12/18/09 Update
Here is my most recent version of the updated MoDaCo rom. I have fixed the version display info.
This rom should be safe to upgrade from stock or MoDaCo 1.1 roms.
If you experience force closures the issue is with your dalvik-cache or your boot-cache.
You can clear your dalvik cache from the recovery mode. Do not do a factory wipe. Choose the dalvik-cache wipe/clear.
You can clear your boot-cache from adb as a temporary fix by typing:
rm -r /data/boot-cache
reboot

Just flashed from 1.1, getting a bunch of force close messages on boot can't use internet, software version 1.29 so no update, don't know if I should've flashed from stock but thought id try from 1.1.

I'll look into it later right now I need sleep. FYI I updated from a stock patched Rom freshly rooted. You may need to do a wipe for it to work properly. Also i hand copied the individual patched files into the modaco 1.1 to make this work. I am new to this so I do not know how to update the version # by hand editing yet.

i would also like to know if you can play media via bluetooth speakers on this ROM...all ROMs w/ the MR update don't seem to be able to do it, but the Sprint MR update w/ no custom ROM installed can

I got a bunch of force closes when it booted up. I also noticed the browser and some google apps will no longer open and just force close.

Works fine for me. I did revert back to stock before doing the update and reset my data to be sure.
The build number in the "about" screen is the old number, but things do seem to be updated to the new stuff anyway. To change the build number, I think you need to edit the /system/build.prop file.

My force closures have healed themselves! Well, except for the "market" app but I bet I can uninstall/reinstall it.
Obelisk, hopefully this description of my steps helps in finding some answers...
Last night, before I saw obelisk's first few posts regarding his experiment, I had decided to bite the bullet and flash back to the stock Sprint RUU.
First I copied all of my app and app-private folders to my SD card. Then, I did a nandroid backup and then flashed the RUU. I let Sprint download and install the MR. Then I rooted and flashed the recovery image. This is when I found obelisk's posts and decided to try it out. After I flashed his "unofficial" update I booted up and then rebooted (it stated "reboot required" in the menu\settings\about phone\build number after "MoDaCo Custom ROM"). At that point everything was working fine. No force closures, phone was sleeping correctly, I had mute and speaker phone buttons in the call screen, etc...
I decided to copy my apps back, restore my nandroid backup (even though I knew this would undo everything I had just done) and then reflash obelisk's updated modaco again. After doing that I rebooted and got a ton of force close errors. I just closed them all and went to bed!
HERE"S THE WEIRD PART! I woke up this morning and the only force close I'm getting now is with the market app (and ONLY if I try to open it). All my other restored apps are working fine. I am about to go to work but I will play around with this some more. I'm keeping it for now!

I just rebooted and all of the force close errors came back. I guess I'm going to go back to my original pre-MR nandroid backup.

i think the problem is related to the software version number which i haven't figured out how to update yet, so a lot of the apps, and yes there were about 20, that were patched in the maintenance release don't get updated properly until i increment the rom version somehow. i'll mess with it tonight when i get home from work.

did a fresh ruu, and updated this custom rom over a rooted stock, did a factory reset after the install and absolutely no issues.... A+ job buddy

How do you go about doing a fresh ruu?

I'm going off of memory here but...
1. download the sprint RUU
2. install HTC Sync on your pc if you have not already done so
3. connect your phone to your computer
4. run RUU (it's an executable file)
5. Follow prompts
6. Reboot phone into stock un-rooted goodness/badness depending on your opinion.

Is your battery fully (or at least mostly) charged?
EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed that's a different error.

Great Rom
I came from a rooted stock Rom wither the Mr update...wiped, flashed...apps2sd, then reboot. Worked flawlessly! I also added the extras from another Rom and everything is running fine. Great work on this..

are you getting error code 107 or 170? google provides no help for error code 107...

[Q] Market not working: "Download failed", tried everything.

I know that there are tons of threads about this but none of them have helped. My market just will not work. It shows it downloading, then displays the message "Download failed" for a split second and disappears.
I have an HTC Desire (BravoC/CDMA) with the latest version of CyanogenMod 7 Nightly and ClockworkMod 2.5.0.9 for recovery. I also have Firerat's Custom MTD Partition. Details and links to all these can be found in my signature.
I feel like I've tried everything. Uninstall updates, Installed latest GApps, Installed old versions of GApps, Installed leaked versions of Gapps, cleared cache, formatted device.
This has been happening since the new market website was released. It really sucks, I can't update any apps or download any new apps.
If anyone can offer any help or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Try removing SD card then try again. I had the same problem with my galaxy s I removed SD card backup on PC then I formatted it put it back in and market works perfect, don't ask me why but this worked for me

a little weird thing i noticed is,if i have checked the box that allows applications to be download to the external(Apps2sd) whatever i try to download, will be resulted with Unsuccessful. When i unchecked it, my downloads were successful.
See if you have it checked.

I discovered that it was a problem with the CSC file. I had exactly the same issue with a 'mixed up' firmware. Download would not work at all from the market. Anyhow, I flashed the phone (galaxy s) with a different CSC file and the market started downloading.
the only thing I had changed was that file.
So u may want to consider that Hope this helps.

I think there is also a possibility of going to applications --> market, and then stop & clear data.

re-flash the rom and market won't download anything.
But it's strange that I can install apps from web market.

i know i'm at the wrong thread but could somebody help me pls with sgs gingerbread im stuck at on command where it is saying that busybox is not a valid command and thats its not recognized

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, after some time I have discovered what was causing the market issue. It was the Firerat Custom MTD Partition Mod the whole time. Apparently the new version of the market deals with downloads a little differently now and doesn't get along with Firerat's mod.
So now the waiting game begins for a new update from Firerat.

NOt a solution, but I found a workaround for this issue on my phone.
I am using Hyperdroid GBX V8 on my HTC HD2 now. From last 2 days I was struggling with this problem. I tried all solutions I found with google. Clearning everything and Reflashing, clearing the market and caches for other apps, reflashing, unmount/mount SDCARD and so on, smaller bigger recovery partition, without EXT3/4 partition.
Still the problem exist on the phone. But I found a workaround. Logon to market.android.com using your google id and password, select the app you want to install and click install. if your phone is up and live, it will be installed in a few seconds.
In other words, pull doesnt work, but push works .

Market not downloading

Hey guys long time lurked, so here is my issue.
I was changing Rom, I had bamf remix 1.4, and I wanted to try another Rom. So backed up my current Rom through cwm, downloaded tesla coil 1.5 so I did wipe and installed tesla. Everything seemed fine, now this Rom does auto recover through Google, and I saw all my apps start to download after I put my account info, so I let it do its thing and it managed to get some apps installed. Then the rest of them just got stuck at "starting download", I've seen it do that before so I usually just cancel the download an try them later 1 by 1. So when I tried to load Rom manager it would go again to starting download but, then would get a notification saying, "Download Error, Download unsuccessful, please try again".
So that's what's going on, I restored my previous back up and it is still doing the same thing. I've wiped and cleared cache . Tried virus Rom and its the same thing . The only way I can get apps through the market is if I push it through a pc on a web browser.
I have searched already, and tried clearing data on market and download manager.

My phone is currently experiencing the same issue, only with all apps. I can download apps perfectly from the browser based market though. I've searched for a good six hours and I've tried everything that has been commonly suggested and nothing's worked.

Menu>settings>applications>manage applicctions > all tab > look For market> clear defaults, clear cache etc. Clear everything. Then try to download again in the marrket.

Well I think there was a fluke with Google or something, I wiped and flashed again and now its working again. When I was still investigating the problem, I used log cat to see what was going on, and the error was an apiexception and it had http 503 error, which I believe means the link is forbidden. This all happened when I flashed tesla Rom and it was auto restoring all my apps at the same time, and I think Google blocked my account or something because of too many download requests. Looks like the block was only for 24 hours. Sorry for rambling

Download Was Unsuccessful

After the RUU update Rooted. I am having this appear every time i try to download an app. Download Was Unsuccessful Please Try again. Is anyone else having this issue?

It just magically started working. go figure.

I tried what you recommended, and i fixed permissions using rom manager, and plus i restarted and i tried installing them again,

is there a way to get all of the htc widgets in a package for HTC Thunderbolt so i can manually install them myself using a move command or something via file manager?

Weird, I know I had this issue and I just flashed a rom to fix it. Did you try using plain jane?

nope, Im going to just try and find the a HTC widget pack...
when i download the HTC widget i want, IT downloads, but right afterwards just won't install like it just fades away..
If anyone can give detail instructions how to install HTC widget pack manually using a "move command" or some way to install it Let me know

Usually Fixing Permissions solves this issue. Try google for an APK for the file you want to install, see if that works.

actually,fixing permissions started back in the day to fix issues with AOSP roms and is not really reccomended for sense roms. running it may be doing more harm than good.
id try wiping cache/dalvik cache and reflashing the rom your running. not doing a data wipe will preserve your settings and data. if that doesnt help,then id try a completely fresh install(wipe data/dalvik/cache)
and if youre using rom manager,try it in recovery instead. rom manager is problematic aND unreliable,IMO.

I posted a topic about this about a week ago after installing MR2. There is an issue with Google recognizing and updating your info that is in some way related to the 4G SIM.
I kid you not....this is how to fix it...... It has happened to me twice the last week as I got an AE.
1. Wait. No matter what I did, it seemed to never "Come back" until about 48 hrs.
2. Clear the Market cache and data
3. Stop the market service
4. Sing into and out of Google talk like you are on OCD.
Pissed the second day I had this happened, I was sitting at a bar listening to some girl go on and on about something so I started signing in and out of Google talk like 14 - 16 times....... Opened the market...no problem!
For "Must have apps, go to the online market place via your computer and push them to your phone. That always worked for me no matter what. Good luck!

[Q] Google Talk issue since Synergy r169 (jan 10)

Hey folks! After years of using xda as a resource tinkering with my OG Droid back in the day, I've finally joined the community.
As it turns out, I flashed the latest release of Synergy on my Verizon GS3, and I love it. However, since doing that I cannot log into Google Talk. It acts as if it's logging in and then my name remains grey, my chat contacts don't appear, and I'm stuck with nothing
When I flashed Synergy I wiped cache, dalvik cache, it was a clean install. The app appears to be working in every way except for logging in, it doesn't even give the error that it cannot connect with the server. Also, I've tried wiping the data from the app, nothing. I unregistered my google account from the phone then added it back, and nothing changed.
Any ideas?

Usually happens when you flash a modded version of Talk. Once you delete parts of it it won't flash. Reflash the rom with no mods then install any Talk as a data/app by clicking on it. Whatever app is in data/app will override the one in system app.

This led me to the solution. Thanks! Turns out my titanium backup messed with the gapps bundled with the rom. Had to start over fresh, so here I am with a seemingly brand new device.
