMaps" icon to launch the app.
13) It will ask you many permission settings:
- Allow Local information permission
- [Optional] Not allow for HTTP access
14) Finally, when it finished asking you for permissions, you will see a map with no data (if you didn't allow for HTTP access). Click he menu button on the lower-left side, click Settings->Map Browsing
15) Check the options "Stored Maps" & "Offline Mode", and click "Browse..." to locate the map you saved in Step-8
16) Click "Menu"->"Save" to save the setting, go back to the app top and click the lower-left button again, click "Exit"
17) Repeat Step-12~13 again, then you will be able to see the offline map. (Tip5)(Screen1)
18) [Optional] Exit the MGMap app, goto HD2's "Settings"->"Other"->"Java", click "Menu.."->"Actions"->"Security", and set the permission settings to "Session only" etc.
19) Copy and *backup* the file selector.utf from HD2's \Windows\AppDB\ to your PC (Tip6)
20) Download HEX Edit and unzip into your PC (File4)
21) Open HEX Edit application, open file selector.utf copied in Step-19, change the value "domain=midp1" to "domain=tckmax " (3 trailing spaces) (Screen1)
22) Save the file and copy it back to HD's \Windows\AppDB\
23) Download policy.utf and copy to HD's \Application Data\JavaDB\ (need to create these folder) (Ref4)(File4)
24) Launch MGMaps from HD2's Start\ again, hola! no loonger asking for permissions while you can browse the offline maps
25) Goto somewhere open space where you can see the sky ^^, click MGMaps lower-left button->"GPS"->"Where am I?" (Tip7)
26) Congratulations!! You did it! (Screen2)
Tips:
1) For first try, it is recommended to cache the area you actually are and later you can test the GPS out right away.
2) Don't try to cache a very large area in the first shot (or later you will find you are spending much of your time in exporting the offline map), just locate where you are and then set the zoom level to 13~19.
3) For better arrangement of maps (surely you will export more maps of other areas later), create a root folder called "Map", then place the folder in Step-7 under it.
4) If you stick to JBlend shipped with your HD2, then you will not be able to browse offline map data, only the online ones which is no difference than Google Map app.
I have tried JBed3DMod at first, screen whiteout when the MGMaps launched on it.
I have also tried Esmertec Jbed, with versions:
"20090217 5.1 R2": MGMaps can be launched, but *always* ask for permissions (Access to location info, internet, local user files, etc.)
"20090507 2.1": Same as "20090217 5.1 R2", plus font size for buttons are way too small for tapping with bare finger!
5) If you are not able to see the map, properly the default GPS location is far from your map. You can search the GPS data for your location from the Internet, then input "Latitude" & "Longitude" data into MGMaps by clicking lower-left button->"Favorites"->"Menu.."->"Edit"
6) HD's File Explorer and PC's File Browser cannot view HD2's folder \Windows\, you are recommended to use 3rd party's file browsing too for this operation, e.g. Resco File Explorer
7) There would be Error message saying your GPS is not available, just ignore it and go back to the MGMaps top. Click lower-left button->"GPS"->"Show Compass", and if you see location data on top then that means the GPS is working. You may then click lower-left button->"Back to Map", and you will see the lovely Google Map blue marker on the map.

I have been installing Mapking but the map quality was way too bad, so I really do recommend this app!
I am sorry for lacking of reference links because I was too desperate during the trial and error process, with my Google Chrome packed with 20+ tabs.
Thank you very much for creating such a beatiful app for us!
Enjoy!!
Or just use NaviComputer!
Waw ..what a great effort!!
Thank you ..!
What about Open Mobile Maps with the replaced maps.xml file so you have 8 sources of maps. When you`re browsing online the maps, the cache builds up and never empties, so you build up maps for offline browsing.
hi, i have downloaded mgmaps in my hd2 as per the first email. i am able to view and browse through the maps. however the problem is that everytime i zoom in or move the map just slightly it asks:
"Untrusted application mobile GMaps wants to read data located on this device or removable media attached to this device. Do you allow read user data?"
the above message appears several times consecutively before i am able to see the map.
How to resolve this issue?? would appreciate any help from the experts.
Rgds.
Please read carefully file -- instructions.txt.
I have followed all instructions as is written in that file and Mgmaps no loonger asking for permissions.
there are steps for security (take attention on step Nr. 21- don't forget 3 traling spaces) :
Good luck
What is myriad???
Hi,
What is myriad? moreover I am unable to have a quick link of mgmaps in my start menu

Android folder ico file

Okay, so basically, when you start backing up cwm boot files, custom ROMs, and cwm backups on the pc (or SD card, this works on a cwm bootable sd too), I've always found it convenient to group all these folders and files into a library. But, when you create a library, there is a default picture that you can't change. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix that. What I do have, however, is an icon file for the <C:\Users\[Your Username]\My Android> folder, which you should probably create and add to the library then drop all your android-related files into there (if you choose to go the library route, though I would suggest this as all that stuff everywhere can get to be quite a mess).
The file is a batch png to ico converted *.ico file, and includes the following sizes: 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 128x128, and 256x256, the 8x8 and 16x16 look *really* crappy and are almost too tiny to be visible, but that should be expected, and the 256x256 look blurry, though still decent. As with all batch icon files, the size should adjust automatically according to your icon size setting is.
Instructions:
1.) Download the *.ico file, and move it from [your download location] to <C:\Windows\System32>, so you never have to see or bother with it
again once you're done.
2.) Navigate to <C:\Users\[Your Username]\My Android>. If it doesn't exist, create it then add it to the "Android" library.
3.) Right Click
4.) Select "Properties"
5.) Click on "Customize" tab
6.) Under "Folder icons", select "Change Icon..."
7.) Click "Browse...", and navigate to the *.ico file you just downloaded in the <C:\Windows\System32> directory. It should be one of the only
ones there.
8.) Once the icon file is selected, click "OK"
9.) The selection window should close automatically. Click "Apply" on the Properties window, then close it.
10.) Add The folder to your currently empty library.
11.) If anyone figures out or knows how to change a library icon, please include that in a comment and I will copy and paste it into this post
(this forum has an edit feature, right?) and credit your username at the bottom.
*Please do not remove this post because it's nooby or pointless cosmetics not related directly to android development, I already know that. If it's in the wrong thread, which I'm not entirely sure of since this is my first time posting here, please move it. Since a mod is usually the only usergroup that can delete threads, I'm assuming that if you're reading and considering deleting this thread then you also have the ability to move it.*

Thanks, don't forget to give us your feedback
Clearer UI, practical features
I've installed the App on my phone, here's my feedback:
1. UI
The new version does improve a lot in UI: the fresh color impresses me, comparing with ES, Solid, Astro's rigid layouts... I believe the fresh style suits me better.
2. Recycle Bin
The feature is pretty practical for Android file management. I sometimes remove files by mistake on my phone and cannot do anything to recover them. It makes me feel like I am using Windows laptop!
3. Safebox
An in-build file safebox will be easier to use when you organize files on the phone; you can copy or move them to Cloud or safebox, double insurance!
4. Suggestion
File category is more frequently-used than advanced features, I suggest you highlight this part instead of advanced features.
When I try to add account to Google Drive, the App is forced to close(My phone is Xiaomi 2S). Please fix it ASAP.
Thank you for such a good-looking and helpful App!
great app
Awesome feature's, but little laggy not that much smooth.. I am using mi3 . and add cleaner app inside like apk remover cache remover etc..
Ui is excellent ,but when we swipe upward then menu bar is hiding , please fix that

I like the interface
Unlike grey, blue and other dark colors, File Expert takes a bold attempt in interface designing. Personally, I like the bright color blending.
As for the features, it meets my needs!

Unsmooth scroll!
Hi developer,
Here's my bug report:
1. The scroll is not smooth enough and the top bar will conceal when I swipe upward.
2. What's more, all operation seems slower than the previous, could it load faster?
Looking forward to your update!

Galaxy S7 Sd Card Sync and Media Re-scan

I found it so annoying that Samsung doesn't give us an option to save Screenshots and Burst Shots to the SD Card, So I've been trying to find a way to automatically transfer them on a daily basis. I found by simply moving everything over, it messes up Gallery and so I had to find a way to force a media re-scan. I've searched for days to figure out how to do this and I think I finally came up with an acceptable solution. I figured I'd share it with you guys with hopes that it'll save someone else the headaches it caused me.
I have a non-Rooted Galaxy S7 running 6.01 with a 64Gig U3 card. I created a Task to automatically transfer everything over to the SD card when I place the phone on my charger at the end of the day. Here's how I did it.
First I Installed the following from the Play Store:
-Tasker
-FolderSync
#Make sure you go through the setup wizard to grant read/write access to the sd card
-ScanMediaPlease
I paid for both Tasker and FolderSync.. In my opinion, well worth the couple bucks. These are insanely powerful tools. ScanMediaPlease is free.
In FolderSync I setup a Folderpair for the Camera and Screenshot folders.
Unique name: Screenshots
Account: SD CARD
Sync type: To remote folder
Remote Folder: /storage/XXXX-XXXX/DCIM/Screenshots/ #Replace XXXX-XXXX with your SD Card's mount point
Local Folder: /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Screenshots/
Under Sync options, Enable "Delete files after sync"
Under Advanced Disable "Use temp-file scheme"
Adjust any other settings to suite your needs.
I created another Folderpair the same as above for the Camera folder.
I then created a profile in Tasker.
-State > Power > Power (Source "Any")
I linked it to a Task and name it "Connected". In that task I have the following:
-Plugin > Folder Sync (sync all)
-Task > Wait (5 Minutes)
#I have this to allow enough time for Folder Sync to complete before performing a Media Re-Scan. You may need to adjust this depending on the speed of your sd card and amount of screenshots / Bursts you take between charges. (My device transferred 1100 photos @ 2.45gigs in 2m30s to give you an idea)
-File > Delete Directory (Dir DCIM/.thumbnails recursive)
#It seems to me that the .thumbnails folder is a complete waste of space. This folder can grow to ridiculous sizes over time and Gallery works just fine without it. So i added this delete command to clean it up.
-File > Create Directory (Dir DCIM/.thumbnails)
-App > Launch App (App ScanMediaPlz)
That's it!
Now every time I place my phone on my charger, all my Screenshots and Burst Shots get moved to the DCIM folder on the SD Card. The thumbnail folder gets wiped clean and all media gets re-scanned. I open Gallery after and all my photos are organized properly.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
