hi all,
I installed the new donut and everything worked ok (after a wipe unfortunately) but whenever any application requires root, the superuser app pops up and freezes which basically means i cant use my root access...
I tried switching between the adp version and the ota version but that didnt help - did anyone else encouter this?
i've migrated from JF 1.5 -could that be the reason?
seems like your sentence ends in a question mark.....

and yes, my sentence does end in a question mark - it's a good way to end a question imho.
(that one ended with a period and this one will end in a right parenthesis, to avoid further discussions on the matter)

Quick question on here cause I didn't see a forum for Samsung Behold II... I appreciate your help...
on my newly rooted Samsung Behold II with a flashed custom rom my wireless tether & Titanium doesn't work.
Do you know how to make them work? Tether says: Unable to start tethering. Please try again later. BUT IT STILL DOESN'T WORK.
Titanium says something about my kernal not being right.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but still the same thing happens. I hope you can help me.
Thanks,
Bob

slightly stupid statement.....What if he came here with "info" that could help g1/32B users despite his device? would you turn him away?
WE can learn from anyone...what if someone here had a Samsung Behold and a g1 and just cold possibly help him, does it truly matter? you didn't have to read this thread nor respond. if he needs help and you can help, help... if you don't want to learn and just remain one dimensional in the area of knowledge acquisition i see an intersection, utilize it

i wish i could help, but i can't. I would seek out advice from Maxisma if i were you. He seems to have posted the thread on rooting the behold 2. he'll prolly ask for logcat, blah blah blah. he seems to be the resident expert on the behold 2
If you ever have general android problems, you can always use the general android forums.
As to your problems:
1. Wireless Tether - requires ifconfig from busybox in /system/bin
2. Titanium - requires sqlite3 in /system/xbin
And now I'm moving the thread.
Ok thanks everyone! I have a MT3G and didn't see the Samsung here except for the Omnia. I thought maybe this would work putting my thread here cause everyone is usually VERY helpful in every other way.
Thanks for your suggestions. I have Googled and searched other avenues for several days and have ended up empty handed thus far. I hope to find my answer soon.
Thanks again

Greetings to whoever is reading this!
I recently got a HTC HD2 phone with JellyBean 4.2 or 4.3 installed, I'm not sure. But I've been having memory problems with the phone. Whenever I install too many apps, the internal memory of the phone goes low and I can't install anything. I used Link2SD to transfer the apps to the SD card (and yes, I partioned it correctly I think) but I still get the memory low warning.
My question is: Is it possible to downgrade from JellyBean to Android 2.3 version?
I think I screwed up a little, because while having the JellyBean still installed, I installed something else over it trying to downgrade. But that's not causing any problems so far.
I'm quite a noob when it comes to android so please bear with me. Is it possible to delete everything that is installed on this phone, and start installing Android 2.3 from the beginning? If yes, then can you please tell me step-by-step how it is done, or if there is any guide that I missed, can you point me to it?
Thank you very much!

@classic20 - You should be able to retrograde to Gingerbread in the same manner you would upgrade the phone. Also, navigate to the HTC HD2 portion of XDA, you may have better luck if you do some digging there.

Haha, I know how to search with the keyboard. When I said I am a noob, I meant on this forum and about Android in general, not the computers
Anyway, I wiped my phone with the help of a friend and installed Gingerbread 2.3 or something like that.
But, I would really like to thank you for taking the time to reply.

I want to root and make a titanium backup before getting to the stage of unlocking and ROMing. All guides/tools (I'm on a mac but have access to a windows machine too) seem to be an all in one solution that wipes, unlocks and roots.
Also is it only system stuff that's deleted? /sdcard/ will be left, right? Sorry for simple question. I've never had an internal memory only phone before.

You can't unlock your bootloader without wiping. And there's no rooting method, yet, that doesn't require unlocking the bootloader.

You guys may spend a lot of time on this forum, and that's fine. But just because a question has been asked before doesn't mean every person who visits here will have seen it. It's often faster to ask and receive answers that to spend time searching a forum.

Check the existing thread. Everything you need has already been explained.
@jonas.anderssen
Why exactly do you want to root? Because you have a specific need, a particular application that you can't live without? Or because it's super-cool to have a rooted phone? Rooting can be simple, but it brings difficulties, such as no longer being able to install OTA updates, so you're looking at doing manual updates every month every time Google releases a new version with security updates.

There are countless threads here and also dedicated stickied threads describing step by step how to do this. If you want someone to hold your hand and don't want to do any of the reading or work, then you shouldn't root your phone. Because you'll just be on here in a month crying about how your phone is bricked and wanting someone to hold your hand again.

Hello, i am sorry i thought i replied to you but somehow i missed it. I would like to root my secondary phone because i do have some apps i cant use them without a unrooted phone. I am aware that i wont be able to install weekly updates but thats not necessary because this is a secondary phone.
I have found out a website that shows me how to root it it asked me to download fastboot, recovery clockworl. beta supersu, android studio and hamemrhead mmb2. It seems to be a complex issue but i remember in the past i used ODIn and it rooted the phone within 10 seconds without any issue. Is that still possible?
Thank you again for your time
Ten seconds, no.
But the website says to download "hamemrhead mmb2", which I suppose is Hammerhead MMB29S. If all you want is root, and not a new ROM, you can do it easily by booting into recovery (CWM or TWRP) and installing SuperSU v2.66. It's that easy. 30 seconds, maybe.
And if you're going to work on your phone you need to work on your typing skills first...
You have an excellent resource in this Q&A section, had you read prior to posting your own thread, you probably would be rooted by now.
@Primokorn has created a thread to help folks like you with questions like this
