This is for the people that already have Cyanogen 4.2.3.1 and Nav working.
Download the Cyanogen update and place it on your SD card.
If you use the Dark Dream theme, download that also and place it on the SD card.
Reboot phone to Recovery partition and connect it to your computer.
Make a nandroid backup to have just in case.
Run 'apply zip' and apply Cyanogen's update and then the theme if you have that. (The latest Dark Dream version is 1.2)
DO NOT REBOOT PHONE YET
Download my 2 files and place them where you have access to adb. (i did not have my paths installed for the SDK)
Go to terminal on your computer. I did this on a mac, but it should work regardless.
Run the following commands:
./adb remount
./adb push build.trout.prop /system
./adb push build.sapphire.prop /system
Now select on the menu to reboot the phone and wait for it to reboot.
Enjoy your Cyanogen Mod 4.2.4 with Nav working
Very nice. Do you know if this works using the Cyanogen port for 32A Magics?

what features does it include?
yah its a build off cy's just more stuff like an easy way to format your sd without so much work to do it and thats a big key
confirmed more features! but no option to boot into terminal!
thats a no no! back to cy 1.4
well its new.. maybe someone can work off this. to add the terminal.
after all it was based for the mt3g but works with g1
Indeed new features
Agreed with drizzy i will switch back to cyan but for those of you who will ask in a matter of time you can flash this from your terminal by
1. put image into root of sdcard
2. open terminal and type in the following
a. mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system (press enter)
b. cd sdcard (press enter)
c. flash_image recovery recovery-RAv1.2.1G.img (press enter)
would be great recovery if had console.
It's a real nice recovery based off of cyanogen's 1.4 so maybe he can add console and make 1.5 for us real easily
yeah i like how it includes the farmat of sd automatically which alot of people like just need terminal so yeah
This is where it came from!

did anyone try it to see if it works, and if its worth upgrading?
since there is a way to utilize this without flashing it to your phone it would be a great way to quickly partition an sdcard. especially for all the noobs over at the Q&A thread who for some reason cannot type a few commands into the recovery console
if it had an option to format just ext3 and swap id be down...but I dont wanna have to clear out my fat32 all the time.
I created this recovery specifically for the Sapphire => no keyboard!
The fact that the Sapphire doesn't have a keyboard is the only reason why I didn't include any keyboard related stuff like the terminal...
My original recovery was created so people could root their 32A Sapphire (the code was based on the AOSP cupcake release).
After Cyanogen's improvements I decided to build further on his recovery source code and make it more "Sapphire friendly", hence the one-click options.
I'm not really planning to release a specific recovery for the Dream (including keyboard options + terminal) because my 32B version will boot on the Dream anyway...
Amon, just want to thank you for your work ever though it was not meant for us g1 users it would be a great help to all the noobs to have it, just for the ease of it for them
hm add a feature to wipe ext3, boot into parted, and add terminal and this is a keeper.
Hello. I am sick from school today and decided to make a thread to help out some people.
DOWNLOADS ARE BELOW(AT THE BOTTOM!!!)
All of these steps are posted on TheUnlockr.com in a Video but The video is for the GSM version. The difference is just the recovery image. (http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/)
Ok lets get started.
This method works on all Sprint phones with updates. I am not sure how long this will last unpatched.
First YOU HAVE TO HAVE ADB WORKING!!!
Download my zip file if you do not want to download the entire SDK.
1)After it is downloaded, extract the files to C:\Windows\System32\
(you can copy and past the file-path)
2) Now pickup your phone and go into Settings-Applications and Enable Unknown Sources then from there go into Development and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled.
3) Now connect your phone to your computer and open up command prompt (Start-Run(or search) cmd.exe.
4)When it is open type: ADB Devices.
You should see your'r phone's serial.
Now download flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2.apk (the download is below)
1) Copy the file to your sdcard.
2) Download any File Manager from the android market.
3) Go to your Sdcard in the file manager app on your phone.
4) Press flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2.apk
Let it install.
5) When it is complete, go to your apps drawer and open the Recovery Flasher app.
My method requires you to have a recovery image before root.
6) In the recovery flasher app, Press Backup Recovery Image
7) Let it work. You may have to try twice for Success.
8) Now Mount your phone back on the computer and replace the recovery-backup.img with the recovery-backup.img on this thread(MAJOR thanx to Amon_RA)
9) Now unmount your phone and go back into the Recovery Flasher app on your phone.
10) Now press restore and let it flash recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img(Amon_RA's Sprint custom recovery image)
YOU NOW HAVE A CUSTOM RECOVERY IMAGE!!! WOOT WOOT
the work is still not done.
Download the Superuser.zip(http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=211569&d=1249225060 or in the downloads below) and extract it to your Sdcard
Now go into your new recovery image (power off the phone and then power it on by holding the Power and Home buttons)
Connect your phone to a computer and run command prompt.
IN COMMAND PROMPT TYPE:
Code:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
mount /system
cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
cp /sdcard/Superuser.apk /system/app/
reboot
(you can copy and past the code into command prompt from the thread)
Download the Better Terminal Emulator app from the market and type:
Code:
$ su
if you get a
Code:
#
then...YOU NOW HAVE ROOT!!
now you can install custom ROMs and root-required apps

Rooted my Transform and went in to the superuser APK.... I'm disappointed that it has very limited content vs. my buddies HTC EVO. I'm new to Androids, but anyone know if there would be a way to port the superuser APK from the HTC EVO to the Samsung Transfrom, or is it even Feasible?
Can you go into more detail on how you rooted your Samsung Transform. I have tried SuperOneClick but the root never sticks. I would lose superuser randomly.
I just rooted with Super One Click, now, i dont know what to do with it lol. It sticks with me though.
No need for a superuser port. Just download from the market after rooting
via skeeterslint sdx:
Heres is a one click recovery installer for people that don't want to do it by hand.
http://www.mediafire.com/?jl21knp1d0lbf17
This is a still beta but working version of SDX Recovery version 3.1.1.
Things known to work.
Backups and restores.
Clearing dalvik cache.
Clearing cache partition.
Flashing kernel zImages.
Flashing zip files.
Adb works in recovery.
Also mounting the sdcard to your computer works.
Anything else in the options is still in need of testing I am not responsible if your phone gets bricked.
THIS MAY BRICK ALL PHONE MODS YOU DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!
OK now that thats out of the way heres the files needed.
1. http://www.mediafire.com/?862j3wlzftenwef This is the recovery image.
2. http://www.mediafire.com/?67an7lkm9qtmf5b until there is a custom recovery you will need this program to flash recovery. Its called flash_image.
3. http://www.mediafire.com/?5dcv3r14sjvsfdq rage.bin temporary exploit to get root.
4. You will also need the Android SDK so you have a working adb to be able to push files over to your phone.
If you are flashing this from a phone running my rooted kernel you can skip steps 4 and 7 and just su over to a root prompt.
OK these are the steps to install this recovery.
1. Make sure adb is installed and working there are how to's on the forum to get this setup or just use google.
2 adb push recovery.bin /data/local/tmp to move the kernel to the phone.
3 adb push flash_image /data/local/tmp to move flash_image onto the phone.
4 adb push rage.bin /data/local/tmp to move rage.bin onto the phone.
5. Run adb shell to get to a shell prompt on the phone.
6. Run chmod 755 on flash_image and rage.bin chmod 755 rage.bin chmod 755 flash_image.
7. Run ./rage.bin and let it go run through untill it exits you out of adb.
8. adb shell you should now have a root shell on the phone.
9. Run ./flash_image recovery recovery.bin to install the kernel.
Once its installed to get into recovery use Volume down Camera and power to get into recovery.
Volume up and down scroll through the option.
Menu should be the enter key.
Back button is back.
Search key is delete.
You will need to create the directorys on your sdcard that recovery needs to flash zip files make backup and flash kernel and recovery from.
Create directory called sdx on the root of the sdcard and inside it create 3 folders zips update and backup.
At this time it seems that factory restore is not working correctly and anyone else can confirm please let me know.
And for better recovery via vampirefo on sdx:
his is my first recovery, I made the change to the first screen to show that this is a transform recovery rather than a moment recovery. Also I got console to work in recovery, it wont rotate but works just fine.
http://www.4shared.com/file/bBTlN7UZ/recoveryrfs.html
You can flash this via swupdate, or if you already have skeeters recovery installed, just extract recovery.tar to /sdcard/sdx/updates
boot to recovery
Scroll down to
Backup, Restore, Flash
Scroll down to
Flash Recovery
After flash is complete
press back button
Under Reboot options choose Reboot to Recovery to see new recovery
I installed ClockworkMod Recovery and I get to the step where I mount the USB storage. On the computer, the storage space is only about 3 mbs. Not big enough to copy the zip file to it. Where I'm I going wrong here? I can't get to the next step which is install zip from sdcard because it comes up to small.
I couldn't figure out why usb storage didn't work right on my computer. I install Rom Manager and got 1.3.2 to install that way. A very nice program. Thanks to all.
Just make sure that you copy the files over from your sdcard to sdcard 2 so they can be seen on rom manager. I was trying to do a restore from rom mananger using a nandroid back up that i created and it wasnt there. Then i went into root explorer and moved the back ups to sdcard2 and waaala LOL.

Big Thanks to everyone in here
I am a total noob when it comes to the Xoom only got mine 2 days ago! But thanks to everyone here I am now enjoying an unlocked and rooted Xoom Kudos to all the devs who made it possible! Great work on the ClockworkMod Recovery by the way and all the instructions on how to do things! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more custom stuff.
i just did the one click root to my xoom and it had Tiamat version 1.1.6.
I got "Root my Xoom" from this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011196
-I used RootMyXoom w Unroot
So after looking around, I have to use a terminal emulator to bring my kernel up to date (V 1.3.2)
I have 2 questions,
1, I'm guessing i can not just flash the new kernel using Clockwork since my xoom doesn't recognize my SD card.
2, I've found the txt i need to enter into a terminal emulator (or so i think) but where do i save the new kernal to? the root of my internal memory? do i leave it zip'd? do i unzip it?
For 1.3.1 and prior. Depricated.
Code:
Code:
1. Reboot into the bootloader by running:
adb reboot bootloader
2. Flash the boot image to your boot partition, then boot back into Android by running:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
3. Push the bcm4329.ko, scsi_wait_scan.ko, and any other modules to your /system/lib/modules folder and reboot.
adb remount
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
adb push tun.ko /system/lib/modules/tun.ko
adb push scsi_wait_scan.ko /system/lib/modules/scsi_wait_scan.ko
adb push cifs.ko /system/lib/modules/cifs.ko
adb push vold.fstab /system/etc/vold.fstab
adb reboot
NOTE: Special Instructions for 1.3.1
You have to manually make a new directory called "sdcard2" inside "sdcard" prior to flashing. Either use your file explorer of choice or...
Code:
Code:
adb shell
mkdir /data/media/sdcard2
exit

I have the Kernel zip saved on my 16gb sd card, i did it through my laptop and my xoom doesn't see it... (if that helps or tells you anything...)
any help would be awsome!!
anyone having trouble, there is a VERY good tutorial over at xoom forums.
I tried to post the link but i'm too new and the forums won't allow it...
i just bought a xoom today and i have obtained root. i am looking to use my microSD slot and update to 3.1 and over clock using tiamat 1.4.4. i am no even able to find out how im suppose to flash the 1.3 kernel so i can use the sd slot to update to 3.1. i copied th kernel to the xoom using a drag and drop in "my computer" and then use rom manager to flash it but it says "update aborted". i dont know what to do. i know how to use adb so i dont fear it but can someone help with this problem? maybe a walkthrough? thanks for your time.
hi
do you have clock recovery then reboot in to recovery then install zip from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard and there you go choose the zip file and you done....
TRY THAT
Install Instructions:
***Prior to flashing you must create a folder named sdcard2 inside of the existing sdcard folder.***
Download and unzip the file below. Make sure you place all 6 files in the path you are running commands from.
The following install instruction are to be executed in adb. The red text represent the command that needs to be entered.
adb reboot bootloader
Xoom will reboot into bootloader screen
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
Xoom will then reboot into homescreen
adb remount
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
adb push tun.ko /system/lib/modules/tun.ko
adb push scsi_wait_scan.ko /system/lib/modules/scsi_wait_scan.ko
adb push cifs.ko /system/lib/modules/cifs.ko
adb push vold.fstab /system/etc/vold.fstab
adb reboot
Xoom will then reboot and if all went well, you can now overclock to 1504 via Droid Overclock or SetCPU.
Please note- After you have flashed the kernel you must insert the SD card and reboot for files to appear.
i did....that's why I'm trying to figure it out. Its saying the update is aborted. I don't have access to the SD slot because its disabled so I camt put it on the SD card.
where do i get the 6 files that i should be downloading for that walkthrough?
