I have a simple question...
I'm running WinMo 6.5 on my HTC Touch Pro and the default photo folder is My Device\My Documents\My Pictures. All of my images are on Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures.
How do I go about changing the default location to the current location of my pictures?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I would also like the answer to this question. In the today window, I'd like to see my photos under "Pictures" but I only see the default images from \My Documents\My Pictures. Can we change where the Today menu looks for pictures?
Hi,
Download and install advanced config 3.3, there is a setting to change default location for many things inc pics.
I tried that. I changed Locations -> "Default storage location for image files" and set it to "\Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures". However, the pictures option on the main menu is still reading images from "\My Documents\My Pictures"
Where are your photos being stored that you take on ur camera, u can change that location too.
@timmymarsh: I've ran advanced configuration 3.3 and changed the locations. But everytime I goto the album, it still points to My Documents folder on my device and not on my memory card. Is there a registry hack that can fix that?

What rom are you running, is it using manila 2.1, 2.5?
When I take a new camera photo, it goes to my storage card, as expected. It's not the same location as the Pictures shown in the today screen, though. In my case, I'm using NRG rom with Windows Default today screen.
Can you post a screen shot of your today screen or the link to the rom u have flashed? If it is what i think it is, the answer is straight forward.........
Here's a screenshot of my today screen, with the pictures option showing one of the default images on the device.

Ok from reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397334&page=3, it would appear you have to rename the folders on your storage card to storage card\pictures for cmyphoto plugin to read them.
Also try this out, havent tried this myself : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501584
I can confirm that if I put pictures in \Storage Card\Pictures, they are shown by the Pictures tab on the today screen.
Thanks for the pointers. I will take a look at the customizer apps as well.
Follow up. The customizers I've tried simply let you rearrange the order of the tabs, and/or provide a UI for editing the registry settings associated with these plugins. There doesn't appear to be any way to set the path where CMyPhotos looks. I hope they add it in the next version.

Ok, when i was researching, searching on here didnt give many options that confirmed were working. THere are many reg entries that one would assume would work, but on trying didnt.
I think the best thing is the one you have tried so far and renaming the folder on storage card and moving any pic to there.... You can also change ur default location for camera pic if need be to that location via adv config...
Cheers.

Notice:If you set BitPool too high,it may not work for Magician because there is no enough bandwidth with Bluetooth.
I found that Magician have a low-bandwidth Bluetooth...
I must set low BitPool profile and 22050 to 44100 Hz,or it will stuck for a while, and again...
And it did not support "Suspend Delay"(I don't know what it is,but this parameter included in BTA2DP.dll),so I removed this setting.
Thank you very much for this app, it makes it easier to configure the Magician!

Downloaded..
So, this means we must first uninstall the speakerphone patch from Searcher12 (if we're already installed it)?
BTW, I think the 2 s/w released before (splash screen changer & sms back img) would be nice if you merge them into this one...
You can use original speakerphone_patch still, they have the same parameters, just the file size, newer is 4KB only, original is 7KB.
If you want the newer one, delete \Windows\Speakerphone_patch.exe and run this app again,a newer Speakerphone_patch.exe will be extracted.
splash screen and sms background image will take bigger file size and they are dependent on images,so I removed them...
Ok, I got it.. Thanks...
if you could add an option to set a ringtone from the card that would be great but i'm not sure if the card is active when device is in stand by. Anyway I could add a ringtone to the ringtones list in settings/sound and notification but only from \windows directory. For some reason it didn't work from card.
to set a ringtone I did the folowing:
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/ringtones here I added the new file name to the list as Ring-MyRing .wma
This makes it appear in the ringtones list in settings\sounds and notifications
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/RingTone0
changed SavedSound and Sound entries with the file's path \Windows\Ring-MyRing .wma
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/RingTone2
changed Sound entry with the file's name Ring-MyRing .wma
I think RingTone2 contains the name of the file that is called from the list and RingTone0 contains the full path of that file
modifying HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring/Directory to Storage Card didn't have any effect for me. When trying to select the file from the list in setting it says that the file is corrupted.
So it only works from main memory for now. Any solutions ?
I asked Cotulla for Power Management of SDCard today, unfortunately,SDCard will be removed when device run into Suspend mode,so system will resume to default RingTone.....
The working RingCategory is RingTone0,you can create a folder name "My Documents" in Storage Card, system will detect sound files there, but it should not work after Suspend as my following reason...

It works, even after long suspend.. Without using 3rd party s/w or drivers or registry tweaks or anything else..
I don't know why, don't ask me...
As you said, for adding custom ringtones just create "my documents" folder on storage card, and you can put all ringtones (mp3, wav, wma) there..
Except for phone calls, inside "my document" folder, create a new folder named "My Ringtones" and you can put ringtones for phone calls in there..
Note that for alarms tone, you must put it inside "windows" folder (\my device\windows), and it must be .WAV files only!
Not just ringtone, but this apps also works well after suspend, I installed almost all of my apps in storage card (you know why..)
Wooh,so strange...I've tried them before but it often resume to default ringtone...
Alarms support wav files only...
Yes it's strange...
Not just mine, but one of my friends also have a magician running Cotulla's WWE-03, and we're both doesn't have that problems...
I'm running WWE_O3 also...
Keep File Explorer opening, push power button to make your device run into Suspend for 5 seconds, push it on,what will you see?"Storage Card" in original position or dropped to the bottom?
card is disabled for me in suspend mode
Hi Xiaojin,
There is some issue to download wwe version, can you please check/ reupload please?

Xiaojin, after i download and try to install, it says "Installation was unsuccessful" on Magician! So I tried to open on system using zip and it could not (I could open chs one not wwe one!)!
Try this EXE version.
Copy it to "\Windows" and run,it will create a shortcut to ControlPanel.

Hi guys, I got a big problem with HTC Album.
When I tray to display Facebook photos, I can only see the names of the folders and the number of photos but I can't display them (first it's loading but after appear a cross).
I tried to pass by contacts list and it to the same thing. Even with another Facebook account.
I also tried to delete the folder "FBContacts", in order to reset something but it doesn't do anything.
But, it works with the Facebook app' (but less simple than HTC Album)
Note : Association between contact and Facebook account, works, I can see the current profile picture (but it is the only one i can).

Hi,
I guess most of the users face this issue, anyone found a solution yet?
Hi guys, I didn't realize that everybody was suffering from this. So, for the benefit of all, I just posted a thread with the fix.
Enjoy
try using dafault values on this tweak
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/FATFS/CacheSize To: 65536
this tip enables a 32mb filesystem cache. it is unsuitable for 1.66 roms as will necessitate a hard reset.
This "tweak" is ultimately incompatible with my HD2/Diamond/Elf!
- On my HD2 (t-mobile stock 2.10) it causes the Album to lose the ability to view facebook pics, as in THE PICTURE ABOVE.
- On my Diamond, it causes wildly erratic behaviour, a corruption of ROM data (icons disappearing, programs stop launching with a "not a vaild win32 app", root files showing wrong sizes i.e. pim.vol once showed a 582 MB file size, etc...), and eventually an inevitable automatic hardreset.
- On my Elf, it causes the erratic behaviour as well as a corruption of my SDCard data and I ALWAYS end up having to format and start anew!!!!!!
Be advised, the "default value" for this reg value is a clean, big and round ZERO. As such, from my observation, this is UNSUITABLE for HD2 Leo stock T-Mobile ROM 2.10 either!
P.S. I'm already running an experiment on my HD2 with this tweak on. Already I'm experiencing erratic behaviours - icons disappearing from Sense, level1 highlights not showing, etc...

Inspired by this post on the blog I decided to ease up the exclusion of directories from the gallery/media database. Gallery Excluder does the job for me.
Here's why:
Many apps create folders on the sd-card and drop their stuff there. Often, they place images as well. Now that Android checks the sd-card for new media from time to time, these folders will be added to the media database and displayed in the stock Gallery app.
Here's how:
Gallery Excluder lists all direct subfolders of '/sdcard' respectively '/mnt/sdcard' and displays them in a list. If an item/folder gets checked there is a '.nomedia' placed in that folder. If the folder gets unchecked the '.nomedia' is removed.
Since it can take a while to have the gallery update you can force a manual update via options menu.
So please let me know if such a tool can be helpful for anyone except myself.
Now with subdirectories. Downside: there is no feedback when you selected a subfolder for its parent. E.g. when you excluded /mnt/sdcard/folder/subfolder/ you can't recognize it when viewing folder /mnt/sdcard/ (folder won't be selected).
If you feel like supporting my work click some ads. This is an experiment for me to figure if ads work. Thank you.
Market release
- long press an item to dive into the subfolder
- back takes you up one level
- select all/none
- hint for 1st time users
- external sd card support
TODO for next version(s):
- external sd card support
- white list mode

This sounds very useful! Ill give it a try

works great. got rid of a bunch of cached Beautiful Widget Themes thumbnails and other stuff cluttering the gallery
From something awesome
works a treat, nice and simple saves me messing about .nomedia files.
Thumbs up from me
Great idea. I just DL'ed QuickPic to fix this exact problem. I'll give it a shot!
Also, if you don't mind me suggesting, it would be nice to have an option where you select which folders to add instead of which folders to remove from the gallery. Then if any new apps add new folders with random images they would automatically have .nomedia added
From something awesome
check out the app "quickpic" -- kinda does what you're talking about here.
Just a heads up...
It wouldn't exclude the folder "com.espn.score_center" no matter how many times I tried. I had to manually add the .nomedia file myself to get it to work...
Glad you guys like it.
@killersnowman: I could introduce a black-list/white-list mode that lets you choose which way around you want to look at it.
Thanks mate! Yes this is useful, .nomedia files made easy and simple
more ss plzzzz
love this, now all my custom icons won't show up in gallery
thanks
Knox!!!, simply amazing! When will you roll this out to the android market? It will be a sensation. Cleaned up all the duplicated gallery pics, etc.
@V07T: does "ss" mean screenshots?
@Rico ANDROID: hm, good question. I could publish it on the market right now. Don't know if there is a need for it. I don't wanna spoil the market with another crappy app that noone needs...
I bet you just about every newbie to android as well as others are having the same clutter in Gallery and would love the results of duplicated clutter removed from the Gallery Display. I have been chasing down cached and replicated pics and icons . This app made it so easy.
You should upload it unless you are working on a paid version. I dont know how that works but wish I had your skills.

Chencking in to say no errors here. I have powered down and booted up, no glitches at all
Sweet, sounds good.
Will give you guys time to check for errors until tomorrow. If there will be no glitches found I'll release it to the market.
Btw., I'm thinking about introducing tabs. One for a black-list, one for a white-list (see screenshots). What do you think?
Tabs look great . Love to hear others feedback too, but I am sold!
Nice App, I was using something else on the market for this, but glad this one is on XDA!
For me I only need gallery to scan just a few folders
1)\sdcard\MyDocs
2)\sdcard\DCIM
3)\sdcard\Zedge (or other wallpaper download app)
A white list to add just a few folders (with nested subfolders) will be great, provided that once you enter something into the white list it should exclude every other folder (ignoring the black list)
Hi all
I have an issue with google photos that is doing my head in. Basically when i take a batch of photos i then, when home switch on auto backup and they upload to google photos (great thats what i want !) i can then move them on google photos into albums and view these on all of my nexus devices through the gallery app.
Again all is great apart from one thing, when i go into the gallery app on say my nexus 5, all my photos are there in the albums etc, however i have one album thats called "auto backup" it has about 46 photos all of which appear in other albums but i cant no matter what i do get rid of this one album.
I have signed into google plus on pc and this album does not exist on there for me to delete. I have googled the problem and all the answers tell me to go into google settings and un sync google photos completely. I don't want this i just want this one album to vanish.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Edit:
Ok i saw that the auto-backup folder holds all the pictures that were backuped from any mobile device from the same account. You cannot delete that folder, as its not really a folder in the original sense. I think its just a "link" to a collection of all automatically backuped pictures. But since these pictures are all in different folders, if you would delete that "folder" the pics would also be deleted in your real folders/albums.
I hope this makes sense for you
So the folder you want to delete is no folder, only a shortcut to see all backuped pics that now are in various other albums.

Yeah, i nearly was afraid of this
Its so difficult for me to tell...i just have too many pics. But before i answered with my last post i double checked on my 2 Nexus devices (5 & 7) and i really looked that way. But with 3000 and more pics its not easy to tell if its exactly that pics.
But ill also recheck this because i also want to know how exactly this photobackup works...
What i also wonder about is why there are all the various backup-options there, i also asked it here a while ago but no answer yet. What i mean is this:

What is Picture Manager?
Some manufactures like HTC and Sony (probably some more) save pictures taken with an incremented number in the filename, instead with a timestamp like other manufactures do.
When you factory reset your device, buy a new device or clean flash a custom rom, the camera picture counter gets reset and starts with e.g. IMAG_00001 again.
This can be an issue once you backup your files to a harddrive on your PC, because you will have duplicate filenames, although the pictures are actually different.
Picture Manager solves this problem by renaming your taken pictures with a timestamp format that you can select or even define yourself.
You can either start a batch process before you backup your pictures to your HDD, or automatically let Picture Manager rename your files in the background.
Another nice feature Picture Manager offers is that you can let it organize your taken pictures into folders that are named by the year, month and even day.
That will help you to quickly find your pictures again and brings some organization into you pictures.
Requirements
You have to be on at least Android 5.0 Lollipop
How does it work
Picture Manager relies on the EXIF Metadata that is stored into each picture. The EXIF Metadata contains a lot of information, the one Picture Manager needs is the date the picture was taken.
With that information Picture Manager can reliably rename and organize your pictures.
Tasker Plugin
Picture Manager comes with a Tasker Action Plugin. That means that you can start a batch process on different events, like time, when usb gets connected etc.
Premium features
If you want to use the custom format, background service or the Tasker plugin you need to upgrade to the premium version.
To upgrade you can use an in app purchase. Or you paypal me and I mail you a premium code. That way google doesn't get 30% of the income.
Downloads
Picture Manager is available in the playstore:
FAQ
Q: What about videos?
A: Picture Manager can also handle mp4 recorded videos.
Q: What about other manufactures than HTC and Sony?
A: I just know about those two that use an incremented number in their filename. If you know more, let me know. If your files are already timestamped you can still use the organizer to move your files into timestamped folders.
Q: After using the organizer I have sometimes missing files in my gallery?
A: Use the media scanner built in Picture Manager to make those files visible.
Q: Will the background service drain a lot of battery?
A: Picture Manager makes use of Androids JobSheduler, like Google Photos and Amazon Photos instant upload and is very battery friendly. When checking GSAM stats, it is nearly at the very bottom of the list.
Version 1.1.0 available
