I made a mistake - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I accidently flashed my rogers 32A with my ION 32B ROM. Is there any way or recovering it without sending it in?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

I did search in the general forum. If one of the mods can move this, then it'd be fine.
As for fastboot or recovery, I can not get to it. My mistake for putting both phones on the table. Seems like the Radio was flashed and I know the radios are not the same and if the radio does not boot, the rest of the phone will not boot so... I may have to send it in... Just wondering if there are other ways around this issue.

*Clap*
tooshort.

It's all simple really. I have an ion and rogers magic. I decided to mess with the new images and I was screwing around with the ion initially. I put it down, went away to work on something else, picked up magic, thinking it was the ion and flashed the ion rom to it. Yeah noob mistake from my part on that one. So the phone boot into the boot screen (mine says HTC, normally it would be Rogers) and stays there. As soon as I did that I realized that I screwd up the ROMs. If I recall correctly, Radio boots first, then the ROM and so on and such... Radio boots into 32A radio, 32B Ion Rom looks for 32B radio, does not see it, gets stuck...
I sent it into HTC repair in TX. They'll send me another one in a about 10 days pretty much is what I was told. Oh well. Don't put 2 phones that look very much alike next to each other and better yet, flash the boot screens differently.

Get your operators ship rom, then flash it via SD card. Reflash HardSPL and then flash a CDMA rom.
Oh dear. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember when someone has done that before, the phone was bricked (i.e. flashing the wrong radio, not just the wrong ROM). I do hope I'm wrong.

thanx for posting, well i thought i broke my phone a couple of days ago prior to this bcuz my phone turned off out of nowhere and wouldn't come back on even after being charged for an hr. then it turned on a couple hrs later when trying again. Well, unless someone comes forward and says otherwise, I'm sorry to say yes, I think you're done. In the past one or two people have posted up a similar scenario and I don't recall them posting to say they fixed it.
It might cost you less than replacing your phone if you pay for your phone to be repaired.
Well possibly not. IF you can still get into bootloader (hold the volume down button when powering on or if device is already on hold down volume down and softreset) first LOOK AT THIS TASK 29 POST HERE BUT DONT DO ANYTHING YET!:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191
Make sure to download the file provided, extract it to wherever.
Now goto this post here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=90342
and download the correct radio for your provider.
Replace the NBH file from the TASK 29 threads package you extracted with the one from your provider.
Run the task29 as instructed.
Once its done it wont boot into a rom you need to go back into bootloader like I told you how before (Volume down and reset) now find your providers stock rom from here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91940
and flash that rom to your phone. Hopefully this will resolve your issue, best of luck to ya mate.
To anyone ready to post disagreeing: Please dont post up saying about task29 and saying it wont work and stuff, I have fixed two worldphone this way because the owners did exactly what he did, in the way I described here.
thanx aestivalisakito im willing to try what your taking about. have a couple of questions tho. its not that im making it go into bootloader. when i hit power it goes str8 to it. could that be a problem for this fix?
my screen sticks at the multi colored screen with writting in the background saying" code error please try again".and i noticed that, one time while powering on b4 getting stuck. it, for a split sec. try to go to the grey screen to flash and says "loading No image found" then back to multi colored screen. does this help any?
also can i use task29 thru sd card?
thanx for your help

Ahh it appears you weren't that clear. If you get into the multi-coloured screen, you are at bootloader. Download a rom from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Rhodium/Shipped_Roms to get your original shipping rom. Once you have done this, put the nbh on the sdcard named as rhodimg.nbh. Reboot back into bootloader mode. This should then get you able to flash the device with all the proper stuff.
Make sure to get the one for YOUR original provider.

so all you did was SD card flash an original ROM from your carrier? just asking for future reference.

Do not post a new thread!!!! DISAPPEARING POSTS!

Do NOT post a new thread without reading this first! Very important! Your post may vanish!
I've about had it! I move countless new posts each day to the General catagory!
I want to make one thing clear, if you are not developing or at least helping in the development of a rom, hack, script, driver or anything similar you probably should not post in development.
de·vel·op·ment   [dih-vel-uhp-muhnt]
–noun
1.
the act or process of developing; growth; progress: child development; economic development.
2.
a significant consequence or event: recent developments in the field of science.
3.
a developed state or form: Drama reached its highest development in the plays of Shakespeare.
4.
Music . the part of a movement or composition in which a theme or themes are developed.
5.
a large group of private houses or of apartment houses, often of similar design, constructed as a unified community, esp. by a real-estate developer or government organization.
6.
Chess . the act or process of developing chess pieces.
7.
Mining . the work of digging openings, as tunnels, raises, and winzes, to give access to new workings, and of erecting necessary structures.

So since we aren't BP workers sitting around playing chess while listening to Mozart or watching Hamlet. And we're sure as hell not teachers trying to show children how to do constructions (although I can use it as a metaphore) I'm going to go out on a limb and say that #2 applies.
So unless you can create "a significant consequence or event" other than your own device then you should not post in development.
Do you have a [Q] Question?
Maybe, just maybe it might belong in the general Q&A section.
That would be this:
myTouch 3G, Magic General
Discussion about the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, HTC Magic (general Q&A, tips & tricks)
So here's the deal... for the next two weeks until further notice I am going to be very strict.
If I see a post that should not be in the development section, I will remove it completely. I won't move it, I won't warn anybody. It'll just be gone.
A few days ago I had to go and move 14 (that's fourteen) posts all at once. That's a little out of hand. These were obvious Q&A like:
What rom is the best?
What is _________ app from ________ picture?
How do I setup swap?
What is compcache?
How do I setup adb?
Why is my recovery not working?
How do I flash a new recovery?
Help me flash a new radio?
etc, etc, etc.
(These were only examples since I don't want to single anyone out.)
These are NOT development related.
Now if you made a script or an app of some kind that made these questions easier for the user then it would be development. Get it? Good! Because I'm not repeating it!
Final warning to all members!
And this goes hand in hand with this warning here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545005
Also... if you break this rule... you can find your post in two places in the trash.
First place will be in the trash.
Second place will be in this locked thread as an example of what NOT to post in the Development section.
You have been warned!

I've done a whole lot of searching, but I wanted to ask for a simplified explanation of this procedure before I start.
Current phone software versions:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
May 27 2009, 19:06:41
ROM: CM6RC3
Recovery: Amon_Ra
Goal: Flash 2.22.23.02 radio onto my phone.
Issues: I have a "perfected" SPL on my phone, 1.33.0006. This means that I cannot use fastboot to flash my radio (I get the "remote: not allow" error).
Main questions:
Can I simply rename the radio file I downloaded (forum.cyanogenmod.c om/files/file/50-magic-radio-2-22-23-02zip/) to "update.zip" and flash the radio using recovery mode?
Do I need to then immediately flash a new ROM (preferably Cyanogen 6 RC3) right after flashing the radio, because flashing the radio requires a ROM flash right afterward (read that somewhere).
If the above steps are correct, do I need to do a full phone wipe? Or just cache and dalvik-cache?
Do I need to worry about compatibility between radio and ROM version? Or radio and SPL version?
OR do I need to first flash the SPL to something like 1.33.2010 (a custom, non-perfected SPL)? If so, do I follow a procedure similar to this: (forum.xda-developers.c om/showpost.php?p=5304579&postcount=4) ? I assume this SPL would allow me to use fastboot to flash the radio (negating the need to flash radio via recovery).
Just want to upgrade the radio to (supposedly) get better reception. And yes, this is a USA MT3G (1st version). Would prefer not to create a goldcard and all that jazz (which I haven't done before).
THANK YOU!

In particular, when I install for example, a new froyo ROM like superfroyo 2.8.2, at the first connection with WPA2 protected network, my phone, after the typing of password, start reboot in loop. At every restart is impossible to switch off wi-fi.
Same problem with the connection at 3G network...

Radio download links?

Hey all, I'm sorry if this seems an odd question, but I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around the process of how the One S gets different features flashed to the device.
I don't have my One S yet (Hopefully it'll arrive later today, 7/27) but I wanted to be prepared when it arrives.
It seems the links are broken in this post and it's stating that this thread is outdated.
If I'm going to flash a new ROM on the device, are the radios generally included in that ROM already? I see that you often times need to manually flash BOOT.IMG on a per-ROM basis due to not having s-off? I'm comfortable with all of that, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything, and unfortunately it seems as though there is little information in some of the threads on XDA that clearly answer my question.
Call it a personality defect, I just like to 100% understand something in every possible way before being able to attempt it. Unfortunately when I don't have the device in front of me, it prevents me from being able to do that, but that's what forums are for, right?
Cheers all, I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer my question.

The latest radio with android 4.0.4 rom is said to be much better in terms of performace of wifi and cellular data signal then all previous versions, unfortunately buying a phone at this stage means that you probably will have a later hboot version 1.13 and this hboot doesnt allow flashing radio from recovery like the previous versions. You can find out more info about the radio in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781033
To answer your other question the radio has to be flashed separately from the ROM. Hopefully your phone comes with a lower hboot so flashing wont be a problem, make sure you dont accept the ota update out of the box like i did so u dont accidently get an upgraded hboot. Makes life more diificult ;p.
Its a used phone and is already running CM9, so I'm hoping its the older boot. I already made sure it was the S4, but I just realized that the unlocked phones don't support TMOUS bands, so I'm a bit screwed at the moment.
I don't know what the next step is for me, so I may be forced to move to Straight Talk until I can get another 100% compatible TMOUS phone. I saw it has 2100 HSPA radio frequencies so I had assumed it would work on TMOUS. Needless to say I feel pretty stupid now.
Thanks again for the links, they were exactly what I was looking for!

Stuck, help needed, can't boot to rom, just restore

Hello,
I have phone that can't boot to rom, just HTC logo apears, but I can go to bootloader and I have CWM installed and working.
Problem is that I can't start any rom I tried to install, it just freazes with HTC logo and I don't know what to do now.
I tried CM 7.2, JellyTime-AOKP-7-Saga and few other roms. No seams to be woking, but they install and show that everything is ok in CWM.
Any help would be really nice, because I don't know what to do.
Thanks!
EDIT:
Thank you for answers, but I have solved my problem like this:
I now have 4.0.4 that is from HTC.
First you need to relock you bootloader:
Boot to fastboot, plug usb and "fastboot lock oem".
Then I used RUU also from fastboot.
And it worked!
Notice you have the 2.00.0002 HBOOT, was it htcdev unlocked and if so are you flashing the boot.img after you flash the rom?

and I now see where you were coming from......I thought I'd express personal frustration along with providing the solution, all you need to do is Google my response and you have the solution!
Although I'll give the OP one thing, he bothered to write an very informative polite thread with all information required including pics - if only all threads were that clear and well described.

We need a bot that autoreplies to every post with "flash boot.img if you're HTC dev unlocked", I swear that's the answer to almost every question here recently!

Guys, I understand that most of problems are solved and answer is somewhere, but then you don't know lot about stuff you are doing you don't really know what to look for. And then you can't boot your new phone you start to panic.
cyanogenmod wiki don't say anything about boot.img and since cm is one of the most popular roms (Sorry if no) new users think that they should do everything that is said there and it will work. If it don't work - I did something wrong or something wrong is with my phone. I done everything again and it was same. I said how I'm installing rom on #android-root (freenode) and no one said that I do something wrong just said that that I am pretty much ****** because I don't have a back-up.
So sorry for all the noobs like me and be patient with us, latter we will be there to help other new noobs.

Good point. But that's also the reason why we have these threads called "Indexes". IT IS much easier now compared to when we were just starting to fill up the thread on xda-developers. Believe me.

+1 to that.
The sheer terror, over a year ago, of using a hardware rig (XTC-Clip) to gain permanent S-Off - knowing that if I didn't do it perfectly and didn't understand what I was doing then I would be left with a very expensive paperweight. These guys now have it so easy by comparison
Kids these days.......
Too easy, too young, too lazy....having lost the ability to read and the understanding of value, I always knew that my device which had cost hundreds of pounds couldn't be replaced (and I have a job) and I therefore read, researched and reread until I understood what I was doing before I asked daft questions (hopefully). there are clearly exceptions liked dan and Oly but kids these days.......I'll stop before I get properly started and called an old fart.....
would have justified those statements by saying that I obviously got out of the wrong side of bed, but unfortunately I'm still in it.

[Q] Continous Bootloops after S-Off

I tried an S-off as per the procedure everything went well
Supercid 11111111
and Finally A bootloader with S-Off
but when The device booted,it showed the home screen with the unlock screen and as soon as the screen unlocks its gives and error "Process system failed" (somethng almost similar) and gave an option to wait or close the program, choosing either of the two would result in a continuous bootloop
Attempts Made So far
-reflashed the kernals,ROMs, with Factory reset, Wipes Via fastboot commands
-Did A factory reset from Bootloader to clear all the Corrupt files
-Re-locked the bootloader to Install a fresh RUU
Attempted the S-Off from Win8 PC, but later RUUs were also tried Via Win7
Thannks to beaups and jcase so far for all the Help, Appreciated:good:
All the above steps couldnt bring back the cell to normal. Therefore, would Appreciate any help
#Latest attempt was Installing a Recovery via fastboot, it showed 'failed" Error
Thank You
Don't factory reset from bootloader, that corrupts the SD card. Have you tried flashing stock recovery? If your SD card is corrupted, that's the only way to fix it. Also, keep in mind next time that you should post questions in Q&A, people tend to get a little upset when they show up here.
C'mon man, wrong section.... Use Q&A....

You obtained S-Off but corrupted phone's internal card b/c perhaps you did not wait enough time when did the last step (adb shell su -c "/data/local/tmp/soffbin3" before reboot) when did S-Off.
1. Now, Re-lock your bootloader and then reboot into RUU flash mode: fastboot oem rebootRUU
2. Flash either HTC RUU or OTA Update from here
3. Reboot - you will have stock ROM
4. Now unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, root, do backup, (you still have Super CID) and then do S-Off (if you really need)
P.S. Q should be in General Thread

To be fair, if he hadn't posted in QA, he probably wouldn't have got the response. All the good people are here. QA is mostly full of 'how to I get into my bootloader' crowd.
(I follow the rules though )

My thoughts exactly. If you want less Q&A posts here, go to Q&A and help some noobs out.

WOW look at this right in developing (shakes head) always try q&a first if a few days go by and no response then maybe try in the rom but don't start a question here.
P. S. Next time you loop your phone Google it first then read till your blue in the face if no luck that way then come here, please.

Em why not? So what its in the wrong section its a bit late to ***** about it so why not help and just let him know he did wrong like trathiang did and he only has 17 posts so shame on you.
I've factory reset from bootloader and stepped on other land mines as well. Don't worry, as long as you don't mess up your bootloader I think it is pretty hard to brick this phone.
I would suggest you flash TWRP recovery if you don't already use that, wipe everything including internal SD card, mount it and copy over the ROM and flash it again. Maybe it's something wrong with the ROM you are using?! Perhaps try a different one and of course make sure it's for an HTC One S (ville) phone.
If you try mount the internal SDcard and Winbloz says the sdcard needs to be formatted then do that using all defaults (fat32).

I apologize for posting in the wrong section, but in the past had an experience that my questions remained un-answered in Q &A Section so had to post it here to attract the best minds to comment
As far as i remember there was no issues with S-Off.. as i waited for some time then did an Adb reboot and later it showed S-Off in Bootloader
I also Googled alot before posting it here .. In case Someone missed out the procedures i followed to get it back, its a long list of tries
I Already tried the RUU process ( will give it one more try now)
I also tried with different ROMs but the same issue
Sorry for the wrong section

Which RUU are you trying? If it's 2.35, try something older, like 1.84. I could never get 2.35 to work.

why not? i guess rules arent needed, r they? he isnt the first, and wont be the last, but there is a reason for rules. if ppl continue to help them, they wont listen to the rules and continue to post in the wrong sections and clog up dev and general with crap. i help on here and irc and been around for quiet some time. tired of ppl just feeling entitled. i always check in q&a as i try to help when i can. but when ppl refuse to follow the rules, i will not help and will report the post.

The way I see it, this guy is not asking how to change his wallpaper or install a Hello Kitty theme. His phone won't boot. The night I got my phone, I did a factory reset from the bootloader and spent 4 hours having a panic attack trying to fix it. It's a ****ty feeling, we've all been there, and when we were there, all we wanted was to figure out how to save our phones. Helping people while reminding them to post in the right section will make people have a more positive experience with xda. Telling them wrong section and refusing to answer them is petty and alienating.
