Any VZW employees here? Question on upgrade - General Questions and Answers

I (as everyone) want to upgrade to the new Droid. I unfortunately just got a new phone, thru Alltel, back in July 09'. I am told that I am not eligible for an upgrade until July 11'.
I was curious if there are any loop holes on how I can upgrade early, without paying full retail. I am not talking fraud, but just some way I can do it legitimately...

AT&T: insurance claim or outright buy for a new phone

I am on a family plan and my mother-in-law took my wife's upgrade because she broke her phone (even though she had insurance... wtf), so now I have a new phone and so does her mom and she has a ****ty samsung eternity and cant upgrade officially until next september at the earliest.
my wife does have insurance on her line, and I checked at&t's website, they no longer sell the eternity model.
Does anyone know what would happen if my wife's phone "broke" and I created a claim? do they have a stockpile of old phones or do you think they would allow her to pick a different one, probably from the free w/contract pile?
first time poster here, thanks for any input!

[Q] UKTMO keep tarrif and upgrade vs simfree options?

Given the problems Voda users seem to be experiencing im a little wary of upgrading to this phone first thing, especially as im a longstanding WinMo user jumping ship... The question I'm asking is more directed at those of you UK TMO that have upgraded in the past.
I have the opportunity to get one of these (assumedly uk) simfree for the 15th preordering from an online retailer (yes, the big 'A'.co.uk) for £500. I rang 150 today and natch they were tight lipped about my options as my upgrade isnt for a coupla weeks, but seeing as im on their flext 40 tariff that gives me virtually unlimited everything with no overcharges for data and a FUP of a Gig, I would like to hang on to that. It was however an 18mth contract that let me get the HD2 last Jan. so if i can save ~£20 a month from commiting to a phoneless upgrade then over 2yrs it more or less pays for itself, running by the math.
But just how likely is that saving?
Also they have nothing on their radar yet for this phone in their upgrade dept so it may be a while before they can even offer it to their customers and theres no guarantee I will get it without forking out some towards the handset or maybe even having to go for a new tariff entirely, hence why im leaning towards ordering online to get it sooner.
As i tend to stick with stock roms is a simfree option going to cause issues if i want to use say the online video stream services with the TMO sim, or get upgrades from htc.com in the future for example? Does the rom brand not matter much these days?
Seeing as my upgrade option is before the online store will deliver I will know one way or the other but forwarned is forarmed and I would like to phone TMO up with a bit of an idea of how they play beforehand...
Thanks guys!

I thought that this phone was coming out on T-Mobile in the UK next month but I could be mistaken.
If you are on T-Mobile and you don't see the phone you want now, they should be able to give you a discount down to £20 or less for up to 6 months. This discount will disappear once you upgrade.
ROMS do make a difference. Often the telephone companies will be slow to updated their ROMS or you may never get an update that is available for stock ROM options. IF the phone is fully unlocked by HTC then you will be able to remove the T-Mobile ROM and upgrade via this site in the future if you aver need to.

[Q] Help/advice getting my AT&T upgrade earlier?

I'm due for a device upgrade on Aug 3rd. I really don't want to wait that long (who ever does?), so I called AT&T and sweet-talked the ATT lady (being nice pays off!) She said I'm not technically eligible yet, but it's close enough that she would put a note on my account saying that ATT CS authorized me to do an early upgrade for regular upgrade price. Yay!
I've settled on the HTC One X as my next device, and I found an awesome deal for it at a local AT&T reseller ($99 instead of the $199 most other places charge). The only problem is that apparently "AT&T 'Authorized Resellers' " don't have any access to the "account notes", and even if they did, they can't override an early upgrade. So I'm in a catch 22 - I could get it cheap at the reseller (but I'd have to wait until Aug 3), OR I could (apparently, with the note on my account) walk into AT&T "Official" Store TODAY and upgrade (but I'd have to pay the full $200 for the phone).
Any ideas on how I might swing the early upgrade at the awesome price? I want my cake, and I wanna EAT it TOO, darnit!! I called CS and asked if they could change the actual upgrade date on my account instead of just putting a note on it, but they said that's only ever done if it was entered incorrectly.
Just thought someone around here might be more familiar with AT&T and their procedures than I am (which is to say, NONE).
Thanks!

[Q] Wirefly help

I purchased a Galaxy Nexus on WireFly on June 27th, one day before the terrible new shared data plans on Verizon. On that date, WireFly's website said that Verizon has approved of the upgrade. The device is apparently out of stock at WireFly, and they have not shipped it yet.
Two things worry me- firstly Verizon's website says nothing about my new upgrade. Secondly I emailed WireFly and they said that they cannot guarantee I will retain my unlimited data.
I did talk to someone through Verizon's live chat who said that because I ordered before the 28th I am safe, but I don't put too much stock in that.
Please help, this is the worst experience I've had with a company. Thanks!!!

How did Sprint/Best Buy handle your upgrade after exchanging Note7?

So when you guys went to the Sprint or Best Buy stores and exchanged your phone for a S7E or other device, were you able to keep your upgrade date? Say for instance you got your Note7 on August 25th but exchanged it for an S7E October 25th, next year would you still be able to upgrade your phone on August 25th?
I was able to keep my previous update date. I don't know how they did it. I did my exchange at a corp store. I don't think the guy knew exactly what he was doing but its still listed as I have an upgrade available.
