There seems to be a problem with Finger Keyboard when I create new sms. If I try to type letters of someone I want to send message to, it does not automatically bring up list of contact names.

It's the same for me with touchpal pro...
I was just about write Rozental (the autor) about it. Still you have an easy workaround - type one more character and then delete it. And you get the list of addresses!!
Type the name and del one letter...
This workaround works for most keyboards, but don´t work for TouchPal. Any ideas?

When You are searching for a contact in your car the contact are so small you can hardly see anything. Is there something to find contacts easier?
For example A-- B--- C-- D-- (alphabet) whenn searching?
the same as in TOMTOM?
If U Aim Well Into the search box (Find a Name) and Have The onscreen Keyboard On BIG Letters then ya Shouldn't Have a problem Aye!
This is a simple sollution but when you are driving your car and you want to search a contact it still is not the best way. I need something for people how are for example blind! Searching in alphabet A and then For example D etc etc
If you're just using the standard Contacts application built-into the PDA, just open contacts, and scroll down with your directional pad. After a little bit of scrolling, the letters of the alphabet will apper.
That what you looking for?

hahaha, i didn't knew there was a function like that! but still hard to use when driving
Well, this might help: in Contacts, go to Tools, then Options, then put tick on "Use Larg Fonts".
This might help little bit!
If you are looking for a contact to dial then may I suggest you take a look at a program called FingerClix. Check it out at http://www.imaginet-software.com It allows you to type the persons name using a phone dialer style keypad. As the letters are progressivly typed the contacts matching are displayed. It also displays all number for the contact (mobile, home office etc.) and you can then press on the appropriate icon to make the call. It is a much easier single finger option for in car dialing.
Hope it helps.

Or do wat I did and nick windows voice command from a file sharing site and use voice commands to dial people
Or you could simply try this freeware found in the Kitchen.

I have a small problem with the touch pro..
in my contacts i have several contacts with the same first name but different last names.
in my TyTnII, when writing an SMS or email, in the to: space i used to write the first two characters of the first name, space then one or two of the last name then i usually get the required contact.
in teh Touch pro, it's different, i write the two letters from the first name, it doesn't show all the contacts with the same first name.
when i put space it chooses the name displayed, it doesn't give me the chance to enter the second name.
this is really irritating me.
do you have a solution for this?
You know that you can use the arrows on either side of the one it finds first so you can scroll through the rest, right?
Not quite what you're wanting, but you didn't mention it, so, just in case!
this is exactly what I'm doing, but it doesn't show all the contacts...
that's why i have to find a way to enter the second name.
start typing with th last name, not the first.
this works for me
hmmm...
starting by second name was OK for some names, but it does no good when there's a contact who's first name is the same like another contact's second name.... (seems complex now)
it directly chooses the first one!!
i guess if someone has the CAB file for the messaging software same as TyTnII, it would be the ultimate solution for me.
can anyone help please?
Maybe I'm naive and unknowledgable on this, but wouldn't something like this be something to put forward to HTC support? They most likely will not solve it for you right away, but at least they would have a record of this being an issue and might rethink the software and give the user an option between which selection method is used.
If you tap on the "To:" it brings up the contacts app and you can browse for and select your intended recipient from there.
Hope that helps
I accidentally discovered a solution!!
after writing the first couple of letters of the first name, then CTRL+SPACE, then the first letters of the last name....
CTLR was the trick... as SPACE alone would choose the first displayed name.
thanks all for helping.
I have contacts with the same format as yours. I usually type the first two or three letters of the first name, then use the down arrow on the QWERTY. I haven't tried the virtual keyboard yet, but sure the D-pad would work in the same fashion.
FYI for those with similiar issues. It does only reflect one name at a time, but does let you scroll the contact list.
Is it possible to dial using alphabets instead of only numbers in the phone application? I think this would be very useful for SIP calls given that Outlook contacts don't seem to support any fields for SIP numbers/address. (On the same note, has anyone managed to find any applications that extends outlook contacts to include sip addresses?)
Tried the following and don't seem to work:
Holding the numbers - bring me to speed dialing
Whipping out the keyboard and trying the keys - searched contacts instead.
Anyone?
I do this all the time. from the dialer use the thnumber pad as letter
I.E Alexander= 253926337
it works for me too, you only press the number once per letter of the persons name you are trying to spell, so even if you want the letter C you still press the number 2 once !

Good man, exactly how HTC handsets have been working for many years now.
Isn't it amazing what you can find when you read the manual!!
No that is not what I meant. I meant instead of dialing "numbers", I want to dial alphabets.
I want to be able to dial "sip:[email protected]" instead of "112233445566" or whatever permutations that give me the words.
Ah....I see.
That would be a No then afaik. Not unless anyone has implemented this in a custom dial skin or shell replacement like SPB mobile shell etc.
This has got to be the dumbest question I've ever asked but it's infuriating me that I haven't figured it out.
I just had my wife ask me to write down a phone number. I quickly tapped it out in Notes. Then I swipe over to highlight and press and hold to Copy. So far so good.
Then I go to add a new contact and I can't Paste the dang number. I press and hold... no pop-up to Paste. There's no keyboard Paste. How do I Paste in a new contact number?
try to recall and edit the contact with telephone keypad
this wokaround is useful also when you want to add alphanumeric characters in telephone numbers fields because with LEO's keyboard this is impossible
Let me make sure I have this correct:
After I've copied, I go to dialpad and Paste, the Save to Contacts? It looks like that's do-able.
If you have Swype keyboard, the copy/paste option is built in and you can use this anywhere. I generally have my hardware keys assigned for copy/cut/paste using AEBPlus so that I can do this anywhere without having to press and hold every time, including file copies and stuff.
Is there an easy way to add a new contact from a txt? What I mean is, say you get a txt from someone not in your contacts. Instead of their name, their number shows up. Is there a way to make a new contact with them without have to write the number down and adding it manually?

don't think so...you have to copy it and then paste into the dialer and then save to contacts
When your in the txt message, press menu key and then you'll get the option add to person, and then make a new contact with that number. That is how it works with mine so it should work on yours to.
short press on the message from the number that isn't in your contacts, then select add contact.
