Does Anyone have the Download to it or anything?!?!
I Really want it, and if anyone can find it please leave me a link
I haven't heard anything about a WebOS port to an Android platform. Even if someone tried, with the vastly different hardware I doubt it'd be stable or work fully. Your best bet is a Sense UI Hero build, it has some of the WebOS flashiness and will generally work on any Android phone.
LOL...sorry mate just gonna interject here before you get flamed: its not gonna happen. Well it could possibly, but the pre has specific hardware (eg gesture area) that our phones dont have. Both android and webos are based on linux, but they are fundamentally different. Perhaps if someone got hold of a SE rachael dump, we might be able to have a similar launcher bar and imitate the pre, but a 'rom' for it just aint looking likely. Would love to be corrected but its the truth.

There was a theme port for Palm Pre rom, but the link got taken down because Palm made threats against legal action. That's the one that I have but it's based off of Cyanogen's 3.8.6 Rom. It's not that great. It only kinda made it seem like it looked like the WebOs,but you could tell the differences. Plus, if you were anywhere but the homescreen, it looked just like Android.

Anyone know anything about the Meego? Would you be able to flash the htc tp2 and put Meego on it?
Good question! I'd also like to know if there is possibility to port Meego to HTC WM and/or Android devices just by cooking a new ROM - or are there significant h/w issues? Also to know how difficult it is to modify apps to run on Meego that have been written for Android or WMx.
Don't we all wish?
Lol when I saw this thread my heart jumped out my chest. Then reality struck. And reality is, its not ever gonna happen. And if it does, it will be because someone used a lot of stuff from the Android port (Meego, and Android are both base on Linux Mobile Kernel). Anyhow even if you did get it to boot it would be plagued with issues and honestly not ever work the way we all want.
Hardware issues aren't really there, just no drivers available. Hell at this point I would be happy with a touch pro 3 with 1ghz omap/snapdragon and winmo/android either. But no luck for that, and we are even farther from seeing meego coming out of HTC. Here is to hoping the N9 is good and ever sees stateside.. Hope someone proves me wrong!

Oh as for programming... thats where Meego excels. Winmo already has support for Qt 4.6 and that is how I currently develop apps for winmo5.X+. Then when I change my device to meego (target device), recompile, and it is ready not a single line of code changed. But that is more the power of Qt than any significant advantage to winmo. Android support is coming so be ready for a wave of amazing Qt apps. Thank you Trolltech and Nokia. Long Live QT!
Dead thread/project/idea? I'd love to run Meego on Rhodium. There are some Linux games (Cave Story!) I'd like to carry on my phone but I don't want to install Rhobuntu. Meego'd let me run Linux apps and make calls without having to reboot.
Me too! Keep the thread up!

Could anyone do it?!
It's based on Linux, so it can be booted using HaRET... People can port Ubuntu, but can't port Meego?

I'm with ya.
BUMP!
Another Bump!
It hasn't even gotten a successful Official port yet, and you guys are asking for it to be on the Rhodium already? Geeze. The Leo hasn't even got a functional port yet, and they have more devs than we'll ever see here.
The moral of the story is be patient, or please help to contribute. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, it's just that Meego is loosing momentum in an official capacity now with only Intel working on it currently.
bump
Just keeping things alive if I can. I think this would be absolutely great. I will be patient....but man that would be cool. I still have a ways to go on my contract and I really don't feel like investing in another phone atm. I'd rather get a laptop...
I'm all for this as well. So BUMP
Frankly I love my TP2, hopefully HTC will put out a TP3, though it appears the HTC 7 Pro, is the Touch Pro 3.

I'm pretty sure it's not the iOS but an Android ROM that is similar in layout and design to it. I'm guessing this is the MUIU ROM but I'm not too sure.
I don't think so. I used Muui a couple of weeks. This lookes slightly different. It really lookes like iOs 4. Would be awsomes if u could access the whole appstore on Your magic or hd2. And the touchscreen interpretation of the iOs is still the best i think.
Woa! think of driver related real multitouch (more than 2 actions at the same time on 4.3 inch)
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
It's a little different then the muiu Rom but what's funny is the apps that they go in to they could of gone in to apps that would show it is ios like music or better yet the app store but they don't.... even at the end he has his figure over the Player and then goes back finance
Is anyone else besides me impressed at that video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY-uRRCARJw&feature=player_embedded
It really looks like IOS 4. It really does. Unless that is one hell of a good/baddass skin/theme.
What really bothers me was that half of the video was him moving icons around and that was it! That was it? It was!
I am no iphone user, but can anyone verify if the way things move, windows open, text, etc in that video.... are they indicative of the real thing?
maybe he opened up that white phone and just put an iphone under the hood. iono.. what do you think?
Last question: where is the original source? I would like to know.
thats definately iOS
Asians are always ahead of other Android users...
Whatever it is, either iOS or damn good theme, it looks great!
No it's not iOS, it's a very well done fake, if I recall correctly they used a theme.
iOS is not *ever* going to be available on any device Apple does not intend to have it.
Technically, it's possible if someone rewrites the code from scratch or manages to get hold of the code somehow (and even then it won't be a breeze), but the chance of this happening is just so incredibly small that really there's no point in waiting or hoping. Just go ahead and enjoy Android, Gingerbread is about to be released and it's gonna kick some major ass!
FAKE! half the animations are missing and ios doesnt scroll the wallpaper like android (i have an ipod touch)
Are the WP7 phones similar enough for this to ever happen? For example, put an LG ROM onto a Focus? Sorry if this sounds like an uber-newbie question, I feel completely lost when it comes to hacking the WP7 compared to my familiarity with WM.
Thanks
No can do. There are different file formats for delivery of bits to the devices. This is similar to WM6.5 where you couldn't flash the LG eXpo with an HTC rom or vice versa.
I guess if someone could port roms, it could be possible.
It's possible to port ROM, but really useless, except NoDo, though looks like this update will be available for every device (against not me ). Also each device has own drivers, which can't be used in another.

Except that I realllllly want DLNA!
Searched, and haven't found a thread on this.
I'm due for an upgrade in July on my Sprint line, and I was almost certain I was going to go with the EVO 3D (when it comes out), but then I saw the HTC Arrive and kinda liked it. The thing is, though, that I really like Android as well. I know dual-booting Android was possible on the Touch Pro 2, so I was wondering if it's possible to do the same thing with the Arrive/7 Pro, or if having Windows Phone 7 prevents it from being able to do this. Thanks!
It cannot be done as of now.

The HTC 7 Pro has the same SoC as HD7 and HD2, and both of them already have Android.
Why Android still can't be ported for 7 Pro?
I'm pretty sure that hardspl must be available before we can flash custom roms on our pros. More imporantly some sort of application like haret for WM6 but for WP7 would probably also need to be developed first. Hopefully some fine day it will all be possible like on the HD2.
i was looking at how they dual boot with hd2, and it looks like they boot from sdcard, and flash wp7. we shouldn't need to flash wp7, but booting android is sdcard boot. so i see no reason why we can't boot from sdcard, unless we need a special boot loader, and the boot loader they need doesn't have the access to wp7 to get the boot loader working properly and that goes beyond me please correct me if I'm wrong.
why would anyone want to put an unsecure, laggy, fragmented, built from stolen code OS like Android on a fine device such as the arrive? wp7 is leaps and bounds superior to Android and once mango arrives it will be even better. thus the need to do this isn't necessary.

and also many articles that say the opposite. Dont just spew out stuff and say it as fact. Other people have different preferences.
iOS is just as fragmented as Android. Only thing is that Apple controls the fragmentation so dumbass developers dont try making completely universal apps when they dont know how the hell to do that.
And fragmentation isnt an issue for consumers. Its perfectly fine. So i dont understand your bias against it unless you are a developer.

I really don't care whether you or anyone says android is worse or better than wp7 but it would be nice to switch if one wants to. so when there is a thread discussing the possibility to port android on the 7 pro, there is no need for no-sayers, since they can occupy their brains with other stuff.
i would love to see this, but especially since there is only 1 sd-card, its either flashing one or the other i think...
Not possible on wp7 YET

Hello all,
I am new to mobile phones and I would like to post some questions, which are general in fact, but closely related to the topic and the Arrive device.
I would like to have another OS on it and I have found a way to change the SD cart it is running with, so I should be able to change or modify it with no trouble.
I imagine that I could find another HTC device with identical hardware and deploy it's ROM to this one in a manner similar to HD2's approach. I am so new that I already can feel how dumn is that ... but still.
I need to clarify some basics in order to know what to look for. First of all what does the firmware does and how it is related to the OS. Can I imagine it is something like BIOS, which controls the main hardware like processor, ram, telephony, etc? If so what stops me of formatting the SD and booting another system from it on the same hardware.
Another thing is what the ROM contains and how it is related to the OS. I am with the impression that it has everything in it -- OS distributive, firmware backup and bootloader maybe. If that is correct am I free to cook a ROM that contains the same firmware (as I imagine it like a BIOS alternative), the bootloader of another system and its distributive? Of course the ROM that is already on the device may and most probably will try to stop me, so I will need to somehow format it.
I do not express myself too good due to lack of expertise, but I know computers and I believe you will know what to tell me to straighten my thoughts.
Thank you in advance for any information you provide.
Sincere,
drel
At this stage, pesonally, I think wp7 is the best os to me. At it is not laggy as android does and looks more beautiful than iOS...

I think what you meant to say was "Why would anyone have a different opinion than my awesome opinion?" As much as I love WP7 I'd love to be able to use Android with this chassis. Choice is always good. There is no Android phone with this keyboard.

Bump. Having no Bluetooth SPP has just pissed me off for a year. About to get an Galaxy Nexus S come May, so I don't mind tinkering with my Arrive for now.
hello?
Any news about dual booting android on arrive / HD7 Pro? I read the thread and some users just talk crap. " Why this? Why that?" Why not, may I ask. I Love WP7, i really think that beats the crap out of everything else. But why can't we dream of having android too? As far as I know, Android has at the moment much more apps ( free and payed ones ) available than WP7. My brother-in-law has veetle ( just an example ) on his Xperia S, and he can watch live football/soccer which I can't cuz there is no veetle available. And who can name veetle, can name many others too. The point is: Combining the best of two worlds would makes fully profit from our beloved phones, which we payed ( at least I did ). I really hope that some news about this stuff.
Best Regards
Miiky
So i was given a playbook. Honestly i think its terrible. Not that the interface or os is bad. Its just lacking everything that i would use it for.
As anyone who has tinkered a bit with a playbook knows, its possible to run converted playbook aps and get the market working. With many restrictions
I assume based on the lack of information on this that no one has actually gotten any version of android running on it. I dont mean an emulator or app. What im curious about is completely removing the rim software and getting android on it.
Might be impossible i dont know.
Does anyone know of any projects that are trying to accomplish this, or is it technically/ theoretically possible?
Just curious
Thanks
kyle
I wondered the same thing after seeing this: http://mobile.slashdot.org/story/12/01/03/1323244/rims-playbook-on-clearance
First thing I did, after going to check out the Rim hardware specs and deal information, was come here to XDA to see if there was a Rim Playbook project or forum yet lol. Sure there will be soon with the hardware so much cheaper now.
