as I can see some of you have HTC/TIM Branded devices:
Fastboot:
Sapphire PVT 32A Ship S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-322.20.27
and others have Vodafone Devices:
Fastboot: ???
Can anyone tell me whats the difference between this Hardware Versions?
Is anyone in contact with HTC? As I know from other phones, these are different Mass produtcion stages and you can update the bootloader / fastboot later on to a higer version.
Please can you sign your self-made ROM Versions with the fastboot version or the Hardware, that other people know, that they can use it.

Check out this thread in case you have a perfected SPL (fastboot remote: not allow).

How to flash :
Skip step 2 and boot into recovery mode instead of step 3, if you already have a custom recovery flashed!
Download the SPL of your choice and copy it to the root of your SD-card.
Download the appropriate recovery here
Boot in fastboot mode

Wait a while

I have a nordic magic, its HTC branded, its the same as the swedish 3 sell.
has anyone with the same spl as i have tried to flash into some other spl? i really want to use a standard vanilla google rom instead of this htc branded one!

Do you know how to backup an original SPL from Htc Magic?

weird how my 32A has a CPLD-11 while all others have 12. My magic is from rogers btw.
Just a guess (correct me if I'm wrong) :
- CPLD stands for "Complex programmable logic device" :
CPLD 10 : Ion + Vodafone
CPLD 11 : Vodafone?
CPLD 12 : HTC?
Does anyone know what the 10,11 and 12 mean?

You already have this SPL on your phone, I don't think there's a difference between 1.33.0009H and 1.3300.0009.
You should flash the Engineering SPL HBOOT-1.33.2005 if you want to flash different roms. If you want to run google's vanilla rom (like the ion) you should also flash the corresponding radio version... It can be risky since you don't have a backup of your radio/SPL.

but what can go wrong if it doesnt work, and why shouldnt it work? i dont really understand what the different SPL does. and why do i need a certain SPL to flash some roms?

I have managed to create a goldcard and apply this engineering spl (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010 - ROM v2.53.707.2) by Amon_RA in hboot.
After rebooting, the splashscreen has changed to HTC and I now have Android v1.5. Everything went well, so I thought until I went back to fastboot to check on the SPL

And the radio is now 3.22.20.17.
I understand I have messed up by applying the wrong SPL. I tried to fastboot "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img", it hangs at the HTC magic splashscreen.
My questions:
What should one do to obtain s-off g and the appropriate radio?
Should one:
apply a different SPL, say 1.33.2004? < I think this is a google phone engineering SPL?
Or:
Change the radio following Amon_RA Revert to 32B Radio and ROM instructions?
The whole point of me gaining root access is to store applications on the sdcard and have a clean fast ROM.

I am running Amon_RA custom ROM at the moment and it is asking me to activate my T-mobile myTouch 3G phone. Now I could not use gmail because I could not activate via a t-mobile sim card.
Under Settings > About phone > Model number = T-Mobile mytouch 3G
Is there any way I could change this Amon_RA to a vodafone base? or is there anyway to activate google account via wifi like it was in Vodafone?

After turning off and on the phone. I am able to log onto google via wifi
Amon_RA custom ROM is fast! I am enjoying the clean v1.6 android. Way faster than the stock ROM.
Perhaps later I will try Cyanogen ROM

If I ever need to send the phone back to Vodafone - how do I revert back to the stock ROM and SPL?
flash the stock rom (either from your backup or search the web),
flash the stock splash if you have a custom one by then,
flash the perfect SPL back.

My g2 seems to be playing up a bit recently. Sigh.
I suspect i might need to use the warranty eventually and looks like what i have done to my g2, flashing the new recovery, spl, radio and rom, would have void the warranty terms and conditions.
So i need to flash everything back to what it was when i opened the box...
