Manually installed .APK's not in Market - G1 Android Development

Hi,
i just upgraded my Dream to CM4.1.9999. Did a wipe and everything works good so far. Before the wipe i backed u my aps with Astro. Now, on the new Rom i installed Astro and instaleld the backed-up apps. After installing them, when i look in the Market under "Downloads" those dont show up. In 4.1.4 i remember all Apps used to show up under there, regardless if hey were installed from SD or the Market. The reason why i mention this is, because now i wont get update notifications for those apps. Would be quite some time to reinstall each app from the Market.
Also, in CM4.1.9999 is it possible to turn of the Camera shutter sound?
Thanks!

Problems with Titanium Backup's "Integrate system app updates into ROM" feature.
I searched, but didn't find any documentation on this feature, so I did the adventurous thing and tried it out. It's supposed to replace the system apps in the ROM with the updated apk, therefore saving space in the system memory. But after the batch finished, all of the updated apps were completely gone...the originals AND the updates were deleted. Since there isn't a way to "undo" this function, I had to reflash the ROM. Does anyone know more about this option? Does it work with any ROM?

I faced the same probs. But here is a few tips to get back your app:
1. Use titanium backup, run Batch, uninstall those apps that you have moved to ROM (which already highlighted in Red)
2. Find install apks for those apps in Google, reinstall it
3. Reboot your device
4. All app icons have back
Have fun, mate!!

I had the same problem; with the Android Market app disappeared. I have tried to re-install it the way you suggest, but the app stops working when I start any download from the market. Even reset the phone to factory settings, but I have the same problem. Any clue?
Thanks!!!
I just did a hot restart and it was fine for me.

I was having a similar problem with my Galaxy Note on ICS 4.04.
Whenever I tried to integrate the Play Store it would delete both the update and the old app and I would have to reinstall the APK.
I also noticed recently that a few other updates that appeared to be integrated successfully reappeared in the list of available updates to integrate, like they reverted to user apps after a reboot?
What finally fixed it for me was selecting the option in Titanium Backup Pro *Menu; Preferences; Advanced Settings; Check the box "Auto-integrate sys Dalvik into"
I then did a backup of my launcher app, long pressed on the backup and selected "Convert to System App", then single pressed on the app backup, selected restore then selected app data only"
It prompted me to reboot, after reboot when I checked the"batch, integrate updates into system ROM" all the apps which I was having problems with had disappeared from the list, and appear to be integrated now.
I don't know if it was the reboot or enabling the option in Titanium Backup, but something changed.
I have some problems also
I used Titanium mainly to integrate the updates into rom in my previous htc sensation and in my galaxy s3 and it worked fine with them. Now it does not work properly with my galaxy s4. After the integration some apps crash, Chrome, Dropbox. Some of them only delete the update and leave the old one in rom. If I go to google play the update is there to be installed again or some apps just prompt for the update when opened. I sent an email to the developer but I have not response. I have used it successfully in my previous phones but it is not working in this one. Any help is appreciated.

Yep, I'm having this exact problem. First the apps didn't show up, so I performed a hot restart. They're all back now, but Dropbox, Chrome, G+ and others that were integrated are all crashing now.
I imagine it's mostly to so with new security features with the S4. If you're using an S4 please stay away from this feature until it's officially recognised as an issue by the TitaniumBackup developer. I'll reflash PDA shortly and report back if that resolves the problem.

I did reflash the phone with the stock firmware and everithing is good. I have tried some apps but it did not work. I just leave them there until titanium backup is updated. This is the most used feature for me and now is not working.

Sorry, I have been busy to come back. Well, some work, others no. Chrome did not work but I did google Maps, google play, and several other updates. I did not mess with ChatOn since if something goes wrong it could break S voice and S translator. I just did now Google music and Flipboard. Usually I have to reboot in order to have the shortcut in the apps or to fix the name of them. For example, after integrate flipboard is in the drawer with the name and no icon, it launched fine, google music was fine and worked fine. After reboot the icon came back. The only problem is that if does not work then I have to convert the system app to user in order to make it work. Yesterday I converted the jelly bean photosphere camera to system and it was converted but did not work. It force close, then I tried to converted to user app and it took a long time and just was frozen there. I stopped TB but the camera disapear from the drawer, since rebooting fix the icon or name problem, I did it. My phone did not pass the samsung galaxy logo on boot. It was just a black screen after the logo and pressing the power button did not power on or off when I pressed, only when I released. Lucky me that I did a NAND backup before this process and still I could access download mode and the CWM which I used to restore my phone with the backup in my external card. After everything was as before I started. Now I will be more careful when I do this doing a backup before starting.
Samsung Link update integration did not work, force close. Samsung Hub worked but when press the back button to close then force close. Group play seems to work since it opens and go to the start page and no problem when I press the back button.
Still having same problem
Several programs quit working after converting apps to rom. I couldn't get them to work and finally put the locked rom back in, then unlocked it again. I have a verizon galaxy s4 me7 sch-I545 and the update didn't help here.
i want to know if i do this method, does the phone memory will get smaller if i do this again if the system apps getting new update?
hey there,
i have to grab out this thread because i have problems too. almost every app i integrate into system rom force closes, when i try to start it.
even chmod a+x didn't make it better (but the other apps in /system/app are not executable, so this had no sense).
i'm using the latest cm11 nightly for the motorola photon q. is there a known solution?
I have the same issue with this function as rdefranx.
After the integrate process, all updates are fine and i have the old versions again which i have to update. Repeated the process with single apps with showing same results again.
I also sent an so to the developer, but that's a shame: You never ever get an answer if you have a problem with titanium backup.
The app is good and helped me a lot. But shame on the non existing support. Really disappointing and unprofessional. Oh yes: i paid for the app. Thank you.
Hi, I just quit using his feature. I don't know if will work with my note 3 because I don't want to have problems. I will be subscribing to this thread in case a solution is found.
Also happened to me 4 days ago using a Moto X. Except for me it also deleted the Google keyboard & play store among others.
So I was left with no keyboard to type with and no play store to download from. After a factory rest it meant that by having no keyboard I couldn't even type anything on my phone to create a google account to restore the aps & Keyboard with. I had to reflash the whole rom again, and will stay clear of integrating the apks. I did this 4 days ago, so i'm not sure if titanium has updated since then.
Same problem with me. LG G2 Mini Official KK4.4.2 rooted, after Integrating system apps in ROM almost all of them crashing. Don't think that has to do with titanium, but with the android version. I used tha feature on my old LG P350 (stock rom+cm) and worked perfectly. But now in kitkat is messing up. Btw i'm using the latest version of titanium pro

[Q] Installing apps after installing new rom

So when install a new rom, its a clean install so theres no apps or anthing.
to get all the apps back i just appbrain and install all the apps that i have sync'd from my previous rom.
this takes FORRREEVVVVEERRRR because it prompts me to install each app one by one from the market.
theres got to be a better way to do this.
i cant seem to find anything though, some people said to use titanium backup but that was even slower because it takes longer to prompt you to install each app.
is there some way that you can install a whole group in one go.
also assuming that i go from a 2.2 rom to a 2.2 rom, the apps that i have installed on my sd card, will they remain installed after i flash a new rom?
please help this would be flashing such a easier process!!!!
oh and i have a rogers captivate i896 on rogers.
thanks in advance guys!
Backup to your desktop before you flash, wipe, then use adb to mass install the apps. Cd to the folder you saved your apps in, "adb install *" should do the trick.
Could someone point me the direction of some tutorial or guide on how to do this as I'm not to comfortable with adb
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I would also suggest Titanium Backup. Appbrain is a pain because it asks you to accept and download the apps one by one. But with Titanium Backup you just go to the backup screen then do a batch reinstall of all missing apps. Plus, if you choose to you can also back up the data with the apps. So once you choose to reinstall the apps there is also an option that says reinstall apps + data. it might take about 5 min. depending on how many apps you have, but its just a push of one button. As far as the apps staying on your SD card, I don't believe they stay there. The only apps that stay are in the market and they are your purchased apps. Unless your using a new rom, sometimes the sprint apps are taken out and put on the sd card. Hope I helped. Take care.
cool this is the best i have heard yet on android os

First of all, you don't need root to use transparent widgets or change your lockscreen. There's a thread full of transparent widgets here on xda. You do need root to use transparent versions of system apps. You can change your lockscreen by purchasing the app Widgetlocker or flashing a custom rom that comes with a different lockscreen. The lockscreens you generally see in screenshots are from WidgetLocker, though. It's a great app & fully customizable... more than worth the $3.
Before changing any system settings, you'll need to do a nandroid backup via your recovery. This way, if you change anything and it screws up, you can restore from a working backup. You can also use Titanium Backup to backup your apps & data.
But really, the first thing you need to do is read. Read all of the stickies in your device-specific forums. Read everything you can until you understand, if you don't you could end up doing damage to your phone.
Oh, and you may need to install busybox to get some root apps to work. You can acquire it through the busybox installer in the market, or Titanium Backup. In TB, hit menu, choose "problems?" then choose to install busybox.

It is not safe to move everything to your sd card. Widgets, launchers, and a lot of system apps are not okay to move. Don't move any kind of alarm either. Third party apps that aren't what I already mentioned should be fine to move. System apps that need to run constantly are not okay. If you don't know what it is, don't move it. Stuff like the calculator would be fine. The phone app wouldn't. Plus, and I could be wrong, but moving system apps does not give more room for third party apps, but gives more space to the system partition. I could be way off, so you may want to look into that.

Hmmmph, well it worked fine for me before I was rooted. I installed modded apks all the time, just not of system apps. It may have helped to uninstall first then install the new app. Since what makes the widget transparent is stored in a res/drawable folder in the apk, it could've been the apk that you downloaded. Or I guess it could've been the method of installation. As I said, worked fine for me.

You should be fine moving third party apps as long as they don't have widgets that you use. If you're using a third party launcher like ADW or LauncherPro, don't move that. Other than that you should be okay.
If you're having a hard time downloading apps from the market, try going into settings, applications, manage applications, then choose the "all" tab. Find the market app and force stop it. Then clear cache & clear data, then relaunch the app. That should help. If not, you can try using AppBrain along with Fast Web Installer to download apps from the market. I've found this method to actually be faster for me. If you can't get to the market to download the apps, let me know & I'll post the apks for you. Once you've downloaded the Fast Web Installer, you need to open it & follow the instructions to allow it to install apps for you.
Flashing a custom rom might fix your problems as well.
Oh, and no worries, I'm always happy to help out. This community has done great things for me - I try to give back when I can

[Q] System Apps Missing After Flashing a Rom (G2X)

I know this may be a silly question but I have just started flashing ROMS though I have read extensively.
I flashed from Android 2.3.3 to CM 7 nightly build 30, I like the new roms but some of the system apps I had and backed up with Titanium Backup are no longer on my phone or in my titanium backup on my SD card. The two apps I miss the most are Swype and Polaris office.
What did I do wrong and how can I rectify it. I had to revert to Bionex 2 but I would prefer to use CM 7.
Thanks much.

When you install a new ROM on your phone, you are going to get only system apps which are backed into the new ROM. I guess CM7 does not come with SWYPE and Polaris Office pre-installed. The main purpose of custom ROMs is to remove any unwanted system apps which came pre-installed on your phone. Though if you want these apps you can find the .apk files for them and put them under system/app folder and restart your phone.
Try and find a thread in general section. There is one thread which has all the original .apk files.
yea cm7 dont come with swype or polaris that was a stock feature thats jus how they do there roms even if u backed it up in titanium u wouldnt see a setting to restore now as far as apps not being in titanim. go into titanium hit ur menu button n im pretty sure theres a setting that says refresh apps list try that bud.
Thank you for your response. I downloaded the app pack yesterday. It had Swype in there but not Polaris. I installed Swype but it didn't work it just kept crashing.
I'll try again though.
The missing apps I was talking about was Swype and Polaris and as you said those came stock.
I like CM 7 just wish I could have those two apps working on it.
The original swype apk will most likely not work...what will work is if you go to beta.swype.com and register for the beta, it will download the swype installer and then swype...which will work for your phone.
And go here for the original apk thread.
Polaris office is not that file, where can I find the apk for it?
If you scroll down a little bit, someone posted a link to everything that was in /system/app folder...I haven't looked in those files but I would assume it would be located there.

[Q] Titanium Backup(The app itself) won't install or uninstall.

Hi, this is kind of a difficult question for me to explain, but I will try.
I have Titanium Backup installed and it was working fine for a while.
One day the icon went corrupt and the app would not open.
Naturally I went to uninstall and reinstall the apk.
When I uninstalled, the app icon and links disappeared and the app ceased to function, but the app did not uninstall.
When I try to reinstall, it asks to replace the old with the new one.
The install finishes with "Application Not Installed"
I can not access Titanium Backup at all.
I have tried using ADB to uninstall and I have uninstalled from the manage applications. I also tried deleting the .apk from /data/app/.
Titanium backup will no longer show up in my Manage Application menu.
I made a flashable .zip from another phone and installed it that way, TiBu still did not show up in the app list, but all the files are in the phones filesystem.
Hopefully someone can help me fix this without reinstalling the ROM.
The problem phone: HTC Hero CDMA CM7 Nightlies.
Thank you!
I hate to bump my own post, but my thread seems to have gotten lost among newer ones and I do not know where else to ask for help fixing it.
