Media Player that doesn't waste battery? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

Hey Folks,
I'm new around here so please don't kill me
I got my Topaz four days ago in Shanghai. I really like the experience and since then the phone came with a HardSPL already installed and a modified ROM (The shop didn't have a native english version so they flashed one for me) I installed Dutty's 6.5 R6 Ult the next day.
When I use the phone more or less normally, everything works fine and battery life is enough (could be better).
However, I like to use my phone as an all-in-on gadget so i don't have to carry a MP3-player with me.
I would love to continue that with my TD2 (It worked perfectly on my Samsung TouchWith SGH-F480 which did about 15-20 hours of uninterrupted mp3 playback on one full charge).
The problem really is that the music player seems to prevent the low-power state for some reason with the result that the battery will be drained within about 4-5 hours which is way too short since on normal days i have my phone playing music for about 8 hours.
To make a long story short:
I'm looking for a music player that can playback simple mp3 music (or wma or aac or whatever. One format will suffice. I can convert my music) without draining the battery as if i was playing a 3d game. Does that exsist or do i need to consider getting an extra battery or seperate MP3 player?
Thanks for the help =)
Cheers
Darkstriker

No ideas at all? :_(

have u tried s2p ?

Have it in the charger and play music, no battery drain there...he he
Seriously, there are tons of music players out there. Just pick what suits you. To me mortplayer or nitrogen works just fine.

Polaris as a media player

Hi. I am considering swapping my (t)rusty XDA IIi for an Orbit 2 but was hoping someone could answer a question I have.
I would like to get a big juicy SD card to store say 6-8 GB of music etc. How good is the Music playing software supplied? I presume there are other ones you can install if the built-in ones aren't up to it.
More importantly though, is it possible to completely disable the touch screen while still playing music? I'd want to start off a playlist and then drop it in my pocket. I cannot do this with my IIi because the touch screen is always active while playing.
Cheers,
Paul

You can listen to the HTC Audio player or WMedia and switch off the phone. The music still plays. There area also applications like s2U floating around that also lock the screen from touch. I currently have the 4GB microSDHC and it is spacious.
Thanks Raskell - I'm pleased to hear that.
On the subject of music files, can you confirm that the built-in players can handle AAC+ ? I'm sure I saw this mentioned on a site somewhere.
Cheers,
Paul
I would like to know as well. Quite handy to use this phone as a MP3 too saves me from buying an iPod
Ycan also use this product i use it with artemis and is great for music and radio with the internal antenna
i will use it when i have my cruise also.
I just downloaded an AAC+ file. It played in WMP as a defauylt without a problem.

Windows Media Player or HTC Player?

hi guys, im just wondering...idk if this was answered before or not but i couldnt find it in the search, ermm my question is, which player takes up alot of battery power? the WMP or HTC Player?
From what limited information I have (Never use either, i use TCMP) - I believe WMP uses a LOT more resources and therefor would logically use more battery
forget both of them, download nitrogen. so good! just installed it this week!
i hear good things about htc audio manager
does nitrogen take up more battery life than both?
I believe wmp will take up more battery since it's another program that you'd have to run. Same reason applies to nitrogen. HTC player is built into TF3D so it shouldn't drain more power than it already does. Just my theory, no evidence to back it up though.

Actually the HTC player in TF3D uses HTC Audio Manager. When you go to the music tab it actually launches HTC Audio Manager (or WMP depending on your settings), and its just a frontend to the player.

never actually done any "tests" as to whether or not tflo player takes up more memory...so i'm doing it now. one beef i have with tf3d player is that it takes like 30 seconds to even start a song after i hit the play button. sure it's convenient to have it right in touchflo but it's a pain in the butt to have to wait for teh music to start. i hit play before i started typing this and it's still not playing yet...
okay just finished - my memory usage went up from 40% to 43% wihle i was using it
just to be fair, ran cleanRAM on level 2 to hopefully stop whatever's open. wow, amazing, phone froze, soft resetting...
okay back up - usage down to 37%. okay and now i'm playing music and my usage is up to 39%.
on both touchflo's music player and on nitrogen i had my entire music library set as my playlist. well from my test it seems that nitrogen consumes less of the processor/memory than touchflo's built in music player - which should therefore consume less battery

Best Media player for stock fimware

i am currently sitting on stock firmware and dont feel comfortable flashing my phone. I like that i can watch movies and videos on my device but windows media player is really laggy and jumps a lot. what other suggestions do you guys have for media players for 6.1 pro...
coreplayer is not free but its really great. plays divx better than divx player for wm. though it doesnt do tv out very well sadly. but its good enough to watch movies on my phone full framerate.
yea i have been looking at that. I just cant justify spending like 30 bucks for it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
roush611, consider for one moment getting comfortable flashing, it is very fun! I was very hesitant too but now I flash weekly!
On to your question...I wonder if S2P would remedy the issues you would are having? It uses WMP as it's 'engine' but maybe it would solve these issues.
Search for TCMP, free version of Core Player.
well i flashed my g1 and it was cool for a bit but then i could never get it back to stock fimware. So i dont really wanna mess with that again.
I tried to download TCMP but it just crashes everytime i open it... I am kinda at a loss.
You can try Kinoma play free version. It worked wonderfully on mine, and s2p was previously mentioned by someone. Nitrogen is another if the other 2 dont wor for you but kinoma imorts your media library while the other 2 dont.
The free version of kinoma play doesnt let you use the equalizer but it was never a problem for me because htc includeds audio booster with its phones.
You could try Pocket Player http://www.conduits.com/products/player/
I have only used it for podcast and audio myself but I'm very impressed with it. You should be able to download a 30 free trial version.
I've started a thread about this, but Pocket Player is probably the best player out there. However, every app that I've found does one thing really good, and another important thing really poorly. YMMV, though.
Search for "TCPMP Tech1 PRO7 Digital Play HD StandAlone Version.cab". It's really great. It does flash videos better than anything I've tried. I think the forum is everythingdiamond.info, or something like that. Read and follow the setup info.

Music app that drains the least battery

I was wondering which music player app would be the best for battery life! Winamp, from my experience, is an avid power eater, and I'm not sure about PowerAmp :/
So, any feedback/experience from other players that you might want to share?
8 to 10% per hour on mp3 is typical, more for aac.
Use stock player. As khaytsus said, 8-10% in a hour is pretty normal!
any battery usage trade off i make with poweramp is 100% worth it to me. that app (pro version) led me to sell my ipod, and just buy a bigger sd card for my phone.
Mixzing Media Player is the best!

Woah that is serious ah! =)
Download Osmonitor from the market & check how much % of the cpu is being used.
For the desire HD, the stock music app actually uses less than 5%, while songbird was using 20-30%.
@Soulofkorea: It's the ugliest!
But yeah, PowerAmp = Nice polished UI, EQ and overall awesome!

The quality of my life would be greatly reduced if I did not have nostrils.
Music apps that require network access (to DL album art, lyrics, etc.) will use more battery and data. So either turn these features off or use a player without those.
I routinely use poweramp and have not noticed it being a battery hog with wired headphones or bluetooth.
hmm.. winamp? drains less power 1 hour = 5%
If only Winamp has EQ.

Minimalistic players use the same codecs everyone else uses, with very few exceptions, and in general it's the codec decoding which uses CPU and therefore battery.
Otherwise, as mentioned, downloading album art or scrobbling will use more as well, but generally can be disabled.
So basically, in your experience, most players consume the same power, as long as their network options are disabled?
Thanks for the quick replies

Battery Drain using Music Player

I would like to ask everyone what is their experience in playing music in the background. I am on the fence on buying the phone. I am always on travel(like 1-2 hours per day). Music playing is a big deal to me. I mostly used the offline mode buts that's me. What is the average drain on the battery? I have seen some of the issue with regards to music player playing in the background whether its online or offline mode.
This are just some of the article that I have found regarding the topic.
