Hi, I'm new to updating ROM's....
I want to update my S710 from its original ROM version 1.15.405.2 to the one i found on the site: RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.
My radio version is 4.1.13.37_02.83.90. Can I use this update on my phone or not? Does the radio version's need to match?
Thanks

You should have no problem using this ROM to update your S710 as I used that ROM for a short while when it first came out, I then moved oveer to Dr. Gonzo's New Guava ROM, and I am now using his WM6.1 ROM, been using it since his first test ROM came out and I am now using his latest WM6.1 v1.0a ROM.
Roland
Roland, simple question. What is the advantage of upgrading ROM's? Newer features? Faster software? Just curious I guess. I just got my 710 and wondering whats the buzz with all this rom and 6.1 stuff. Thanks!

To have the latest on your Vox offcourse.
Just like Rolandh I have updated my Vox with the WM6.1 rom from Doc. Gonzo.
And the new features and the increased stability are great.
Futher more I noticed the response of the software in some areas is better.
So all pro's and little con's.
Chong
The official HTC WM6 Update added a Network Setup Wizard and Office 6.1 to the ROM. Dr. Gonzo's WM6.1 adds Threaded SMS, New Internet Explorer Mobile with the ability to set your own Homepage, a better Home/Today Screen and some extra apps that Dr. G has added and is more responsive and a little bit more stable than WM6, and as Chongie says to have the lates version of WM on you Vox aswell.
Roland
Having only added Gregory's HTC plugin to this phone, if I wanted to add Dr. G's WM6.1, what is the proper way to do so? Is there some precautions I need to take first?
Not much precautions
Hi,
There is not much precautions to take, apart from taking backup of your contacts, that is and making sure that there is battery backup to your PC, so that the update process is not interrupted. Because once you update the ROM, all your data will be erased. Its like formatting your hard disk drive. If your vox is network locked (mine was not) then you need to unlock the phone first. If you download Dr G's latest ROM, then you will find out how to do it (there is a step by step guide that comes with it).
Honestly, if you followed the guide, there is hardly any chance of screwing up. And once you start using the 6.1 ROM, you will surely wonder how the hell could you ever have used the original ROM that came with HTC Vox
Wow, appreciate the awesome explanation! Thanks! As far as locked or unlocked, I'm assuming its unlocked. Bought it off Ebay, stuck my sim card from t-mobile in it, turned it on and worked like a charm! Have heard the term "bricking" phone, which i'm assuming means locking it up, correct? Since I wasnt the original owner, are there certain "codes" or info off the phone i need to get first? You know, like some software info or phone specific info?
Thanks again and am looking forward to upgrading this slow pig that wont update windows!
Off to back up contacts now, lol...............

Many thanks omaga, already looked and the closest was Official test 1.28.405.1 HTC ROM from xda-ftp. Not sure about using a test ROM.
My version 1.28.405.3 WWE.
There was a program i came across for the artemis to dump a ROM from it straight to the memory card, but can't remember where I saw it.
Cheers anyway.
I also need the original 1.28.405.3 WWE ROM for my Touch Cruise. Has anyone got it?
I "upgraded" the radio to a newer verson (old was 1.58, new was 1.64) and ever since then, my GSM reception has gone bad. Calls drop out, and I get maximum 2 bars reception. When wifi is on, it kills the GSM reception.
I downgraded the radio back to the original (1.58.21.23) but the problem persists. I even put the original SPL on there (so no more HardSPL) but still no luck. Even a hard reset didn't fix it.
Any suggestions?
I downloaded the WM6 rom from the HTC site, but that's an older version (1.25.405.1).
1.28.457.2 WM6 rom
I use this. This according to me newer and better. This is a fast and stable version.
Why is this not rather good for you?
Looking for a ROM to flash my Universal but there are just to many of them. Which one is really good, fast and stable? Are there any German ROM#s available besides the T-Mobile one?
Thanks

Depend exactly your needs, try to do a SEARCH on this forum, at least you will find 6 marvellous ROM´s.
Personally I would recommend Tomal ROM´s as in my experience gives the best performance-stabilty and support
Good luck
I have just updated with this rom but there are quite a few problems. Firstly some of the language is in german as it was previously before the flash. The radio is still version 0.0.0 as it was after i used the unlocker. Also is there is still the tmobile logo on boot up which i hope i can somehow get rid off.
Any help is much appreciated.

Perhaps some master of more knowledge can give us a clue, I honestly don´t know why is happening that.
My only recommendation would be to have a good look into the Wiki, over there you will find out how to install a different radio version when you upgrade a ROM.
Also in the Universal section there is a post (Don´t remember exactly where) where you can learn to change your bootsplash screen. I made it and it´s easy.
Good luck
Tomal´,s black edition for shure..
Impossible to say for sure as the matter is that one rom may run well with a HTC uni but might have lots of problems with another HTC uni. This is the truth, even though the two PPC are of the same kind. It seems to be strangge but happens to my EXEC. Now DarkForcesTeam's latest rom has no broblems with my phone so I currently use it.
No one can answer this question for you, you need to try different ones and find out the best for your PPC.
Get the new Tomal v8.2...
Try this
[HTC UNIVERSAL- 20270] WM6.1 v1.0 by luca16thebig

Personally have not tested 1.11
I have tested 1.08, 1.15, 1.17 and 1.18 and 1.17 and 1.08 proved to be the best rated in less power consumption
thanks a lot
I contacted HTC about the stock rom on the X7510. That is slow etc. And if there would come other rom version or upgrade etc.
They told me to look up on the HTC site somewhere around oktober. That is going to take a while. But hey. Better something, then nothing at all.
Greetz Ché.
EDIT : I think its time for me start learning how to coock a rom myself. No patience

You'll probably find that the cooked ROMs shared in this forum are streets better than what HTC will bring out. All those little extras which our able chefs cook into their ROMs will not be in HTC's new ROM.
Coocked rom's bether idd but
Coocked rom's bether idd but. There still yet are 2 versions build by Michy. the 6.1 i got installed now. And works like a charm. And the 6.5 version that is still to buggy but looks good. I hope there wil be more roms pritty fast.

that does look like 2.5 to me and to have energy rom running, you did flash your phone
I really hope someone comes out with a radio rom that allows us to unlock the HSPA 1900 access (since the chip can do it according to its specs) with the new network launching today\tomorrow.
How is the rom? any things lacking that telus had installed? an problems with telus? is it crashier or faster than the stock telus rom?
MightyROM is 6.5 but Manila 2.1. You need to find a 6.5 ROM that includes Manila 2.5, one of the NRG ROMs has 2.5, I believe the LEO ROM. Mighty Mike is on Telus so I have to assume it works fine on Telus. He's also rumored to be coming out with a 2.5 ROM in the future, but for now all he's got is 2.1
Yes, you're definitely using the new version of Manilla 2.1 and not 2.5. I use NRGZ's Leo rom and I love it. It's winmo 6.5 and manilla 2.5.
Be aware that 2.5 is BETA and will have bugs. the roms with manilla 2.1 are much more stable. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Leo rom, there's just a couple of little things that aren't quite right (such as having to use winmo messaging if you want to MMS).
Kevin
Do I need a CDMA ROM
Thanks for everything guys. this is exactly what I was looking for as an answer.
Do I need a CDMA ROM to fit on it ? or any rom found on the Rhodium blog can be use ?
if you have a link regarding the rom you think I should be using please post it.
Again thanks for helping me on that. I can feel i'm getting addicted to flashing my tp2....
cheers guys!
I haven't checked the Rhodium Rom section here, so I could be wrong, but it used to be only GSM versions. To be safe, if you want 6.5 and 2.5, use the rom found at this link.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86489
Also, once you've flashed it, check out the FAQ here.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1280306&postcount=18
By the way, he has 2 different builds. Version 21864 is more stable and based on winmo 6.5. Version 23081 is based on an early beta of winmo 6.5.1 so it's not as stable and has a few more bugs. Not to say it's not worth a good flash though.
Good luck, and enjoy.
Kevin
many thanks!
thats awesome.
this community rocks.
regards,
if you dont like all the blue there is another leo (2.5) rom for you. while at ppcgeeks in the cdma tp2 upgrades. check out the juicy rom. hes also on telus
woot woot
this works perfectly.
i got my phone up and running. this is awesome.
I hope my post will help others!
best regards to all of you guys
