M ex nokia user, recently i got my hands on my dads htc s710.... I hv good knowledge abt symbian but windows is more complicated..... I m new to this site, frm last 1 week i m reading threads related to vox, out of 69 i hv compleated 52, hoping that i will understand everything but it helped me a little....
Cause u guys talk so technically. Is there any one who can help me ? Plz.......

1 why s710 called vox n what does tht mean?
2 wht is meant by radio version?
3 wht is win standard, classic?
4 what is rom and wwe, wht it means?

6 i know hard reset but, wht is soft reset and do the data on the phne memory will be deleted in soft reset how to do it?

Read the wiki for complete answers...but in short:

2.radio version is like the part of the phone that has to manage the "communicating part" of the phone....like making calls, receiving the signal, calls quality.wi-fi, bluetooth...etc..Different radio versions do different performances of the phone...and some seems to improve battery life.
3. Classic is for Pda (touchscreen) without "Phone capability", Professional "is for PDA(touchscreen)-Phones", Standard is for smartphone (non touchscreen)
4. ROM is the "mass-memory" part of the phone...where you store the Operating System and programs..if you have enough space ( think of it like the Hard disc of the OS for a pc). WWE means standard english version.
5. Read the wiki....basically. Backup of your data (contacts, sms etc..)>backup of the rom (optional)> Unlock> Flash SPL> Flash rom. Easier and quicker than it seems.
6. NO soft reset is a normal reset of the phone.Like you do when you shut it off, and then you power it on. Data is still there. HARD RESET...Deletes all your data...it's like having a phone just flashed with a ROM...(or in a PC when you have just formatted your hard drive and then reinstalled your Operating System)
7. Is this a question????? BTW if your battery lasts some hours...maybe it's time to change it...it's not so unusual.
8. It should be 6.0
It's your choice to upgrade...FOR ME, IMHO, all the way...phone gets better.
When you do it one time...you will do it all the time...with the pleasure of testing new roms...so you'll have your personal opinion about the best the suit your needs.

Where will i get latest official rom for my vox, i m not able to download it frm htc site. It says that the update is not for my device S/N.... Plz help, can any one give me a direct download link frm any other site like media fire, rapidshare etc..
look in the xda-wiki...also in the vOx page...there are a lot of roms, but i'm not sure You'll find the latest...(1.34) maybe.

With official roms you don't have to do the whole USPL thing...just plug it ot your USB cable (check that ActiveSync is connected) and start flashing.
BTW if you flash cooked roms...you have to do USPL,
Normally if you flash USPL than you can flash every cooked rom without worries, and without do the USPL thing every time...just the first
BTW if you flash a OFFICIAL rom after a cooked rom you restore again USPL.
So the next time you have tu USPL again.

but i did'nt understand..... As rom is a .exe file how can i extract a files frm it...... I dont knw....help me if u can......tht would be great....thanks in advance.

If you execute the exe file, it will give you the ROM image file, a nbh file. That IS the ROM file actually, others are just tools to write that nbh to your device thru activesync.

Thanks to all u guys, who suffered me. Sorry for the trouble tht i gave u. Finally i flashed my vox with fhm's win6.5 rom. Till now its working fine except wht i noticed is tht the bluetooth is not working properly, if any of u guys who is not fedup of me can help me out.... I dont knw abt wifi as i did'nt checked it yet. And accu weather is also not working..... Help needed......

Hi guys.
I did it... i screwed up my QTek S100! I tried to upgrade it, maybe the wrong files, dunno... now it is *dead* ! I only get a dark screen with "SERIAL V1.00" or "USB V1.00" if docked (should be bootloader mode). Nothing else.
Would you please be so kind as to help me in recovering from the disaster ? I do not have any backup, nor ROMs. I own a 512 MMC.

Do you still have the files you used to upgrade? What's the name of the file?
Also, leave the info on your previous ROM.
I had the same problem with my Qtek S100 when upgrading it with the new firmware. The upgrade process stopped/crashed the first time leaving my unit in the same state you're describing. But, what I did was simply to run the upgrade utility again and then it worked fine the second time.
I don't know where you're from but if you have a swedish unit like me you can get the latest upgrade utlity from this adress:

Looks like the same happened to me. Try to open battery cover (or remove battery for several second. Then put everything back and push Power button. Does it turns on (with hard reset)?
Nope buddy! The OS is gone! Whatever I try to do, it always starts in Bootloader mode (Serial V1.00/USB V1.00).
Try removing the battery for 30 minutes (or whatever time it takes for the backup battery to discharge). That should recover your previous configuration although I haven't tested it.

I would like to try upgrading my JAM...but now I`m affraid a little bit... :roll: Have U tried to update with the latest S100 ROM...the swedish one?...or the I-mate JAM WWE ROM...?

Is there a way to make a backup of my rom?
I have the qtek s100 with english rom.
Purchased seperate.
rom 1.03.00 WWE
radio 1.05.00 (upgraded)
extrom 1.03.100 WWE
Had the same issue with my radio version upgrade.
Scared the hell out of me ...
Backlight did not lit up ...
And an error apeared on my pc ...
But I was able to upload it when I tried again and the sync program of ms was killed.
If anyone knows how to make a working back-up ...

Beware though. I had once screwed my MDA during an upgrade and all it did was start iself in the bootloader mode. For some reason, I couldnt re-flash any ROM onto the machine and had to took it back to t-mobile and they replaced a new unit for me.

i Downloaded all the rom from the FTP site
1 finally worked then after that, i updated to the 1.12 Imate rom...
Can not tell you which one worked, but i had to copy it to a Memory card to do it
Maybe if you try the Windows Installers, 1 might work

1st of all,as the guys said,ur phone is in bootloader mode....it's not a problem,so don't be affraid :wink:
if u have'nt performed a flash before,am gonna try avoiding u flashing unless it's the last resort...
so bro,do the following:
1-remove the battery and leave ur PDA more than 2 hours without battery(u don't need 2 hours but am taking it to the limit),so that the backup battery will drain,all old data in RAM will be lost...put the battery again...and:if it restarts and enters OS,then congratulations,but if it doesn't,so u have to go to step 2.
2-reflash ur device:
-althought ur device is a Magician(at least this is what i think),all the procedures mentioned in my post(here's the link :wink: ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25830&highlight= should work with no problem,the main difference wil be entering the bootloader mode,but since ur already in it :wink: ,it not a problem anymore,this is why you have to follow my instructions starting with step 2(the link,ok).
my advice for u will be to download the 1.12.00WWE ROM from the ftp,coz it's the last one,and good luck bro

First of all: hello, I am new here
I just got a Magician (MDA compact) and tried to update it. But it failed and now it is in the bootloader mode. When I try a new update, it stops in step 1 after a few minutes. On the Magician you can see "upgrade radio stack, please wait".
Any ideas? I am a little bit confused, so much money and now it doesnt't work

u must upgrade ur device with the right OS,ur case happens when u try to upgrade with a different OS(eg:upgrading a magician with a Himalaya ROM),but with the same operator(eg:i-mate jam upgraded with i-mate PDA ROM,u pass country ID error,and run ClearJmpCode.exe,and it ends by a dead jam in bootloader mode... :wink: ).
so my friend,what u have to do,is to go to ftp,and search for a ROM update made specifically for Magician(try 1.12.00WWE),then follow my instruction in the above topic.....

I had tryed several times whit a lot of MaUpgrade(finded on the ftp site) but noway... The upgrade show me a window with the version of current rom and the version of the upgrade rom... but is empty! Then, if i click on upgrade, after a few minutes the mdac shut down and the program give me a 150 error... i don't know what i have to do...
I have read in some post here that is possible to do a backup of rom on sd card and to restore it.
If some good guy send me his backup files can i relive my mdac?

I had the same problem but i have found a way without upgrade it.
1. pull out your battery.
2. put in your charger ( not usb )
3. put in your battery and then again pull out your battery and then again put in your battery.
4. now you will see the phone is starting up and if you have calibrate your screen and the rest the phone gonna install allot of stuff but when its installing everything pull out your battery and charger.
5. put in your battery and press the power button and congratulations your phone is working again.

2) Extract only OS from whole nk.nbf
3) Flash this OS to your G3/G4 CID LOCKED Device (even wm6 rom or latest aku 3.3 rom).
In atachment there are:
1) ShellTool.doc - instruction. Read first and please, follow it step by step!!!
2) ShellTool.exe with some other files that it need
3) Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab - should be installed on your device

Hard to tell. This mda is my 1st win mobile device and when i flashed it 3 weeks ago i was also nervous. But if u will follow the steps in tutorial, nothing bad will happen. If something go wrong, just get the phone in bootloader mode and try flash again.
I was especialy nervous, when i flashed t-mobile rom to nbd and the phone didnt start up. It just show the 1st picture ips/spl, when u turn the phon on and here stoped.I was really pissed offf, why the hell was i flashing the good working phone. heheheh But, when i after 25 min. (cause, the buttons in 1 tutorial didnt work) got the phone in bootloader mode i was really happy. This mess happen again 1 week ago, but i knew how to operate.
Close all AV, msn, adaware etc.. and flash it.
Today i will flash my g4 with nbd 8.2 8mb pool. This version, whic i have now, with 6mb is very slow. Dont know why, but the phone is unusefull. nbd 8.1 and 8.0 worked flawless compare to 8.2 6mb. ?????? Can anybody explain that??

Are u talking about commanager?? Pres touchflow and then slide to the right or left. U close the "cube" if u slide up. To open the cube u have to press the touchflow and slide again. work perfect.

i know it may sound weird but the clock on my imate jama has stopped working and since it got stuck, i cannot use the power button to turn the device on. However the power button does work while the device is turned on and i can turn it off as well. I have tried soft and hard reset. Please help me out this problem since its warranty expired last month. Does it have like a backup battery cell that needs to be replaced? or is it like a software problem...BTW im running windows mobile 6 on it which i got upgraded from the vendor while it was in warranty...................

Wierd, is the clock stuck on a certain time? Are you sure your hard reset was sucussful?
If it definately did a hard reset, i would recomend flashing a cooked rom, or flashing an official wm6 rom.
Use the wiki or relevant forum to see what suits you best.
thanks for replying...yes the clock is stuck at whatever time i either manually change or the time of the last sync with the pc...I dont have any experience with flashing roms but i have found one rom, i guess the only one there is on the net for this device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-393307.html). i couldn't find wiki for imata jama. please help me find the wiki and let me know if there is another rom for this device that i can flash it with aswell...

hey the 6.5 rom was here as u probably know ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492981&page=3 but seems buggy as you say. You'll have to look on imate website to see if you can download original wm6.0 for your phone as i cant see it on here.
I dont know if you can flash magician roms to ur fone, they are similar hardware and lots of threads asking about jama end up in magician? i dont know....
id stick with 6.0 if you cant find anything else.
Thanks so much marsh for ur help... imate has the worst customer support ive come across therefore i'm planning to switch to htc.. i have done some extensive research and found that the 6.5 rom on that chinese site is being constantly updated with new versions coming out every now and then..and the good news is that im downloading a stable version of WM6.1 for me imate as i type.. I will post it at here at xda after i successfully flash it...

Well the 6.1 rom turned out to be in chinese so i had no choice but to flash the Wm 6.5..It looks very good but none of the buttons work and i cant view messages or send them. Also it does not connect to the pc using using active sync but shows that some storage device has been connected to pc and no proper drivers found for it. One good thing happended though, i came to know what the problem with the clock could be...Wm 6.5 showed on startup that my back up battery is very low and that i need to replace it..I'll get it replaced from the service center now....But im looking for a WM 6.1 english rom.... Can any body help me find it please?

Flash memory size - 1024 mb
i am attaching the images which showed on my phone during bootload.
when i try to update Magldr rom it shows me my rom image as 3.14.531.1 and Magldr image as 2.00.000.0 seems like lower version than mine i think this is the problem but i am not sure it turns up into boot-loader which is colored screen of red, green and blue and turns to improvement screen which is a percentage indicator and that is the end of process it never moves forward i cannot see any improvement in updating not even 1%, it just stops at 0% every time i wait for some 15 mins and i disconnect from usb.
please some one help my old sd version drains my battery just in stand my mode itself i need to charge 3 times every day. i hate wm 6.5 i dont even have any contacts in it.
i at least have tried 20 time updating, please guys some one save me from this hell.

i don't get u...first u talk abt MAGLDR ...then u talk abt old sd versions...
Have u performed a HARDSPL?...Put ur phone in bootloader mode n type out wat it show there...
did you have hspl3.must be have hspl3
try use the HARDSPL 2.08 to unlock first.. then install Magldr1.13 before you install the rom

no i said i am using sd version now but i have an issues with battery drain so i wanna move to NAND as i use only android i never use Windows, now the problem is i am trying to install MAGLDR as a process of installing NAND rom but it is not going through as per the issue details are in my original thread please read it so get my point.

4give me but i must 1st scold u for not using the site's search function or even taking out the time 2 read instructions carefully...I believe u got MAGLDR from here..If so then good, but did u not notice the clear instructions written in bold "You need HardSPL 2.08 before installation!"....Your not following basic instructions is wats giving u all d headache u r experiencing...U r truly lucky u haven't damaged (bricked) ur phone from playing wit it without performing a HARDSPL which can be read abt & found in dis thread...
Just download the "HSPL3_PKG.zip" in post number 2, unzip, load ur fone up in bootloader mode & connect 2 pc via usb...Run the HSPL3_PKG.exe and get ur device HSPL 2.08 unlocked....
After successful installation...reboot ur device 2 confirm ur spl now reads "2.08.HSPL" and d words CotullaHSPL are present.....Then flash try flashing MAGLDR 1.13 again...u should be successful..
Next time visit threads which contain stickies like "abt NAND"...Making sure u fully understand instructions already written...ROM devs and others have taken massive time out 2 write stuffs like this out, u should honor em by reading first....Also there are tons of videos out there + if ever in doubt? Google is ur friend.

No i did not download magldr from this source and i followed mdj Cyanogen rom video because i was about to try that in the video no where it showed about installing HSPL2.08 so i did not know that any ways u dont have to be sorry i believe u have rite to scold as ur helping me out with this, i believe thts a part of it. i went through ur thread i don't understand y it says 1024LEOs (from T-Mobile with 1024ROM) ARE NOT SUPPORTED becs in some other threads it said TMOUS with 1024 rom is compatable with all roms. this is so confusing im not a geek but trying to learn more.

if u can see in the picture i attached to thread my SPL-2.10 which seems to be upgraded version or some thing and my ROM - 3.14.531.1(04666) WWE seems to be too higher than what it is in MAGLDR, IS that a problem by any chance? sorry i am not good with these hanky panky stuff i mean software updating just getting started.

as far as I know HSPL3 is compatible with TMo too. as your SPL is 2.10.

Hey, its alryt...We both have the same device (TMobile HTC HD2 with 1024ROM) and so wateva has worked for me, should surely work for u as well..The thread on the ROM i use says its TMous compatible cuz it was made with our TMobile hd2's in mind and so if u would like 2 use it ...i could help u set it up safely on ur device as well....Hweva the steps r pretty str8 4ward.

You don't have 2 be a pro 2 get android on ur device...all u have 2 be is an observant reader & instructions (by devs) follower...Perform a HARDSPL on ur device first n let me know ur progress...After that, its all a matter of following the instructions present in CMYLXGO's ROM thread
P.S. u can download Hardspl.exe from the link i posted above.
