Treo 680's Palm OS® 5.4.9 on the Treo 750v... I wonder, is it possible?
Maybe, I think that the 680 shares the same hardware...
The screen resolutions are not the same....WM is 240x240, Palm is 320x320.
Why on earth would you want to swap a new WM5 OS for an at least 5 year old PalmOS (basis PalmOS 5)

Second that question *ggg*
It is possible!
Actually, it's WM5 that has compatibility issues with 320x320 screen resolution, not the Treo hardware. Once again we can thank Microsoft for not having thought of this possibility.
Why do I want to swap it? Because as I suspected, it's twice as fast as the 650 with Palm OS on it and I am disappointed with WM5's performance on the 750v. Plus 240x240 is a step back as far as I'm concerned.
The 750v does take the Palm OS 5.4.9 on 320x320 and it's a breeze!

True WM5 doesn't support 320x320 but it does support 480x480 today which is pixel doubling from 240x240. Just because you want 320x320 today, don't slam MS, they were actually thinking forward with the resolution to future devices and screens. Read about it here if you want the MS perspective.

As for the 680, does it support UTMS? I was under the impression the POS was unable to support UTMS data networks...
The hardware between the 680 and the 750 are totally different. They only look similar.
Please let the Palm OS die...
I was playing with the 680 this week and they are not the same hardware. Its just the same shell, different screen res, memory card type, and the buttons are positioned differently.

Yes, but they were made at the same time. Like the 700's: W and P. If they could put UMTS in a Palm phone, they would have.
Treo 750v with Palm OS!
Is Palm OS really possible on Treo 750v?? Does someone know how to get there?
I have 750v in German and I need English on it...?
Have to say that after Treo 650, MS OS on 750v is crap and slow as rented mule!!!
Voilition - You want Palm OS on 750v ?
K.. I'll trade you my 680 for your 750v and you have what you need and I will too... Lemmeknow....

It is NOT possible and it will never be possible. They are different hardware.
If you want Palm OS apps on WM, just get Styletap. Best of both worlds.
http://www.styletap.com/
Styletap is quite primitive though.... its like one step back...
the appearance of palm app on styletap is horrible due to the 240/320 pixel alignment. I can imagine how bad it looks like for Palm OS on 750v hardware

I had the 650 and I now have the 750v and I can't say that the 750v is slow.
It always depends on the installed programs, if you install a lot of third party "crap", don't be surprised. Also try to keep your programs up-to-date, sometimes an update can do wonders to memory management.
As to Palm OS on the 750v: IMPOSSIBLE, completely different hardware. The Treo 680 has a pretty "basic" GSM part, nothing else. While the Treo 750v has a Quadband GSM phone and a Triband UMTS module. Difference is like day and night.
wtf are you talking about? tro 755p or whatever one that looked like the treo 750.....blue one, has the same hardware that treo 750 the same palm os 230x230 screen and perfectly works on treo 750,i have already tried it resulting in a new treo 755p, however you first have to remove and add some inner parts of the treo 755p to the 750, for the wich you better stay with wm 5 or 6 now....
Moved from: Palm Treo 750 > Palm Treo 750 ROM Development
To: Palm Treo 750 > Palm Treo 750
ive discovered why it works with my treo and no in others, it has nothing to do with resolucion its all the same, but the treo 750 its actually a wifi missing htc hermes rebuild, its basically a hermes with treo look and no wifi.....
I recently bought the Moto Q9c for Sprint on Ebay. It is running WM 6.0 . I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of a way to get WM 6.1 on this device. I am sure more of you have seen the Moto Q9h running WM6.1 on www.boygeniusreport.com. Is anyone working on a cooked WM 6.1 ROM for this device or would it not be worth it since Sprint will be releasing the update come summer 08?
The screen shots and videos of WM 6.1 make me want to use it really bad. Any knowledge would be appreciative.

I'm looking for the same thing... it seems there's a rom available here for the MOTO Q... Can't find anyone who actualy got it working on a Q9C yet.
I want wm6.1 really bad too!

Hey,
I would like to update an old Palm Treo 700WX to WM 6.5, but I was curious of the Hard SPL for the 750 will work. Are these essentially the same phones? Has anyone used this Hard SPL to update their OS?
I'm curious to know your experiences.
Thanks!
Hi,
I'm a little confused I have a German HTC Touch Pro and I asked HTC-support if it is possible to upgrade my WM 6.1 to 6.5 They denied it.
Is it possible?
Thanks for any comments
If You mean original WM6.5 OS, for Raphael, then it isn't possible right now, but...if You use cooked ROM (non-official) then it's possible, HTC support wouldn't recommend You this.
almost all the cooked roms are WM 6.5, the official one won't work but the cooked versions are better anyway imo......
Who wants official rom? only if my tp is broken& i need guarantee ;-)

in another thread titled "How to Flash Treo Pro," a poster wrote,
"Sprint has an official CDMA 6.5 ROM for the Palm Treo Pro, only if there was a GSM 6.5 ROM that was stable for the Palm Treo Pro.
I won't upgrade my Palm Treo Pro to 6.5 because I can see so many issues on the forum's and I cannot find a stock english 6.1 GSM ROM.
On the other hand, the O2 Atom was very easy to upgrade, and very stable."
Can someone verify this and, if so, show me how to obtain it?
Thanks,
quicknight

well that was me that made the statement, I hardspl my Treo Pro and tried all the 6.5 roms, there is really no benefit going to 6.5, slower and has annoying bugs... the only rom I did like was Heechee's Naked, but... all these roms have bugs with MarketPlace and Windows Live which I use.. so I reverted back to the stock 6.1 rom, and Marketplace and latest Windows Live works perfectly...
On the other hand, the O2 Atom Life made a huge difference in upgrading to 6.5, faster response, better battery life.. no bugs.. better UI experience...
On the Treo Pro it aint worth it... don't bother until there is a stable rom out...

thanks for the reply. I don't really use Marketplace or windows live (bing?) so that wouldn't really bother me. So, then, is the O2 Atom Life the "official Sprint ROM?"

No, both my windows mobile phones are GSM, the O2 Atom is not official rom, the last official rom for the O2 Atom Life was WM6.
The O2 Atom Life uses a rom created by bajok he is on the forums here...
