I have an O2 Xda Mini S, running Windows Mobile 5.
I would like to upgrade the O/S to 6.5, without disrupting my phone's ability to make calls and without deleting my address/phone# book.
As I understand it, it is technically impossible to upgrade from 5 to 6.5 directly, but it is possibly to do so incrementally, from 5 to 6.0, from 6.0 to 6.1, and finally from 6.1 to 6.5.
Could someone here guide me through how I do this? Indeed, from where do I get the upgrades? I've looked for guidance on the O2 website, and found absolutely nothing!
Alternatively, would it be possible/sensible to install a Linux-based O/S to replace Windows Mobile completely?

No such thing - you would have to buy a phone (and it would not be a HTC Universal) with WM v6/6.1 installed already.

I have an HTC Touch HD with Swedish Windows Mobile 6.1. I very much want to use the PIM program called Pocket Informant. But when I try to install it, I am told that my platform is not supported
Is there any way that I can still go ahead and install it? Or is there a great chance that it will not work, even if I should not be able to install it?
I am quite annoyed that I cannot easily replace my Swedish OS license and installation with an English one, but that's another discussion....
I guess my question merely is; Is there a tweak that can be carried out, to run English Windows Mobile programs on non-English installations? I don't know Windows Mobile that well, so I have no idea whether this would actually be possible.
On Windows based PC's, this works. So I thought it might be the same on Windows Mobile devices?
I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my HTC Touch Pro 2 from windows mobile 6.1 to at least 6.5.5. If so, is this difficult to install and where can I get instructions to do so safely. I am on the Sprint network. Sprint has not given me a date where there phones will be upgraded to 6.5 and I do not want to wait as my phone crashes a lot and I constantly loose my contacts and all settings.

well my HTC Mapel S520 originally ran on windows mobile 6.1. But then i decided to upgrade to windows mobile 6.5 as it was up on the HTC website.
Is there anyy way I can downgarde back to windows mobile 6.1. I dontt like version 6.5. Its to slow and theres not much of a change and half the sofatwares i had before are not compatiable anymore.
So please help is there any windows mobile software for windows mobile 6.1. I need to downgrade.
