I have some questions, I did try looking up but it just made me more confused. So here goes
My bf wants to get the individual plan on tmobile and get the vibrant. He wants a cheap plan obviously so i suggested the unlimited data only plan on 40ish bucks because maybe he can call and text through google voice (i heard its free?) so i tried looking it up but I'm confused by google. Is it free and can he get and send out his texts and calls through google voice?

ummm im not totally sure i wouldnt see why not but me and my wife have sprint and google voice is intergrated in to our account so we use it to text and call

yes there is a working version, it uses the official vzw visual voicemail app and not integrated like in froyo but i cant seem to find the apk again for it. i got it somewhere in one of the massive bamfGB and bamfGBremix forums a while back
If you have the apk on the phone can you upload?
Look in your system files?

I use Youmail. It's a free vvm on Amazon's app store. I like it better because you can set up custom ringers for people and stuff.

can someone please explain why you want to PAY to use vvm when there are so many free services out there? namely google voice? i just cant understand why people want to throw their money away....

one reason i like to use the vzw app is i know if i say forget my phone or my battery is dead i can still call and check my voicemail from any phone i want. Not sure but i wouldnt think google voice would have that capability, if my understanding is correct when it normally sends the call to voicemail it instead sends the caller to your google voice instead so it would not be on the vzw server for checking from other phones.

yup absolutely. you get a visual list of voicemails within the google voice app, just like vvm. press play and you get your message. it also transcribes the message for you so you can READ your voicemail

you CAN check from other phones. thats another great thing google voice does for FREE. all you do is call your google voice number from any phone, enter your pin, and there are your messages stop paying verizon pleeeeease. can do everything for free. any more questions?
Don't forget you can check your VM online as well. Comes in handy in a pinch.

This thread is very interesting since users of an android phone do not know how insanely good Google voice is. The amount of customizing options is just pure insanity. Can have certain greetings for certain numbers, special one only for your wife. Can setup groups, work greeting, friends greeting, etc.
You can even break in to the call and listen live while someone leaves you a voicemail, and the break in and answer as they were recording.
You can record your calls.
Unknown numbers can be screened so they have to state their name before your phone rings then you hear their name when you answer the call.
Its pure insanity, and someone would rather use the Verizon version? Teehee's...

google voice, which is FREE, beats out ANY pay service. i guess enjoy wasting your money you people who are stuck in your ways X_X. i wish i had enough extra money a month to set on fire... us that post good things about gvoice are just trying to help you all save cash, but if you want to spend for no reason, then by all means, spend.
Why isn't there a hack for VVM? and why does vzw charge for it? I'd like to like my Google exposure and not use G. Voice. Is there a native option?
limit your exposure?...are you on facebook? youre more exposed already.

Do you know of a good tutorial for using GVoice to replace Verizon's voicemail, without eating your VZW "anytime" minutes?

absolutely. you dont have to use any minutes to check your voicemail if you dont want to. you use the Google Voice app. it uses data.
edit: actually, i think i originally misunderstood. i think it will still use minutes when the call is forwarded to google. but if the person only leaves a short message, should only use 1 minute. but thats only for someone leaving a voicemail. sending txts and checking your voicemail is done with data.
first, of course, you need to sign up for a google voice account. i forget if its invite-only still or not..just check google.com/voice. after you have an account, see this faq for instructions on setting google voicemail as the default for your phone.

Hi, I'm looking for an app that would allow me to use my secondary Google Voice number .. I hope this question is in the right place.
I searched Google and found only few posts where something like this was asked and no real answers there.
I am currently using GVoice with Sprint integration so the android Google voice app is being used by my sprint number and that takes the option of even signing out of the app away. What I need is a second app to let me sign in with my other Google Voice account and able to text and maybe make calls as well? but mostly I need it for the SMS.
I believe I can use grooveIP to make and receive VoIP calls with Gvoice.. but GrooveIP doesn't have SMS.
I know there are other options for SMS such as Pinger, TextMe, TextPlus and many more and I did try those three but none of them as good as Google voice and one reason is they don't give permanent number they will delete it if not used for 30 days and that's a problem for me.. also they don't save history but only for few days or weeks where with Gvoice my history is there however long I want to keep it.
I hope I made what I'm looking for clear

I've done my due diligence and have researched.. and unfortunately have found that MMS receiving through Google Voice is just not possible at this time. I've searched around and have a few questions. They stem from the fact I'm now on the T-Mobile 100 minute 5GB 4G $30 Prepaid plan..
1. I doubt it, but does anyone have a work around for this? I'd really like to use my Google Voice number for EVERYTHING - it's really annoying to contact everyone saying I got a new number and such.
2. The new Google Hangouts Dialer.. I see that it supports 'free' calls. Thus far I've made a few using my Google Voice number. Currently, it is only possible to place calls through this service through your Google Voice number and not through your ACTUAL carrier-provided number, correct?

I was wondering if there is a solution yet how to forward Google Voice to Google Fi (even if it involves an intermediary).
I use Google Voice as my business number with a SIP phone at work and it also rings my cell phone when I am out and about.
I am tempted by Google Fi (currently on AT&T unlimited data with 450/minutes) but I can't just give up my Google Voice number, especially since I use it as my MAIN business number with a REAL phone.
Has anyone figured out a solution how to forward Google Voice to Fi?

I have:
Number A (current AT&T cell, forwards to Google Voice/Number B if not answered, willing to port to Google Fi)
Number B (Google Voice: rings BOTH Number A and my SIP phone)
I am happy to use Number A for Google Fi BUT
1. I want Number A to forward to Number B if I don't answer
2. I want Number B to ring BOTH Number A and my SIP phone (Obihai) if called directly
That's a very simple use case. WTF does Google mess this up?

Seems like the best way is a paid voip number that is set to just forward?
