Yeah pin the Task Manager to the quick links.
HTC Task Manager is disabled on HD2 probably because it slows Sense down

HTC Task
Tried the latest I found (HTC Tachi TaskManager 2.1.37655.1.cab),
but it does not work for me...
Simply everything I try does not work
Have You tried to pin the standard windows task manager to, for example, the answer call hardware key? I've done that in my TD2. You should be able to do this via phone settings->buttons or something (haven't seen wm6.5 yet)
try installing Duttys Task Manager 2.1.19183631
well, about this, anyone knows any taskbar manager that can use in every program to change from one to other without going to the main screen and then change?
Like the taskbar manager but on all screens, main and programs.
I really hate that "feature" of need to go to the main to select other program.

I'll have to agree with you there. It sounds strange that the multi tasking isn't build more, well, multi tasking in mind.
I'm probably getting this device next week and would be really interested to know if there's any way to do this faster, like bringing the task manager up with one press of key etc (like I asked in another topic too).
Edit... And got a reply too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4901571#post4901571

Didnt work for me.
This works:
- Go the file explorer
- Open "My Device/Windows"
- Find Task manager (taskmgr) and press long on this file so the file menu opens and select copy.
- Go to "My Device/Windows/Startmenu/Programs.
- Go to menu and paste shortcut.
- Now you can also add the shortcut to your today screen.

Wow, that is brilliant indeed.

Thanks for the tip, and I tried doing that both before and yet again, but it's a no go.
It still doesn't play nice with certain builds. You can sort of make out the task manager icon in the upper right hand corner, but you can't click on it.
The solution posted above by rob_van_triet though works perfectly for now.
Working but Icon ?
Ok placing a shortcut of taskmgr in the start menu folder works fine.
But if you use this as a tab on the start screen it looks all blury.
Some help please ?
Do you know where is the setting for the task manager so that I could change "tapping X in the upper right corner" to "close the app" and not to "minimize it".
It seems that the whole Touch Flo settings has disappeared.
edit: just read the other thread about the task manager and it answered my question.

HTC Task Manager icon missing
Hi. I'm running Manila 2D 19 and I have HTC boot launcher, task manager, and quick menu installed. I believe those are all the programs I need for it to work, but the top right corner is just blank. I did a search and found people referring to an option under settings --> task manager --> buttons --> enable in quick menu? But I don't have that option. Weird thing is that it works fine with Manila 2D 22. Any suggestions? Thx.
I have the same problem, I searched alot in the forms for a solution without getting good resluts. Can anyone help with this issue? I have HTC Cruise 2 with WM6.1.

Solution Normally you can find in your HTC Phone the following setting: Settings/system/task manager/button/enable the "X" button to end running/end programs by tapping "X". if you cannot find task manager in Settings/system/,that's because the chef didnt cook it into the rom. The solution for missing Task Manger Setting: if there is no Task Manager setting, then you need to download Touch X Taskmanager.cab, install, use resco explorer to search TaskManagerApp.exe in Windows (in my wm6.1,the shortcut dont appear in Startup menu),open it,and in Buttons, enable end programs by tapping "X". Need to reset to take effect. Touch X Taskmanager.cab can be downloaded in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415

A good TaskManager for WM6.5
Guy's, Since WkTask task manager is not updated for a long time and is not perorming well on WM6.5 platform. Please suggest some of good alternatives, it will help to get the right task manager for future (WM6.5) builds. Cheers
QuickMenu I have always used QuickMenu. Before anyone says anything - I don't replace the main Start Menu, but use it with it. (Make sure 'Replace system's start-menu is unticked). Also in the 'Menu Items', I only have 'Running Tasks', 'QuickMneu' and 'Programs'. The latter I set to Custom folders, which simply contains 'New SMS' and 'H-V Switch'. The reason why I use it, is because it doesn't hide the text of the toolbar, which is important for some programs I run (eg, it displays how many characters used/left in an SMS message). And if I want to switch tasks, I simply click on the StartMenu logo. The normal StartMenu is simply obtained by pressing next to it (see attach #1). You see, it's all in the way you set it up. attach #2 and #3 show what happens when you click on StartMenu logo. You can then go to (or close) any task task you wish. You can even close all other tasks (except the one you've got at the front). You can add your own programs. If you really want, it can replace the main StartMenu, but I tend not to like this. QuickMenu 2.8en (website|download)
Quickmenu is handy indeed but it is finger/thumb -hostile. The fastest ever is aebutton plus task manager. It is not free unfortunately.
If you want finger friendly, howabout WKTaskSwitcher which thingonaspring used in his ROM? or is that just a wkTask variant? It was launched via the light button, and then I think you just chose your app (from a selection of icons on the screen). (I must admit, though, that I didn't prefer it myself ).
Weird, WkTask works perfectly on my WM6.5

Sounds like you are using WM6.5. The CHome homescreen takes over the softkey assignments the same way TouchFlo3D does. In order to change the Left and Right Softkey, you'll have to make the change manually in the registry or from a CHome Titanium Customizer. The registry setting is easy if you know the link url to the file you want Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock\ Find the Strings "SK2TEXT" and "SK2URL". The SK2TEXT is the name the button will display, and the URL is the link. If you're wondering, in the main CHome Key (folder) you'll find the SK1TEXT and SK1URL which is the Left SoftKey; although I would leave contacts up there.
he said hes using tf3d2. he didnt say he was using chome.
Thanks for that! I found it in the registry.. the only thing is.. how do i create a URL for the program that i want to run when i click that softkey? player911 said: Sounds like you are using WM6.5. Xtask.. not the prettiest and maybe not the easiest to use at first but it works.. no install.. so you need to: extract it, run the exes, press the two down arrows on the menu that pops up, then choose "other" and "settings" and have a play (such as disable take over start menu) similar style icons to wktask across the top, X button remapping in 6.5.x screen resizing in the same. And almost as much power as fdc taskmanager. It's great I love it ideally set a shortcut to it in startmenu/programs, so you can set it to long press send button.
Another one Personnaly, I use MobilityFlow Touch Commander (only the task manager) wich is really fingerfriendly. Hope it helps. Franky

[MOD] HTC Task Manager link in Notification Enhancement WM6.5(.X) [May/26/2010]
Alright guys it's been a while since I contributed much of anything to the forum but I'm feeling generous today. What we have here is a way to use the HTC Task Manager with WM6.5.X. (WILL also work with WM6.5 - See post 3) In the HTC Huashan OEM Package leak, the newer Notification Enhancement package has a link to the MS Task Manager built into it. This enables you to quickly access the MS Task Manager without having to browse through the settings on your device. What I did: 1. Opened up notificationmanager.dll with a hex editor. 2. Searched for "taskmgr.exe(MS Task Manager)" and change it to TaskApp.exe 3. Searched for "Task Manager" string and "Broke" the checksum for the HTC Task Manager(this allows for the Task Manager link in the notification enhancement to exist even if HTC Task Manager is present) 4. Made a duplicate of TaskManagerApp.exe from HTC Task Manager and renamed it to "TaskApp.exe" 5. Added "TaskApp.exe" to system exclusive in HTC Task Manager 6. Disabled "TodayX" so task manager will not overlap clock on today screen The result - You click the title bar on your device to launch the Notification Enhancement and now when you click on "Task Manager" you will launch the HTC Task Manager instead of the MS task manager. This allows you to add apps to exclusive and also set apps to close when you hit the X or back button on your device instead of just minimizing them. After I was finished making all the changes, I cooked them in to test. Success!! Everything worked exactly as I expected it to. Seeing as how pleased I am with my results, I present to you, my modded packages to be cooked into your ROMS. CAB FILE RELEASE NOTES:: I also uploaded 2 separate cab files. One for WM6.5 and one for WM6.5.x. Please be sure to download the correct version for the ROM you're using. If either Notification Enhancement or HTC Task Manager already exists in the ROM you're using then installation might fail. This happens because the Notification Enhancement or Task Manager Services may already be running. If this happens, you'll have to do the following: 1. Delete the following keys from the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Services\TaskManager] 2. Soft-reset your device 3. Try reinstalling the cab again. ______________________________________________________________ I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor just as I have. You can find everything attached below. (Special Thanks goes out to kimi_sae_ireba who helped to better explain the hex editor)

Click to collapse So what this registry change does is allow the quick link to be on the top right corner but invisible? If so that's great! That would make the task manager fully functional!! I might just try this now. As a test. If it works then I'll update the EXT packages and add an add-on cab for this mod.

Searched for "Task Manager" string and "Broke" the checksum for the HTC Task Manager(this allows for the Task Manager link in the notification enhancement to exist even if HTC Task Manager is present) Click to expand...
