Question about flashing - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Just wanted to make sure before anything bad happens that there is no known problems with using Windows 7 and the new Windows Mobile Device Center to flash the device, instead of ActiveSync with XP.
Thanks,
Shaun

Anyone know?

Well, I guess I will do it on an XP machine just to be safe. Thanks for all the help guys!

Hey Shaun, I use Windows 7 and have no issues. Some people say they have an issue connecting to WMDC, but I have had no issues so far. Best of luck.

Hey thanks. I'll go ahead and try flashing it in Windows 7, my Fuze should be here this week.

Consider me a second, I've flashed my Fuze twice and a friend's Fuze and had no problems on Windows 7. You may need to turn off the "Enable faster data synchronization" option so WMDC stays connected, but once you're in the bootloader you should be fine.

For those having problems with Kies...

I had problems with Kies recognizing my phone and its a Win 7 64-bit build, I was getting the same issues with my wifes Kies on a Win 7 32-bit build.
I installed drivers, multiple versions of Kies...and still nothing. Untill I found the answer, and its going to sound stupid but it worked for both our computers...
Ready?
All we had to do was use the USB ports on the back of the computer. The front ones were not recognizing our phones, switched to the back and BAM, working perfect. Just a tip to try but it worked for both my wife and I and our captivates/PC's.
I have no clue as to the reason behind this, as the ports on the front of the PC's recognize everything else. I learned this from another forum when I was having issues. Something to try for sure for others having issues.
him no worky sir. not on xp, not on 7x32 or 7x64. my cap must have the herp cuz she derp on every machine. personally. . .i blame kies.

This really does not make much difference as it can be similar to Odin not recognizing the phone. The USB has been issues for many people and switching to others can help. Kies is just junk really.

That's fine and dandy if you have a desktop box, I have two win7 x64 laptops and it works on neither, no matter if i amend the db or the connect method. Until they make a dedicated version for the US captivate there's going to be issues.

[Q] HTC sync won't recognize my inspire

I installed the latest htc sync, but it says no device connected.
how can I solve this problem
sorry for this silly question.
I'm having the same problem.
I am as well.
Mine sees it.
Open sync
Connect phone
Select htc sync in the notification area
Give it a few seconds and it should show up
I've tried everything. I've even installed HTC sync and reinstated it twice. Still nothing.
Sounds silly, but I have to ask, are you using the front or back USB ports on your computer?
If you have an x64 bit vista or windows 7 platform the drivers aren't supported, I do believe.
I posted a similar question in an earlier thread. I am having the same issues. The phone shows connected but after about 5th seconds it disconnects.
I am running Windows 7 64 and Htc did have drivers for it.
I will be contacting HTC support today and will post their response.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Mine works on my XP pro 32bit, and my Win 7 64bit laptop, but shows up as
"My Desire HD"
Mine works on Win 7 64bit.. had to reboot to get it to see it!

Works for me on 7 x64 Ultimate and Enterprise.
APril and still no fix that I can find
I purchased an inspire yesterday and have not been able to get around this problem... any idea on a solution yet? Kinda hard to believe that they would not support 64 bit operating systems as 64 bit has been out for over two years now.
Never been able to get sync to work on Vista 32bit. Done all the recommended anti-virus juggling etc..
Stock Inspire, Windows 7 Home Premium. Mine syncs just fine.

[Q] Not sure if this is the right place, but bluetooth peripheral device driver...

not installed? My laptop (using Win7 x64) just updated and since the update, my phone (HTC Evo 4G) won't work with it via bluetooth as a headset for audio. Attached is a screenshot, and I've tried searching a solution and nothing I've found has worked as of yet (either something I had to install wouldn't work with my processor, or not the right type or bluetooth adapter, etc.).
Where can I find this driver to install it??
Definitely not the right place here, sorry. You should head over to the questions & answers section of the HTC Evo 4G forums of XDA developers.
Go here and choose Q&A.
Figured since it was a driver issue it might be here XP sorry about that!!

[Q] PC Won't recognize my phone

Hello again! So I recently picked up a Galaxy S 4g for a good deal, and now for some reason, I can't connect it to my pc. I plug it in via usb, I've tried all the USB settings, and my pc won't recognize it at all. I've searched everywhere on the web, and on these forums, and still no dice. I found another similar thread from about a year ago, and nobody really gave a concrete answer there. I've tried in debug mode also. The phone charges when it is plugged in, but that is all. I installed the Kies Mini and the drivers on my work pc (Win7 x64) and it still won't recognize my phone. At home I'm running Win8 x64, and Kies Mini won't even download the drivers, it just sticks at 0%. If anyone has any ideas as to why it won't work, or options that I can try, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, it is not rooted. The point of this is to try to root it. I've rooted many other Android phones without issue. This one's being a tricky little bugger!
Thanks in advance.
You will need to install the drivers for your phone on the pc. Also check out your usb cable some give me problems

Had a similar problem on my win7 laptop. Decided to start over on my winXP pc and Kies mini worked to install drivers.
Well I've tried multiple USB cables, and both of the ones I have work with my Windows phone so im pretty sure those aren't the issue.
I will set up a PC with XP today then and see what happens. Will post with results. Thanks in advance!
I'm using windows 7 with no issues

I got it to work! Here's how:
I tried installing XP on a pc that I was setting up for my grandma, and still had the same problem. Having been working on this for a few days, I got frusturated, and brought it to my Dad to have him give it a go (he's done tons of rooting/unlocking on tons of phones, and he is in the 360 modding scene) and lo and behold, he got it. It was just the USB cables I was using I guess. He hooked it up with the cable from his Kindle Fire, and it worked instantly. Looks like I just need to pick up a new cable, because all 3 of mine are ****ty >.>
Thanks for the help guys!
Make sure MTP is checked under storage -> press menu -> USB Computer connection
EDIT: sorry i didnt see you had it solved

Yes I do, I've unchecked it and checked it and my phone still wont connect to my laptop.
Does anyone have any ideas? Anything helps!
This may be a gigantic derp, but make sure you're using a data/sync cable and not just a "charge" cable. Even if you don't have USB debugging enabled, your PC will recognize your phone when you connect it - unless it just can't see the connection at all, and that can pretty much only be because of the cable.
Try rebooting the phone with the phone connected. There have been times with my previous phones where Windows couldn't recognize the phone because of driver issues and that seemed to allow Windows to recognize it easier.

Reboot the computer. I had the same issue. Rebooting the phone and computer fixed it for me

Try using a different USB port
personally i have found the usb3 port on my laptop and my phone to be quite buggy. i keep seeing the phone connecting and disconnecting.
When you connect you phone to your computer dose it start charging?
also open up the windows Device Manager and look for anything about an unrecognized device.
and one last thought for now have you loaded drivers for other phones? sometimes that will mess with loading drivers for new phones
