I have an XDA (Wallaby) purchased from 02 in Germany and while I appreciate the tremendous knowledge on this board I am just a simple user who was directed to this site by 02. All I want to do is change my PDA/XDA from the German OS to an English OS. German 02 says they can't do it and I need to come to this site. I am not a computer guru, just a "little women", working for the government and I have this device which I can not use. Is there some type of download which I can use to make this device usefull in English or should I invest in an airplane ticket to Great Britan and see if they can fix it? As I stated, I appreciate all the knowledge on this site but I do not speak PC comuterize real well as I was raised on Macintosh. Plese be gentle to my request. Thanks very much for any assistance which you may be able to provide

Nice idea. Just taking a flight to Great Britian to get an english ROM on your device....
Therefroe it will be much cheaper sending the device to me, i will flash it, and will send it back. (should be about 15 Euro).
But i think it's not necessary.
Just download an english ROM from the xda-developers site or cook your own ROM on my ROMkitchen in exe format. Make a hard reset of your device and reconnect it to your PC via Active sync. (as guest is enough) Than run the exe. (Under some circumstands it may be required that you alos use the adaptrom-tool). Check the wiki site for downloading and what it does....
After flashing have finisehd you have to do again a hard reset.
Afterwards your device is english.... ;-)
Enjoy it.

Hi All,
A few weeks ago I downloaded a small brilliant and useful programme off the net for my XDA2s used for discovering wifi sites in different towns.
I was able to tap in the town In the UK and it would come back and tell me the local sites available (not neccessaraly to connect me) .It appeared many of the towns in the UK were covered.
For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the software and I inadvertantly discarded it....but now wanting to put it back on my XDA2s.
Can any of you knowledgeable guys help me out with the name of the pprogramme I wonder ?...........and of course where I download from ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards to you all and thanks for a great site.

WiFiFoFum?

I thought so initially but I cannot see anywhere in that programme where you enter the names of a uk town unless I am missing something?
Thank you for the reply incidently.

Hello,
I'm new on this forum, and first of all I must say that I am amazed by things I saw.
Now, the question:
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO CHANGE MY WINDOWS MOBILE ON MY QTEK 9000?
The thing is, I got it as a gift, and considering that its my first WM PDA (I used only symbian and Linux PDAs and never WM for longer period then few days tests).
Now, problem is because it is on French (and I don't know a single word on French) so I need to change it back to English.
I would be really greatfull to you if you could tell me what programs I need to download and install (post a links for them if possible) and which ROM is best.
It is 18 months old so batery isn't very good (I havent tested it yet because I can not operate it on French ) so please take that as a option when you propose me something.
Also, I will use it mostly as a communicator for internet access (GPRS and WiFi) e-mails, chat programs and less for calls and messages so take that as a option too.
All I need is a communicator which can provide me access to my mails and internet and manage to last one day ona one batery charge (I mostly use GPRS, I know that WiFi uses more power)
Once more, THANK YOU and I hope that someone of you will help me to meke this beauty runabe for me.

And I would recomend THIS rom. Be aware WM 6.x doesn't have a fully working video call though. So if thats your thing then stick to WM 5.0. Otherwise WM 6.0 is streets ahead. One last tip is read the Universal WiKi well first, it saves a ton of questions later.
Have fun
Jay
P.S. welcome to the forum
Thank you all... but I've been reading aboru this bleck edition ROM and I see lot of people are complaining on it (especialy on BT, WiFi and GPRS which is important to me)
So please put me a link to a normal clean ROM (WM5 od WM6 I don't care as long as it is reliable and debugged, manufacturers ROMs also if you have)
Dear listers,
I'm a new member to this great web site, as I'm about to get a new contract with T-Mobile with a HTC Touch HD cell phone; I've been told that it comes with 8GB MicroSD and Route 66 Software.
The main problem before I can go on with the contract is that the HTC cell phones available for subscribers in Holland are usually only in Dutch; as I'm not comfortable with the Dutch language, I either have to re-install the Win Mob 6.1 Professional available on my cell-phone to an English version or use some sort of English shell or middleware. I also have to make sure that the Route 66 or any other Navigation software that I can get access to through Internet will work on the new environment.
1- Where can I download (for free) a copy of the Win Mob 6.1 or 6.5 Professional?
2- Is it easy to re-install the operating system? Will I encounter any issues or problems like some software won't run or some important factory configurations will be lost?
3- What is the procedure to follow? Download the OS into my notebook and then what?
4- Do you know Navigation software that I can download instead of paying for my Route 66 software? How about TomTom? Is there any version available and downloadable for Touch HD?
I really appreciate your kind support and cooperation. Hope I can also be of any help in the future as soon as I'm getting my new phone and becoming an active user.
Best wishes,
Freddy from Holland
