The Sprint Hero only has 2 led colors correct? Which are orange and green? If so that sucks because my brothers mytouch 3g has a few colors.
I remember seeing red at low battery. I miss the G1 that thing had like 8 different colors I am sure the Hero LED is capable of the same we just need an app to make it happen for us. Hopefully something comes soon, eclair will definitely have me not caring about LED color though.

U would think HTC would keep the multiple LED colors on this phone seeming that the G1 and MyTouch 3g had them...I guess not, which sucks...Even if I can be able to have the LED flash between the green and orange at the same time like it did when I had the Nextel Motorola ic902 would be nice..Just flashing green is like ughh...Don't know if its a missed call, voicemail or sms at 1st glance..
My LED only flashes green for 5 minutes when I have a missed email/text. 5 minutes is way too short for me, and I don't really see the point of having the LED for missed notifications if it only blinks for 5 minutes. Is this how it works on everyone's phone? Is there a setting to make it blink longer that I just can't find?

smsPopup, and chompSMS can be used to change the color of the LED if supported, which i dont think our Heroes do, because neither program worked for me, but both work on my friends G1.

Hello, i'd like to ask the guru's if it's possible to make a cab that will make the notification led work like this:
Blink green every 3 seconds whenever we are on an area with signal.
No blink whenever we are on an area with no signal.
Blink red as it is now (low battery).
Blink green continuously for every missed call/message/calendar notification we receive (as it is now).
Many Sonyericsson phones and especially older Ericsson phones work like this, most of you may be familiar with this.
Thanks in advance.
bump!!!!!!!!!
anyone????
Well, I think it's not possible, thanks anyway.
Nearly all HTC phones used to do that in the past... they disabled it for battery savings reason. A LED that flashes that way represents 20% of the standby consumption, which is a hell of a lot for little benefit...
Hi, it is good idea, and it is fine to have a possibility to select- use or not to use led as service light. Battery life is not as Nr.1 for some people, and vice versa.
Have had many phones that did the flashing LED thing, annoyed the hell out of me lol.
Hi there,
I found a couple cool apps for our Evo, and wanted to pass them along in case someone else was looking but hadn't found them yet.
LED Light - picolyl - This app turns on our led lights by the camera, and has a widget so you can place it beside your sense widgets for connections, etc.
Mirror for HTC EVO 4G - NeatoFun - This uses the front facing camera and shows the image full screen, so you can check out how awesome you look, or if you've got some boogies hanging out of your nose
Dolphin Browser HD - I used Dolphin Browser on my Hero, but this is a completely different app, it has been totally revamped and has themes and add-ins. It has fantastic multitouch performance also. I'm seriously considering replacing this as my default browser, which I would have never said before.
Google Earth - We can finally use this, Yay! Not so much on the Hero.
Quick Profiles - I've used this since the Hero came out, and it's a great app to manage and create system sound profiles, similar to the ones the old school nokia phones had. I have several set up, from vibrate, silent, loud, nighttime, quiet, normal, etc. It's a great app, I wish something like this was included by default.
there you go, some new ones for me and some favorites too. Enjoy!
Didnt know about that mirror app. Thanks!
what's so much better about dolphin, explicitly? I didn't see anything that made me want to use it when I had my moment at all.

did you use the HD version on your moment? It feels like a totally different app to me, and there's lots of improvements. but, to each his own.
Here's some more info, a video, and a small list of the new improvements.

I like the brightness options, but still think led light is a better app due to the widget. Good stuff though, keep it coming!
Mirror 4 Evo keeps giving me ads for Proactive.
I lol'd!
Great post man! Thanks.

I am wondering if one of my LEDs is burned out or broken. When using LED Light app, only the top led lights up. Same when taking pictures. Do both LEDs light up for those of you using the program?

Ouch, both of mine light up also. Sounds like you've got a bad LED. Bummer! At least it's under warranty though.

turn the camera flash to on and check if they both light up when you take a picture
My local Sprint store replaced it out. Nice and easy, and having rooted and having all of my setups in Titanium Backup made it all the easier.
Thanks for all your feedback.

Great find!! I'm enjoying these apps.
So used to one in my N1, can not imagine having a phone w/o one.
im interested in this also
i have seen from vids, it looks to have the LED in speaker mesh usually used for charging status like g2/desire z
havent seen anything on notification led tho

Yes, it's behind the speaker on the right of it.

Isn't the notification led used for text messages, missed calls, etc, the same led thats used for indicating if the phone is on charge or not?

Thats how it was for my G2...
Does the One S have any?

Yes, hidden beneath the speaker mesh. Haven't seen it 'live' yet, but me thinks it may be hard to notice?

It's smaller like at the sensation but believe me you will see it
Tiny LED hole...
I find it not visible enough!
The LED light is coming out of one only tiny hole of the speaker and is a bit difficult to see...
Seeing the size of those holes, a normal led would light 2 to 4 of them...
PS : Sorry for my english!
Hope you will get my explanation
Yes, I agree it isn't as visible as it is on some other phones. However, a family member has the Sensation XE which also has the LED under the speaker grille, and it is only slightly more prominent than the one on the One S. Wish it was as visible as that on my old Desire (which you could spot across the room), but at least it has one, unlike some other makes
Any chance of changing the colors or did HTC still stick to the green/orange combo only? I still miss my G1 in that aspect...haha.

I'm pretty sure it'll turn yellow/red.
The LED of my One S know the colors red/orange and green.
The orange LED shines through the hole battery-loading-process. And it only changes to green when the battery is at 100%.
And at the moment I'm not shure what color is to be seen on notifications. I think green but I'm not shure.
I need an app that reminds me of a missed text/sms, because the LED stops after a couple of minutes.
I tried missed reminder, but that does not stop reminding even after having read the text message.
Does anyone know an app that works? LED notification for text messages.
Does "missed text reminder" work? Or any other app?
Thanks!
S.
Please try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=idv.wangyik.MissedCallReminder
I planing to switch to one s by 4 mounts, and report if work.

For this purpose I'm using "Easy Reminder" on my HD2.
I find this app to be the only one that's not draining the battery.
Not sure though if it'll work with ICS.
@decmk
In a post before, I have already written that "missed reminder" doesn't work properly. The LED does not stop flashing.
Anyone any experiences with "Missed Text Reminder"?
Thanks!

With SAMOLED, NoLED App is perfect...!
light flow works great
So, I rooted the device and opened up EX kernel manager. Clicked on Misc in order to change the I/0 to row, and saw LED trigger on the bottom. Thought it was odd, so clicked it. Switched it to battery charging, connected my charger, and bam. Up top, right below the headphone jack above the earpiece. Not sure if it's rgb, but very happy about this. Can't wait to explore further and we get some custom ROMs out for this device.
I'm no dev, just looking forward to what's can be done with this
Yeah, I had seen a similar post on the Moto X (2013) xda! However, as far as I know, no custom rom made good use of it. Counting on you
I'd love to see the option of choosing which notifications light up the LED and which goes to Moto Display, since there isn't an Amoled on this device... Like priority notifications go on Display so you can interact, and things like games notifications on the LED.
But maybe I'm dreaming!
@dictionary : Thanks so much for the good news.
Been a great day for the MXP - rooted + LED notification all in 24 hrs.
Does it get any better than this!
I've had mine just under a week and so far have been really satisfied with my purchase.
I was missing Xposed and getting to grips with the lack of a LED for notifications plus realizing just how many ads I wasn't seeing before so it's a win win day for Motorola fans.

If you have root, you should try to install Light Flow (lite) and see if it can interface the LED on the phone. It was working on my Nexus 4 (with root). That would be a good reason for me to root my moto x play now...
Please report if you do.
Thanks!

Good news! Unlike osprey, where some hardware needed for LED notifications without the charger plugged in is missing, everything needed in hardware for LED notifications is present on lux. I got LED notifications working nicely on the stock ROM with my kernel (that is under development).
Great news! Looking forward to hear more.

I think it's white only.
My kernel build with LED support is up on the original development section.
I don't think it's a notification led. It's too bright and intense that it could be a little dummy flash for frontal camera. I think that motorola released this device pretty soon and hide many components that were planed but not finished.

It's a notification light. They are used so that you know when your device is about to die on battery, or when it's off and next to dead. Otherwise you'd be hard pressed to know.

In the Moto X 2014 model, there was a green LED that would light up only if the phone was too dead to even light up the display to show the "dead battery" icon.
I'm guessing the same is true of the LED here, but luckily we have a kernel that uses the LED for notifications. Works really well with the Motorola flip cover for this phone!
Does someone has a picture of the LED working? I'm curious about it.
