If you are dealing with a smartphone with Windows 6.1 installed, you may want to try the unlock the Jack method. This may work if you are dealing with a tier two security. It probably won't work if you are dealing with a full lock:

It won't exisist if your ICS is not locked. The ForceCellConnection is a registry setting that is implemented by carriers to lock out wap from being used as a tethering method. Do not worry about it if it is not there. The key is, were you able to install the clearsecurity cab and lower the security settings using the Security Configuration Manager?

If that is the case, the Security Configuration Manager will install a tool cab that will allow you to set the security lower when you make the attempt to do so. One tier promp will allow you to install whatever you want, but will prompt you do so with unsigned apps. Security off will install any app without prompts. When you are done setting the lower security, go to remove programs and uninstall a program that is Mobicontrol. This is what the clearsecurity cab installed. You won't need it anymore and if you don't uninstall it, it will drain your battery.

I have installed the new iMate rom to my T-Mobile SDA(US) and have the following observations.
Push Email is working well.
Screen fonts not as crisp as original T-Mobile.
I believe the OS is overall slower.
Don't see A2DP.
Camera and Video work well.
I'll keep testing and keep this thread updated.
Do you know where I can find instruction on how to backup my original T-Mo rom? I'd like to load the sp5m rom but I want to make sure I have a backup. Also, which filename did you use, there seem to be sever roms for sp5, sp5m and two versions for the sp5m at that!

Here is what I recall, I'm by no means an expert.
To start, you will need a 64MB mini SD card minimum.
I had to application and SIM unlock the phone. You can find good info at http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/Main_Page
Disable ActiveSync under File/Connection Settings by unselecting "Allow USB connections".
With the phone off, press and hold down the camera button while attaching the USB cable from your computer. This should bring up the 3 color bootloader screen on your phone.
Use mtty.exe on your computer and select USB to connect. After connecting type:
r2sd all
This should back up your original rom to the mini SD card. This action will COMPLETELY REFORMAT AND ERASE YOUR SD CARD. I'd suggest copying everything off of it to your HDD in ActiveSync.
This is where it gets gray for me. There is supposedly a way copy the image from the SD card to your PC and back using itsutils utilities called psdpread.exe and psdwrite.exe. You have to know or figure out the size of the image on the SD card and the instructions were not intuitive to me. At this point I am leaving the card out of my phone until I decide whether or not to stay with the iMate rom. I did confirm that I can use the card to reload the T-Mo rom. With the card in the phone, load up the bootloader as described above. When it first comes up, it will ask you press the volume slider to load from the card. I worked for me.
I get Vendor ID error
What was required to load the ROM on your T-Mobile US branded SDA? I keep getting a Vendor ID error ( I assume the same as the old country code error on the XDAs). My phone is application and sim unlocked.
Thanks.

I had to use what I believe is referred to as the Super CID unlock. It is one of the options in the SPV-Services app I got from the URL referenced in the first post. I was very leary to use it because I couldn't find any documentation about how to revert back if desired. I haven't had any issues since I set it to "11111111". I only hope that it won't prevent me from using the official T-Mo AKU2 release when it comes out.
Thanks
Thanks. In the time between our posts, I came to the same conclusion. The upgrade is proceeding as I type.

Hmm sounds like something I would like to try. Thanks for all the good info, I have a 256 MB sd card on the way from New Egg to use exclusively to back up my rom (didn't want to waste my 2gigger .

The following thread has some info on backing up the rom. Scroll down to a post by Genesis3. He is referring to a different terminal emulator (terraterm), but it works the same as mtty. Both of these just open up a terminal session to your phone. Genesis3 is discussing a different platform, but you will get the idea.

You have to kill wcescomm.exe in the Windows Task Manager (ctl-alt-del keys brings it up), look for wcescomm.exe, stop the task. This will eliminate the error you are getting. Then Run the 'SPVServices.exe' file on your PC - it will communicate with your phone via activesync. Please note that this file connects to a remote server to do the unlocking calculations, so requires an internet connection. It's been reported that if you have IE7 (beta 2 in my case) installed, it might not work; I have IE7 B2 installed and all worked fine. On the SPVServices tool menu, click the CDI box, it will update your ID to 11111111 (now all is unlocked) then you can do the mtty.exe to backup up your ROM to a miniSD card. I have a word document I've written for myself that outlines some of these pieces and bits and parts I've read on various forums. Email me if you want the Word Doc file.

I believe that message is displayed if you have not yet CID unlocked your phone. Did you use SPV Services to unlock it?
i have done these two procedures:
http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/HTC_Application_Unlock_Guide
and
http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/HTC_Smartphone_SIM_Unlock_Guide
than I tried mtty.exe but... :-(
have I forgot something?
There's an application called SPV-Services in one of the links above. It has an option for Super CID unlock.
First you have to use a file explorer program like resco explorer then
Go to the root of your device then tap on a file called windows
when you get there scroll down until you see something that says "enterbotloader" tap on it and wala youre there.
-rim
if this is true, why would it be useful? SR and the camera button is easier than navigating the file structure.
Plus, the host OS would probably still be running, and that would be problematic.

Or you could try to flash your phone without the proper Hard Spl, just don't plan on leaving bootloader
Edited--DaveShaw gave better information.
You can get the file from the CustomRUU.
Run the custome RUU then check the folder where it lives. Enterbootloader.exe will be there.
You can just copy to your device and run it (that's what the RUU does )

When flashing a rom. from what i understand this file gets copied over via AS first and then the unit is booted in to bootloader mode.. Could this be used to bypass that step on a computer without AS? or when AS won't connect for some reason?

If AS won't work, you can flash via SD Card.
Otherwise you still need AS to flash the ROM from the NBH file on disk to the SPL bootloader.

I'm running Windows Phone Mango 7.5 (7.10.8107.79) on my HTC HD7 and now I'm fully Interop Unlocked. My firmware is 2250.21.51004.401 and I received an update available (firmware 2250.21.51101.401 from HTC). I read this firmware update does not break Interop Unlock, but makes less privileges to some apps (I don't know which). My question is ONLY if I can still explore (and edit/copy) my system files using Windows Phone Device Manager (last release) or not. Please I need an answer! (Did someone try to explore files with this firmware revision?)

Exactly, Now I can copy whatever file I want to copy from and to the phone. So you answer..? After this update, can I still do it?
Don't update to any new HTC firmware updates, it will disable your interop unlock. Ignore it at all costs.
@sinister1: This is incorrect. It will disble many (pretty much all) of your apps that use interop-unlock (although *.*.51004.* has already crippled most of them), but it does not impact interop-unlock itself.
PLEASE do not mix what interop-unlock is with what apps that require it can do.

I'm not sure what system files you're asking about, to be honest... it's possible to read the \Windows folder (and that won't change) but it's not (on my system) possible to write to it using WPDM.

With "sytem files" I mean all the files I can't "normally" access (Windows folder, "Applications" folder). With new firmware can I still do it?
TouchXperience is not, at least on my (interop-unlocked) HD7, even a ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES app. It's not using the firmware drivers, just Microsoft's APIs. A firmware update is extremely unlikely to modify anything that TX or WPDM can do.
That said, if you specify a specific thing that you're trying to do, and ask if it will still work, I'd be able to give you a more concrete answer.

Oh yeah, sure (for sideloaded apps only, I assume you mean). That's a standard feature of the OS, intended to allow developers to modify the storage of their apps for testing purposes. You can use other tools, including one of Microsoft's own downloads, for that purpose.
I don't consider those "system" files at all though; they're data files installed by the user. If you can actually directly change the system files in any way using WPDM, that would be news.

You read this ?
FIX TRANSLATION OF CAMERA SETTINGS
When you're on MANGO and you added new languages, you may find that the camera-settings are incomplete. This is not a problem with the update-process. Actually, the translations of these setting are simply missing from the official update-packages. These settings are also missing when you do the official update through Zune. To fix this, a couple of XDA members manually translated these settings (see this thread). The translated XML files are attached in the file CameraSettingsTranslations.zip. You have to select the XML files that correspond with the language-packs you've added. You need to move these files to the \Windows folder on your device. To do this, you can use the programs DiagProvXml and Isolated Storage Explorer. Full instructions for copying the files to the \Windows folder can be found here.

Try searching for "deploy XAP to phone" or similar. Laziness is the only thing that prevented this from being a LMBTFY link. You need to developer-unlock your phone (try WindowBreak) and use a XAP deployment tool.

You probably installed the KK2 firmware version, which breaks hacks like WindowBreak and apps like DiagProvXml. You'll either need to roll back (a Zune backup works file) or, if you don't have the KK2 firmware version, your Diagnostics version may be bad - try removing it and re-installing from the dialer.
FYI, you can also get a legit Developer Unlock from Microsoft. It costs money unless you're a student, though. However, you'll still need interop-unlock (included in WindowBreak) to install apps like DiagProvXml.
Please search these terms before asking "what is this" or similar. Steps on how to do things like check your firmware and Diagnostics versions are on this site, mostly on the dev&hacking sub-forum.

I think there's a file not sure if it is directly under /data/system or one of it's sub directories, but basically what I did was to boot to TWRP , use the built it file manager and delete that file. I could then access my phone. I will search maybe I kept the file name somewhere.
EDIT:
Just remove this file /data/system/gesture.key
and reboot.

If cracking an Android device were as easy as deleting a file then I doubt that there's much value in any security on a device at all, no?
Surely this has to be a reinstall of the ROM...? Maybe with no-wipe to preserve the data?
Genuine question - I don't know for sure.

Testing it would be really easy. just set a pattern and then delete that file.
Lets us know is it is that easy to hack it or not.

The phone has to have an unlocked bootloader and twrp installed, so you already compromised its security yourself. You could relock the bootloader, flash a stock recovery and encrypt the phone, that would solve the issue.

Look, guy, just because you're a senior member there's no need to be offensively sarcastic.
Maybe you didn't get as far as my last comment: "Genuine question - I don't know for sure."

Not being Sarcastic at all. Making a point. If you got offended, sorry about that.
I posted what I have , after testing it myself. Had the same issue on Lollipop.
Further more, I will share another piece of Info in here.
When You are able to access any Solaris/Linux server using a console , and boot it from DVD, you can simply edit the /etc/shadow file and reset even the root password. Does that mean Unix/Linux aren't secure OS's ?
When you have access to OS level files you can practically hack every OS.
Same goes here. When you have unlock bootloader and modified recovery you can access system files that otherwise would be inaccessible. if he can have access to that file and remove it, he will gain access to his system.
Well, I tried everything that I could because my phone is no rooted, and the bootloader is locked, plus, the debugging mode is off too... so I was close to give up, BUT finally I remembered that my phone was connected to Airdroid!; if Airdroid is connected to the phone It can bypass the lockscreen and you can access to the internal memory anyways with the Airdroid website!, so I did a full backup of all my pictures and then I did a factory reset!, the copy was a kinda slow but I didn't care of course!. What a relief!!!
So, I really recommend use Airdroid (and have the app connected of course), it saved my life!, I was really frustrated about this, I cant believe Google doesnt provide the old way the restore the pattern like in Kitkat and Jelly Bean.

I have a fingerprint enabled phone. forgot my pattern, followed your suggestion and presented in my phone are data/system/gesture.password.key and gesture.pattern.key so I deleted the pattern.key (guided by forgotten pattern) I rebooted and my apps were optimized and voila the phone is unlocked.
However, I tried accessing the fingerprint menu on my phone but refused access. I then used root explorer, browse to aforementioned location, copied and renamed gesture.password.key to gesture.pattern.key as it was before deletion.
went back to the security setting of my phone, setup pin option (scared of forgetting the pattern again) and phone screen locked. I try using my fingerprint to unlock (which I am accustomed to) and voila! it says pin required for additional security. entered Pin and the fingerprint menu became functional again and all previously stored fingerprints remained unaltered....QED
