BT audio on GPS - General Questions and Answers

Hey all,
Hope this is the right place to post this in.
I recently purchased a GPS unit off ebay, link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250496429770&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Now, it came pre-loaded with Windows CE.
What I want to do is stream audio through my nokia phone via bluetooth to the GPS unit. My brother has a very similar GPS unit, albeit it's a head deck not a portable unit, and on his you just gotta connect the bluetooth and press play on the phone and it works.
Now on mine, it does everything except play. Connect the phone to the GPS bluetooth, press play on the phone, no audio anywhere. The phone is sending audio to the GPS unit, as no music is coming from the phone, however at the same time, nothing is coming from the GPS unit. Calls work fine, however.
Anyways, I have tried finding bluetooth applications and stuff, but I cant figure out how to install them to the GPS. I have access to the SD card as well as the filesystem on the GPS via activesync. So I can see Windows/Program Files/My documents etc (nothing in any folder except Windows, FYI).
The problem I face is, I get the .cab file I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1671327&postcount=4
But I just cant install it. I cant install it as the GPS doesn't seem to have anywhere I can select a file path and press "install". It only has a GPS navgator browse thing, which only looks for .exe's.
I mean, I should be able to install stuff shouldn't I? It's running Windows and there is a Tools folder with a calculator and currency converter, as well as a games folder with games and flash folder with flash content. Surely there is a way of installing an app?
Thx in adv for the replies

Play SR on Kenwood car stereo via USB?

Hey all - tried to search for this but didn't find anything... I have a Kenwood car stereo that plays iphone via usb port, but I wasn't able to see how to get it to work by seeing the SR as a media device. On my captivate, you could choose 'media player' as a usb mode, but that wouldn't work either. Any ideas? I like the idea of playing music while being able to charge the phone at the same time. It does charge off of the deck via usb, but just can't get it to find the music on the SR.
That is such a coincidence, I just put in probably the same (or similar) Kenwood stereo into my car (KDC-248U). I was looking around on the website and under the KDC-252U they list an Android app "Kenwood Music Control" it's in the Market. I am going to give that a try later today.
*** EDIT
Apparently the app analyzes your music or something and then puts a file on your device to make it readable, worth looking into.

Nice call! You have to have the music on the external SD though, in case anyone else has a problem getting it running Then choose 'auto output' in preferences. Also appears that the program stays active all the time... which I'm not crazy about, but it does work!

That's great news! I gave it the ol college try but came up empty. Maybe you can help me out.
First what model stereo do you have and second, how do you store your media on your external SD , in a folder "music" or under a second level folder? Lastly, how did you get it to recognize did you plug it in and quickly choose USB storage or did you plug it in, choose USB storage and then cycle sources till you landed back on USB?

So I've been playing around with it and now I can get it to play all the time. First plug USB into phone then into Head unit. When head switches to "Reading" change source to something else (Radio, Portable, etc.). Now enable USB storage and open Kenwood App, while doing this switch to "USB" on the source and it will play.
Now I am having lots of issues getting new music to read, I have tried manually analyzing to no such luck. What options do you have on? I noticed that at one time on reboot it re-did the scan.
It's not very elegant but it works. I wish I didn't have to use an app running all the time.

I first scanned the music so it was all recognized by the app. Plug it in, and while the stereo is showing 'reading's then turn on the PC storage (and assuming you have auto output enabled). Then it worked. Clunky, but better than nothing for linger car trips. My stereo is the x695 excelon deck.

Kenwood Music Editor Light
After playing around a bit it seems really clunky and I don't like the idea of the app running all the time. However I did find a solution, the Kenwood Music Editor (Light Edition).
http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/music_editor_light/english/download.html
You are still limited to music on your external SD card but it does not require the Kenwood app to be running or present to work. It was meant to make music playable on any USB device so it can be used for flash cards as well if you are having issues reading them. You plug your device into a computer (Windows only) and then run a scan and you should be good to go.
After doing this it's the same situation to play for me, plug in and turn on USB storage (it takes long for my phone to get into USB storage so that is why I have to cycle the Sources after it's connected to get the stereo to play). It remembers track position and everything.

newer car-stereos usualy suport any file when you put the phone in "storage-device"-mode.
im looking to get controll over the phone from my stereo, yther use the player in the phone or spotify. works great whit an iphone, but cant find any solution to get the same controll from my htc desire hd...
im guessing its not the stereo itself but the phones software thats the problem, not allowing audio out or controlls in from the microUSB
id love a solution to this though

Bluetoooth audio to laptop speakers

Hello!
I have a Bell Canada Sensation 4G, running Android Revolution 6.5.
I have a work laptop (Toughbook CF-52). I got given a brand new 2012 Ford F-150 yesterday, it has Ford SYNC. I successfully stream music from my Sensation to the Ford stereo over bluetooth, no issues. Works with Tune-In radio and XM radio apps.
Now, I want to do the same, keep my phone in a drawer, and play XM to my laptop via bluetooth. I have paired the device with laptop, connection works, even tethering.
I went into bluetooth options on laptop and made sure "Audio Sink Service" is enabled. Now I'm not sure what else I need to do to get the audio to play on the laptop. It's a company laptop that is locked down hard, limited admin rights, and only access to Windows Media Player. Any thoughts on how to get this going? I would just play XM through IE browser, but we are locked out of the site. I want to also avoid constantly plugging/unplugging speakers to my phone, hence why I want to BT the audio to the laptop.
Thanks a bunch! (additional info below)
Additional info from my searching...
I long click on my BT device like this guy did, but I dont get any options come up for bluetooth. I find zero way to get any extra options in BT settings on the phone that has anything to do with media, or audio, etc.

I had the same problem - I got music, but phone audio didn't work.
I went into Settings>Wireless & Networks>Bluetooth Settings, long-pressed on the bluetooth device I was using, selected options, unchecked both "Phone" and "Media", then re-checked them both.
After that, I got both A2DP media audio, as well as phone headset functionality.

Automatic music playing on BT

Hi,
Another question:
I have BT in my car. I also have car charger.
When I connect phone to car's BT and start to charge the phone, music starts to play through BT from phone.
How can i disable this automatic turn on of music player on phone?
Tell us something more!
Which musicplayer are you using!
Is there StockROM on your device?
Are you using apps to manage BT-connections?
...
Yeah, sorry, forgot to copy paste this:
I'm running 2.3.5 VoiduS 3D v1a [PROXUSER] with Sense 3.0.
Application is standard music player, nothing fancy from my side.
As far as i know, i dont have any apps managing my BT..
Needed some time to find that ROM, a little bit old one! You havent got updates this year
May a try on a ROM with regular updates would make sense?
But now to your problem:
I never used that ROM, so standardplayer there is HTC-musicplayer i can see on proxusers thread?!
I can't find any options in standardplayer where to choose an option to start music automatically after connecting to BT-device!
Following settings i find on Stock-Sense-ROM, so on yours it could be a bit different:
In "settings/wireless&networks/BT-settings/bluetooth devices" you can find paired devices!
Hold the device of your car, a popup will apear. Choose "options". Untick "media".
May it helps. Otherwise there also could be an option on your car's device which you'll have to tick/untick!?
Hmm, this MOD was only one that didnt explicitly demanded full wipe of my phone.
need to look into new MODs, I'm just too lazy to set up phone from the scratch again, since i already have all the settings i want set up.
As far as cars BT settings are concerned, i just tested removing paired device from car BT system and re-adding it with only phone function, but once i save it it automatically adds music function too. I guess phone demands a music function :S

[Q] How do i enable bluetooth setting in the maind menu

Alright here is my dilemma: I have a android head unit for my car An6b01 (Adayo, FORYOU, K1) it runs on froyo 2.2 it has a 6.1 inch screen, 1 sd micro slot & and 1 regular sd, 3 usb ports wi-fi and bluetooth 1ghz arm8 processor etc. I'm able to go on the market place web and all that good stuff my problem is that although the unit runs on android 2.2 it has its own native apps which seem to control some of the hardware on the unit. For example it has a bluetooth app thats designated for pairing with your phone which lets you play music off of it receive calls and go through your phone book, This app also enables if the bluetooth is on or not. Now if you go to android settings the bluetooth option is not there and i'm unable to pair with different device such a ODB2 module. I was wondering if there is a way that i could add the bluetooth option back into my setting in order for me to pair with other devices. I have tried some of the apps of the market place like "Bluetooth Enabler" and "Bluetooth Manager" but when i try turning on the bluetooth through there it just says "Turning on Bluetooth" and nothing happens. My unit is rooted and i'm familiar with editing the system files and flashing roms. Could any one give me some tips on how i can enable the Bluetooth setting in my android setting? I also have all the system files if anyone is willing to look at it. thanks:
i just relized that i might of put this in a wrong area... feel free to move it sorry

which DVR app works fine?

I run malaysk rom 4.4.4 and have a USB dvr camera installed.
I cannot find a app which works fine and what i want.
It should do the following:
- start on bootup radio
- option to go to automaticly to background and start recording automaticly
- option to choose storage location
Tried a lot of apps only one does this but the app constanlty crashes when i open the settings menu (autoboy BlackBox).
When i run the app on my table (lolipop) it works fine, but on my rk3388 mtcb radio (with latest malaysk rom) it crashes when opening setting menu to configure it.
Anyone have an idea which app can do this
I too would like recommendations for my MX (Witson) unit as currently the stock DVR records to the internal 16gb despite having a 4gb in GPS slot and 32gb in 2nd slot. The app has no option to select storage. Very annoying as finishes all the space up and slows unit down.
Thanks
I run Dailyroads Voyager.

You may have to use the PCV Startup Builder to put an entry in to start it up automatically on boot.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pcv.installrecovery.builder&hl=en
I have it starting automatically, in the background, set storage to the GPS card, and it works fine with every USB cam I have ever tried it with.
I use AutoBoy https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.happyconz.blackbox&hl=en its the only on I've found that lets you flip the camera 180 for when you have it mounted on the windscreen. It starts on boot, monitors the front camera and location via GPS, it also has youtube upload.

Aaaahhh tried on phone like i do before trying on head unit like i always do and can't save to either SD card on the MTCD! Gives me option on phone Galaxy S7. Frustrated as seemed like the best one
Which camera do you use exactly? I hope I will soon receive the new MTCD unit for Peugeot 508 (WITSON) and I am also thinking of purchasing the DVR camera but can't decide what type shall I buy. There is not much information about the available cameras on internet, not many videos on youtube etc., almost no posts here on the forum.
Does someone have the Joying HD SONY IMX322... camera? They say in the description it will only work with JOYING head unit. Is it true? Does it require any special app that is available only in their ROM? According to the pictures it has SD card slot so I think it stores the files on this card, not in the head unit??? So it should start recording after connecting to any USB charger like any other camera?
Or is any other USB or so called webcam better? There are plenty of them like Genius and so on...
Thanks for comments.
Could you help me to identify my software, please?
Hello, everybody,
I bought my Peugeot 508 SW with installed DVR and I can't find out, what software is installed, there? I would like to update maps into my iGO at least. But I can't find any input for SD card. Probably, it is hidden somewhere into its body... But, I am not sure, because of I can't identify it, so far.
Could you help me to identify my software, please?
It is HMI: MX010.1.1, MCU Version "MX801.151211(54)", "MMP.2015.9.16.14.2", whatever does it mean?
Thank you very much.
