Installed the app via the android market and did backups with it before updating my X10i.
But after the update of the phone i cant find this app in the android market place.
But if i got a hold of the apk file and download it to my pc i would be able to put it on the memorycard and install with astro, Am i right?
Yes you are right. or use adb without even transferring it to your phone
The exact name of the app and dev of it?
Protip: goto appbrain top search market
It´s called: MobileHome Backup
I cant post a link to it since i´m a new user here..
I can find the app on the page appbrain and in the appbrain app.
But when i try to install the app it says: There´s no matches in the android market for the search: pname:mobilehome.backup
What to do?? Can i get a hold of the apk file in any other way?

Hi
Look for "sms backup & restore" in the android market to save your messages.
full version?
Hi sijum,
Is that the full version of Handy backup?
Thanks for sharing that.....
Hi everybody,
In the cyanogenmod 9 v4.0.3 v1.1 thread, the OP says "Do not recover a backup over this ROM. In case you do ROM will fail and you will have repeated apps...". I was wondering if he's talking about the non system apps .apk or only the data of them. I'm asking this question to know if I can restore my apps with Titanium Backup after have installed this ROM or if I will have to dowload them again in the market and lost all my data.
Thx for the help and sorry if it's a noob question, first post anyway thx for the help
I have never run into any problems restoring app data only on downloaded apps. I avoid restoring the full apps via TB if I can. The only system data I restore is my WiFi access points.

thx I can wait to flash this awesome ROM
I moved from CM7 to CM9 with clean install + restoring apps/data from Titanium Backup. Some data got lost like sms or wifi accesspoints but I can live with it.
Hello, I recently rooted my Samsung galaxy s captivate and have been reading up on the flashing of custom roms ( planning on getting serendipity 9). Any ways, I was just wondering, when I back up my current rom, after installing the new one, is there any way to restore the content without restoring the whole rom?
backup

When you talk about your APPS....please use titanium backup...it always works.
Yes, Titanium backup is great. Although one downside is that you need to root your phone before you can make a full backup. So you would first have to root the stock ROM, make a titanium backup, then flash a new ROM, then restore the backup.
Mybackup root is good for SMS and call log.

Im already rooted and I have the titanium backup free version. I don't see anywhere that I can make a full backup just individual apps and info ( sorry for being duh an android noob, I'm used to jailbreaking iPhones which is child's play)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe u need the paid version to back up batches. Free is individual apps but I may be wrong

You can batch backup in free version but u need the paid version to batch restore. Free version only allows u to restore one app at a time.

On titanium backup, select backup/restore, after a short delay, top right look for an icon that looks like a sheet of paper, with a tick , select it, the next page look to see where it says backup all user apps n data, think it seems second or third option in the backup section.

Those are saved onto the SD card, no need to backup those (unless you really want to). Wiping the phone before a flash does not wipe the SD card.

Download Super Backup (contacts, sms, call logs ) and App Backup & Restore from Play Store free. These two apps work even though you are UNROOTED.
Hi All,
I've been trying to find some spare time to work on a new version of AppExtractor and I'm to a point where I'm looking for testers / feedback.
AppExtractor is a tool which will allow you to restore individual applications, data, SMS, and MMS messages from your nandroid backups.
The new version of AppExtractor supports CWM 6 backups (which restores faster than other backups), CWM 5, and TWRP. I have also updated the UI and some other tweaks to hopefully speed up restoring from backups.
If you are interested, please give this new version a test drive and let me know what you think and any issues that you run into.

Thanks!
-Andy

Sorry - I'll update the OP... AppExtractor lets you extract apps/data/settings from your nandroid backups (CWM, TWRP).

I tried it, doesn't seem to be able to restore data though. Kudos for being able to read from the CMW6 backups in the first place .... It would be great if it was possible to restore individual apps' data though, it's most of the purpose of such a utility. Oh, also it couldn't restore nether my sms nor my phone data either...
Okay I have been unable to restore SMS/MMS using the app. At first I thought it was only related to CWM and the new Backup file system Koush went to (which he changed again), so I dumped CWM for TWRP which I thought would fix the issue. Turns out I was wrong when restoring from a TWRP SMS/MMS restore says it completes but the message list is still empty (even after a reboot).
Any thoughts on a fix.
thanks for your work on this.
Using on a CWM 6 recovery Samsung S3 4g, had to manually change card location to extSdCard and then it found the backup. Sadly once it finds it, it opens the backup up but can't see anything inside it. Will wait for further updates.
Let me know if you need more info etc.

You are right, so there is only one application that supports CWM v6 backup format, and this application is called nandroid manager.
It's here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.bkrestore&hl=fr
Currently version 1.1.2
There is some issue with it:
There is no feature to restore contact
The feature to rename (the pen icon) is breaking the restoring through CWM afterwards, because the md5 checking script is based on the original folder name
For me Restore call logs was not working at all
Not sure Restore wifi was working, same for bluetooth.
Restore Home screen not supported yet, and for which launcher?
Hello everyone...
First of all, i'll like to apologise if this thread is already in existence cos i dont really know how to search through over thousands of thread created. I love trying out types of custom rom i feel wld be great. But everytime i install, i'll have to start installing my apps (backed up apk's) manually. Could anyone help me with any app which i can use to backup installed apps so after flashing a new rom, would just have to restore the backup which would install all app and its settings instead of doing it manually all from the start. i googled and downloaded an app Nandroid Manager but i dont figure how to use it.. It wont set a backup location. Any help???

Not very familiar with nandroid back up but i am using titanium backup(buy it, worth every penny), it give u option to both backup your app+data.
I think the free version has the same option.
There is also this app. i used recently on a game(pudding monsters) and it restored the app with the data.
Try both and see which works best for u.
+1 Titanium Backup do it well even free version
You can also do it yourself by doing a copy paste of your data/app folder
Titanium is the best way you can choise

This can be done by two way
1) Titanium Backup - This will ensure all your app and data will be restored on new ROM in single click
a) Backup all user app+data of old ROM
b) Create a Update.zip through Titanium backup app
c) Flash the Update.zip through Recovery (Post installation of new ROM) and enjoy :good:
2) Nandroid backup - By using this option , entire ROM can be backed up (App,Data everything as on date). However this can be use only if you are going back to experience the same ROM again.
1) Through Recovery take the backup of entire ROM
2) Through Recovery restore
3) If you are on S-ON then post restore flash the boot.img manually by using Fastboot command before rebooting the phone. It is must to do step or else phone will be trapped in bootlap
I always ensure following before installing a new ROM
1) Back up of Contacts, SMS/MMS and Call logs by using My Backup Pro app
2) Creating the Update.zip file of all user app+data as on date so nothing can be missed out (Not even save games of Temple Run)
And if I want to go back again to the earlier ROM then I used Nandroid backup. Which reduce a hell lots of efforts.
