Default download location - Touch Pro2 CDMA

I have a Telus branded TP2, and I downloaded .Net compact framework 3.5. I originally had dl'ed to my storage card, but it wouldn't run that way. I then dl'ed it to my device by tapping "open" instead of "save". When the download finished, it didn't launch. I see by my leftover device memory that it did download, but I can't find it.
Does it need to actually be installed, or is it already running, and how do I find it? I did a search, even went manually through my files, but cannot locate it.

Wow, 60 plus views & no help? Anyone? Did not think it would make it off the front page with zero replies.

Try File Explorer andlook in the My Documents folder.
Did you download with Opera?

Thanks for replying. I went through everything I could open with file explorer when I downloaded it, couldn't find it. Even tried finding it with Total Commander. I don't remember if I used Opera or IE.

I had the same issue when selecting open instead of save. The cabs have been saving to a folder called MUSIC...this is a different folder from the folder My Music. when you open file explorer go to My Device and the folder MUSIC should be located there. Consider that I have a Verizon TP2. I hope this helps.

I did actually look there, looked in all my folders, still can't find them. Thanks for the suggestion nevertheless.

Did you try looking in \Application Data\Opera9 ?
If Net CF is loaded you should see it under remove programs.

What am I missing? I didn't see or find a reg key in the .rar file.
hey tell me how you copy the file as i cannot???
And to see reg file you must set view hidden file in the folder option.
I first put the files that are to be copied to the windows folder in a folder on my storage card (any folder). I then opened total commander and selected all the documents in that folder and did a copy to the windows folder. done. Restarted the phone (using the power button) and when it came back up, Faria camera, at your service.
Did you find the difference in camera.?

T-Mobile MDA Compact IV and Cab files

Hi I am new to this and need some advice.
For 3 days I have tried to install the TF3D config file on my T-Mob MDA Compact IV
ROM Version 1.37.110.3 dated from June 2008
I have saved the config tool to my PC.
I copy the folder that contains several files.
I open active sync and browse to a desired destination and paste the folder.
On the phone I browse via the explorer to the pasted folder
I see the one called setup and try to install this and it keeps launchng the web n walk opera browser.
Is that right? Do I need to do something else?
It doesnt seem to install the config tool.
I have tried opening the files ending in 001 002, 003 etc and removing or adding back the tweak.
I have even updated to framework 3.5
Is there something I am missing? I've read pages and pages on the internet, watched vids from you tube and I cant get why its not happening for me.
I have tried installing in to the root, on the internal store, in windows and that makes no difference
I then tried copying flashplayer for ppc and though none of those files are associated to the opera browser, I cant run them either as the phone thinks they are unassociated files. It doesn't see them as a cab.
All I want to do is install a theme for touchflow.
However msi installs work fine.
Has T-mobile locked down the ability to install cab files?
Please help I am out of ideas
ahhhhhhh haaaaaa
OK I found the problem
I unzipped the file on my PC and cpoied the unzipped files over.
That was totally wrong I see now.
I should have copied the zipped file on to the PPC and opened it on the device
Thanks

Really simple question

I'm trying to create a program for windows mobile 2003/5.0/6.0 smartphone but I can't for the life of find the File Explorer. I can in 6.0 but where is it in 5.0 or 2003. Please no links to google or "jfgi" responses, I wouldn't be asking if I had yielded any success.
Thanks in advance
Have you tried looking into Total Commander. It is a 3rd party app and is a very good File Explorer for the PPC, I highly recommend it. As for the stock one, it should just be in the program folder, no?
Hope this helps.
PS If you Google Total Commander for Pocket PC, be sure to download and install the PPC version NOT the desktop version.
Nol. It isn't. I can't find the stock file explorer to save my life. Did 5.0/2003 not come with one? Am I so stupid that it's right in front of my face?
on my Jamin beofre i flashed 6.1 rom it had 5.0. I am sure the iexplore.exe was in the windows folder, 99% sure it should be there. I dont have it anymore so i can t check for you, but i have a reasonable memory
Not the internet explorer. File explorer. Or file manager. Either one. Nowhere to be found.

Lol, Ironically, he would need to search the Windows Folder from File Manager, which he doesn't have apparently
Like I suggested, download and install Total Commander. And do it with a .msi over the Activesync cable, because you won't be able to install a .cab from the storage card without a File Explorer. From there, you can then look in File Manager for its own launch program.

THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you. I wasn't sure if it didn't have a file explorer of I was just retarded. Thanks for clearing that up though.

Where is the .zip file I downloaded?

Hello, I have downloaded a zip file through IE. Where I can find it ?
Thank you
There isnt a specific place... each app has its own isolated storage where it keeps their files.
You should be able to open that ZIP file from the browser and it will show you the files within... if they are recognised file types by WP7, it will let you run them.
But that's it, you have no file manager you can goto and fetch that saved file.
PS: well, you have... but I'm unsure if TouchXplorer is still working or not.
Thanks for this, but how can i delete it if I can't find it? I use the TouchXplorer...
I am concerning about the phone memory.
Generally, files downloaded through IE are stored in temporary memory and will be erased after a certain amount of time.
I ran into the same problem today. luckily i hit the windows button so all I have to do is hit the back button to reach the zip file again. Kind of frustrating when you dont have a file explorer and no other way to reach the file you just downloaded

[Q] Writing a file back to a Marketplace apps Isolated Storage?

Hi All,
I've used Heathcliff's WP7RootTools 0.9 to extract a file from an installed apps IsolatedStorage. The app in question was installed from the Marketplace, but I want to modify some of the files it's saved to it's Isolated Storage.
I extracted the file I wanted to edit by using the Explorer utility in WP7RootTools to copy the file to the "My Documents" folder, and renamed the extension to docx. From there I could simply go into the Office Hub, where the file was now listed, and emailed the file to myself.
I have made the edits to the file, but now need to get the file back into the app's Isolated Storage. This is where I have now got a bit stuck
I've tried copying the file to SkyDrive, and using the Office Hub to download it from SkyDrive to my phone. The file downloaded and is cached on the phone somewhere, but the file location, according to Office is not "Phone". This is normal, as Skydrive downloaded documents are not saved to the "Phone" location until you open the document and do "Save as".
I cannot of course open the downloaded file, as it isn't really a .docx file. Files loacted in the "Phone" location show up in "My Documents" in the WP7RootTools explorer. SkyDrive downloaded documents I have no idea where they are located?
Can you guys help? Does anyone know the path to location of SkyDrive downloaded items on the phone. If so, then I can easily just use the WP7Roottools Explorer to copy the file back to the apps Isolated Storage.
Is there a better way to copy a non-Office file back onto the phone?
Regards,
Micro666
You could use one of these apps:

i was going to suggest using WPV App Data Backup, but it seems i saved the Backups in the wrong location... (will fix in next release)
so,
you can use TouchXperience or WMDC Launcher.

I'm looking to do the exact same thing....
Options:
1. Do exactly what you've been doing, but save as .txt instead of .docx. The phone can still open this, even though its probably a binary file, and save it to the "Phone" location. Then you can copy it back and rename it.
2. Use an app that gives direct access to the phone's filesystem from the PC, like TouchXperience+WPDM, or Root Webserver (see my sig)+your favorite webbrowser.
3. Use any other way to get a file onto the phone, such as emailing it to yourself, using IsolatedStorageexplorer, or putting it in a XAP files and installing that file. Then move the file with WP7 Root Tools.
I recommend approach #2.

I used TouchExperience.
1.On my Fully unlocked Device(I assume you can do this with root tools), I installed a file manager that gives full access to the device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24636416&postcount=23
2. I installed TouchEperience on my PC. After giving the WP7 app, Root tools rights, it should show most of the file system(on the PC) but, not all of it. So I created a new folder in \Windows (temp).
3. On the Phone, I hunted down the file I was looking for from Isolated Storage, I copied it to the \windows\temp folder.
4. Used the PC TouchExperience and browsed to \Windows\temp, there was my files, I copied them to my PC. USed the File Explorer to delete the files in my \temp folder(to make sure they were gone).
5. I edited the files, copied them back to \Windows\Temp on my device via TouchExperience on the PC. Then used the file explorer to copy them back to the Isolated Storage.
Note: The file explorer I posted a link to is GREAT, it can even edit files (basic text editor) in Isolated storage. I found a way to Cheat on a marketplace Xbox live game (didn't try others), right before the achivements, so they were really easy to get
I'm sure there is easier methods but, this worked for me...
Can I ask, what app did you try this on ?
Hope this helped...
FYI DavidinCT: Cheating XBL games is very risky. Microsoft often can detect it (for example, if you get one achievement that would have required getting another first) and they can and will permanently ban your Xbox Live account for doing so.
That all said... why didn't you just use WPDM (on the PC) to copy the file straight to the IsoStore of the app? So much easier...

To be honest, I only did it with a game that had an error when I got so far, so the final achivements of the game. A Game with a Known issue but, no fix.
And I just really wanted to see if I COULD do it...
I used WPDM but, the PC version even with my phone fully unlocked (custom rom on my VZW HTC Trophy) and using Root tools 0.9 to give full to TouchExperince root, would not see all the folders and would not see the IsoStore. SO I had to copy the files to a folder that WMDM could see.
Personally, the new File Explorer above is awsome, it's even got a editor in it, I didn't even need to go through all that......
