assign soft keys to shortcut - General Questions and Answers

anyone know if it's possible to assign a shortcut to the softkey action
(ie. the softkeys are different in word to those on the today screen, can i assign a shortcut to that action)
i use a bluetooth keyboard which can be configured to any shortcut. it would be real handy to be able to just hit a couple of keys rather than reach for the devices tiny screen everytime i want to activate the menu.
cheers

how to: shortcut hard key for phone on/off?

Hi,
I have the Dr. Gonzo's ROM and, like others, it has the shortcut for bluetooth and wifi on/off (long pressing up or down hard keys). Is there another "shortcut" for turning the phone on and off or is it possible for me to create one?
Thanks.
Regards.
Nuno
I use AEButton Plus to bind keys. I have my voice command key bound to soft reset upon triple press, open comm manager on double press and close active window on single press.
If you have an app that does that creating a shortcut is not a big deal!

Assign keyboard buttons

I know how to reassign the PTT key but I can't figure out how to reassign the browser button on either the keyboard or on the screen that comes up when you open the keyboard ("Web Search"); I loathe Opera and would like to reassign both the button and the screen icon to either IE or maybe Fennec. Anyone know how to do that?

Shortcut to "lock screen" WM6.5

I want to remap one my softkeys on the homescreen to "lock". This function is now hidden in start > lock (left bottom key) in WM6.5.
Anyone know the shortcut?
Do you have hardware keys?
If so, holding down the "end" key will lock your phone.
or you can use Auto Lock.

Is there a way to assign the hardware buttons to applications?

Hi all,
Is there an application out there that let's me assign all the hardware buttons on the TD2 to various applications? For instance, it really bothers me that I only have a software button to take pictures and videos with (because sometimes I turn the phone around to have myself in the frame, try to hit that touchscreen button then!). It would be nice when in camera mode I can assign for instance the return button to act as the shutter button. In another application I can assign the buttons for other tasks then.
In short, is it possible to use the hardware buttons for different tasks in different applications (for example the already given example of the return button acting as the shutter button in camera mode, but in the browser you can assign the return button to act as the "back" key).
It would make using the TD2 SO MUCH easier!
Try SPB Pocket Plus.
Then go to |START|SETTINGS|PERSONAL|BUTTONS|. You should be able to assign just about anything to a HW key or a long press on a HW key.
HButton.
Freeware, works great!

[Q] Possible to remap actions of long-press keys?

Is it possible to remap the action invoked by pressing the Back and Home buttons? Or can it be removed? Like long-press Back acts as the Home key. And long-press Home pulls down the notification bar?
It's annoying because I always press Back to exit an app, not Home. And sometimes it lags so a tap of the Back key registers as a long-press and actually sends me Home.
Is it possible to remap by changing stuff around in the keylouts?
And also, is it possible to remove that "feature" of the volume being lowered when headphones get connected? That's annoying, too.

Click to collapse
/system/usr/keylayout/
directory may be of some use.
I'm not able to access those files at the moment but i think the file s3c-keypad.kl allow for some remapping as well.
I'll post back with more help when I'm actually able to access those files for the phone.
