Im having issues with my TV OUT function. I get sound but no video. I bought a different cable with the same results. Ive tried all the PAL, NTSC settings as well. Even tried on a different TV. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you try using an audio cable as the video cable? With some cables their colors are night correct. Sometimes the yellow is not the video.

I did try that after i posted this and still no video on both of the cables that i bought for the phone.
have you enabled video out? if its not an official htc tv out cable you need to set hklm\software\htc\h2w\tvoutcablein to 1. give it a swing, if thats the issue, theres a software to easily enable that in the future.
I 'm using original HTC TV out cable & it is working

changing that registry setting did not work. When i plug in the cable it asks for the PAL or NTSC setting. But still no video.

Connector broken?
Hi,
Maybe your connector on the bottom of the device is broken or dirty. Check it and when it's dirty, remove the dirt. When the connector is cracked, pry it back in position with a tool. (I've read about it here on the forum somewhere, can't remember where. Sorry!). Or call customer service and send it in for repair.
You could also try to pull the plug out of the connector a little bit. My TV-cable gives a black 'n white and noisy picture, this trick fixes that for me. Hope this works for you too.

could it be something like a displaylink plugged to it?
i remembered someone did something similar onto a nexus one by reversing the USB port to be a host instead of a slave.

any ideas?
or maybe the nexus S does has a video out device.

true, maybe they did just open up a phone remove the screen and take the connections that would normally be used for a screen and hooked em up to the screen using google voodoo
how i hope there is some sort of external hardware to do video out.
i remember reading it somewhere that SGS can do video out via the 3.5mm jack, but not the NS.
www.intomobile.com/2010/07/02/samsung-galaxy-s-video-out-through-3-5mm-headphone-jack-um-yes/
or maybe like streaming straight onto your telly via DLNA. that will be awesome.
I would be interested in this as well, but sadly the SGS and NS are not 100% identical inside.
I used a 3.5mm jack output with a white and yellow connector thingy on the end, sorry for being so technical lol but only the sound played out through the tv no video using the youtube app.

that would make sense because it is you know, a headphone jack
I think his idea, was that on the SGS that wsa the video out port as well.

i bought a "ebay" 15 ft mini hdmi to hdmi and it works fine
there is no need to "turn it on" through the phone! its automatic
TRY going to the HDMI in settings and swtich "auto" to 1080p or 720p
ALSO make sure your on the right hdmi channel via input button on remote/tv

You have to push down on the phone end of the cable pretty damn hard.

I have a 5' micro hdmi I bought from amazon and the casing around the micro plug is a bit bulky and snags a little on the case of my g2x. I had to press firmly to get it to work, but it does work. I am going to take a razor blade to the plastic casing around my micro plug and see if that helps.
My 25 radio shack cable works flawlessly.

Hey all..
I bought myself a HDMI to mini HDMI lead for my Asus Transformer. Unfortunately I can not get it to output a picture at all. I have tried it on two TV's that both support up to 1080 signal, both tv's work fine with my netbook via a normal HDMI lead.
I don't have another device to test with the mini hdmi lead.. so I have ordered another lead just in case the lead is faulty. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I saw in another forum a couple of people reporting a similar issue with the Asus and I'm concerned my device has a problem :/
Any ideas?
The HDMI lead I purchased is this one below, and I have tried it on a Samsung TV and a crappy vistron.
Cheers,
Tim

Not sure what could be the problem cause mine worked straight out of the box no issues at all
Be sure to push the cable all the way in.
When you plug in the hdmi cable to the tablet a HDMI notifaction icon should appear next to the clock. Do you see that?
It seems to only output 720p and no sound, does anyone get sound over hdmi?

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I am not getting any HDMI icon notification near the clock when plugging in the lead. The lead is pushed all the way in as far is it will go..(the plastic of the lead is against the edge of the device).
The TV obviously see's that something is connected though as it goes from saying 'Check Signal Cable' when it's out of the device to 'No signal' when it's plugged in?
I wonder if this indicated a faulty lead.. wish I had something else to test it with
I don't have a transformer yet, but I'm on a Captivate phone. These phones have a TV-out accessory cable. There was an issue with some people's phones where they were shipped with the "TV-Out" setting turned on while other phones were shipped with that setting turned off.
Is there an option somewhere on the Transformer where you have to turn the "HDMI-Out" setting on?

Hopefully just the lead, not the tablet.
I figured out the sound issue, sound for me works if its plugged in directly to the HD set.
If I plug it in via a hdmi switch box no sound.
Good luck getting yours working.

There are a lot of stereo recievers that can pass through the video from an HDMI input, but will not output audio over HDMI. Your audio is probably still in that reciever box, but you'll have to get it out some other way. Try Component or Composite Audio cables.
Could you guys with working HDMI leads possibly let me know where you got yours from please?
If I can get the same lead (I'm in the UK) then I probably have a better chance of it working (if there is not a fault with the device).
Thanks

Hi,
I'm having the same exact problem. I plug the cable into my Transformer - nothing. I've tried to set my monitor to look for it, but it finds nothing. I see no notification on my tablet.
Here is the cable I'm using:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330550984450&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Fortunately, my buddy also got a Transformer (we both ordered from Amazon at midnight on the 26th) so I can test the cable on his device. I'm going to assume if it doesn't work on his then (luckily) it's not my Transformer that is faulty. Then I either have a bad cable or got the wrong one (can anyone confirm if the cable I purchased should work with the Transformer?)
Thanks.

Good luck with the test.. it seems this issue is becoming more common. Could you let me know the outcome as it will be useful troubleshooting my issue.
I'm tempted to go and pay £20 for the cable listed as working above..but what I really need is to test it with a known working cable.
another little update... I realised that my Canon camera has a mini hdmi output that is supposed to output video. The cable I have does not work with the camera either! So I'm hoping this is a good indication that the cable is the issue.
OK my issue is resolved... it was the cheap cable from eBay.
I bought an expensive cable from Maplin and it works fine.. the output from the tablet is grainy/crap and probably not worth the £20 I spent to get it working but at least I know the device isn't faulty
For once it obviously was worth paying for the better quality cable.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Just wanted to add.. the second cheap HDMI lead I ordered from eBay worked fine (picture is still a bit crap though).
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I avoid eBay for any kind of cables. If you're in the US, Monoprice has dirt cheap cables that I've used on lots of different devices without any issues. Not sure if they distribute overseas.
My hdmi only outputs at 720p as well. Isn't this thing suppose to output to 1080p? I have the official 3.1 firmware installed.
Can anyone help? I only get picture but no sound when hooking up my HDMI cable. Does anyone else have this problem?

Out of curiosity what's the setup? I hooked the phone straight into my TV and into my receiver to get better audio and both worked fine. Admittedly that was before the EE4 update, so let me check that out now for you...
Yeah I tried it, works great. Actually it's really an awesome feature that works a lot better than I ever expected. I suggest trying a different cable, I know they're hard to find but it wouldn't be the first time I saw a bad one. If that doesn't work it could very well be the phone, since I see someone else has this issue that would suck though.
sometimes the input on the tv has to be configured to select a "digital audio source" instead of analog (RCA) inputs that might go along with the HDMI input... probably not, but it might be worth checking out.
I've tried two different HDMI adapters, various HDMI cables, various HDMI inputs on my TV.. nothing, no audio ever plays. I have no idea what the issue is =\
I would love to know, so I'm going to keep an eye out on this thread.
ok, i bought this cable and it didn't work, the audio is working but the video doesn't it's messed up, and when i open some application, it will completely stop on working. here's the pictures of it.:
This what happens on the TV
This is the cable
Back part of the cable's box
so how do i do with this problem? or it's not a working version for my SGS i9000?
i am having the same problem, tv out not working i am on slim ics 3.2 with stock kernel.. i checked my cable is fine (i checked it on other vibrant and tv out was working) but not in my i9000 any solution?

The device didn't act weird, only the messed up screen on tv. Our tv is 32" flat screen philips. Xbox and other gadgets works fine.. I'll try it on other tv later.

Is the sound weird too? Try swithing PAL and NTSC modes. Try swithing one of the audio cables (red, white) with the video (yellow) cable.
Are you sure TV out works on slim ICS? If you wanted to be sure you could try flashing a stock rom, (not sure if any ICS rom supports it)
got exactly the same problem with exactly the same cable and 100% the same outcome. im on slim 3.3 with semaphore 1.0s
had the same problem way back with 2.3.x with darkyrom.. didnt care then but i do care now.. so how to solve this ^^
I tried it with other tv. With non flat screen, also philips brand. Doesn't also work the sound is just working but not the video, sound is not that good compare to phone itself and or speaker. I will try to change rom, I'll go back to stock, but i care about my temple run data. Because when i backed it up, and then came ics.. i restore app+data but the game was restarted. :/
I tried switching the red yellow and white cable. Doesn't work either. On slim ics, the tv out was option to enable/disable was working correctly but not on the tv itself. It could detect when the cable is plugged in. That was on galaxy s settings app on ics.

When I tried using a cable made for camcorders with my phone I got a similar
result.
My best guess is that the camcorder cables have a slightly different connector than the ones used with smart-phones, probably because the phone's video and audio jack is the same so it has to work a little differently.
I did manage to get it working though, by pulling the connector slowly out of the phone's jack and wiggling it a bit I got a clear picture, but doing so you lose one of the audio channels.
Good luck!
i made it work. you can either order the original samsung cable (not a camcorder one but the phone one) or i heard the Nokia CA-75U works too. the nokia one is about 2€ here where the samsung is 10€..
but fml, it works.
Has the cable ever worked to your knowledge? Have you ever used a different one?
I got one of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370496876842?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
and it works on CM9, AOKP, CM7 (basically all the ROMs I have flashed)
I got the same results as the OP when I first tried to do TV out but that was with a cable I already owned that came with a camcorder...
Bottom line is it will only work with a cable that is wired for the SGS (like the one I've linked to)
