The HD2 is my 1st WinMo handset and I really like the icons but some of the icons for our most frequently used Apps are really ugly and low res. So I read the tutorial on how to customize your Icons on pocketnow.com (LINK). And decide to share some of the replacements I have used.

Icon UPDATE: CSMI icon, Dynaink (or any drawing App), Digital Compass, Windows Marketplace, CleanRam, myplayer, Resco Registry, Email(or SMS), S2_U2(manual lock), CleanRam config, S2_U2(main folder), Spb Wireless monitor, Spiderman toxic city, Opera(or any internet/wifi toggle app), Resco explorer.
DISCLAIMER: I only made the myPlayer Icon. The others are modified by me but were designed by very talented people.
To edit your icons use CSMI icon editor app or Manually with your registry editor.
Manual Method
Open your Registry Editor
--go to HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start.
--Just locate the Program-You-Want-to-change.ink folder and find the string value key labeled Icon.
(if you don't have a string value key called "Icon", just create a new one and label it "Icon")
--change the string value of Icon to to the path were the image is stored. (I suggest you drop the images in there respective Program Files's folder)
--SOFT RESET and you re done...Enjoy your new cool icons.
Download: XtrmMakeOverIcons.rar
Example:
--To change Resco Explorer: I dropped the resco.png and registry.png into the Resco Explorer folder stored on my Storage Card's Program Files folder.
--Navigated registry to HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Resco File Explorer.lnk
--
Created a new string value key labeled Icon. and under string value, typed \Storage Card\Program Files\Resco Explorer\resco.png
--Soft reset and Done.(this same procedure was done for the registry.png but in the Resco Registry.Ink)
Note: All icons are .png files and have transparency(which i personally prefer). Only a few are done in iphone style buttons.
I dont tend to update frequently because of the amount of workload i have for my final year project but just keep your eyes out for more beautiful icons from me.

there's a couple of apps to help you change icons direct on the device if you're interested.
this one is a good one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567080
saw that one and used it, worked like a charm
have messed around little with folders in start menu so couldn't change all the icons I wanted, but as long as the first sight on the home screen looks good...
this is awesome.
what we need tho is a complete high quality icon set.
I'm actually amazed that nobody has done that so far...my photoshop skills absolutely suck but if anyone is an expert...I'm sure everybody here embraces the idea...
what we could do tho is donating money for the time that it takes

Anyone figured out how to change the Camera and YouTube icons in Sense? It seems to be using them from the .exe itself or something as the icon changes in the start menu but Sense still finds the old one somehow even after flushing the icon cache.

@AdoniteKing
Thanks for this work. Just awesome. Great contribution.
How about redoing the complete action screen in colour.
At the moment, it's completely black&white which seems
to be rather 1970's

Hey. So I'm sort of at a loss when it comes to my today screen. Im a huge fan of the layout of the default HTC theme, but not a fan of the green. I really like the blue of the windows theme, but I dont like the layout too much. So basically my question is... Where can I get that blue (and other) color schemes and themes for WM6 (that support the multioriented screen)?
Thanks a lot.
You can use Facade to change and customize your today screen.

Open up windows folder in WinXP when synchronised with ActiveSinc (much faster than with the smartphone built in file explorer) and search for bmp files or jpg.
Copy them all and transfer them to the desktop, see if one isn't the windows screen ^^
I personalize my home screen in Notepad, I prefer more info on display:

How did you change your homescreen information with notepad? what file did you edit?
I'm looking to put a battery timer/percentage like you have on yours. Also, how did you change the colors?
Just open whatever *.home.xml file you want in notepad, add/remove whatever plugins you want. Save it and transfer it to the phone.
the homescreens are stored in \Application Data\Home

Looks nice. Isn't your S710 getting slower? E.g more lag to build up homescreen or slower when navigating between apps?
Thanks.
I can't say I noticed any huge performance difference, on saying that, I'm overclocking to 252 anyway
Perhaps slightly less battery power due to the refresh of the SmartMonitor resource features, but that also could be I used the phone a lot yesterday, finishing off the homescreen.
I've also been using this homescreen for a while now (before I started to post it) so really have no performance metrics to compare to.

1. even though you cant see the slider... does it still function?
2. are you able to still pull up quick links?

nice idea i may give it a go.
what would be cool is if you could turn it on ana off. maybe slide the slide bar down to vanish then up to re appear. its probabily not possible but would be good to have the option to make it clear and solid at a press of a button.

All you guys might have to do is either edit icons.mode9 manila file and set visible=false under the icons you don't want displayed (there are 3 references/icon - 1 big preview, 1 for off, and 1 for on). You need to just add the line visible=false under each qtc for _on and _off icons. You can do this easily with m9editor.
You could also do a dirtier way of just making the icons totally transparent. This could be easily accomplished by downloading a custom icon set for your manila version, creating a transparent png square the size of the icon, and using cfcgui to replace all of the small icons in the slider with the transparent png. The bigger icon is used for the preview on your screen.
I've attached a cab using the 'dirty' way of doing it. The slider has a line at the bottom as suggested by Prodildo. It should work with 2.5.1921, 2.5.1922, 2.5.2011 and maybe others (slider I took the files from was compatible with those). The only problem I noticed was the date is still displayed on the invisible calendar icon (the 1 in the screenshot). That can probably be fixed in a mode.9 file, but I am at work and do not have access to a manila file dump.
**edit - I added the fix for the date doesn't show now on the invisible icon (but does show on big icon while switching tabs)

All credit goes to newone757 (see this thread) for the original idea, inspiration and most importantly the PSD template with which I made these icons. Without further ado:

What you will need:
1. Desktop Visualizer for the icons/"tiles"
2. Launcher Pro Plus (though ADW Launcher's widget resizing function may work just as well) with homescreen set at 4 columns and 5 rows
Widgets used in these screenshots are Battstat ("small, numbers") and Digital Clock Widget by Maize (the date's text is set to black and therefore invisible). The vertical Power Control Widget comes with CyanogenMod6 (thank you, Cyanogen and #teamdouche!). Please note that I made the icons so that they're displayed optimally when you hide the status bar, as that's the display I prefer. The font used is, naturally, Zegoe/Segoe UI.

You will want the original PSD templates (download from newone's thread), not my PNG. If you've got those already, just click on the layer with the image, select the image and delete it. Find a new one, paste it on and it should remain behind the text layer.
Added icons for Quickoffice/documents to go, twitter, mail, browser, maps/car home, and file explorer.
Looks nice. Could someone make a youtube vid of the workings?

what do u have set up for the folder icon? cause I am drawing a blank on finding a work around to have it open a actual folder, if that's possible
The folder icon is actually for folder organizer. Obviously, not enough space for "folder organizer" as a title. So it goes with several other icons, hence the icon for Dropbox being a picture of a box with the caption "drop."
If you've got any apps you'd like icons for, feel free to request.

Hi,
I sent you a PM, not sure if you got but I'd pay you to custom make some images for me for my Nexus if I sent the pics to you? I don't have the proper software program to make them. Please let me know. I wouldn't ask you to do them for free and I feel that people who design stuff for us should be rewarded for their time and work.
Thanks in advance hopefully.
Apparently I disabled e-mail notifications for PMs. What do you have in mind? If it's more icons, making them is really very easy and I wouldn't want to take payment for it especially when I'm using someone else's photoshop template to start with.

I have been working on a couple of new battery widgets for CHT 2.0 and here is the first one. It is based on Poyensa's original text battery kitchen but with quite a bit of modification.
There are four layouts each giving a different text formatting option - UPPERlower, lowerUPPER, UPPERUPPER, lowerlower.
There is also the option to hide the 'percent' string, and to specify the color for each line of text through registry changes. The 'percent' string is enabled by default. To hide it use your registry editor and change HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\CHT.duncTextBattery.Percent.Visible to 0
The font used is named specifically for the widget so it is easy to substitute the font for your own and it won't affect anything else - just rename your font to duncTextBatteryFont.ttf and copy/overwrite to \Windows.
You can also specify colors for each line of text through reg edit. Default is white for each line. To change edit the following registry keys:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\CHT.duncTextBattery.ValueColor
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\CHT.duncTextBattery.PercentColor
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\CHT.duncTextBattery.ChargingColor
Values are RGB and need to be in this format - 255,255,255 - with no spaces.
If anyone is interested the colour code I used for the percent string in the screenshots is 0,185,255.
The widget background is dynamic so it will change height depending on how many lines of text are visible. If you want to remove the background then just install the 'Remove TextBattery background' cab or use CFCGUI to replace the background image with a transparency of your choosing (13d93430_manila)
There is also specific behaviour built in that dictates what lines of text show when fully charged, so if battery is at 100% and on charge all that will display is 'FULLYcharged' (percent hidden even if normally there), but if at 100% and not on charge then ONEhundred will show (with percent string if not hidden by reg edit).
Resizeable and pinnable.
Pressing on the widget will take you straight to the Battery & Backlight options screen.
Any questions please ask!
For those of you having an issue with the widget displaying as a white box I apologise - this is caused by the qtc image file not conforming to a recognised size. I have amended the qtc now and updated the widget cab and the Remove Background cab, but for anyone who has already installed the widget and has this issue just download and install the White Box Fix cab and restart Sense - should be OK then.
2/2/11 Charging color fix - the first and second versions of the widget cab had an issue where the Charging text color did not change regardless of the value set in the registry. This was due to one typo in the lua script (Tect instead of Text!). The widget cab now attached has the fix included, however if you have already installed then simply download and install the Charging Color Fix cab. Might need a Sense restart for the fix to take effect.
For anyone who wants them I have also attached the files for the Comm Switches (cab) and the softkeys used in the screenshots. In the softkey zip you'll find the ones I use as pngs to copy/paste into windows, the manila file for the menu background to do the same, and the psd template in case you want to make any of your own.
The icons down the left side of the screen are the page switch links and notification icons (mail and messages) that I made for BLUE SK-i. You can download the switch links cab and the BLUE SK-i skin for them in THIS post, but unfortunately I can't find the skin shown above for them anywhere (must have deleted them by mistake) so you'll need to use the psd template from there to remake them if you want this look.

The Bar Code Battery widget is a Standalone widget so it should be compatible with any other CHT widget and fully CHTS integration, it is resizable, pinnable, uninstalable, and includes a setting menu (Credit and BIG Thanks to "El Maestro" Poyensa), by pressing on it you get access to a pop-up menu, where you can make quick setting changes like horizontal/vertical position, text color, text size, etc.
The widget shows the device battery life (%) and when it is less than 15% its shown in yellow and when it is less than 7 its shown in red with a blinking "warning!".
Installation:
Install JMLMenuSense.v1.60.cab (or higher). If you have installed JMLMenuSense previously no need to install it again.
Install the attached CHT2.0w_JdplaBarCodeBattery .cab in device and soft reset.
CHT Menu> edit mode> add new element > Bar Code Battery Widget (With value text, no % symbol).
Enjoy!
Uninstallation:
CHT Menu> edit mode> add new element > Bar Code Battery Widget > Uncheck (Disable the widget).
Setting > Application > Remove programs > select Jdpla JdplaBarCodeBattery > click Remove > Soft reset device.
Disclaimer:
Manila/Sense on many (cooked and stock) ROMs with many versions is sometimes very fragile, So you install this on your own risk, bla, bla, bla ...Please, make a backup before installing!
I have tested the widget in my HTC HD2 and it works fine, I hope it works well on yours too.
Feedback is much appreciated.
Credits & thanks:
Credits must go to Poyensa who made the widget menu setting .xmu and for his great thread "HOW TO MAKE A CHT WIDGET" and all his help, Gracias Maestro.
Special thanks to the great work of Dunc001 and Rat2665 in SimClock and CircleBattery, Base of this widget, Thank for your help guys.
Big Thanks to Co0kieMonster, MichelDiamond, CHT2.0.Team, Dream Team & JMHL JMLMenuSense.
Enjoy!

Hi Stopa,
It's nice to know you like it
The widget font is a "Bar code font" so if you change that font then the battery value won't show any bar.
Thanks for the 192,192,192 jdpl. It looks great.
