POST/BIOS logo from cooked rom, can't remove - General Topics

Hi Guys, sorry if this has been asked before, but I installed the energyrom (i think) a while back, sine then I've moved on to newer and better roms, but that rom left a white sword every time I boot the phone, is there any way I can get rid of this? - since installing a new rom, doesn't affect the pre-boot logo...
Thanks in advance!

You need to flash a new splash screen. Search your rom forum, I'm sure there's a thread or two with a collection to choose from. Some chefs include a splash with their rom, others don't.

Thanks so much! - I was beginning to worry, searching now.

Not-so N00B dumb question

I've been flashing new ROMS on an 8525 for a couple of years now, but I'm new to the 8925.
I've been reading a lot, I think I understand the relation between SPL and the ROMs now, but I'm still puzzled.
I keep getting a lot of cruft left behind from prior ROMs and don't know how to get rid of it. for example about three ROMs ago, I flashed the "Mobile Vista" from ansar. Now I still get his Today theme, and there are still a lot of apps installed that read "ansar..."
I've tried removing the battery before flashing, making sure the SPL version is OK with the ROM doing hard resets - nothing seems to let this device start from a "clean slate".
I'm trying to find a ROM I can be happy with, which is why I'm trying so many, but I can't fairly evaluate aon one ROM if I don't know what I've really got installed.
TIA
Walt
I've never heard of anything like that happening Are you sure it is the today theme, or just the boot splash? That would be most likely.
As far as the programs, maybe most of them are from ansar? Which ROM are you using right now?
I just flashed the PDA Corner latest version (15) and it seems to be behaving now. Prior ROMS I tried this morning included Athine, Garmin and Phoenix.
Prior to flashing PDA Corner, I did an "Erase memory" (hard reset from software) and removed the battery for about 10 minutes. Maybe that's what did it. I agree, I've never seen anything like this before, I always thought that flashing the ROM reased everything, but then I started reading about SPL on the Kaiser somehow being more than just a bootloader so I got concerned.
And yes, it was the Today screen including clock, wallpaper, etc. The splash screen on bootup actually did change to the one corresponding to the new ROM.
Thanks.
Walt
When flashing a new ROM, when you get to the "Tap screen to begin" do you perform a Hard Reset?
If not, I suggest you start doing now.
Also, merschle (ex-moderator and Artemis cook) recommended flashing a ROM twice with a Hard Reset in between. I don't do this, but it just might help

Flash a stock HTC rom and then try a modified rom again. It always helped me when i got strange flash problems.

I hard reset three times then I flash an OEM ROM, then I hard reset three more times to be sure. I know it's anal, but it works for me.
I don't know how you're flashing try the SD Card method.
It's safer and more reliable.
The SPL & Rom have closer relationship than on your older device.
A sign of have the wrong SPL or needing to change to another SPL is freezing. If you notice your device is freezing or non-responsive, flash the recommended SPL by the chef.
Don't worry any, I was the same when I upgraded from the Wizard...gotta learn all over again.

Splashscreen

Hi, I have read through the wiki guide for splashing.
Still have not been able to resolve this issue:
I was using the PDAUltimate ROM, then decided to switch ROMs and try a new one. however, when I do the hard reset and flash the new ROM, I still get the PDA splash screen.
any way I can prevent this from happening?

Not all cooked roms come with new custom splash screens and sometimes because of the the splashes from previous roms get leftover. If it bothers you, flash a new custom splash screen.

G1 Rom problems

hey I have had my g1 for a couple weeks now and have been changing roms off and on usually i stay on cyanogen's but sometimes i get restless and change to a hero rom or one of the newer eclair rooms. I recently had one of the those spurts of restlessness and tried one of the newer eclair roms and didn't like it but now when i try to change the rom i get an error message that says "Failure at line 31: symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/chmod" then the installation gets aborted, I have tried flashing just back to the regular dreamimg29 thing and that works but if i try to do any other rom after i get root it doesn't work wont boot into the new rom just gets stuck at the g1 screen. I really don't know if this is something that i did to myself or if its just that i have done to many different roms and the flash memory has gotten scrambled up or something ( i do wipe before every rom and follow the proper steps before each one just saying) so if anyone can help thanks.... sorry this was a long post i really want to get back to cyanogen's rom and i really dont have the know how to understand what its telling me. Oh and this is like my first post so im sorry if it's in the wrong place
your prolly on the wrong SPL.. hold home+back when turning your phone on to see if your on the right SPL.. if the rainbow screen comes up.. your not. if the android logos riding skateboards comes up.. you are
got it
Alright I got cyanogens running but now there are none of the google apps lol I knew that would happen just can't figure out how to get them on
you got to flash the htc "recovery" file to get google apps then flash cyanogen since cyanogen took them out for legal reasons

Boot loop. Did you wipe before flashing? And you should install CM6 (froyo). OpenEclair is no longer updated/monitored because froyo came out.
no just finished downgrading to "cf29" then when on to flash, how do you do a complete wipe? tried downloading CM6 but all the links i found were broken, do you have a working link, maybe a guide,pleeease....
OpenEclair 3.1? I was under the impression that OpenEclair was dead and died at like 1.2 or something like that. Link to where the new OE is?
honeslty I cant remember the version, but its stuck on that boot screen, not the g1 screen. tried installing a new rom Htcclay's SuperFast v1.3.3 now this one goes past the boot screen but just when it looks like its going to load the home screen, screen stays black. HOW DO I WIPE?
This belongs in the area of the forum called "G1 Questions and Answers".
Please refrain from asking questions about an outdated, obsolete, and no longer supported rom. It is for the best.

Rom Flashing/Recovery Flashing help LG Optimus V

This isn't the first time I've flashed but this is the first time I've encountered this much trouble so here's the story:
I've put in a CWN-Based recovery, and I've tried to flash OverDrive ROM, when I boot into the ROM I get a blank screen and nothing happens. I've tried adding the PicaSticks Kernel to is as well, and I get a red "Hello" (not the a full startup screen) and then back to the blank again. I also tried one other ROM (the name escapes me), both ROM's claiming to have the blank screen fixed.
Also, If I flash to a Gingerbread, and my phone has been activated once before (it's off right now I have paid it yet this month), do I still need a Froyo before I can upgrade it to Gingerbread?
Any help at all with this is appreciated, thanks in advanced.
Update: I got Xionia to flash into it and I've wiped all the things it says to do prior to installing, then I'm installing Overdrive 2.2 (Android 2.2.2) de-odexed and I get a blank screen still. Not sure what to try from here. I also cannot even flash a different kernel. I feel so stupid here.
I am really not able to understand your queries.
Could you please start from the beginning :fingers-crossed:
