Should work for both
I can find no Home.WallpaperMode at the HKCU/Software/HTC/manila...
I'm using the latest TESS Pride (IV).
Thank you very much for this!

It's not working on Dutty's HG8. The dword is already set to 0 but the weather anim in home screen is still animating.
Edit: Damn i feel like a stupid. set 0 to 1 eh.
Alright its working now. Thanks boys.
Great, works for me - even without a soft reset or restarting Sense.
I had 0 to start with and set it to 1. The Weather Tab itself is unchanged and still has the animation........... in case I miss it
Cheers
John
Thanks heaps for this! It was driving me crazy and wasting battery and making it difficult to read the home screen in rainy weather...
It looked cool for about the first 2 days then got annoying.
The key can be replaced by "2" instead of "1" (works with NhatHoa Rom 6.5.x).
if all above doesn't work try
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593988
in my case the solution was to set to "x"
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/HomeBackgroundPath

You have to create the value if you don't see it.
dword value name Home.WallpaperMode, than
value =1
This worked on my Tilt2 on the ROM in my sig.
No weather on clock look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656240
the way to disable animation is way easier than messing with the registry. somewhere on here a week ago i read that all you have to do is set your wallpaper in the "animated wallpaper" option when you change it through manila. so instead of selecting a wallpaper using "weather wallpaper" use the "animated wallpaper" option to set. even if you dont use an animated wallpaper, your device thinks you are and it will disable the weather animation to let your "non animated" wallpaper animation run on the homescreen. i do hate the rain animation because its like 2 frames per second. hope this helps!
they are not talking about the full-screen animation, but about the small weather icon under the clock.
I tried to change the Home.WallpaperMode from 0 to 3 with no luck... the image on the background changed, but the weather icon under the clock remained...
thanks a lot
Nope, doesn't work for me, any other suggestions? My value is already at 1.
Nice, works fine. Thank you.
nice but what does these mode means?
My understanding is
0 = Weather animation on top of wall paper
1 = Weather icon present but no weather animation
2 = Weather icon present, no weather animation, yes animated wallpaper (if the wallpaper you choose is an animated format. IF using a plain, static jpeg then mode 2 works the same as mode 1)

Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows a program that can change "Lock-Screen"/Start wallpaper ? It should be able to open folder of wallpapers and that user could set time - "how often to change wallpaper".
Most of Wallpaper Changers / Switchers can change only Today's Screen wallpaper.
I need to to change wallpaper of Locked screen, for example once in a hour.

As long as it's changing the standard WinMo background then it will work just fine, the lock screen just uses the standard WinMo background for it's own. That's why it's the same as the screen that's behind the start menu.

I mentioned that most of software change only Today Wallpapers, but not "Lock-Screen" / Start wallpapers. Yes, Lock-screen and Start Menu wallpapers are the same, but is there software which can change it periodically ?
Anyone? I want to know too!
there is:
"BG4allTAB" or "background for all tabs" which makes the home tab background picture background for all other tabs (at least in manila 2.1)-not lockscreen.
there`s also "Jmz Lockscreen Changer v2.0" which is background picture changer for wm6.5 lock-screen.
hope this helps...
Im using this software on my touch HD (wm6.5) but it should work on HD2 also
this is for manual changing of walls, not automatic (periodically).
Hi Guys, i searched the forum for a long time, but I did not find out, how to remove the weather animation from the homescreen? I just don't need it!
Thanks in advance, folks. Happy Holidays everyone

very easy.
when u want to change manila wallpaper (setting> personalize) , u have 2 option:
weather wallpaper
animated wallpaper
choose animated wallpaper and then select favorite wallpaper. now u have no weather animation in home screen.
i thought so, too, but there is still a little animation, right between my location and the alarm...
I noticed that too, I dont know if you would be able to remove that without installing some modded files - thats if there is a way to completely remove the weather animations at all.
If you would like a static, non animated wallpaper on your homescreen:
on the homescreen press menu (right softkey)
then press Home Wallpaper and finally press Animated Wallpaper. This will start HTC albums with three animated wallpapers in the directory. At that point, instead of selecting one of those three wallpapers press 'Albums' (right softkey), go to My Device or Storage Card and browse for the desired wallpaper.
The wallpapers used for the lockscreen are in My Device -> My Wallpapers. Those are static, no animations at all. You will still get the animation on the weather tab tho...
Hope this helps.
The only method to do this currently is to rename the WeatherService.dll entry in the registry to stop it from loading on startup. However, it comes with a few side effects.

the other option is to not update the weather. Click on the clock and add you city. Once this is done click on it and then just never update the weather and you will have no weather animation.
It's not an ideal solution but it works. Other than that use the animated wall paper like everyone else says

This won't stop the weather animation next to the clock and alarm.
it will if you dont update the weather as it doesnt know what to put there. you end up with this
Hi,
Nice Work
Weather thingy was right in the way in the middle of the screen!
Cheers,
Gavin
I wanted one of the weather wallpapers without the actual weather animation so i went into the folder with the weather wallpapers in and copied it into the folder with the animated wallpapers. This was then shown with the animated wallpapers allowing me to use a weather wallpaper without the animation. Animated wallpapers are located in Device/Windows/Animated Wallpaper. I can't actually find the weather wallpapers folder now. I know it's there somewhere but i can remember exactly where.
If you find the folder can you let me know cos it's annoying me that i can't find it.
Hi,
Weather is back in the middle on the screen and I can't shift it
Any ideas, please?
Cheers,
Gavin
On my TD2 I modded the 1c684cd8_manila (manila name: home.mode9).
Search for
Code:
<Property Name=Instance Name Value="Home_WeatherCom">
and add
Code:
<Property Name=Visible Value="False">
It removes the weatherfunction up to the displayed location name
And you can still use autoupdate and the weathertab
Edit: The attached CAB only works for Topaz Devices with WM 6.5 and Sense 2.1
Cab doesnt work for me, hd2 1.48 factory rom - T mobile.
remove weather animation
Hello guys. I am not sure if this will work on htc Leo, but I am using Leo ROM on my device and this work with no problem. Use Reg Editor :HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila] "Home.WallpaperMode"=dword:00000002

Just use the Demo. Hit menu on the today screen and then go to Weather Demo.
I don't have that option.
Hmm.. does it work on your weather tab?
No but its not a big deal. It seems to animate more when the battery is at a higher level. I will just wait when it snows or rains to show the cool animation.
Just open and close the task Manager in the upper right corner of the screen. If you're using the default background (or have weather set to animate with any background, like I do) it should animate with the current weather.

sorry guys!!!
is it possibile to have a full screen wallpaper (using HQ wallpaper patch) only in the home!!!
i have installed this cab and my home is very beautiful but now i don't read a sms and menus on colored background.
thanks guys
wich rom are you using, and what is your hometab?
Maxmanila, co0kie's hometab, another?
my rom is 1.66.408.1
my manila is 2.5.1921...
i use only hq wallpaper patch on my device and i edit my wallpaper in my computer with hdwall 0.28..
thank you for your help!!!
For only the stock rom with HD patch I'm not sure. At the moment I'm using Maxmanila hometab and then you can select to use a different homescreen background then rest of the menu. I'll try to look it up for you, but you may consider using the Maxmanila mod. Because I know for sure you can use it then.

If you are talking about the patch that makes the upper taskbar and the lower soft button bar part of the wallpaper so it is kind of full screen on Sense and Lock/Start menu, it is a system wide patch so it means it will appear on every screen.
Uninstall the patch and select the wallpaper in Manila settings. Then it will be displayed only on the hometab.... unfortunately you won't have the wallpaper in the taksbar and bottombar. You could recreate those two (top and bottom) images and set them in registry, but then they appear everywhere again.
For so far as I know these are the only options.
I am decorating my HD2 with gothic style wallpaper. I applied the same wallpaper onto the lock screen and home screen, the one on lock screen display perfectly with high resolution and detail, very sharp and bright. However the same wallpaper displayed on home screen is very poor in quality, blur, flat and not in the correct scale.
Is there any specific size i need to crop the wallpaper to inorder to have it display correctly on the home screen? Thanks

480 x 800
Search for HDWall, also apply HQ Wallpaper Patch for your Manila version.

Jive = work.
is that means simply cropping or creating a 800 x 480 px picture on photoshop will not display correctly when I set it as Home screen wallpaper on HD2? I change the wallpaper by going:
Menu > Home Wallpaper > Weather Wallpaper > (my wallpaper file)
Does it make a different if I had Cookies Home tab and editor installed? I am running a stock rom. Or it is a must to create the wallpaper with the HDWallS and install the HQ Wallpaper Patch for your Manila inorder to have it display correctly?
Thanks~
It doesn't matter the software you use to create a wallpaper, it just has to be 400x800 to fit the whole screen. After that you create a cab by using HDWall and it will make every tab with the same background, HDWall also makes the wallpaper from the top to the bottom (no curtains), remember, install HQWallpaperPatch (the right one for your manila version) to get high quality background in you screen.
Of course, when you have a .jpg or .png file you just copy it to My Documents/My Wallpapers (i don't know if that is the right name in English) and then from your Today screen you can go to Configuration -> Personalize -> LockScreen background and change to whatever you want.

Doesn't matter, when creating a cab with HDWall you don't need BG4All anymore, no need to uninstall.
Rgds,
thanks! I now have installed the patch and created the cab with HDWall. Home screen displayed the wallpaper perfectly now, though seems to be a bit complicate method to have it displayed correctly. Think I need to spend some time getting know HDWall to use it properly.
Is that means I will have to create the cab on a computer each time when I want to change the wallpaper and no alternative method to change it directly like other phones ususally do? Do I have to unstall the current cab before installing the new one?
thanks for your clear explaination. cheers!

No, you do not have to uninstall first, when installing another one your device will uninstall the previous one at first so no worries.
You can also try Bwizard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681341
Another possibilty is changing background wallpaper directly by going to Configuration -> Personalize -> Today Home Screen Background but this way it will only change your Today screen, when you want the same wallpaper in every tab you will have to install BG4All (search for it) and probably a couple of small applications to remove top and bottom curtains.
It's up to you, hope it all will help you.
Rgds,
