Hi.
I don't think this is an easy one, but I'll ask anyway.
When you use "Pictures & Videos" to select an image to use as your Today background, you are given the option of "Transparency Level". I just wondered if there's a way to select what colour is 'behind' the image when you do this. At the moment, it's white (or close enough), so the image gets lighter with more transparency. I would like it black, so that the image gets darker with more transparency. Realistically, you should be able to assign any colour, so you can almost colourize an image by altering its transparency.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

It is not a " white colored " background. It is a " lack of color " background, no image.
You cannot overlap two today background images.

I don't want to "overlap" two today background images. If you read the question, you'll see that I've explained the background colour is white, which it is.
Set the background image to 100% transparent and you'll see white. A background with a "lack of colour" would actually be black (see transparency, 0 value colour etc. for both windows & web development.)
Something, somewhere, defines that white is used as the background colour (it may actually be an overlay for the image, with inverse transparency, as opposed to a transparent image over a solid colour.) This may be a registry entry, but it's just as likely hard-coded into the OS. Either way, that is my question.
Thanks for trying to help.

I've got a 240x320 JPG image on my Storage Card that I want to make a background on O2 today. I know I can go to Album and pick the file and set it as a background but it doesn't appear 'full screen' as a background and has a white boarder all around it.
I tried increasing the image size to 600x800 as a test and it does the same. How can I get the image to fully fit the background?
Also, if there any way to change the text colours that appear in the menu drop-downs, etc.?
Finally, what's a good FREE way to be able to create a .TSK file?

hi ppl.
i want to know how to remove a coloured bar that displays on the homescren by default. i am attaching a screenshot of my homescreen for your reference. the bar displays where 'Hutch' is written i.e. where teh operator name shows.
secondly, is there any way to make the top and bottom bars transparent so that any image covers the entire screen, but retains the icons n text (eg. edge icon, contacts field, start menu etc?)
anyone ?
You need to modify that theme. Upload it and I'll do it. It's located under ApplicationData\Home\xxx.scheme.xml
thanks pal. i am attaching the 'simple home' xml and a screenshot of same.
i would like the following things to be edited:
1. no top n bottom colour bars (should be transparent to take colour of any picture i put as wall paper)
2. no colour bar where it says 'Hutch' (operator) - same effect as point one.
3. Would it be possible to reduce the font sizes too ?
thank you for your precious time and patience.
Here you go.
Oh, it is not possible to remove the bottom.
@frauhottelmann
yeehaw !!! thanks a ton pal. the home screen looks real cool.
don't want to overstay my welcome but is there anyway to keep changing the lower bar colour ?
theres a software called base hue express. that changes the bottom bar colour. but i dont think it can make it transparent.
In home screen settings you can choose Color schemes (only basic colors) otherwise you would have to modify the theme again!

I'm going to assume here, so don't get angry if I'm wrong. It sounds like you are using the "use background" feature in the system/today settings of your phone. If you open the picture you want for your background using resco photo viewer, you can then add it as a background and change the transparency of it to 0%. This will allow you to have the picture you want as a background with the true colors. I don't know if the i780 comes with a picture viewer but usually the default program on the WMD comes with one and it will do the same thing. Open it up and select use as background and change the transparency.
Just my two cents and I hope this helps.
Can I customize colors in Messaging, etc.? For example when I want to have WHITE text on BLACK (grey) background??? Or different font? I saw that theme (messaging - white on black) on new Samsung S8000 (i think).
Thank you
i STILL can not find any info...
I think you cant
i think you cant but you must to see on tha cpr files! it could be change in some other apps
Oh, it was not S8000, but Omnia Pro B7610.. sorry
Image is in attachment (from Areamobile.de)
I really like environment like in B7610 (black backgr. and white (grey) text), how I can do that on my Kaiser???
mm i think you can using the cab below. Word of warning though, be careful how much you change at once, i once ended up with a black tool bar and black text making it impossible to select correct soft buttons to get back to normality!!! Soft reset is required after each change which is a ball ache but i would suggest doing one tweek at a time
Hopefully it will do what you want it to
edit : you cannot select which screen to alter ie messaging, if you change the colour of the background screen to black as your pic, it will apply this to all background screens......... just a word of warning
Is it possible to add a pic to the strat screen backgroud? I know we can add colors of our choice.....so lets try and figure out how to replace a pic or othey types of screen picture
You're far from the first to ask. It's going to be very difficult if not impossible on the stock ROMs. Changing the color is already part of the phone's theme code, even though it only ships with two themes (light, which species the background be 0xFFFFFFFF, and dark, which specifies that it be 0xFF000000). Changing those colors is just a matter of changing theme values in the registry and such. There's nowhere to specify an image, though.
