I tried to install this great piece of soft, Touch In Call Screen Tweak, because I am not totally satisfied with the way the HD2 manages the backlight during a phone call.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488991
Sadly, for some reasons it seems that Touch In Call Screen Tweak does not work on the HD2.
Did someone try? Any idea to make it work?
thanks...
Sorry but in what way are you not happy with the way the HD2 handles the screen during a call?
Surely what Touch In Call Screen Tweak tries to emulate using the G-Sensor etc. the proximity sensor does effortlessly on the HD2. I really don't see what you would want to install Touch In Call Screen Tweak. Unless I am missing something?

Richard,
Because I think that Touch In Call screen is far more efficient:
- The HD2 only uses the proximity sensor, whatever the position of the device,
- Touch In Call Screen combines the proximity sensor AND the G-sensor.
I am using my HD2 a lot, and sometimes during the phone call I touch the screen and enter in the Menu by mistake. The HD2 system does not work all the time.

I have not experienced any issues yet with the proximity sensor and knocking menu buttons.
I also didn't realise the software could use the proximity sensor as I thought it was designed around devices like the Diamond & HD which don't have proximity sensors.
I find that If the phone is away from my ear then I would ussually want the screen on. Not sure how it handles the screen when using speaker phone though.
Touch Incall screen tweak doesn't use proximity sensor, it uses the g-sensor and the light sensor to emulate what a real proximity sensor does.
I haven't used it on HD2 but previously I've found it difficult to set up because of confusing wording in program settings. So I wouldyousuggest that you try to fiddle with them a little more.
On a side note, while TICST is just an attempt to emulate the real sensor in HD2, it has an option to keep screen off while using headset, which is something I'm badly missing now...
Hi, anybody knows how to change the settings of incall screen off on HD2? My HD2 don´t dim the screen while i cover the proximity sensor during a call.
Is there any menu or registry setting?
Touch screen stays on during call (phone by ear)
I have the same problem: my touch screen stays on during a call when I have the phone by my ear. I have this since I upgraded to the official HTC 1.66 rom. Anyone experiencing this as well? Any solutions? Help would be appreciated...
Hi. Same here. My screen stays on as well. Did someone got a solution?

nosh10, that's interesting. Which cooked ROM did you flash, and did it solve the problem of the screen in call? Besides that, does the ROM work well, or does it cause other problems?
I have the same problem as everybody else here, using stock ROM 1.66. Screen doesn't turn off reliably in call (sometimes yes, other no), leading to push buttons, hang up call, accidental conference call with Australia, China, and US .

Hi @ll i just bought a samsung bluetooth headset for my diamond and i already have a problem with it, it seems to be on my diamond self
whenever i use the headsets controls to forward track/ skip etc it wakes up the phone, and thus also the touchscreen, in my pocket
quite irritating
is there a way to fix this?, is this a known issue and can i return my headset based on this flaw ?
or must i wait for HTC to make a fix of some sort :S
same problem!
I have the exact same problem and know a friend of mine does as well.
If someone could fix this incredibely annoying issue... that would be GREAT
sooooooo, someone? pleeeaaaaassssssssssssssse!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422871&highlight=sensorlock
it`s really a searchin` thing
sensor lock is fine and all, but this doesnt eliminate the problem that the display turns on and uses up the allready weak battery...
exactly.
And I don't want to be rotating my phone everytime I want to do something with it (tiny hands)... the thing will probably drop.
i "found"that igo navigator 8 has the same issue when minimised
i can deal with igo, because the safe mode setting disables touch screen
I've solved the problem. It's one key in the registry. But I'm not really sure which one, because I've changed a lot of them.
I think, it's this one:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone\sleep] change to "1"
after this change, the phone will stay sleep as usual
So does anybody have a fix for this yet?
ps. the regkey doesn't exist in my phone.
On the touch pro, the screen off during a phone call feature is a big annoyance especially if you have to enter number after dialing (passwords, pins, or any other touch tones)

I absolutely hate the iPhone with a passion. However, I do admire the heatsensitive screen during a phone call. When you put the phone up next to your ear the screen turns off to avoid keypresses, and when you bring it away from your ear the phone screen automatically turns back on.

I'd like to emulate this function on the touch pro. I say emulate because obviously the touch pro does not have a heat sensor. My initial thought was using the accelerometer configuration in the Gyrator program.

I've disabled screen off and quick sleep via Shaps advanced config tool. I added the event in Graytor that when in the Phone program and in portrait orientation then turn screen off.

However, there are some issues with this. I'd like to do this when call only, not in the entire phone program. Also, I can't seem to get the screen to turn back on when the phone is returned to face_up orientation.

If anyone has any insight, or if this issue has been already posted, or if you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them.
This cab will keep the backlight on during calls: http://www.ppcmobility.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1885&postcount=13
I think what you're better off looking for from a development perspective is something that uses the light sensor (it's just inside of the headset speaker) so if it's dark the backlight is off...light and it's on. Currently the sensor dims the backlight under preset conditions but does not control on/off.
Thanks for the response. I can just make the regedits myself for the backlight always on. But I don't want to do that because then I can press keys on accident.
I do like the idea about the lightsensor though.
you can install slide to answer which includes a canvas that covers the screen like this:
hey, I was trying to avoid that solution, thanks for the post though,
anyone have any ideas on how to use the light sensor or gyrator to do this?
I disable the phone skin and my phone stays on during phones calls. It also got rid of the ring/caller ID delay.
but disabling the skin also gets rid of bluetooth notifier wether its on or not and of course you have the old buttons (yuck)
This is going off topic. I am not looking to keep the backlight on.
I hated it too I think this is what your looking for.

The problem with this CAB is that is changes the G-Sensor Polling to a ridiculous number like 10000, and that causes issues with any programs that rely on the accelerometer to rotate the screen automatically.

Oh I dont use any of the G-Sensor apps I only go to landscape when I use the HW keyboard which is rarely so I wouldnt have noticed. For me if it was between the G-sensor apps or the phone turning off during a call I would choose the phone not turning off. Sorry if I caused any issues to anyone.

i would take this 'hit' as well... i see it's not too definite of a fix but... the screen turning off during calls is weak.
*installs no sleep*
I don't think anyone is understanding what I am asking for. I am not asking for a way to keep the screen on during a phone call or to avoid turning it off.
I am looking for a developer to make a program that uses the TP's light sensor durning a phone call to AUTOMATICALLY turn screen on and off.
Example:
When there is full darkness(Phone is up to your ear) - turn the screen off
When there is light shown(Phone away from ear) - turn screen on
I need this but only during phone call.
I am not an expert but I think you have a problem here as the light sensor doesn't work in sleep mode
No it's not a problem.
It's a feature I want implemented using the light sensor.
lol, i think it is rediculious that people dont read his question (who can create a file/program that automaticly change with screen on/off).
Looking forward to see a change, because the screen goes ON or OFF manually isnt the solution.
Whoever makes this guy's program will be a hero.
I like that the screen turns off when I put the phone to my ear but it is annoying to have to turn it on again to enter pin numbers. Especially if you use the autolock feature as this means when the phone is awakened its back on the home screen. By the time I get back to the phone app and into the keypad it's often too late to enter my pin!
HI,
just looking for some *.cab or tips to lock the HTC HD2 screen when i receve or make a call...
U know, several times the call ending because just touching the screen with my hear... so, i've tried some tips like cab to render the screen less sensitive, but is not working nice.
My last experience was good with Inesoft Phone v.6.05.cab, this suite can manage many thinks and for me the nice one was this one (can lock the screen when receve a phone call) Because most of the functions aren't useful for me i have uninstaled, also drain% LOW my battery very fast...
Well, anyway, i just wana know first if some ppl get same problem about this like me, after folded many threads here, i never see somone talking about...
Yes i've see about screen sensitive problem report but not when making call or answering...
Thank you for ur opinion ur suggest and may ur solutions...

ugh i have the same problem dude. the lockscreen doesnt lock during calls for some reason. well it locks then unlocks randomly. people suggest using s2u2 but it looks like sth from iphone and i dont like it. theres also pocketprotector but its paid and i cant be bothered paying 15$
I've got the same problem and searching for a .cab.
Incoming calls often ending when I pull the phone out of my pocket
Pocketshield should work for you. You can lock the screen and protect the hard press keys as well when recieving calls. It has many other features I have found handy as well. Their is a free demo you can download from their site. I love the proximity sensor...I leave it locked and when I pull it out of my pocket it automatically unlocks.

Isn't there a proximity sensor in HD2 already? The purpose of the sensor is to disable the screen when approaching to your ear, so it cannot end the conversation accidentally.
I have the same problem and it has been discussed on here before.
Seems to be an issue with light entering the proximity sensor. I cut people off and the keypad starts dialling when I go outside or enter bright sunlight and my head isn't covering the sensor properly (at least that's what seems to happen).
afaik the proximity sensor has nothing to do with light... the fact that the screen turns on i think it's a bug... for me it never turns on when speaking if i have my phone by the ear... instead sometimes the screen turns on when making a call and it starts ringing in the earpiece and again when the other part answers...

yes there is a proximity sensor in the HD2, but this one for me is never working in regard of this problem, working wel only when i receve a call to diminue the sound from the ringtone when approching the phone, nothink else...

Your right this is another think. light and sensor working in different way for this problem.

you really need to RTFM... what has to do the proximity senzor with quiet mode (volumes drop when you pick up the phone from a table or somthg)?.... that is triggered by the g-sensor...

Hi,
thanks for reply, i have tried s2u2, but doing too much think and just locking for the cab to lock the screen.. also 'cause i use coOkies.cab some cab can make problem for this in fact, cOOkies tab offer also some stuff about lockscreen and can make some problem issue using another cab...
not easy..
thx.
I resolve the HD2 problem for proximity sensor bug during call with this steps:
1. turn off vibration for connecting (go to dialer menu)
2. turn off dialer keypad sound (via HD2Tweak 1.2)
3. install Touch in call screen tweak 1.2
Hi !
Could explain a little bit the "proximity sensor bug during call" you're facing ?
Which ROM verison are you using ?
thanks a lot !

both original & energy ROM
Hi !
Thanks for your answer...
My problem is slightly different, but involves radio ROM and winmo drivers, because everything was fine with stock ROM 1.48.406.1 and radio ROM 2.15.50.14.
Now that I'm using the stock ROM 3.14.406.2 (wich includes radio 2.15.50.14)
when i'm in a call, the screen stays off even if the phone is no longer on my ear...
So that's why I as interested by your solution, but it does nothing on my phone...
With this last official update from HTC, i'm now facing keyboard sensitivity issues (everything was alright with prévious ROM and HTC patch for the sensitivity), and this proximity sensor problem...
i find the case can make the sensor play up as most manufacturers dont account for the sensor

please explain more.
manufacturers dont put cut outs on cases or they arent big enough so the sensor is then covered
I have tried searching for some time and have encountered several different opinions on how to resolve the issue however, none so far work.
When taking a call or when placing a call after connecting to the call the screen goes blank in what seems to be 2 seconds even though I still have the unit in my hand and not up to my face and I am not touching/blocking the proximity sensors.
What is the definitive answer on what I can do to make a change to the settings to prevent the keypad/screen from blanking out while in a call?
I have the display settings set to keep the screen on when not in a call to 10 minutes and always on when connected to a power source. For the life of me I cannot find a resolution to this problem.
Exhibit II 4G with Stock ROM and now Cyanogen Mod9
have you got a proximiti sensor? Meaby you screen film blocked it
I think your proximity sensor is broken.. try to search in play store for "proximity sensor" i've heard of an app that can turn off your proximity sensor when calling but i don't know for rooted devices or non rooted
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Nope, I do have a screen film installed however, it clears and does not block the 2 proximity sensors on the top front of the phone.
I installed a Proximity Sensor APP from the market and it registers the device as working and activates the sensor at about 2 inches away.
I did notice today that when using the phone to call T-Mobile voice mail the dial pad does NOT blank during the call.
Does Android have a config file anywhere for this or is the screen blank setting built in to the system or perhaps the dialing app itself?
