Help ,please:Accidentally flash wrong rom - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

please do not kill me right away;i used a lots search before i decided write here.
here is what i did:
i flashed 32b rom on my 32a phone.of course doesn't work.
now i can go to boot menu but i didn't performed backup before so cannot use nandroid for restore. i read a lot about restoring from pc but im completely noob in this so i do not understand single thing how to do it.
i was thinking , can i just remote sdcard put it to different device, connect to pc and delete unwanted (update.zip) ROM and put there rom i want and then insert to my broken phone and install new rom from boot?
thank you a lot .

just repeat the step that you haved root 32a before
-copy proper rom to sdcard
-reboot to fastboot mode(back+power)
-fastboot with recovery image file(on PC)
-wipe
-flash rom
-reboot

im new also but does your device hang at start up screen when u boot. which rom this u flash? if it was a hero rom try and flash a 32a kernel over it and it might boot. again im new like you and im just throwing things out. i have flashed a few 32b hero roms on my 32a device and flashed a 32a kernel over it and it boots up. sorry if im no help to your issue

yes you can do exactly that. you are fine, your phone is not broken. it is not a big deal, you can fix it just do a wipe then flash new proper rom.

Just boot into recovery mode, perform a data wipe, and flash the proper rom. If you need help, let me know.

[Q] I need help, bad.

Ok so my nephew got a hold of my phone and i'm not quite sure what he did. I had my nexus rooted and I guess he tried to install the new OTA, it didn't work so he wiped the memory card and cache etc..
now the phone doesn't go past the bootloader. Is that what it's called? the androids on it and the options are Reboot bootloader, reboot, recovery, and power off.
when I plug the phone in it doesn't get detected. Am i completely screwed here? Please let me know. I tried searching but I realized i'm not quite sure what to even search for. Any and all help is greatley appreciated!!
it doesn't sound like you are screwed but you may have lost all your data not found in the /sdcard. a few questions; did you have a custom recovery installed? and can you get to recovery?
If you can't even get into recovery then you will have to use fastboot to flash your phone. it's not hard just search for the specifics.
Thank you! yeah I have clockwork mod v 3.0.0.5 i was playing around with that and there is a recovery option.
i was also reading about a nandroid backup (lol not too sure what it is). but it looks like i have to go into recovery and load that file. if i click on mount store or whatever it recognizes on my pc. im currently trying that and keeping my fingers crossed. if not ill have to look into reflashing the phone. hope i fix this. thanks a lot though at least i have another option hah!
Look at the top of your phone. It should say something in red text.
Usually this means you've lost the Boot.img or System.img so the phone can't boot. Pushing a custom recovery like Clockwork then flashing a ROM/restoring NAND backup will fix it.
1. Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
2. Mount it on your computer, enable USB storage in Clockwork Recovery
3. Paste it in there.
4. Unmount
5. Nandroid restore from that file
--- OR ---
1. Download a custom ROM (i recommend cyanogenmod because its awesome.. just my opinion -- flash gapps after CM7).
2. flash the ROM
3. there you go
but if you want OTAs and stuff like that.. use nandroid backup
FIXED!!! thanks dude. i pretty much had this last part figured out but was a bit hesitant to try it. instructions helped a huge deal.
thanks guys. really appreciate the help. saved me a heart attack haha

pease help get back my Magic and sorry for my english
Wipe every thing with your recovery , move the rom.zip and gapps.zip to the root of your sdcard , then flash first the rom then the gapps then reboot and see what hapens , good luck.
PS: make sure that you downloaded the right rom for your type of phone first !
thanks claude96,
1)is gapps necessary to run the Rom?
2)how can i know that the rom i want to install is OK? i want to install the cyanogen 6.1 stable.

Private message me and I'll help you out. I'll send you the files you need. I'll walk you thru it. By the way, if you want to access market then you want gapps.

I did not use cyanogen's recovery, so u should check the recovery about the USB Storage function. If there is available, it is very easy to use your computer to copy new ROM to your sd card.

it seems to be s-off (i bought it used) ...what have i to do for make it work again??
tnx.. and sorry for my bad english
same problem here, help is needed!
A golden rule: never update OTA on a modified device (custom ROM even modified Stock one, custom Recovery, Revolutionary hboot!, etc.)
How to fix:
do not pull battery!
flash a custom recovery (e.g. 4EXT) with the fastboot command (search for a how-to)
reboot to recovery, wipe all partitions and install custom ROM
Ok, to late with the battery, have already pulled that one out!
I also have S-Off on my phone, really dont understand the how to fix a recovery??
And is it really neccessary to flash a new ROM for this?
An official release that screwes the phones up?
I think the general issue is that an 'Official' OTA upgrade should not screw up your phone - enough testing by HTC should make sure of that.
Hoever, if you have modified your phone (e.g. by rooting it, installing custom recovery etc) then you can not expect to blame HTC when their upgrade doesn't work as expected. They can't be held responsible for problems caused by modifications you make to the phone.
But all I have done is S-Off, I have not installed another ROM or anything else?
So the update should work I really think!
Can I install a custom recovery without have to be able to start the phone?

The OTA flashes a new hboot also.
If you S-OFFed with Revolutionary your hboot has to be version 6.98.000x. This hboot has a protection and cannot be overwritten. This is the point where the update process is interrupted. The result is a bootloop, because the new system is incomplete.
If you can boot to bootloader (hboot) you should be able to flash a custom recovery with the fastboot command (in the 4EXT Recovery thread there is an attachement - a zip file that contains recovery.img). Extract the archive and flash it with this command from cmd (there is a guide how to make fastboot working in my signature):
Code:
fastboot flash recovery {path to file on your PC}/recovery.img
If this works reboot to recovery, wipe all partitions and flash a custom ROM. Then your phone should be working again.
Then if you want the OTA flash a 0.98.2000 hboot, then use the 1.47.401.4 RUU (if you are using European unbranded) or the corresponding for your brand/region to return back to complete Stock and S-ON. Then you will be prompted to update and you will have the latest OTA on your device
Okay, I have now fixed the 4EXT Recovery and it is working!
Do I have to put a new ROM on the SD-card or is there another way to install a ROM (from cmd with the ROM on the computer etc?)
I dont have an adapter to the SD-card, but maybe I can put the ROM on the sdcard with a command in cmd aswell?
What ROM do you recommend to use? (sense, no sense doesnt matter)
Edit: I did a backup as well, thinking that I should do that...
Can you link to zip file you used for recovery i have exactly same issue and same software versions as you have.
@ Mooler. First of follow the guide that was posted here regarding the adb-drivers.
After that download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=631186&d=1308596026
Then install that one as described with the cmd-command.
After that just put a custom ROM or a shipped ROM on the SD-card, wipe data/cache and install the ROM you want. That solved the problem for me!
Good Luck and thanks for the help I got here! Xda always delivers
Damn this phone! After hours of fixing with this problem!
I managed great, installed new kernels, radios, ROMs etc. And the first thing I did was to drop it on the floor so the whole damn display cracked!
Thanks for both of you.
I managed to restore the phone quickly after i got the correct recovery file. 30 mins and custom ROM was up and running. Good bye official update.
Akerhage: sad to here, it really was hours of reading and trying before you get it right.

noob in need of help sorry to break the rules =/

i am a real noob =/!!!! i have a htc sensation, s off with clock work recovery, i have recently been trying to use i.c.s. i tried super cid-ing with i thought had worked but didn't, so i downloaded a zip file to upgrade my firmware, flashed the zip but it said it failed. so i just wiped and restored my old rom. a good few hrs later my sensation decided to fart so i did a battery pull to find my phone booting into h boot with a white screen with and unpacked zip file. i unpacked and rebooted now im stuck in a boot loop can any one please help ???? want my phone back
bootanimation loop? You really did a wipe? sounds like you forget it.
Just wipe it and flash again. Just to be certain, also wipe dalvik cache.
Otherwise your backup is meaby corrupt or something, I already had some corrupt backups with clockworkmod. For your original rom, do nandroid backup with aw amon ra recovery. That is saver.
Assuming that your backup is not corrupt, follow this guide
Do you want to go back to Gingerbread?
You need to flash the proper firmware Hboot 1.17.
If you are superCID'ed: Download it HERE. (Thanks to ziggy1001 for the firmware package)
If you are not superCID'ed: Download the corresponding file according to your cid and mid HERE. (Thanks to Kohr-Ah for the User-Friendly Firmware)
Follow the same steps you've followed to upgrade the firmware, but this time with the Hboot 1.17 PG58IMG.zip file.
Flash superwipe script for sensation
Flash Gingerbread ROM
Flash recommended radio
Or you can just restore your Gingerbread NANDROID backup, if you have one, AFTER downgrading the firmware and flashing the radio.

You need the correct firmware and radio for your ROM. Alternatively, you could use that guide to try upgrading to ICS again.
yes always wipe b4 restrore or new flash just to make sure there is no conflictin files, have tried all that but it goes back into boot loop. tried flashing the rom i had first. just bootloop then when i go back to recovery there just this update. im guessing from the firm ware zip that didnt work. thanks for the help guys its doin my head in
Just to make sure, you removed the PG58IMG.zip from your SD card, right?
so if i take it of it will sort it self out???
Yes! It should. You definitely need to remove that zip.
From the same guide that I linked to before:
Remove the sd card from the phone
Hold volume-down + power to boot into bootloader.
Wait 10 seconds until the bootloader is fully loaded
Now your bootloader screen should read:
-Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-11.22.3504.07M
Insert the sd card now
Connect your phone to the PC via USB
Navigate with the volume button and select recovery with the power button
Wait for the recovery to boot
Select -Toggle usb storage-
Phone is now connected in USB storage mode
Delete the PG58IMG.zip file from the sd card in you computer
Select disconnect
Press back to return to the main screen of 4ext recovery
You are good to go, continue to the Flashing the ROM section.

Safe, thank you very much will crack on with it and let you know how it goes. Thank you again.
thank ou very much, have sorted the boot loop, have flashed with miui but its keeps restarting it self =/ why is this ????
you mean it Starts up fine, then after some given amount of time it restarts? Or during booting?
yes that is what i mean sorry. goin to flash back to my old rom.
If you can boot it, and actually use the phone for some amount of time, then it reboots randomly. Sounds like a Rom, or undervolt issue. Maybe try a Different Rom
Thanks all for your help, have flashed a new Rom and really happy with it. Gonna leave it alone so I dont break it again
Glad to hear that

[Q] Error While Installing New Rom

Hey Hi guys, Hope every 1 is fine
Yesterday i root my Htc Desire-S and after root i forgot to install Superuser and installed custom rom and after restarting phone it restart again and it goes automatically in recovery and then i restore my backup and install superuser but after that i install custom rom again but got same error phone restart 2 times and on 2nd time it goes to recovery mode automatically..Please tell me solution
your device is running sense 3.5/3.6 as i understand from your post,
but still a mistery to me is the:
- is your device s-on?
well, if that`s the case,
you`ll have to flash boot.img, of the rom
manually (separately) via fastboot ( pc-ADB)
- name of the rom and its android ( and sense- if present) version
-which recovery (you use), try to flash the rom, with
-The very good habit is
fully wiping your device (all except sdcard)
before flashing another rom
Yah it is S-ON n sense is 3.5 and i wipe everything except sd-card but same thing happen after installing new rom but when i restore backup it is working fine with backup and i try to install 2 roms but got same error..

have you flashed boot.img
via fastboot,
any time your phone failed to boot,
if you have not,
then next time trying to flash some nice rom,
after flashing it in recovery,
reboot to bootloader
adb reboot bootloader
...and flash boot.img
extracted from the very same rom
you just flashed.:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Only after that,
every other custom rom will boot on your device,
( actually- anyone fitted for your device naturally)
It may sound funny but...
make sure you flash roms for <saga> specifically,
asgardr is spot on again, u need to flash boot.img everytime u flash new rom coz ur s-on. But in future, download 4ext recovery updater.apk and install it (below) and in settings u can enable Smart Flash for s-on devices, (flashes boot.img when u flash a rom) see pic
