Cricket Touch Pro2 WAP/MMS *Plz Help, going crazy* - Touch Pro2 CDMA

have been desperatly searching for information on how to get a TP2 fully operational on Cricket for the last 4 days now.....tried different things in SSK kitchen but cant seem to get everything going....I have also tried
"http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=96040" by MarcSummerhays..but still no luck...I posted the issues i was having in his thread...
If anyone can help me out that would be great....or if anyone know of a good ROM that supports Cricket as a carrier that would be even better....
Thanks in advance for any info...

I am trying to get it done as well for Metropcs....let me know if you get some help as I will also. The process has to be the same..its just the Login and passwords are different.

The CDMA TP2 does NOT support AWS (UMTS 1700).
The only model that does is the T-Mobile US branded model.

Ok, know if one would be able to use the t-mobile version on Cricket and use it in both CDMA and AWS areas? (the TP2's all are both CDMA/GSM I have read)

The T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 is GSM/UMTS only.
It will not work on CDMA networks.

Are you sure on this? all the stuff I read says all version fo the TP2 have both GSM and CDMA... (at the sprint store, they even have a sim card spot.. they say is for international roaming)... I am sur you know more about this than me,... I am jsut hpeful that I could switch over to cricket.. and I am in a AWS area... CDMA doesn;t work here for it

Then you've been reading incorrect sources.
There is no CDMA only version of the TP2. There are however versions of the TP2 that do NOT support CDMA at all.
And none of the available TP2 variants support both CDMA *and* AWS in the same model.
Sure, there might be an engineering sample out there at HTC that does, but not one that you can buy at retail.
If you want CDMA, you're not getting AWS.
If you want AWS, you're not getting CDMA.

you can get mms working on cricket... you just need to know what you are doing.... I have created a 100% working rom for the mogul but havent tried yet on the touch pro2 because i havent got one yet..... trying to find one now..
The best place to start is here

then go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=447 <---- same as above... this is for the mogul but most of all the setting should be the same

there is a TP2 ROM over at PPCGeeks
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=105360
that works great for Cricket, as long it's a CDMA, you can also do MightROM and install one of RYANMOGUL Cabs thats what I do.

Answering the thread:
You can use any generic rom (i recommend Energy) and then just plop the ol' Cricket/Metro settings right on in there. I use PCAP to set proxy and just edit the network settings for My ISP. Then you just jump in message options and edit the Default CDMA Server settings to your network's MMS settings.
Freakin DONE!!!!!
If you use proxycap (PCAP) then you will not need to set proxy settings in the network settings under My ISP. Also, this allows for all apps to work through the proxy including outlook and more.

Anywho- I have long ago abandoned hofo. Let's not let this place become enough of a noob haven, with all the cricket/metro ppl looking for handouts, to become avoidable as well. Now that m-f is gone, they are everywhere looking to feast freely on other's hard work.

Unlocked T-Mobile phone on AT&T 3G?

I understand (I think) that T-Mobile uses different bands for its 3G than AT&T. So, my unlocked TP2 doesn't do 3G on AT&T's network.
My question is, can that be changed with a ROM? Are those frequencies embedded in software are hardware? I really like this phone and I'd rather keep using it than sell it and get an AT&T version when it's available (with the AT&T keyboard).
Thanks,
Shane
Unfortunately, can not be changed. It's radio hardware and of course sorftware support. You will need to get a ppc for the at&t for 3g bands...
One of the mods (GSleon3) has said that he can get 3G on his unlocked Fuze on t-mobile in the Raph rom forum, but it only works for a while, and if he soft resets the phone, it basically freezes and then he needs to do a hard reset. It can be done, but not well, I guess. I guess you're trying to go the other way. You may want to look up the thread, there does appear to be some hope (but very little, lol).

Sprint Touch Pro2 on PagePlus?

Can you activate a Sprint Touch Pro2 on PagePlus?
Mine is Security & SIM unlocked, currently using an AT&T SIM card. Wonder about combining it with PagePlus on the CDMA network. That doesn't use a SIM card does it? I switched my network setting to CDMA only, and activated my phone on PagePlus and was told to dial *22890 or *228, but it didn't do anything.
pageplus
Anyone know exactly what you have to do to get a Sprint Touch Pro2 phone to work on PagePlus?
they would have to add the esn or meid to their database and "accept" the phone. good luck soldier.

Don't waste your time. Ive been trying since the 13th to get VZW to add my ESN to their DB. your best bet is to do an ESN modification.
Page Plus will activate any unlocked CDMA phone. It can't be that difficult. Email their customer service and see what they say.
ACtivated but no data
Sprint Touch Pro2 now activated on PagePlus, but only text and voice. I've used EPST & QPST to alter settings, but can't get data.
Anyone successful at this?

No, I haven't done it. I activated a Verizon phone on Page Plus for a friend a while back, but that is the only experience I have with them.
Maybe put one of the cooked ROMs that is made for Verizon on your phone. That would essentially turn it into a Verizon phone, so I don't see what difference there could be.

I guess that is a possibility as both roms are CDMA. I would research it carefully beforehand. If you can get txt and voice there shouldn't be any reason you can't get data. sd

The Sprint TP2 (which the OP said he was using) is a CDMA/GSM world phone.
Which means it has a SIM card for the GSM radio in addition to an ESN for the CDMA radio.
Just because the phone takes a SIM card doesn't mean it is GSM only.

I've seen a couple posts on PPC Geeks where people have got Sprint Touch Pro 2's working on Verizon. I would imagine it's probably the exact same process to get it working on Page Plus.
Maybe you should search for people that got it working on Verizon. I would imagine you'll have better luck that way.

CDMA Touch Pro 2 with GSM?

Hey people, sorry if there is already a post for this but i'm a little confused about my phone. Is it possible for the verizon touch pro 2 to be used on GSM networks like AT&T? (I think its GSM) or overseas like in europe? A lot of people are saying yes and no, i just want some clarification.
Thanks. Just got my Touch pro 2 like 3 weeks ago and still figuring everything out. lol
The Verizon TP2 has both CDMA and GfSM, The phone is unlocked will work on edge band here in the states on T-Mobile and *((. Overseas without unlocking it will work on some 3G netwiroks depending the bands.
Yes to your question....
Verizon Wireless is not strictly CDMA; it too is GSM 850 in rural areas you expect AT&T to cover, and in fact T-Mobile has roaming agreements with on the 850 spectrum. It's not at all uncommon for VW to have GSM where it's bought a previous GSM territory as it did recently in both Alabama (Unicel) and Louisiana (Centennial Communications); both GSM 850.
ya. it will work. its a quad band phone. so you'll get 3g on t-mobile and att.
I got my SIM unlocked and threw in my buddy's T-mo SIM and made a phone call. The caller ID came up with his #.
yes i worked for me.. i used http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/ and it was a breeze.. im using a sprint touch pro 2... with Verizon firmware.. on the At&t network..
Only issues i have so far is my internet settings mess everyone once in a while and i have to reapplya At&t internet settings cab i have.. and i cant get 3g to work.. just Edge. and my MMS only sends.. i'm having issues with recieving MMS. Not sure if these issues are fixable but hopefully.

Hey guys, one quick question:
I'm interested in buying tis phone but sadly I cant seem to find one available in Toronto or Markham (Ontario) so i'm thinking of buying one from TELUS (CDMA) since i heard they are sim un-lockable.
This post is merely a request for re-confirmation about that ability.
Will I be able to buy the HTC Touch Pro2 from Telus and sim-unlock it to use on Rogers/Fido Networks? Any limitations/advantages?
Can Telus do that unlock for me or is it a DIY software method?
I'm sorry if come off somewhat noob in my question :x I'm not new to the phone development but I havent been involved in the scene for almost 2 years and jus wanted a nudge in the right direction
Seems like a fun phone, esp with the ability to dual-boot android (i hate wm6...lol). Thanks again

Yes there is one limitation. If you have the Rogers/Fido Id caller (7$ option), it will not work on the phone.
Instead of showing the caller name and number(even if he is not in your contacts), It will only show the Number.

i'm pretty sure there is nothing to fix. since are using someone elses sim it is assigned to their phone number. the only sim that would show with your number would probably be the one that came with the phone. (if it did come with one). i have no idea how it would grab your number from the cdma radio but i guess thats how the stock one knows your #. if you put a different sim in it, it will have a different number.

DO NOT put a gsm rom on a sprint touch pro2! your phone is cdma!
well i ran into this problem on my htc fuze that i put a custom rom on for rogers. caller id would only display the phone number and not name. after few days of searching i have found a (rilphone for rogers CNAP.cab this is gsm patch dont try on cdma phone wont work) patch for the radio just install from phone soft reset and caller id with name worked. But that was a gsm phone. i dont know if maybe can work on some radio cab patch that could get this to work as well. Just posting this to see if anyone is up for the challenge.

unfortunitly the sprint phone works off of a different type of network..
Sprint = CDMA
ATT = GSM
they are not compatable with each other..
how ever there is a member with a ATT touch pro 2, that needs a TP2 that works on a CDMA network... maybe you 2 can work something out and trade?

i suggest flashing a new rom if you hardspl on your phone and olipro unlocked your phone
did you unlock your phone yourself using the links here or sprint told you it's not locked? your phone is not locked for using outside the us but is locked from using us sims unless you unlocked it with the hardspl and olipro method mentioned. the process is spelled out on these boards and ppcgeeks. after that you need to add the att settings to connect to the internet. i'm sure you can find those settings here or ppcgeeks. i have not done this myself but i've seen enough links on the subject here.

Friend, you are going to be very happy.... go to this url for detailed instructions for using your sprint tp2 on ATT.
http://pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/unlock-the-sprint-touch-pro2-radio-to-get-us-gsm
It worked fine for me
Make sure you pull out any SD card and ensure your AT&T SIM card is installed throughout the process.
No 3G though no one seems to have defeated that roadblock yet.
Make sure you do not flash anything but Hard-SPL until you have succeeded. You might find you are already unlocked by booting the tricolor bootloader mode (power on with down volume depressed) and looking for olinex on the second or third line also look for "Security Unlocked" on the top, otherwise you need to sim and carrier unlock it. The link about gives you all the details.
Best of luck mate
Once you have flashed the radio described at the end of the video, remember to ONLY use CDMA ROMs, a GSM ROM can brick you even though you are using a GSM radio mode, only use ROMs specific for the Sprint CDMA, I recommend NRGs ROM for CDMA after they reboot they setup all your ATT settings for you. What more could you ask for?
Works for me as well, but I'm using the June 11th release of EnergyRom for CDMA phones.
Here's what I did:
1. Hard SPL unlock (free)
2. Flash the ROM of your choice, I used EnergyRom (free)
3. Do the SIM Security Unlock (~$20USD)
4. Then flash a World Unlocked radio to your phone (free)
Once you have a World Unlocked radio flashed, then you can pop in the SIM card of your choice, change the phone to GSM mode, then the phone will pop up a menu to provision settings for that network provider. The CDMA Touch Pro 2's do not have the bands needed to support 3G in the US, so you will be only on 2.5G Edge Net speeds.
Happy hacking

Thanks. I was afraid of that. Do you know of any reliable way to set APN's on jellybean or KitKat?
nTelos has LTE launched in a few markets, and now they are selling LTE devices in Richmond even though the LTE network isn't up. (Phones are running on 3G). In theory, if the device is unlocked, you should be able to put an nTelos LTE SIM in the device and it should work. (I went by my local Richmond store and got a SIM card for my iPhone 5 and upgraded my wife's S2 to a Moto X). I can switch the SIMs back and forth between the two devices with no issues. I am trying to find someone with an unlocked N5 here in my area to test my theory, but the only person I know who has one is on T Mobile, and we work opposite schedules, so it's almost impossible to meet up.

You might not have to wait as long as you think. nTelos has launched LTE in Bluefield and Bexley in WV. The person who I spoke with also said that the remainder of the network should be launched by EOY 2014. I saw on an investor relations report that the actual claim is 70% POP coverage. The rumor that the rep told me was hopefully June/July for LTE here in Richmond.

Once you do meet up, the T-mobile / Unlocked aspect shouldn't really be an issue as the T-mobile device is the same unlocked device that everyone else in North America has. So far, no locked N5's have turned up

Yep, but theory and practice are 2 different things
I do like the snap dragon 800 though, meaning there is only a requirement to have 2 devices worldwide. I'm pretty sure soon, qualcomm will be able to support more than the maximum 7 on one radio chip and maybe soon we'll start to see one worldwide device per release. That would be great. Until some other country decides to shun global standards and invents their own band

I'll keep you posted on the N5!

Well that's great. I just didn't figure we'd get anything soon because even AT&T doesn't have LTE here yet. I'm really hoping what you heard is true though. Thanks for keeping me updated. :good::laugh:

Does anyone here know anything about the regional carrier nTelos and its' CDMA network? I'd love to get the Nexus 5 but I'm not sure it'll work on my carrier.

I do. I am an nTelos dealer and flasher with my own flashing site going live as we speak. It can be done if you have CDMA workshop, otherwise I take mail-ins.
That's awesome! Link to your site? I'll check out when I can. I actually do have CDMA Workshop but no idea how to use it or what all I need to set up on the phone with it. I was afraid to go ahead and buy the phone because I didn't know if I could get it working.
Ok... So I had a friend attempt to try a Sprint variant of the N5 which he got at Best Buy... No dice. Couldn't figure out the carrier settings and it wouldn't make calls either. I tried a Play Store edition yesterday... Also, no dice. Same situation.... I have another friend that works at T Mobile that is going to grab one for me to try. I'm not giving up hope!!! I'm sure there is a way to get it to work, but when you go to network settings, if only allows you to connect to AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T Mobile and 311 660 which I think is Metro PCS. There has to be a way to change the settings to be able to recognize the nTelos SIM card. The N5 supports CDMA Band Classes 0/1/10 and LTE bands 2/4/25, which should cover nTelos.... Not sure if the device is domestically locked to those certain carriers, and the international version would be a better try (I think it is only GSM though), but if someone can brainstorm a work around, I'd love to hear it!
Ok... Here we go... I might have stumbled upon something here on XDA that might help us out. I'm still researching it, but I wanted to post my findings here so that if anyone else s interested in looking into it, you can. You may have already seen this, and someone here commented about CDMA Workshop, and that is involved, so maybe (s)he could chime in and give us a helping hand as well?
The first link I came across was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619312
This looks to be a trial and error guide. I MAY be able to get my hand on some of the files that may be needed with a little digging around and some schmoozing with nTelos employees, so we will see what happens.
I posted in that thread to see if it will only operate on CDMA, or if it will switch over to LTE when it goes live (as long as there is a sim card in it). Waiting on a reply, so hopefully we will hear something back soon!

Ok well good deal! I hope you can get it working. Little word of advice though, all the phones are the same. Sprint, Play Store, doesn't matter they're the same.
Ok, well, I have gotten my hands on a Verizon S3 (boo for the locked bootloader), and when I throw my nTelos SIM card it in, it works for talk and text immediately, which isn't surprising, b/c the device is unlocked. You do get the Non-Verizon SIM message in the notification bar though. Well, anyways, I was able to take my jailbroken iPhone 5 and use an APN editor and recover the APN settings for it. I entered those into the S3 and BLAM! It worked! Data kicked over immediately!
Now here's my thought process... The S3 took the SIM for talk and text without issue, while the N5 wouldn't even read for that.... Even though the N5 is supposedly unlocked, could it still be locked down to the bigger providers, and not allow a SIM card from a smaller carrier, such as nTelos? I have heard of rumors of AIO Wireless SIM cards working, but that is an AT&T MVNO. I haven't seen anywhere posted that someone from, say, Alaska Wireless, or Cspire, or Republic Wireless using the N5.
Now, if there's a way to "unlock" the device to work with additional carriers, that would be great, but I'm not sure where to start even looking for any of that information. most comments you read about the N5 state that it is unlocked to use anyone's SIM card, which obviously isn't true. The phone seems like it wants to pre-configure itself with the SIM card. I did see a thread somewhere that people are able to get the N5 to work on Straight Talk on LTE with redoing the APN settings.
I need to get my hands on another N5 and replace the APN settings with the nTelos LTE APN settings and see if that works. If I can get that done, I'll let everyone know!!!
Ok... Here we go again... I'm posting here more of a "think out loud" type of post. I was digging through the Nexus 5 Q&A thread, and I came across something that might help out. *#*#4636#*#* That is supposedly how you get into the settings for an LG device to be able to change it's network type. I'm wondering that since I missed doing that with the last one that I had my hands on, if that might be why it didn't read my SIM card. I went by my local nTelos store last night to see if it worked on all LG devices since they have the F7 on display. I was able to go in and change it while I was playing with the phone. Some of the settings completely borked the reception, which is what I was hoping, but others worked just fine. I'm going to try and go by a local Best Buy later today and try it out on a display model there to see what I come up with. I'll post back here once I figure something else out.
