New Update of Official Sense UI Released in HTC TW - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Version Info:
RUU_Sapphire_ChungHwa_3.03.751.4_R_release_signed_NoDriver
SPL:1.75.0007

Dude you're late. We already know

I'm surprised that it's still based on 1.5

I'm attempting to install now, I got HTC sync to work and I ran the update only to get Error: Custom ID invalid. So from my understanding I can make this work by using a goldcard? now... following a guide on how to make a goldcard it says to run adb command, i tried to run this in cmd on windows but i guess the post meant to run it on the android but I dont know how. guess i'll try a mod instead, update.zip?

New Root Method for *ALL* HTC 2.1 Android Phones

http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php?t=2757
The link above is for instructions claimed to work with all HTC 2.1 Android handsets. I've been trying to get this to work on my Hero but I keep getting stuck at step 7 with my phone offline and unplugg/replug USB does not change it from offline to recovery. Anyone else have luck with this?
why not use unrevoked or the the how to here
Won't work for me. I'm not using Sprint and my build number is newer than Sprints so I can't flash it.

bummer.. well i would ask the op of the root method on that other forum. i haven't got a clue about that root method.
Check out Droiddog.com site, they've posted a video (actually a two parter) on this rooting method... It is not easy.
I'm pretty sure you can just flash the RUU that has test-keys, and then root that.
Use Regaw's
Like mrinehart93 said, just downgrade to the RUU ending in .5, then follow these instructions.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572
If you follow them exactly you will end up with rooted stock 2.1 with that same RUU. I actually just rooted for the first time except loaded this ROM, which is stock using the updated RUU.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703267
Good luck.
dosnt look easy though !!
I appreciate the responses so far but you all still don't understand. I'm not a Sprint customer, and my current software version is 2.36.556.1. I CAN'T downgrade to one of Sprint's RUUs (already tried just for kicks).

just tried, step 7 adb devices and nothing i dont get any kind of recovery menu. only the initial white screen recovery, no offline device menu
I'm thinking that the problem is Windows not executing the adb devices command fast enough. I'll have to try this again later booted into OS X or Ubuntu.

Trouble rooting rogers dream

my intent is to get android 2.1 on the dream from 1.5. I have tried the old method of using adb through cmd, however as soon as i type root shell it says permission denied and i have tried it numerous times on both 32 and 64 bit windows 7. I than tried using flashrec which keeps saying fail to flash....anyone know whats up?
First this is a Question so it should be in the Questions and Answers section. And there is also a search option or Google. Not sure if you have the 911 patch for Rogers with the perfected SPL but if you do use this, if not try this.
You need to use the root method for the Droid (exploid) if you've already upgraded to the perfected SPL (911 update)....
Click here and follow this guide.
If you don't want to flash a CM rom, just download another rom and use it instead of the CM rom mentioned in the guide.

[AlphaRevX] Public Beta 2 for Desire S

Hi guys,
The day has arrived:
AlphaRevX now includes support for the Desire S (HBOOT 0.98).
Hop on over to http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
We'll use this as a support thread.
This version will also download and flash custom recovery if you want to, after getting S-OFF.
Note: the very first download missed some DLLs for the windows version, that should be included now.
Note2: There have been some reports (on dinc2) that the windows version might not always work like it should. Please report errors with that as descriptive as possible. The linux version should always work like it should.
great news! is there a guide for a noob like me on how to s-off my Desire S using this software? thanks
FAILED
Hi there,
I've just tried to S-OFF my european Desire S several times, following the instructions posted for the Incredible S. Alpharevx connects to my phone, reboots to fastboot, waits, reboots to fastboot (again), waits .. then says FAILED.
I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or there's a problem with the windows version as you reported.
Thanks for the effort any way
EDIT: Downloaded the Linux version and it worked. I am now S-OFF
Hi, AlphaRevX didn't work for me on Windows either, but it succeeded on Linux (Ubuntu 11.04). Anyway, thanks a lot for your effort, AlphaRev team
@taipan_snake - Could you please guide me on How To S-OFF it on Linux ? I also have a Ubuntu installed. Thanks !
@badeaioan:
Well basically these are the steps that worked for me:
1. Download the Android SDK from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2. Unzip and go into the folder you just downloaded
3. Run the 'android' application within the 'Tools' folder
4. Select 'Available Packages', and select 'Android SDK Platform-tools' and 'Android Compatibility package', and install these.
5. Make sure ADB can see your device by cd-ing into the SDK folder, and then the 'platform-tools' folder, and running './adb devices'. Your device should show up (mine had a string of question marks, but it should work as long as it is there)
6. Download AlphaRevX and get your beta key
7. Run AlphaRevX as root, and follow the instructions, and you should have S-OFF
Hope this helps
Sad windows version under review
-I tried the incredible version(long time ago ),(no SDK used) and it said my phone not suported bla bla, but the fact is that it was detected (with usb debuging on and phone conected in charge only)
one question: Do i need to get temp root for this to work?
Finally !!!!! AlpharevX - a software s-off. This is awesome, for s-on guys for obvious reasons, and for s-off guys too. This is surely gonna increase dovelopment here !!!!!
Thank you for your response.
The problem starts on running AlphaRevX.
When I open gksu and try to open it, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong ?
@badeaioan:
I just used Terminal, cd-ed into the directory, and ran 'sudo ./alpharevx', and it worked for me...
EDIT: I think I now know what you mean... it's only a command-line app, so it would only run from terminal...
Thank you again. Finally I am S-OFF !!! Thank you AlphaRev X !
Also now S-OFF! thnx to the AlpharevX guys!
also s-off great thanks! Let the rom madness begin.
That's a great news! But question, before I try to S-Off.
Can S-on be restored using RUU after Soffing my device?
I would like to keep some warranty options available after all
/Chie
It's working on my Desire S. Finally S-OFF-ed...
Thank You!
Hi
I am new to linux and i am getting a "waiting for device " message when i try to run the linux version.
I have googled to my wits end but can't work out why it is not detecting my phone.
Can anyone shed some light please??
@jh787:
Hi, have you installed ADB and made sure it can find your device?
great news for all you s-on´ies
hope to see some of you around in my development post for saga lbc mod.
happy rooting, flashing and playing
regards
Hopefully things brings more dev to the htc desire s
Works perfect from Linux (Ubuntu), and so easy too!
If it isn't working, remember you need to have USB debugging on for ADB to find the device.

Revolutionary 0.4pre4 does not work

does any have the actual download files for revolutionary 0.4pre1. You cant download previous versions on the website, and from what it looks like there are a number of people that cant get thier latest version to run at all.
thx in advance
You must download the drivers for the phone the thread to get just the drivers is stickied in the sensation section.. trust me it works. Also install htc sync on pc.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G
v4 works fine, you just need to run it 3 times as you'll get the 'communication has been lost' error. After 3 times running it it'll say you're already S-OFF and do you want to flash CWM
I have all the drivers ,that's not the issue. I mean the program wont run like It's a software compatibility issue. I already ran it as a administrator and etc.then after googlingfor hours I saw 0.3pre version and it ran but its not supported for the ota update of gingerbread which is why I'm hoping someone has a previous build of the program.

Unistall HTC Sync. Worked for me

[Q] Can someone point to how to root mytouch 4g slide, S-Off or S-On

I previously had a Motorola Cliq and had no problem rooting the thing, but now I've got the MT4GS and it's giving me a headache. Since we're probably not getting ICS, I figured I'd experiment with some of these roms (pyr-o-ice sounds great). Problem is, I don't know where to start/the easiest way/any way. I tried the revolutionary method via unlockr.com and my computer (windows developers preview) won't recognize the drivers/neither will my other windows 7 computer. I can't get them to sync up. Because of that, I can't get my token ID to use that guy Hasoon's noob tool. I'm sure this has been answered before, but any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
get the drivers from here
Yeah so I got the driver, clicked install, and then boom. Still nothing happens. Windows recognizes that it's an " HTC Android Phone USB." But HTC Sync doesn't recognize it. Does that really matter?
try mr root....? lol never had that error
Yeah I've never really encountered it either. I downloaded Mr. Root (nice work, by the way), and I'm not sure what the instructions are for that because it automatically stops working as soon as I open the .exe cmd
Could it be the USB cable I am using? The divers say that they're not compatible with my version of Windows, but that doesn't seem to be the case. When I use the Revo tool it just says on the cmd prompt "Waiting for device..."
I thought you needed to exit HTC sync to make it work
I think it is the version of windows... Download linux? Ubuntu...? Borrow a computer...

No. Get rid of HTC Sync. It messes with everything while trying to root.
When I rooted, I had problems until I remembered to exit htc sync, but that was ages ago when we first got root.
Alright, cool. I'll give all of this a shot and check back in..thanks! This phone kicks ass, I can't believe we're not getting ICS
kk DONT run mr root with admin priviledges. It will messup. And also in the beginning type yes to enter device mode then plug in your device when prompted. Oh and also you should be using windows to operate it
It was either HTC sync, being an administrator, using windows dev. preview, or all of the above. Either way mr root worked w/revo, and now when i fastboot at the top it says S-Off RL. I assume that means mission accomplished? Thanks to everyone who helped out! This was definitely frustrating lol. Time for some stable(ish) ICS. Any recommendations?
I used the instructions given in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286324
cool kk thanks your done no go flash a cool ROM
I'm using Pyr o Ice desensed and it's ridiculous. Considering trying out your AOKP Wildchild Ice rom, but I'm still having fun with this one. The gap between gingerbread and ice cream sandwich is monstrous. The OS is basically as smooth as the iPhone now, which really says something about how far its come along.
