[ROM] ***MghtyMax 1.9.1*** "WHAT A FEELING!" - G1 Android Development

MghtyMax 1.9.1 "What a Feeling"
SIGNED VERSION NOW LIVE!!!!
THIS IS A CUPCAKE HERO ROM. AT PRESENT 1.9.1 IS STILL THE LATEST VERSION OF MGHTYMAX. IN MY OPINION, STILL THE FASTEST, MOST STABLE HERO ROM ON THE PLANET.
***NEWS***
I may be developing a "Legacy Edition" of MghtyMax, considering we are reaching the end of the road for the G1. It would essentially be 1.9.1 with minor tweeks, some graphical improvements, and some special goodies to celebrate life of a great phone. Kind of in the "feeling out interest" phase right now, so if this is something you would like to see, please respond. I'd also like to talk to some folks who are good with custom desktop wallpapers. Please contact me on Twitter if interested in working on this project.
Changelog:
1.9.1 - Added Flash support
1.9 Altered user.conf. Turned off Compache and went to straight linux-swap. Swappiness set at 60. This may be the FASTEST HERO ROM EVER.
Recommended linux-swap partition sizes:
G1: 128 MB Linux Swap
MT3G: 96 MB Linux Swap* (Not tested. If running laggy after rom settles try 128MB as well)
If you get the blurries on MT3G, use the blurries fix:
http://twistedumbrella.slackdev.com/Deport-1.0.zip
After the system settles, and everything is running nice and smoothly, shut down, reboot into recovery and flash this as a ROM. Don't wipe, don't remove partitions. Just flash the zip. Reboot, and no more blurries!
1.8:
*This IS Maxisma 1.8 with the following changes:
Brought back PEEP due to popular demand (as is in Maxisma's roms)
Include Backup for Root & Missed Calls apps, and a few added sounds.
Modded build.prop to allow use of T-Mo apps (My Account, My Faves)
1.7.1a:
Removed HeroLED. All LED's will work natively on MT3G, and on G1 all will work except *missed call notifications. Thanks to Maxisma's build.prop
*Included Anon's Missed Call. Allows for custom LED color and frequency for incoming/missed call notification, and missed call notification sounds. This app will be in your app draw, and it must be run and set up for missed call notification LEDs to work. MT3G users do not need to use this app.
Included Blackgin's "Backup for Root Users" (This version works with HERO rom's)
Added lots of sound files for Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarm.
This version has an edited build.prop so that the phone's model number displays as T-Mobile G1 for apps like T-Mobile's "My Account" Although this has not been tested on MT3G it should not cause any issues. Please report if there are and I will release a MT3G version of this rom.
Replaced boot sound and image files.
Removed HTC PEEP. (was causing problems for me, lots of FC)
Thanks go out to Maxisma of course for compiling the rom that I basically just tweeked a bit, and for allowing me to share it with all of you. Anon for his Missed Call app, Blackgin for "Backup for Root Users", HTCPedia and Rapidshare for hosting, everyone at XDA and the T-Mobile forums, JackCrackerMan for pointing me to the blurry fix, and of course all of you, the Android community at large.
***BEFORE INSTALLING PLEASE***
***THESE INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED TO THE LETTER OR MGHTYMAX WILL NOT WORK!!!***
-If using "Backup for Root" uninstall any heroled app you may be currently running before backing up.
-Before flashing this rom, WIPE PHONE/FACTORY DATA RESET, WIPE/REPARTITION EXT AND LINUX-SWAP in parted.(I recommend ext4 for best performance, 128MB Linux Swap for G1, 96 MB Linux Swap for MT3G)
-After repartition and upgrade of ext partition, exit parted and PULL BATTERY. Make sure device is not charging or hooked up to USB and put battery back in and boot to recovery.
-WIPE/FDR Phone AGAIN FOR SAFETY. Too many people having issues with remnants of old roms interfering with new ones. PLEASE follow this procedure exactly.
- Flash Rom.
-When the new rom boots and you get to the homescreen, allow some time for the apps2sd to catch up.
- IMPORTANT!!! Run Market. Accept the ToS. Exit Market.
- Run "Backup for root users" (also in app tray) if you ran it prior to flashing this rom, and restore your files.
- Wait. Wait. Wait. Sit and watch the apps pop up in the tray. Wait some more. Look, they're dancing! They keep moving! Wait. Wait. Wait. Grass growing? Wait. Wait Wait. Wait some more and when they finally stop moving around for good, close the app tray and reopen it. If it scrolls like butter, it's done. If it's laggy, wait, wait, wait. DO NOT RUN **ANYTHING** During this process!!! You may get FC's, load screens, and just may end up doing a wipe and reflash. Give it time. It will take a while, but you'll be glad when it's done.
- Run "Missed Calls" app in the app tray and set up your led notifications for missed/incoming calls.
Feedback/suggestions appreciated!
*As with any rom, you flash this at your own risk, neither I, Maxisma, these forums, your wireless carrier, or any being, living or dead in the known universe (except for you) will be held responsible should your damage or destroy your device in an attempt to flash/use this rom in any way.

"Just when I thought I was out... THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!!"
I just couldn't let 1.8 be it, with the problems I was seeing with lag. I am very proud of 1.9, and think it just may be the fastest Hero Rom setup yet. I hope you think so too. Thank you again for your support!
Please share your thoughts/comments on this topic here, or to my twitter at http://twitter.com/mghtyred
Thank you all again for enjoying this ROM!

Because of the memhack Maxisma is using in the rom, no it's not required since linux-swap isn't really used, but recommended for faster app loading in apps2sd.

Working Great for me so far!
No FC's at all on the Mytouch.
Only one FC i got so far was the one when you search for a Contact, but mighty is already aware of that.
Other than that no problems so far.

Using it on the G1 and it blazing fast and holy sh** the LEDS work amazing!
Way to go Maxisma and Mighty!

If I'm coming from Max 1.7.1 do I need to wipe before flashing on my mt3g?

i followed directions and it boots up to mighty max screen and keeps booting to that same page. what next?

Clarification needed:
Are you getting a boot loop? Hero->HTC->MghtyMax->Hero->HTC->MghtyMax- etc, etc?
Or are you stuck on the MghtyMax screen?

im sorry yes, its a boot loop

im wiping again and reflashing

Make all of this fit in 90 MB (death spl system) and I'll be impressed. I'll give it a try, though, maybe this one's worth my while, but the back of my mind is saying "Meh, another hero...)...

ok, let me tell you what steps i took before i flashed.
1.using Ra recovery. I wiped ext2 part
2. wiped/reset
3.repartioned fat/ext2/linux swap
4.upgraded to ext3
5.rebooted to g1 screen
6.pulled battery and removed sd card
7.copied rom to sd card
8.booted into recovery
9.wiped again
10.flashed rom
11.stuck in "might max" boot loop

Wow. That's your problem. Try it again using my EXACT process. I mean EXACT. If you do it EXACTLY as I posted it, you will have no problems. Start from the beginning and do it again.

As mentioned previously in the first post, in order for this rom to work on your phone, you need to follow the instructions I posted TO THE LETTER.
Yes you still need to partition your SD.
Read above to see what happens when you don't do exactly what is posted.

I have an extra 1GB class 2 or 4? SD card that I can use for this. And I want
to try it but I'm wondering.. is it good to be used as a daily driver? Is it as fast
or almost as fast as CM?

[ROM] 05/18/10 | Fresh Toast v2.1 | BFS + Overclock + EXT4 | Official RUU

Geek For Me is proud to release:
Fresh Toast v2.1 by toastcfh and flipz
Come and get it!
Preface: I just want to remind everyone that Fresh Rom and Fresh Toast are two separate roms.... sort of. Fresh Rom is considered totally stable (as stable as can be at least). Fresh Toast uses Fresh Rom as it's base but adds in a custom kernel by toast and all kinds of goodies. This could potentially make your phone AWESOME-O, but it's with the understanding that it is more of a development rom. However it is considered extremely stable. At this time you can flash between Fresh Rom 2.1 and Fresh Toast 2.1 without wiping. Just make sure you disable setcpu or oc widget if you go back to Fresh Rom.
A note on slowness: It is coming to our attention that there are several bugs in the latest Sprint 2.27.651.5 RUU which is the official Sprint release. It doesn't surprise me that there are bugs considering our original 1.5 had plenty. The main one that we have come across is a service called com.htc.bg that sucks up your processor. This causes that phone to become extremely laggy and overall run like crap. Go read my new FAQ: Why is my Android phone running so slow? to see what you can do about it, and to report the issue. Keep in mind that this would be a Sprint bug and not Fresh Rom / Fresh Toast.
Overclock Widget vs SetCPU: Up until now toast and I have been pushing SetCPU because it allows us to create a custom file that tells it what clock speeds the rom is capable of running at which makes things nice and easy. However a couple of bugs have come up lately. First off is that it is constantly using 10-15% of the processor when it shouldn't even be doing anything. That doesn't sound like a lot but that's pretty extreme. The second issue is that it doesn't seem to be honoring the settings you pick. I could tell it that I want the minimum to be 245mhz but I would catch it at 19mhz. Or vice-versa I tell it that I want the max to be 650mhz and I catch it at 767mhz. With that said, toast took the time to program settings in to the kernel that will now allow you to pick "automatic" off of the device selection rather than custom. This may resolve the issue, so just keep an eye out for it if you use SetCPU. In OC Widget just go in to settings and click "Detect frequencies" to have it read them. If you have no preference then I'm personally saying to use Overclock Widget. It isn't quite as user friendly as SetCPU, but it gets the job done right. Additionally as a 3rd reminder: make sure if you are running Fresh Toast that you DO use one of these applications, and if you are running Fresh Rom that DO NOT run one of these. Doing so can cause slowdowns.

And now it's time for serious business!
Features:
Built off of Fresh Rom 2.1.1 so all features of it are in this rom (brand new 2.27.651.5 RUU base).
Toastcfh's custom .29 kernel including:
Brain f**k scheduler (BFS)
Overclock scaling from 245mhz - 767mhz
Compcache
Ramzswap
Ext4
Apps2sd 2.7 beta 7 custom built for us (it won't move cache by default at my request) thanks to tkirton
Fully working camera
Fully working light sensor
Fully working bottom lights
Dancing android boot screen by wrx4memp
Removed Launcher2 due to stability issues and replaced it with LauncherPro Beta (a vanilla launcher alternative that works perfectly so far. Please report if you have any issues).
Updated estrongs file explorer to v1.3.12
Updated market to v1713
Updated facebook to v1.2
Quickboot works... for those who use it!
A special thanks goes out to all the donators who have been testing this release and helped us find a number of bugs. And of course for helping fund the server costs and coffee addictions.
What to expect / how to flash it / READ THIS :
Download and copy the zip to the root of your sdcard
Reboot to RA and do a data wipe / factory reset (Should not be required if currently running Fresh Rom 2.1.1 or Fresh Toast 2.1 Beta 1. However if you have any issues after flashing and you didn't wipe... then wipe!)
You may also need to wipe sd:ext if you are having troubles booting.
Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-toast-v21-heroc.zip
After it finishes flashing reboot. Expect the first boot up to take a bit.
If it freezes during first boot*then wipe everything including SD:Ext Partition. This will delete all apps off your sdcard. You will want to reflash the rom if you have to do this or else you will be missing some apps from the rom. Note that if you are using ext4 then you will need to either re-partition your card or use Godspeed RA to properly wipe ext4. AmonRA will wipe it without errors but it can't actually read ext4 to wipe it.
When the phone boots and comes to the user setup screen I would recommend syncing your google account right away. I noticed an old bug creep back in where it gets stuck during sync. This seems to be avoided by adding your google account during setup.

Just make sure you aren't selecting the Hero as your device because setcpu doesn't understand that. Either pick automatic or custom all the way at the bottom.
Thank You Flipzmode & Crew and cheers to all the excellant Devs of XDA
I have been spending every spare minute the past 5 months logged on to XDA and Geekfor.me. I am Slowly becoming a novice I like to think, and wanted to thank Flipz and his crew for making it such an enjoyable and very addictive experience thus far. I know you hear it alot, Flipz you are appreciated more than you may ever know amd you are " The Man of the CDMA Hero Forums". Cheers to all the excallant Devs of XDA.
Downloading now. I'm at work so it'll be a bit. I'll test flashing over 2.1b1 and report back.
Will this version leave the PRI alone? I'm currently running PRI 2.11 (so USB tether works) not 1.70_003 and would prefer to leave it that way. I know one your previous roms changed out the PRI.

It won't touch your PRI.
Is setcpu supposed to be included or do I have to D/L it?
Not going so good so far - wiped and flashed and it froze and rebooted trying to type in my login for gmail in the initial set up, so I wiped and flashed it again and it froze again trying to hit next on the initial set up. Redownloaded and going to wipe and flash again, see if it was just a bad download...

Ok, picked autodetect and it does allow 768MHz but LongBench was 15163ms. Hmmm

What's the benefit or necessity of doing the radio from the link?

[ROM][Updated 25/01/11] Higgsy Modded v1.08 RC2 - Easy Installer!

Well I'm kind of in the mood after getting some good feeback from my Defy ROM, so seen as though v1.08 has been released by Advent - I thought I would try and get a release based on this out - try and liven up the vega section on XDA!
As I've said before - I aint no Dev and don't profess to be. I know a fair bit about Android, but I don't compile, what I can do, is put things together that make it easy for others.
As you can see I've marked this as a release candidate, so I'm open to suggestions of what else could be included/improved on, although this is meant to be an unbloated blank canvas for people to build on.
ROM Includes:
Advent v1.08 base
Flash (You may need to reinstall by browsing to /system/etc/shuttle_priv and reinstalling the app in there)
Launcherpro
Gapps (No Gmail - I don't use the app - download from the market if you want it)
High Res Gallery
Moduleap screen calibration app
ES File manager
New for RC2:
Included small notification bar
Custom Boot screen
Modaco USB Switcher (Host/Slave)
Optional Clockworkmod Recovery
Added stock taskmanager back in (even though I think its fairly poor)
My favourite part of this is the installer - I don't think you can get much simpler than this. I'm sorry to Mac and Linux users, but this is a windows installer package, I've never owned a mac (and probably never will) and have limited linux experience.
Install process:
This assumes you have already have the Vega nvflash/adb drivers installed.
1) Download Higgsy_Modded_v1.08_Vega_RC2.exe here
2) Make a backup of your current ROM using clockworkmod recovery (If you use it).
3) I Also advise a backup of your apps/app data via Titanium Backup.
4) Boot into nvflash recovery using the following method:
Disconnect power cable if connected
Power the Vega off
Reconnect the power cable
Hold the back button for 2 seconds
Keeping the back button held down, press and hold the power button for 2 secs
You should hear a "bing bong" from the PC - if so release the buttons
If you don't get a bing bong, disconnect power for 10 secs then reconnect and try the process again.
5)Once you are in nvflash mode execute the Higgsy_Modded_Vega_v1.08_RC1.exe you downloaded, once complete hit enter when the DOS window prompts you.
6)Wait 10 secs and then power on the device as normal.
Installation for Clockworkmod Package:
1)Download the Clockworkmod_Install.exe from here
2)Make sure your Vega is connected to your PC and you have USB debugging enabled on the device
3)Double click the Clockworkmod_Install.exe program and let it do its bit
4)Once the DOS window disappears then it all done.
5)I recommend a standard shutdown/cold boot after install (prob don't need this, but I like to do it anyways.
I had previously posted earlier that clockworkmod was giving black screen, I can now confirm that installing via the above method, has stopped this for me- I have done 3 reflashes/install clockwork/boot into clockwork/flash a zip/reboot/cold boot and it hasn't black screened me, I was probably trying to be a bit clever trying to integrate things I didn't need to, and to be fair its better as an optional extra anyway.
Further note from me on clockwork mod after someone reported BSOD:
Clockworkmod is hit and miss, I spent best part of a day testing/reflashing and in the end I got it to work without any issues, i.e. the usual BSOD after first cold boot after using clockworkmod. What I found prevented it earlier was after using clockwork mod to backup/restore/flash zip etc, was to reboot back into clockworkmod straight away and then just hit reboot in clockworkmod as soon as it loaded up, then if you cold boot after this it loaded up ok. I think the key thing if you are going to use clockwork, is take a recovery straight after setting everything up, then its not so much of a biggy if it does black screen.
Enjoy the ROM
Thanks go to the following:
[email protected] for all my hosting
[email protected] for the Recovery.img/app for the vega. and USB switcher (And indeed kicking of the whole vega scene) At the end of the day Modaco got me into android and for that I'm grateful.
[email protected] for High Res Gallery3D
Fede Carnales for Launcherpro, that is included in the rom.
Estrongs team for a great file explorer.
Advent for making the technology available at an affordable price/original firmware.
Anyone else who thinks they should be thanked.
Please don't post this on other forums without asking me first

in my opinion very nice, I will be completely honest - I have compared this and it is mostly advent adding the newer tegra drivers in, there are other differences and additions too though.
would like some feedback from others on the installer and if its working sweet for them (it is for me)

I couldn't decide which way to go with that, I always used the small notification before, some like it some don't. I'll make an update.zip add on. easily done.
Edit: I want to compile it myself too (framework-res) and not use the other one thats available, gives me more experience if I do it myself.

Thanks Higgsy, will give this a go tomorrow. If you are going to modify this yourself, would it be possible to have a semi-transparent small notification bar as an optional update.zip? Or if you know of a good n00b guide to do so, it would be appreciated.
Cheers
Hi Higgsy,
Thanks for making this easy for us that are not so well informed and those that can't be bothered

Nope don't use it never have, don't like it. If I had the choice I would include the motorola blur email app - coz I like that the best.
Great work Higgsy.
I would like to see button savior installed as default, its a must for the vega. Also would like the small taskbar. Also does this contain flash?
Thanks mate
Small notification bar patch added to the OP, changes something else too, spot the difference.

Again button saviour is a must, I agree, my aim here was to provide a blank canvas with only the basics. To be honest there aint a great deal of space in /system. If people agree then I'll include it in the next release.
Flash included and works, you may need to reinstall it by going into /system/etc/shuttle_priv/selecting the app to install. I'll update the OP coz I forgot about that.
I notice in the screenshot that the kernel version is v1.06 is that a mistake. i have flashed the official firmware and it says v1.08.

[ROM][CDMA][7/23/11]SleekSense-1.0 (Uv,Apps2sd+, Other tweaks)

SleekSense-1.0 Officially Stable
Caution this rom uses a new format unlike any other rom. Which means it requires a ext partition. If you do not have one it will not boot and/or install. To see how to do one read the install section.
SleekSense has took a new approach. Instead of being themed like before. It is now has very little themeing. This is was done to keep the sense look more. Though it does have some themeing (Check the screenshots). SleekSense is built from the uscc froyo ruu with features you will love. On stock sense you have something around 100mb free. With this rom you will have 240mb free on boot. This doesn't seem like a lot but it also supports darktremors apps2sd+. Which means take angry birds for exmample is like 10mb. Around 8mb of it will be installed to the ext partition with 2mb on the internal memory. If so some how manage to run out of memory dalvik cache can be moved to the sd card. Though by default this wasn't done. The main reason is it slows the rom down to a crawl if on the stock card. If on a higher class card it can be enabled.
This also packs things not in any other rom. For a short list of what this has over any other sense rom here we go. Supports undervolting, powersave govenor, conservative govenor, cfq scheduler, ram optimization tweaks, perflock disabler, zipalign on boot, screen state scaling, reboot options, bloatware removed and numerous other things. Check below screenshot for a full feature list.
Any way on to the screenshots:

Things Removed:
Uscc boot animation and boot sound.
Stock bookmarks & homepage (Homepage is defaulted to google)
Toneroom
My Contacts Backup
CityId
Some different languages out of the frameworks (English is fully supported)
Unused images and codes out of the frameworks
Basically debloated but all the features of sense is still there (From the widgets to the live wallpapers)
What is Done/Added:
Dodexed entire rom to allow themeing
Optipnd'd almost the whole rom
Framework optimizations
Prerooted
Init.d support
Busybox
Nano
Bash
Apps people may not use or updates moved to data (AdobFlashplayer, AdobeReader, Facebook, OiFileManager, Gmail, Maps, Myspace, QuickOffice, Street, YourNavigator and Youtube)
Darktremors apps2sd+ with dalvik to sd-ext on boot disabled
Able to be undervolted now (Uses almost the exact voltages of my vork kernel)
More govenors now (PowerSave & Interactive)
Default scheduler changed to Cfq
Perflock on boot disabled
ZipAlign on boot (First boot will be sort of slow as it checks and zipaligns apk's. From then on it remembers what ones were done and only zip aligns ones that have been installed)
Screenstate scaling of cpu to save battery life
Backlight Settings tweaked along with backlight on buttons tweaked (Little bit dimmer to & backlights on buttons do not stay on unless on the lowest screen setting saving battery life)
Build prop tweaks to conserve battery and increase speed
Ram optimizations to futher more conserve battery and increase speed (Do not run a task killer it will only mess it up. Multitasking should greatly be increased.)
Custom boot animation (Though it likes to run on the bit fast side and booting not always fast)
0-100 percent battery mod
G4 sense themed icons for the status bar
Transparency enabled overall (For ones unaware froyo/sense does not have transparency enabled on certain system files. So this was enabled)
Transparent pull down with a little tweaking
Location Icon on taskbar is no longer there for no reason.
Popups themed to match sense overall colors and a few icons.
5 row app drawer with transparent background
Apps that require updates moved to data
All system apps moved to ext partition (This allows of live wallpapers and wallpapers to be kept with out hurting for space)
Some other things were also moved to ext. For a explanation on why this was done. Check the why dalvik was left internal with no data2sd.
Market cache for downloads mounted to ram upon downloading and installing. Once installed is is automatically deleted. Which means the only sense rom with 100% working cmtd.
Cmtd setup and fully working.
Before I forget reboot options (Reboot, Reboot to recovery & a few more)
Probably forgetting some stuff also. Once I remember I will update.
Why the rom was done like it was with no data2sd or dalvik moved:
Ok the rom was done like it was for a few reasons. One was for increased memory. Two was for speed. Three was for no dead sd cards. Followed by 4 was to help battery life. With that said we go to data2sd. Data2sd works by moving the data partition to a a sd-ext partition. There is a few different versions. Real data2sd kills cards quick due to reads and writes. Kali's data2sd is a knock off of darktremors apps2sd+. It moves the data/app and data/app-private to sdext. Same thing as darktremors apps2sd+. Darktremor's apps2sd packs more features from zip align, memory tweaking and other things. This should not cause lag like claimed. What will is enabling dalvik-cache to ext. Kali's doesn't support this. So kali's data2sd or darktremors apps2sd+ with out dalvik moved will not be that hard on a card at all.
Now with dalvik moved in darktremor's it causes lag and major read and writes to the sd card. Due to it moves system dalvik. Anytime you open a app or do something it reads and writes to the sd card. This causes battery drain and bottlenecks also. So what I did was a better alternative, since dalvik moved frees up space but causes lag. I left dalvik internal, moving system apps and a few other things to ext partitions. Then creating blind mounts. This allowed me not to remove anything like before or enable dalvik. Yet give the same free space 240mb to be exact. So you get the speed and space. Best of both worlds right?
The other thing is with anything sd-ext. Sd cards have a number of limited reads and writes. Some fail sooner and later. It just depends on the card. With that said the process done is very easy on the sd card.
Files to download:
SleekSense-1.0 Stable Click Here
Install instructions:
1. You need to have cwm 3 or above to install this. For working recoverys that will work with this rom check here Click Here Once you have that proceed.
2. Follow this step if you don't have a ext partition setup (If previously using apps2sd or data2sd you should have one. So please skip to step 3.)
First you need to back up your card sd card. This means mount your sd card on your computer, creating a folder. Then copying the contents of the sd card to the folder. Once this is done reboot phone into recovery. Once you do that go to advanced>partition sd-card. Pick you sizes for your partitions. I use 1024m/0m. Once that is done reboot your phone.
3. So once booted back into your rom. Copy the files you backup back over. The open the SleekSense-1.0.zip. Extract the contents to the root of the card. This means the sleeksense folder should be in the main directory. Along with the mtdpart text file in the root. If you had one before please replace it. Once done reboot to recovery again.
4. Go to Install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card>SleekSense>SleekSense-recovery. Once installed go to Advanced>Reboot Recovery. Once recovery reboots it would be a good idea to do wipe data/factory reset. After the wipe is complete proceed below.
5. Go to Install zip from sd card>choose zip from sd card>SleekSense>SleekSense-SleekSense-Rc1. Once it installs and prompts you to reboot. Do reboot system now with in recovery. Now it will take a bit to boot the first time. The htc screen will stay on for about a min to two. Then you will see a android boot animation. It will also stay on this for awhile. Don't worry if it isn't booting right away. Now if 10mins have passed and you still are in the ui. Then redo the above steps for flashing the rom. No need to reformat the card. Just make sure you do a full wipe.
6. If it booted in the ui. Follow the setup wizard and you are good to go.
For any problems you encounter, have a question or anything else. Please post them at the following link: Click Here or post in the thread here. If I don't get to your post in a day you can pm me on here and ask me to check.

Do you have a cdma desire?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
You are right...I missed it...No, is there any other than CDMA?
I have visited your site, good work, i rarely see CDMA posts, more of them are GSM and i missed it. Thanks anyway.
Yea this is only for the cdma desire. Was there something you wanted possibly I could help you out with?
No, i just wanted a new rom and this one looked good.
Will this work without ext3? I have my card partitioned already for Dtapps2sd since that's what I know how to use lol. Second question is do we have a custom kernel yet?
Sent from my desire with SWYPE sorry bout the spelling
Hello, I was wondering what the easiest way to put a ext3 partition on my sd card is? Is that all I need to do before installing this ROM and it will auto recognize the ext3 partition or am I thinking wrong here?
Wait till later today as I am doing some changes on my forum so links will probably be down. I also fixed everything but a few of the icons that aren't themed.
I removed the modules as they don't work. The ones in the other rom doesn't either just a heads up on that. I am uploading the rc2 as I type but the links won't be up till later today.
As for the ext partition backup the contents of your card and do it from recovery following the instructions in my guide at the link. I don't recommend installing if you have a ext partition that you don't want to wipe. As if you don't wipe it. It will cause force closes.
You can make a backup of your partition say if you are using data2sd with cm7. Then wipe it as the partition will work with the rom. I plan to upload a non apps2sd and play with the data2sd scripts and upload one of those also. As for the custom kernel htc hasn't released the source though one may be built from mixing the cdma desire eclair with the cdma froyo kernel. Though I don't think it is worth the time to play with it. Not for me any way.
As running two sites doing a cm6,cm7 and froyo rom for the desire. Then roms for the mesmerize I don't honestly have enough free time.

Well as you know we have very little and your contribution is greatly appreciated. If I can get the mms and provider right (can't remember how on a sence rom) this is gonna be my new rom.but I can do a full wipe and I think I have a ext3 for darktremor already so it should work the same. About to give it a shot lol.
Sent from my desire with SWYPE sorry bout the spelling
Ok I've gotten a few reports on the version of darktremors apps2sd making a partition on the card with out wiping the card if one isn't found. I can't verify this at the moment due to have limited access to the girls desire since I switched to the mesmerize.
Also this will work with the green or orange cwm. Unlike the other sense rom for cdma here that was done in htc kitchen on a older version where it just boot loops on green but works on orange. The ext3 partition is fine in both for myself also.
I also added the new release to the first post if on the first rc-1 you can download the zip I am going to post of just the rom. Do a wipe and flash it. No need to redo the cmtd stuff.
Edit: Added link to just zip in guide and added link in guide for different colored markets.
Why will nothing else boot up after i flashed this rom? not even backups.. The only thing that will get past boot animation is this rom and a backup of this rom.. everything else gets stuck on boot loop.. did a full wipe but nothing works.. gonna try CM7 see if that works.. if not im stumped
Nevermind.. figured it out.. duhhh lol
It was because cmtd wasn't it? Glad you got it.

Yea it was cuz of 1st zip that you flash.. wasnt aware you would have to use the other zip to undo it.. lol I only flashed back to my backup cuz i was having market problems cuz of my connection due to weather cuz alot of other peeps are have problems with theirs too.. only thing i can think of.. wish these roms would come with a file manager like Cyanogen does so you can install apk.s from sdcard incase of market or connection problems
Is there a way to change the battery and data connection icons? Ive tried using UOT Kitchen but it wont get past boot.

If the rom is deodexed you can open the zip look in framework-res and put the icons in you want and also in drawable-mdpi (might be named a different drawable, I can't remember for the desire but when you look threw the folder it still be obvious if it's right or not) then flash it. Our you can make a metamorph file or make your own flashable zip with the files. Whatever is easiest for you. But it must be deodexed and not odex. Not sure what this rom is. Lol.
Btw I seen your question in the last post we spoke in but for some reason it wouldn't let me respond and I just forgot after that lol. Sorry

Thread has shed some light on new issues and some other fantastic developers have chimed in with a lot more insight into this issue than I had originally anticipated when I started this thread. Please read the below post in FULL, and skip to page 31 for where this discussion picks up. ~> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128135&page=31

First I would like the thank the OP for bringing some attention to the issue. This thread seems to have started going in the wrong direction so I will make an attempt to clear some things up and shed some light on the situation with my findings. In my tests so far I cannot really find a combination of radios and pri to solve any of the problems mentioned in this thread. All my findings are using and testing aosp roms. Cm7 really but most aosp roms are based off of cm so this post should be helpful if you use an aosp rom and are having a unreleased pokelock caused by the dialer and/or high android system in the battery usage after phone calls. If you use a sense rom I do not recommend any of these fixes for you. If you use these on a sense rom you will probably mess something up and/or experience boot loops and lots of other problems. That being said lets get started:
Problem 1: The pokelock not being released after a phone call is made or received. This problem comes from the phone app and not the radios as far as I can tell from my tests.
Solution: http://www.mediafire.com/?xzw0zhonmnjw1xs
This file is a flashable zip of a new phone app that releases the wakelock after making a phone call the way its supposed to. I take no credit for this new phone app. It was made by Scott Brady (The same dev that fixed the mms problems on the evo in the cm nightlies about a month ago). I just got this from him. We haven't thoroughly tested it yet so please FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. Make a nandroid. I will say this though. In my current tests I have made about 40 calls with no pokelock and it seems to work wonderfully. The only reason I'm posting it early is because if you're like me and you know something is wrong then you want an immediate fix. Also using the killall command in terminal emulator or adb after every call can get tiresome... I have also tested with multiple radios In case anyone was wondering.
Problem 2: Android system spikes in the battery use in settings after a phone call is made or received.
Solution: I'm close but not finished yet...
Please read what I am about to say all the way through. What I have found is that the current proximity drivers for the evo are causing the android system in the battery use to go bonkers. I'm not really sure how much it affects your battery because it seems that it causes all your apps to not even show up in your battery stats. Proof? I have supplied two files in a zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mxks9k60shlckk5
THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. One file is "sensors.supersonic.so" where I edited it so that android cannot find the drivers for your proximity sensor so it never comes on. The second file is "sensors.supersonic.so.bak" which is a backup of the original .so file that you can use if you want to turn your proximity back on. When I edited my sensors.supersonic.so file so the proximity wouldn't come on android system no longer spiked in my battery stats after a phone call!!! Also I tried to add a command to the build.prop first to disable the proximity sensor which would have been better practice but the command didn't work. Not sure if that's because cm overrides it or what. I can pretty much guarantee that this is an aosp problem and not a sense problem so if you use a sense rom you don't even need to worry about this. I doubt HTC has faulty proximity drivers on a stock rom... I could be wrong but I doubt it, they have screwed up in the past...
So what now? Well if you're on an aosp rom and the current proximity drivers work for you then you know what they say, "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it." For the rest of us I am in the process of trying to find some proximity drivers that don't make battery stats go haywire. Lets try to keep the thread relevant to findings so that we as a community can come closer to a fix instead of all the repetitive questions and things that don't help us get closer to a true fix... Don't forget the thanks button if you found this useful =P
Thanks for your time.
Edit: I would also like to add that I am on the most current radios, nv, and pri with no wakelock or spike in my android stats. And If you flashed the combo from the Calkulin thread you are probably missing the newest NV file because its not in there.

I have left the previous OP in-tact so if you would like to follow from the beginning you may. At this time, I can no longer recommend the below steps!!!, but I can still let you know that the GPS driver files below are pretty damned awesome.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I believe I have FINALLY figured out how to solve the infamous "Wake-Lock" or "Keep Awake" of Android OS that seems to drain the battery on end. It took several hours of reading forum posts, several DAYS of testing on 5 different EVO's (I work at Sprint) and have tested the fix across a multitude of ROM's, including Sense.
I will post a short history of the issue as I know it here for those of you hitting this thread for the first time, skip below for the solution I have found.
Requirements:
-Radio S-OFF
-AmonRA Custom Recovery
-Android System always at or near the top in your battery usage
History
To the best of my knowledge the issue first started to appear in AOSP ROMS when the Cyanogen team stopped using HTC Blobs to control the driver for the GPS, As a great many custom roms utilize cyanogen for many of their own enhancements and fixes the problem began to propagate out to the community at an alarming rate. Restoring your system back was a hit or miss on if it actually solved the issue or not, and more RADIO files were getting leaked/posted online and many people were flashing a multitude of firmwares to their handset making the issue confusing and seemingly with no correlation on handsets with the people having issues.
I came across ViRuS Kingdom ROM and read about 1000 pages of posts and the conclusion from their team was that the PRI needed to be downgraded to 1.77 and behold, it worked......(mostly)......
I wondered how the PRI had anything to do with the fix, and mixed that with many, many other forums I have read on the issue realized myself that there was a correlative cause and that we all did indeed have something in common. Everyone was on a different radio/pri/nv/wimax combination. I decided to run some tests myself as I have access to ****loads of handsets being a Sprint employee and here is what I have found.
I have found exactly 1 combination that has fixed the issue on every single handset I have tried it on, hands down across the board on a great cross-section of ROMS.
-Cyanogen
-Kingdom
-MIUI
-SavagedZen
-Synergy
-Mik's
-Sense 3.7 build
-Sense 4.22 build
-FreshEVO 3.5
-FreshEVO 4.1
______________________________________________________________
THE FIX!
The fix is a combination of...
Radio: 2.15.00.05.02
PRI: 1.77_003
NV: 1.90_003
WiMAX: 27243
GPS: HTC VISION GPS ".so" file
-Download the below PC36IMG.zip It is a custom Combo Radio installation I created that will set your Radio/Pri/NV/WiMAX to the above settings
-Move the PC36IMG.zip file to the root of your SD-Card and reboot the phone into bootloader. It will load the file and prompt you for an update, you will see on the left 3 items that will be upgraded on your handset. Hit volume up to accept
-Reboot the phone after the Radio update, go ahead and remove the PC36IMG.zip file from the sd-card and put it in a safe place
-Download "GPS_FIX_Flashable_Vision.zip" and put on your SD-Card
-Reboot into Recovery (I highly recommend AmonRA 2.3)
-Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache. Now wipe them again just to be safe
-Choose "Install zip file from SDCard"
-Navigate to GPS_FIX_Flashable_Vision.zip and choose install
-Once installed go down to "Other" and "Fix UID mismatches"
-Reboot the phone
______________________________________________________________
Now heres the weird and tricky part so listen closely. At this time you will still see the Android System in your battery stats. This is normal. To see the fix, you need to charge your phone fully to 100%.... and honestly give it an extra 10-15m on the charger after it says its full. Now..... REBOOT the phone when you pull it off the charger. Use the phone a little bit, make a phone call... it may still pop up around 5%.... again this is normal..... after 2-3 hours however it will be gone, completely and utterly gone... it will never show up again.
I have tested this on 5 handsets hardware revision 0002 0003 & 0004, and about 6-7 ROMS both AOSP & Sense and have yet to see Android OS re-appear. This is not to say that it will work for everyone, but I think that after my testing, there's an excellent chance that this will work for you.
Please leave feedback if this works or does not work for you please so that everyone can benefit from your experience, either good or bad. Please, please please, follow the final instructions carefully, it does literally take a few hours to test and get the old stat to wipe from the battery history, that is why I started this, literally 2 weeks ago, and am just posting now. I tried TONS of combination's and this is the one that struck gold, then I needed to test this combination on all of the phones I had sitting in the back for this. If mirrors are needed please let me know, and I will upload.
Good Luck!

EDIT: It has come to my attention from a few members in PM, that the issue doesn't always "take" right away. People have reported that it can take 2 or 3 attempts, and 9 different people have reported that they have run the 1.77_003 NV after flashing the radio, and then running the GPS to resolve the issue.
---------------If the above fails for you after a 2nd attempt. Please follow these Modified Instructions
--MODIFIED STEP-- Download "EVO_NV_1.77_003" ~> http://www.mediafire.com/file/i1p436188iw0iqb/EVO_NV_1.77_003.zip (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485) & put the file on your SD-Card
-Reboot into Recovery (I highly recommend AmonRA 2.3)
-Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache. Now wipe them again just to be safe
-Choose "Install zip file from SDCard"
--MODIFIED STEP-- Navigate to EVO_NV_1.77_003.zip and choose install, once installed you will see a note at the bottom to reboot the phone. Choose the "Reboot Phone" option in AmonRA and let the phone reboot
-You will see the screen blink, go into recovery and hang, this is completely normal, just wait about 30 seconds and the phone will Automatically put you back into your recovery
-Choose option Flash zip file from SD-Card
-Navigate to GPS_FIX_Flashable_Vision.zip and choose install
-Once installed go down to "Other" and "Fix UID mismatches"
-Reboot the phone
Pickup the rest of the steps from above. PLEASE REPORT back your experience!

I have had issues like this as well, but only when I do the radio's through the recovery partition. That is why I enclosed it as a PC36IMG.zip file so that it could be done by the "official" HTC update method. I have had no issues doing it this way. Good luck, looking forward to hearing that your issue is resolved.

You shouldn't need to. If you are clearing your battery stats, do that for the reasons its intended, and make sure you follow the top off/drain instructions when doing so or it could lead to false readings.

No, you are only updating your radio and thus will not lose your data or have to reflash your ROM. Please remember to follow the short instructions at the end for charging/reboot/2 hours before reporting back here please.
flash the virus gps fix even if your not on the kingdom rom ?
I am using RA.
might give this a shot later, don't have high android OS, but might be interesting none the less

I personally use CyanogenMOD Nightly 100 at the moment and it works like gangbusters on this ROM.

I used the GPS drivers provided by Vaelpak...and it worked! I'm using Salvage-Mod v1.2.1 GB 2.3.3 and my GPS pickup is now instant!
And to the OP, I haven't had this issue...but great work!!!
What is acceptable for Android System usage? I'm at 23% right now and it's third on my list behind Cell Standby and Phone Idle. Is 23% high? I know I've seen it higher before. I am interested to hear more feedback on this fix.
I assume when flashing a new nightly, I would need to reflash the GPS driver again?
That's not even the problem for me, I'm on hardware 4 and with any of the 2.3.3 Roms the highest thing draining my battery is the display any ideas on how to reduce that. It's between 50%-right now at 86%. I have turned off auto display and notifications. Thanks in advance for any help.

Alien Stock provides a base TouchWiz ROM for your Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Samsung's original ROM stays fully intact with a few extras thrown in. I painstakingly mirrored all of the settings and files in a stock install. I know some users prefer stock ROMs and this gives them that flexibility. ROM developers, feel free to use this as a base.
Code:
- Based on AT&T UCLE2 4.0.4
- Zipaligned
- Deodexed
- Rooted
- Busybox and friends
- No CIQ
Alien Stock (full wipe - follow instructions below)
MD5 660610861b37d91f7206fc308b64bd1e
0) Take a Nandroid backup of your current ROM first!
1) Update to ICS radio if you haven't yet (Use my CWM zip here)
2) Wipe data/factory reset
3) Wipe cache
4) Install from SD card
5) Format /cache under "mounts and storage"
6) Reboot. First boot will take a while, be patient (5+ minutes).
7) AT&T Ready2Go seems broken in this build.

Original ICS Leak

UCLE2 ICS Leak
It's not working when I install! I'm receiving force closes, sitting at bootloops, etc.
Make sure you're installing the ROM correctly. Remember that kernels, MODs, radios, and carriers can mess with your phone's performance and workability.
I'm not on AT&T and this ROM is completely broken!
This ROM is not necessarily designed for international compatibility. Please wait for future updates or attempt an install with a proper international kernel.
Why is my device running/booting slowly?
Your first boot will take an unimaginably long time. After that, your device will continue to run slowly until the application cache is built up. Don't worry, the speed will increase as you use the ROM!
Why is my battery life bad?
Your battery life is often killed when flashing ROMs in CWM. For the best battery life, you must drain your device’s battery until it turns off. Plug the device into the AC adapter and let it charge until the image says 100% charged. Then turn it on and use the volume buttons to boot into CWM. Click Wipe Battery Stats under the advanced menu. Then you should charge to 100% and install the ROM. Battery life should be comparable to (if not better than) every other ROM.
What is this?
With the various trouble people seemed to be having with CWM-flashable ICS zips, I took a few minutes to put this together. This is ICS in CWM form, with a few extras. It has none of the problems with other CWM zips (lag, etc). I've kept it stock for those that prefer stock ROMs. This will be the base ROM for Alien ICS. I'll also do my best to keep this updated for future ICS leaks/releases.
Coming soon (its stock, what do you expect?)
Changelog:
Alien Stock UCLE2
Updated to UCLE2 leak.
Alien Stock UCLD2 re-release
Fixed busybox. No one told me it was broken.
Properly format /system, /data and /cache using Samsung provided tools.
Alien Stock UCLD2
Updated to the UCLD2 leak.
Few minor bugs fixed. I don't think they affected ROM usage, but never hurts to be thorough.
Alien Stock UCALC4
Initial ICS leak.
Known issues:
The home button has a slight delay. This is common in ICS (check SGS2 for example).
[*]Messages crashes if you delete a thread from the list view. This is a problem with the leak. Maybe I'll fix it if I get time.
Anything else that has been common with ICS from Odin (I really haven't noticed hardly anything to be honest).
If installed properly, this will not have the lag, data connection issues, etc of other CWM stock releases.
Some people have noticed weirdness when coming from GB related to the Home/Search keys. This appears to be related to updating from GB only (perhaps files on the SD card). Flashing the ROM a few times and booting into it between each flash seems to clear this up. Alternately, try backing up your internal SD card to your PC and then formatting it.
Miscellaneous:
If you want to enable "Preferred install location" in Settings -> Applications, run the following through an ADB shell and reboot:
Code:
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 'update system set value="1" where name="set_install_location";'
I love you.
nice!!!!!!
Nice, been waiting for this one. Screen shots are coming I assume? Can this be used on 727R's (Rogers)?

Granted, I was still fleshing out the post, so maybe it wasn't there yet. But please check Help in the first post.
Short answer, I don't know. I'm an AT&T subscriber But if the ICS leak worked on Rogers, then this should too. The beauty of this release is really in the updater-script
I got an aborted install...Im gonna try to download again and flash.

Installed fine. Need me to take screens, just ask. Thanks so much for this.
The Vol Down + Power has yet to work for me (for screenshots)... Nvm, you have to hold the buttons down.
ROM is good though. May I suggest adding the dictionary fix for the next go-'round?

EDIT: Donated...thanks romracer.
In case you need them.
So far so good. Smoother than the others so far. Had the home button bug. Reflashed and all is good. Thanks for all the work

Thanks, I'll put them up in the morning. One of my dogs ripped the skin off her lower jaw ("degloved the lower mandible") shortly after I posted this. Been a long night; surgery in the morning. Thanks for taking those SS.
First, I hope your dog is OK, I am a dog lover as well.
Ok, this might be a bit lengthy, but I've just spent 10 + hours trying different things and I want to let you know what all happened in hopes that the info can be used to help make Alien ICS one of the greatest ICS ROMS ever. Alot of this is already known, but I'll cover it anyway. And, of course, this is the experience I had with my phone...others may differ.
Background. I ODIN'd the ICS leak already, but found it buggy, bad connectivity, and a battery hog, so I went back to ALien 6 (GB).
I saw this posted and decided to give it another go. I followed the directions and didn't have any trouble with the actual install precedures themselves. However:
The first time I flashed the ROM, I found that I had the problem with the "Home an search" keys not working as well as the "shutdown and reboot" hanging. I tried to do a factory reset in the settings, but it wouldn't work. So I did another clean install of the ROM using the superwipe script this time as well.
The 2nd install fixed the "Home and Search" buttons, but I still had the "shutdown and reboot" hang. I fixed permissions, re-downloaded busybox and installed your insecure kernel and the 14 toggle mod. Nothing fixed it. SO, I did a 3rd clean install.
The 3rd time seemed to do the trick. Home and search buttons work, shutdown and reboot works, the 14 toggle mod works, etc. and, this time around everything seems alot more responsive and snappy.
Here is what I noticed:
All three install attempts (and the ODIN leak install) acted different in some ways that were suttle and others obvious. It appears to be hit or miss on any install and any method that is based on the ICS leak. I'm not sure why this is. But I am certain that reguardless of install method, it might take the way it is supposed to the first time, it might take 3 flashes or it might take 10 or more tries. It's just the luck of the draw. The fixes that people have reported as working are only temporary. That's why they work for some and not for others. It might make a certain aspect work (ie. installing a program makes shutdown work) but your ROM will still not be installed correctly. The only way to get it to work right is to keep trying until it installs with everything working, otherwise there will still be problems.
It will take of couple of days for me to test the connectivity and battery life.
So, people, as for now, if it isn't working for you the only real fix on this ROM or any based on the ICS leak is to keep reflashing until it finally works all the way.
I can't wait for you (romracer) to start baking the mods into this and if I can help let me know. I'll post back here when I get more results from this last flash. Thanks.
Is it safe to apply this over Alien #6 (GB)? Just follow the instructions in the OP?

That's exactly what I did. Make sure you make a nandroid of 6 before you do it...just in case you want to go back. And follow the directions completely. Make sure you flash the modem first. And understand that even if you follow the directions exactly you might still need to flash this more than one time to get everything working. Just make sure you check for any of the known glitches right after you flash and before you start personalizing it. That way if something isn't working correctly and you need to reflash a time or two or more, you will not have wasted any extra time in the process. When you finally get it the way you want it and feel it is installed correctly (glitch free) do another nandroid so you'll have a point to jump to if you want to try something else and then go back again. Good luck.
