need help with APN problems - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hey people,
I've been reading a lot about rooting and modding and stuff to fix some bugs on my 32a Magic..
Now I have RA recovery and Amon RA v1.2.3 rom
Concerning APNs, I did create the apn properly but no data connection icon appears in notifications.. With another network it does..
when i get data connection I'm still not able to open https website using the browser..
help?!

have you tried with another apn list?
have you tried adding a bigger apn list for better support for your mobile network?
if not take the apns-conf.xml inside the .zip folder.
put it in your ROM inside system/etc/
this will replace the old one with the new and bigger one
if you have tried something like this write back and we'll found out something

i actually did try this before... but the thing is i use the following settings:
Bearer : GPRS
Proxy IP : 192.168.23.50
APN : wap.mic1.com.lb
Username : mic1
Password: mic1
the other provider settings that worked are the following:
Bearer : GPRS
Proxy IP : 192.168.4.11
APN : wap.mtctouch.com.lb
Username :
Password:
the mtctouch one is working fine(except the https part)..
i think the problem might be that the Alfa containing username and password..
and by the way, where is the bearer in the APN settings??

Please help me setup my Internet and MMS settings

OK i have a 750v from the UK and i use it with the Vodafone contract i got it with. I unlocked it so i can use it back home here in Cyprus when im here for the holidays etc but for some reason i cant get internet or MMS to work. I had found the settings off the Cytamobile-Vodafone (my phone provider, Cytamobile is owned by Vodafone now) website but they dont work.
So i called them (a few times) and they said they cant help me and the only thing they can do is send me a document with the settings written so that i can put them myself... I tried to several times but still nothing! The weird thing is that if i keep my Vodafone UK internet settings it works but i'm not sure if im going to be paying loads extra or not with those settings. MMS dont work either way.

This is the: "Basic settings for WAP over GPRS" that i was sent
Account Name: cytagprs
Profile Name: cytagprs
Connect using
or Bearer Type
or Data bearer
or Packet: GPRS

or GPRS access point
or Access Point Name: cytamobile

or Login name: user

IP address
or Gateway
or Primary Proxy Server
or Proxy address: 212.31.96.161

And they also sent me these settings for MMS
Profile name : Cytamms
Data Bearer : GPRS
Access Point name : cytamobile
User name : user
Password : pass
Authentication : normal
Gate Way IP address : 212.031.096.161
Homepage : http://mmsc.cyta.com.cy
Connection security : off
----------------------------------------------------
The voda UK settings for Internet (the ones in "My ISP") are:
Access point name: internet
username : web
Password : web
Oh also when i change the APN from "cytamobile" which i was given, to the Vodafone UK APN which is "internet" but i keep the Cyta-Voda username and password, internet still works. Im really confused.
Can some knowledgeable expert help me figure this out? Thanks and sorry for the huge post!
Try to hard-reset first, make sure everything are clean up.
And then, repeat your setting at menu
1. Setting - Connections
2. Manage Existing Connection - Click "NEW" and follow step-by-step (dont forget chooce Mode as Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
3. done
I already did a hard reset a few times and entered the settings and all but still nothing...

Touch Pro ROM on a little known network

I've been plying with ROMs on my ATT Fuze for a while and feel pretty good about it. My future sister-in-law just got her husband a Touch Pro but they use ACS (Alaska Comunication Services). Now when I load a ROM on my phone and when I put my SIM in for the first time it asks to setup the carrier and ATT is the first on the list so I never have worried about this step. What if ACS is not on the very short list of carriers, what will in need to know when I select other, what is it going to ask me?
Thanks.
*bump*
I am also on a smaller carrier.... Einstein Wireless (aka Einstein PCS)... May carrier also isn;t on the list.. text messaging and calling works.. but not internet or picture messaging ... Any suggestions?
P.S. Below is the list of settings I used on my Tilt to get them to work..
Under settings, coto Connections...
Name for connection : EinsteinPCS Internet
access poin name : apn (case sensitive)
Usename : (leave blank)
password: (leave blank)
domain : (leave blank)
...under advanced
User Servier assigned IP address
click ok..
under proxy settings check: this network connects to the internet
check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
proxy server should be :192.168.254.251
click advanced
http: 192.168.254.251:8080
wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
secure wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
socks (blank)
For MMS... go into MMS Options... goto servers.. set these settings :
Server Name : Einstein Wireless MMS
Gateway : 192.168.254.251
Port # : 9201
Server Address : httP//www.einsteinmms.com\+1(your 10 digit # here)
Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
Seriously guys? Just phone the carrier and ask for the settings - they'll either tell you, or send them as a network message (or both). The auto-config just makes life easier the the majority of people, its not essential.

How to set APN for HTC HD 7

I have HTC HD 7. Previously I had Tmobile and now i just bought Straight talk as my network provider. How can I set up APN so i can access data on my cell? I am able to make calls and sms, NOT MMS and internet? can someone help plz
Try HTC Connection Manager first. It should be in your HTC Marketplace. It should automatically set your gprs. In case it doesn't do that, ask info about APN from your provider so you can type it in manually.
Did you even try a single search? Like, "Set APN on WP7" or something?
Settings -> Cellular -> Network Selection / Add APN.
Alternatively, the Connection Setup app (as recommended by @hatuna; it's in the HTC Apps section of the Marketplace) should work just fine.
I am running into the same issues as OP. When I search for "Setting APN on WP7" the responses indicate the steps to edit / create APN's for the AT&T sim. For the T-Mo sim's, Straight Talk wants us to add Port information but no Proxy and WP7 won't let you save settings if you have a port # but no proxy value.
Try adding it as "my.apn.domainORT", like you would for a port on a web browser.
Alternatively, try using the proxy port, but setting the proxy name to the APN as well.
Finally (first, really), have you tried Connection Setup yet?
Finally managed to make it work. I used these settings :
APN - wap.tracfone
Proxy - 216.155.165.40
Port - 8080
Leave username and password blank.
I am getting 3G speeds with this setting.
I tried the HTC Connection manager but it doesn't have an option for StraightTalk. I did try Tracfone as an option but it didn't work.

Click to collapse
Did you find that the Tracfone option reverted to T-Mobile USA after you selected Tracfone and returned back to HTC Connection Manager? Also, did you find a place for the MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com setting?

Hellfire ICS 1.9 Simple Mobile APN working Internet/MMS settings

I looked around the forums and a lot of the info i found I couldn't use or it would make one thing work and the other not.
I didn't see a post that worked for me, and if anyone is having my problems that I had I hope this little guide works for them.
So after tons of trial and error, I have full working APN settings for Hellfire Sandwich 1.9
Both internet and MMS work now. I was having a problem with the other settings floating around, so I finally decided to do it my way, and it worked
Step 1: Download and install APN's Backup (free)
- hit the menu button and go to System Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point names
- Access and delete both the pre-loaded Simple and StraightTalk T-Mobile APN's
- Access the T-Mobile APN
- Once inside, chance the APN to simple
- DO NOT enter a proxy or you will get failed to find secure connection errors (That happened to me)
- Leave the Username, Password, and Server info with default information (aka do not touch)
- MMSC settings as follows : http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
- DO NOT put any values in MMS Proxy
- MCC 310, MNC 260
- Authentication type: Not Set
- APN Type: default,supl,mms
- APN Protocol: IPv4
Save the APN setitngs.
Exit the settings back to home screen.
Launch APNs Backup and backup the APN info you just set. The app will back up and reboot your phone.
BOOM! You have working Internet and MMS settings now on Simple mobile with 4g that is pretty fast =)
I hope this works for you all. If you end up losing data connection, turn the data on and off and it should work just fine. Worst case scenario just reboot the phone.
Enjoy this bad ass rom and +1 the the Hellfire peeps

MMS Failing to Send / OnePlus APN Settings Grayed Out and Can't be Edited - Fix

This is one for the search engines since I couldn't find an answer for this out there for this so hopefully this helps someone else.
My MMS messages were suddenly failing to send. I took a look at my logcat and saw that for some reason even though the MMS service was pulling the correct MMSC from the profile, the OkHTTP API was failing to connect to localhost. My only guess is that apparently the MMSC http URL was sending an HTTP redirect to something that my device was resolving to localhost since I could connect to the MMSC with my web browser and ping it successfully by name with a terminal client without it resolving to 127.0.0.1 (localhost). I tried disabling my ad blocker since that's the only thing I could think of that could be causing a DNS resolve to 127.0.0.1, but that wasn't it.
I also knew that my MVNO had updated their MMSC and so I tried adding in a new APN with those settings, with the new MMSC entered both by name and by IP address (note: with OnePlus you always need to specify an MVNO type, in my case GID, for a custom APN to save). From the logcat, I saw that the MMS service was unbelievably still using the grayed out APN profile with the old MMSC, even after a reboot. I verified that my custom APN was in fact selected. I tried deleting the storage from several different phone services, as well as locating and deleting the custom APN file, to no avail.
Finally, I figure out what was going on. OnePlus has an evil APN locking file at:
/system/etc/apns-conf.xml
If an APN name on your SIM matches with an APN name in this file, then you are locked to that APN even if you have defined and selected a custom APN!
So, I made a backup copy of this file first, then I located the grayed out APN profile in this file (search by APN name), deleted it, and rebooted. Looking at the logcat though, I still saw that the phone was not using my custom APN profile!! It turned out that there was a second match for the APN name in this file. I deleted that as well, rebooted, and voila - no more grayed out APN in my APN settings that I'm locked to and can't edit. I verified in logcat that my phone was now using my custom APN profile and now my MMS are working again!
Hope this helps someone else!
Notes:
I'm using the last Oreo/ OxygenOS 5.1.11 for best xPosed support, but I did see on the OP forums that other people were having issues with their MMS and APN grayed out even with Pie on several different OP phones.
Yes, I have an older SIM from my MVNO, but not that old
