A few WM 6.5.1 annoying things, please help. - General Questions and Answers

I just flashed a customized rom, to be specific, Juicy 8 most recent release with wm 6.5.2 23052. With the so-called finger friendly UI, it looks ugly at the bottom task bar, fonts, buttons, and one important thing is not all popular software can automatically adapt to the new UI. For example, memmaid does not , so part of its menu was blocked by the bottom wm bar; haali reader does not, so the "exit" button and ok button (normally at top right corner) was blocked by the top bar with battery icon and time, now I can't confirm any changes in the setting coz there's no "OK" button. Is there a way to get around this?
3. Youtube app does not work, all videos are "connecting" then a "cannot play the video" pops out. However my connection is fine, tried it with home wifi or strong evdo signal, failed both.
Thanks

Windows Mobile 6.5.x is still in the beta stages of development, so things may not work right, and there is no way to fix that as no one outside of Microsoft's development team has access to the source code.
I'm sure these problems won't be in the final version.

Help me can't see notification throught softkey

I have a problem since i use smartphones with notifications and reminders : when it came no problem i can dissmiss it etc but if i see it after ,the softkey shows "notification" only few millisecondes then shows the normal softkey for 3secondes (i will soon try without custom softkey) and it loop. Futhermore when it happens i can't see any notification icon in taskbar (i don't known if icon should be there) It append for all notification and reminders (task calendar missed called) and in my two device htc p3450 and etenX800 and with both wm6 and 6.1 the only app i have always in the two device is QuickMenu 2.7 (very nice) (i will try to remove it). the problem is not always but is geating worst when i install more apps(maybe one of them is the problem).
Does somebody knoes how to fix this. or at least.
Is there a solution to make a notification window active without the softkey and without icon. Is there a solution to always show notifications Icon.
Thanks and good work(very good site full of information).
help me please
if something is not clear i can even try to send a video of the pb
What phone, OS, ROM, and reminders? If you are using custom softkeys, try removing them.
thank to help me
Curently my phones 3450 WM6 latest official rom
and EtenX800 WM6.1 CustomLight Rom(i had official before)
i have this problem with all these configurations and quite all notifications and reminders (ex : missed call, task reminders, the notification a the first windows startup who ask for sending info to microsoft ,etc...)
the notification which is the most blocked is the one generated by quickmenu when i tap on his battery icon.Futhermore as i haven't seen this problem in any forum and as i have this problem whit very diferent configuration (OS PHONE ROM PROG)i think this probleme come from Quickmenu which is the only common point i see.
I am asking myself if somebody else has already seen this? answer will be welcome
I have removed custom softkey and i have seen the problem again
I Have Found
I have disabled the QuickMenu taskbar icon which indicate free memory and battery and the problem has disapeared.
But it's a shame i loved to see my free memory ram in the taskbar.
Is somebody know a app or a way to show free memory ram in text and in Mb on the taskbar. (i already found wktask which doesn't work properly)
Hello,
I discover this topic which is close to my small issue: since I migrate to a Manila 2D based Rom (HTC Polaris / P3650), the reminders notifications pop up as expected but aren't anymore replacing the left softkey on my today screen (when the notifications pops up, everything is ok, but if I don't immediately press any key, it definitely vanished from the today).
The taskbar and menu bar icons are ok but since this notification disapears from the today's softkey, I'm not anymore abble to directly open the notification's menu, nor the text notification.
Is there any registry key where I could fix it ?

Sorry for multiple posts... seems there is some server bugs

Alerts vs. menu bar

I'm not sure if this is a setting or a byproduct of TF3D, but I can't stand the way that alerts work.
If I have a reminder for an upcoming appointment, the notification toast doesn't appear at the bottom like it did with my Mogul and other WM devices. The chime goes off and the alert icon appears on the menu bar, so I hit that, I get the menu bar selection screen and then if I hit the alarm bell, the toast displays at the bottom.
I'm running the default Sprint ROM for now, with some of the basic tweaks. This (and the inability to use a 4-pin headset) are my only real remaining beefs.
Is there a config or tweak I can do, is this just the way it is?

I have a ATT fuze so I dont know how much of difference the set up is...Did you look in system, sounds and notifications then notifications then scroll to reminders and make sure display message on screen is checked...What else have you installed that could be interferring?
Slawcops hint did the trick here.
After upgrading to the newest HTC official (dutch) ROM, TF3D was always in front of such system messages.
By going into the setting menu, sounds and notifications, notifications tab
then selecting "Reminders" (I guess thats what's it called in the english version) in the dropdown box and enabling the "show message in screen" my problem was solved.
Hope this helps!
edit: It would seem this action is needed every time after a soft-reset...if anyone knows where and if this value is stored in the registry, I would really like to know.

[Q] Windows Mobile 6.5 home screen

Hello, i have updated to windows mobile 6.5 and i have a really annoying problem with it. In the top right corner there is an area below the time and battery status where other applications have buttons, but when i tap there a popup shows up with the battery status, missed calls etc. I want to get rid of it, or customize it, or set it's sensibility. Can you guys help me? This is what i'm talking about exactly: kepfeltoltes[.]hu/110121/4527310946_6e9cc5efba_www[.]kepfeltoltes[.]hu_[.]jpg

People running 4.4, what changes have you noticed?

I'm wondering if updating the Droid Maxx and Ultra have given you some of the same features found on Moto Xs running KitKat, such as Moto Skip NFC unlock support, access to updated Motorola apps from the play store, etc.

Small UI changes. Updated to Droid Zap. Wallpaper no longer shifts when you scroll. Most noticeable or odd the gate. Many more small changes behind the scenes that are not very prominent.

The NFC unlock with skip was already part of the November update, IIRC.
The differences that I have noticed:
- when you press the home key while using the stock launcher, it always brings you back to the default home screen, even if the last used home screen was another one. It's almost like you pressed home twice. It's a little annoying.
- if you have two apps that can do something, with nothing set as the default (say, two browsers on the system), the first time a browser link is pressed a list of items is shown, allowing yo to choose one and choose a button that says "Just once" or "Always". That's not new, but what is new is that if you select something and say "Just once", that item will be highlighted the next time you have the same choice.
- there is a full-screen mode for apps that support it. The first time you see it it tells you that you can return to normal with a swipe down from the top.
- if you turn on "tap to focus" in the camera app, there is a new focus/white balance control that you can drag to a focus point and then tap anywhere to take the photo and use that as the focus point (and, as I said, to control exposure/white balance.)
- apparently it supports BT LE devices like the Fitbit, and supports tap to pay for Google Wallet (though I use neither of these so cannot confirm for sure.)
- the status bar remains black and the battery status and time are still blue, with the network icons remaining blue for Google connection and gray for no Google authentication, and they also still show network activity (this is unlike the Moto X.) There is a new location status icon that looks like a white Google Maps place point icon. For some reason the network icons look different to me, but they may be the same.
- there is now an unlabeled icon to clear all notifications in the notification shade, and the settings page icon looks a little different. Also, the settings gear icon looks a little different.
- there is a setting to allow you to set the default messaging app.(settings->more [under "wireless & networks"]->default SMS app)
- there is now a settings->printing setting (I don't think that was there in Jellybean) and I have printed from GMail, Hangouts and Chrome.
There really isn't a whole lot that's different or that looks all that different. (I probably missed some things...)
I only ran JB for a day so I don't really know if this is new, but I've noticed many apps now have the annoying 3-dots menu show up all by itself, occupying as much space as if we had a soft-key nav bar.
Very annoying, wish there was a way to get rid of that.

Thanks! I never even thought to look there. I'm sooo much happier with it now.
I have an issue where when texting someone and they reply the keyboard disappears. I backup all my stuff and did a factory reset from the recovery menu and it was fine until 2 days ago. I loved JB before this update. The only thing that was better in this update was performance and that's it. There are still a ton of little issues with KitKat vs. JB

overcoming layout issues

We have a thread already about Textra's send button not working properly because the app thinks you're tapping about a centimeter below it, but I've found similar glitches in other apps - FX File Explorer, for instance, has a menu at the top-right that pops up under the status bar. It seems to me these problems are being caused by apps somehow confusing the tap location by counting from the top of the screen instead of the bottom of the status bar. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that the phone *tries* as much as possible to get apps to draw to the top of the screen, under the status bar, and things go wrong when they won't. The most obvious fix, short of getting every developer to look into this or waiting for Essential to do something about it, would be to find a way to make the status bar work more traditionally, with apps not allowed to draw past the bottom of it. The question is, can we achieve that? I've had a look through the system/global/secure settings lists and nothing status bar related pops out at me there, so I'm thinking the next place to look is in the framework code, which I'll do this evening...but I thought I'd toss a thread up and see if anyone had other ideas.
