I´d like to install a podcast client application wich pretty much works like the one in Iphone/Ipod (of course without the iTunes part). I also would like this app to download my subscriptions att scheduled times and only via wifi.
Is there such an app?
Search for RSS reader, ithink there is an advanced one that supports pod cast subscriptions.
Yomomedia on windows marketplace is quite polished.. beyondpod is the old favourite but not that user friendly but with heroic functionality.. i prefer lettig my PC do the heavy lifting though via MediaMonkey & syncing it later

i'm new to the rss world, but i was wondering if there was a program that worked like itunes, where it would manage the rss on the pc and then just transfer the rss(or media file?) into the wizard. kind of how an ipod works????
rather than the wizard downloading from the wifi or gprs directly.
sorry if i sound retarted...........
hmm this works on the psp
http://pspupdates.qj.net/MyTunesRSS-v2-1-Out-Now/pg/49/aid/58898
try that
if it works post
From wikipedia (sorry about long paragraph)
"A podcatcher is usually an always-on program which starts when the computer is started and runs in the background. It manages a set of feed URIs added by the user and downloads each at a specified interval, such as every two hours. If the feed data has substantively changed from when it was previously checked (or if the feed was just added to the podcatcher's list), the program determines the location of the most recent item and automatically downloads it to the user's computer. Some podcatchers, such as iTunes, also automatically make the newly downloaded episodes available to a user's portable media player."
i want a program that can do something like described here
If you have WM5 you can sync media through Windows Media Player, and there is a piece of software that will download and create playlists for new RSS downloaded media files called iPodder, that can be auto synchronised then through ActiveSync.
http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/download/index.php
For things like news, and text based RSS feeds, you could either use something like AvantGo or ano other RSS news reader you find on Google.
I use iTunes for downloading podcasts then I have a batch file which transfers them over to my Charmer.
The podcasts aren't DRM protected so they play with no problems.

Hi,
Not really sure how the Ipod/Iphone one works, but I,ve been using this free podcatcher Beyondpod (for Windows Mobile) for the past year.
I have it set up to download all my podcasts at 3am over my wifi and it's been very reliable.
I've just read following article:
http://www.intomobile.com/2010/05/20/android-to-get-ota-app-installation-streaming-music.html
It was posted before Froyo got released... it states that Froyo will have a option to stream your own music library?
Is that already available?
I now have an unlimited data option and want to be able to stream my music from home... any apps already doing this?
Thanks
Subsonic can do it, and i have heard of others, like Orb. I've never tried any of the others. Subsonic runs on your PC (windows/linux/mac) and then there is a client app for your device (android/iphone/pc). You can also access the music via the web interface.
For the client apps, like the android app, you need to donate to the subsonic open source project to get an unlimited streaming license, but I think it was well worth the couple bucks. If you donate, you also get a <foo>.subsonic.org domain so you can easily access your music. I use it daily. My only grip about it is that it caches the music on the SD card and if you set up a large playlist, it prefetches all the music and it doesn't automatically clean up after itself, which can fill up the SD card a bit.

Great... thanks! Will try it out.
For streaming my library, I run a linux server with Ampache (sorry, I'm new and can't post a link). Then for my android Evo 4g, I use the android clients like Lullaby or Amdroid (both in the Market).
Pretty slick solution I think.
...of course you can use a windows box to host the Ampache site. Ampache requires a web server, MySQL, and PHP.
Homepipe
Look for an app called Homepipe. It will stream music as well as giving you access to files/directories on your home PC. It uses an app on your PC for connecting. Pretty slick but be careful of bandwidth.

I am tired of many of iOS’s issues (lack of flexibility, screensize) and want to get the new Nexus. However, there are many Key features of iOS that I use extensively. I’m looking for some informative insight on Android’s offering.
1.***** Airplay – wireless music/youtube w/e directly from my iPhone. I have no idea what android have in this department
2.***** Music – I use a Mac and I would like to keep itunes. Is there a easy way to sync? Especially wirelessly
3.***** Facetime – is there an equally simple solution? My long D gf uses iOS, so im looking for cross platform here.
4.***** Facebook – iOS facebook sucks, how far along is android now, app, integration etc?
5.***** Notes – syncs automatically with my Mac, I can access it offline after it synced. I tried evernote before but I don’t think it works offline.
Any exclusive ICS features that are used extensively?
Thanks

Hey,
1. no idea, sorry
2. There are a few programs that manage sync with iTunes on a mac. Doubletwist (the paid version features wireless sync) might be a good solution for this: http://doubletwist.com/
3. What about Skype? =) I think iOS also has video call functionality https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skype.raider
4. Well facebook for Android also sucks :/ I'd go with the mobile website instead.
5. I'd say evernote is the way to go. It also works offline, at least on mobile.
1. Google music beta stores your music online .
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Apple has a way of trapping you in their exclusive ecosystem of software and accessories. You can find alternative, open solutions, but you may have to purchase new accessories.
If I understand correctly, Airplay is an Apple proprietary solution. I know that DoubleTwist has an Airplay plugin, but I would imagine it only supports playing back audio, not YouTube, etc.
DLNA is the alternative, but is standardized and widely supported.

1 Airplay....There are applications in the Android Market that can handle this.
2 Music-Doubletwist and Airsync - both provided by the same company. They also sync with iTunes.
3 Factime - I use Gtalk application It works on WiFI as well as 3G/4G and hence you can always be in touch with your gf....lol
4 Notes- Gdocs...it syncs with Google and also Google DOcs which not only syncs your notes but all your docs.
5 Google music is very good since it stores all your music in cloud and also gives you flexibility to download, transfer or play from the cloud while on the move.
1. Nothing really like airplay
2. You can use itunes to organise your music and just drag and drip songs onto your sd card.
3. I use the Skype app for video calls
4. The Facebook app is terrible for Android but is integrated well into the os with full contact sync and sharing photos to facebook straight from the app.
5. There are so many great note taking apps on the Android Market there will definately be something you will like
The great thing about Android is that if you don't like the stock Android apps you can always find better alternatives to them on the market.
How do you sync your podcast subscriptions and playback location between Android and Windows/Mac/Linux? I'm open to anything, and gPodder looks nice, but even though its app page on the Play Store says it supports syncing across devices it definitely does not (the Android app doesn't even have an options menu).
I'd love to utilize my personal server somehow as a web player, but that's not a big deal and probably isn't possible without writing a system completely from scratch. Basically, I need a good podcast app that allows me to download OR stream podcasts to/from my phone and that syncs subscriptions AND playback position with either a) server software that I can install/manage, or b) an app that works with Cloud Caster.
(Free apps are greatly preferred but I'm willing to pay a couple bucks for a good app. The web player isn't completely necessary, I'm fine with a client like gPodder offers if necessary, but the web player would be nice.)
Thoughts? Thank you in advance!
