HTC magic from vodafone - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

i bought a htc magic from vodafone but there is 2 many problems:
1-my firmware is 1.5.
2-i don't have android market !...i have a slide me !
how i can unlock it 2 download a good rom , how i can have a backup 4 my current rom?

if you bought it new and it had slide me, your area probably doesn't have the android market support.
the best way is to root your phone and flash cyanogen. look around the forum.
maybe flashing cyanogen will get you the market. when i flashed it i got the market and slide me and both work (I'm in the US)

maybe i'll search in the form
thx 4 answer

HTC Hero ROM upgrade & Android update

Hi everyone!
I am new on this forum...
I asked this question on lot of other forums, and they told me to visit this forum,so you can answer me to this questions:
I own HTC Hero ( but in T-Mobile they call it T-Mobile G2 Touch )
First, I go to this site : http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=671&news_id=254
and then I try to enter serial number,so I can download the file...
But when I tried, I see this note : Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
I read, that note is showing because I bought mobile phone in T-Mobile, and they call it T-Mobile G2 Touch , and serial number is different than HTC Hero ( but the specifications are same, they are exactly the same... )
Than I find this site : http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS&tab=2
and I download the file "October 2009: ROM Upgrade for G2 Touch"
,but when I attempted to install it, I saw that the version of ROM in my mobile is newest than the installer offered to me...So I cancel the installation.
After that,I find this site : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683
and theere is explained how to : Create a GoldCard - Bypassing the RUU/SPL CID check to Root/Downgrade
,but I don't know can I do that,I am afraid that my mobile will be corrupted...
So,please, can you answer on this questions :
1. How can I upgrade ROM on my HTC HERO ( ie T-Mobile G2 Touch )
2. How can I update Android to newest version on HTC Hero?
Thanks very much!
The update will be rreleased OTA so you dont need to do all that extra stuff.

I have a HD2 from T-Mobile UK, for some reason I couldn't flash an offical ROM to the phone so I just used a goldcard (found from search) and the new ROM works fine. No problems at all.

The default version of Opera on this version of the device is 9.7 which doesnt directly support the latest version of flash (they are ways to enable to to view older flash content however). For full flash support, Skyfire is probably your best bet,
As for roms, chances are that you have ROM version 1.43. to checko this, go to the settings tab on the Sense home screen -> About phone -> Software information. Check the ROM develoment section for other official ROMs.
The HD2 I got from T-Mobile lasted all of 2-3 hours before I put a custom ROM on. The fixOperaFlash tool should work with Opera 9.7. I've not tried it on my HD2 yet but it worked well on my Touch Pro.
how did you manage to keep all t-mobile settings right (mms internet etc ) after flashing custom rom? Which rom did you go for?
I recently flashed my tmob uk hd2 - so far i have found the miri ROM works best for me. As for internet settings and such the phone practically does it on its own
One thing i will say, I could not access internet using the Eugina rom (might have been specific to my phone)
i,ve got in t-mobile htc hd 2
its better to download sky fire that is perfect for flash player.. but only works well with wifi....
Ive also got the Tmobile HD2. Came with version 1.48.405.1 (71294) WWE ROM
Works fine.
Rom?
I went about upgrading my rom yesterday and visited htc site for the latest htc hd2 rom update. When i went to download their rom update release I had to type in my s/n . It said that this rom update is not suitable for my hand-set. I have the 1.43.110.2 (70315) WWE version ROM. Does this mean It is the same version? I have had my hd2 for over 2 months.
The ROM on the T-mobile UK phones seems to be T-mobile specific, especially if you put your serial number. I flashed my phone within 4 days of getting my phone. Currently using Artemis ROM. Be brave - take the plunge.READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! THEN FOLLOW THEM ONE BY ONE! Good luck, Brave Lion!
Yep. I got mines on T mobile since day 1. Originally flashed it using the goldcard method but have now HSPL'd it and am currently using "topix" ROM ver. 1.1.7
I'me very happy with this ROM and I've tried a few others but I keep coming back to "topix"
If anyone has good experience with any other ROM I'd be interested to hear

I completely agree with you the ROM on the HTC website is for unbranded HTC HD2 phones. There are plenty of custom ROMS and tweaks out there to suit your needs. My favourites are Tom's and Dutty's.

Wrong thread, should post in ROM section.
You have a branded phone, these are official ROMS for unbranded phones, wayt till TM provides theire new ROM based on an official HTC ROM.
Or HSPL your phone (void warranty) and flash away
Had the same problem and flashed the latest ROM using SSPL. It was quite painless and the HD2 works fine. Do a search for SSPL or HSPL in this forum and all will be explained.
good luck
Why is it necessary to download the new rpm. I have the same problem. Just curious. My phone seems to be working nicely.
Use the below link to get the ROM and then grab a Goldcard and put the ROM on. Or you can follow the HSPL route instead if you prefer.
Will probably invalidate any TMo warranty you may have so be aware.

[Q] HTC Sensation on Vodafone

Hi all, I am a complete Android noob and am looks for some answers.
I currently own a HTC Sensation Z710e that came with my contract on Vodafone and I am intrested in performing the whole S-Off and root thing, my question is though since I seen on the HTC Dev site that there is an EU version and a Vodafone version of the Sensation, I wanted to know if rooting on my phone would work and would I be able to install standard Senstation custom ROM's, would they install just fine or would there be issues with things such as calling or texting people? Would I need to change the radio settings around or something, if so how?
I just used the htc dev site just to see about how it works and I am probably going to use revolutionary.
I am running Android 2.3.4
You can tell I am not yet fully experienced when it comes to Android, so could I have some general tips and guidelines when it comes to modding my Sensation please.
Thanks for the help!
Yes when you root it and S off you can use any compatable rom - also unlcok the Sensation for free as well.
My phone came from Orange - S off CoreDroid for me and unlocked its
Marvellous sorry Sensational, now on Virgin
If you can read and follow instructions it's easy.
Use the guide here

[Q] stock rom activation help

My friend had an HTC evo 3d and it broke so I bought him an epic 4g really cheap on eBay (not the touch). I rooted it and put cm 9 on it and sent him the phone. He lives in Colorado and I live in Louisiana. When he finally got the phone today he said the sprint store couldn't activate it and I read that you gotta be on the same android version as stock rom which is GB on that phone. Would he be able to flash a GB rom over the ICS rom in CWM? I Want To Try to make it as simple as possible for him because he is a noob to this stuff. Thanks
