AT&T Fuze Microphone - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I see quite a few people in the forums complaining about the over sensitivity of the AT&T Fuze microphone but don't see any fixes for this. Is this a hardware issue and should the phone be returned for repair or is there a way to fix this with the AudioPara file. I have looked at the file and must admit I'm not tech savy enough to figure out what to edit. It's driving me nuts people always complain that they can hear a gnat fart if it's in the same room with me but can't hear me talking. Help please.
AT&T Fuze
Stock Rom 5.11.502.2 WWE
Audio light booster AudioPara3.csv

I think the audiopara file fixes this, I install it for the low volume issue, but I have not had any complaints.

I have a modified AudioPara file for increased speaker and earpeice volume but it doesn't help my microphone.

I know this thread is a little old, but I have searched on here and PPCGeeks for the last few hours and have not come across a fix for this, and didn't think starting a new thread to go with the many already out was the best idea. So, does anyone have a fix? AudioPara just works with the in-coming audio, I have not seen anything that works for the microphone sensitivity in calls. If I use a wired headset people can hear me just fine, they actually tell me I am a little loud at times. But if I unplug the headset they can't hear me unless I turn the phone and talk real loud directly into the mic, but then I can't hear them because the earpiece is not by my ear. This gets real annoying. I have had this issue on two heandsets now, the newest seems like it is even a little worse. Is it just a limit of the device, or have I been unlucky and gotten two with bad mics? Anyone?

Weird clicking chewing noise in call...

Ok First things first, I'm a perfectionist so this may be a bit weird.... I own two Imates, both the 128mb abd 64mb and both these phones have the same "issue" so I do not think its a fault in either one, but in the radio rom or speaker hadware of the Imate Jam's in general.
Whenever I hold either of the phones to my ear and make a call I can hear a very tiny clicking "chewing" noise that my wife described as an Ant trying to get out... Now it took her quite a while to hear it and I cannot hear at all in my left ear but when I use my right ear and the room is quiet enough it actually gives me a headache after a while.
I also have a nokia 6682 but does not have this issue at all. Can anyone else confirm this noise. You can hear it best when you first make a call and its ringing, between the rings. Help me out, I've scoured countless posts trying to find a fix or even someone who is bothered with this as well. I have not upgraded the rom to 113 but am planning to soon but I dont think that will help. Thanks guys.

Background noise when talking overwhelming...

Has anyone else noticed, or had anyone tell them, that the background noise is extremely loud and distracting, when you are talking to them on your Raph?
Apparently my microphone/receiver is picking up everything and people are hearing even the slightest sounds.
I called my wife from the car with the music very low, and she said it sounded like I was at a concert. A buddy called me and with no music on in the car, he kept asking if I was driving with the window down, or standing in the middle of traffic... And then when I went into a Panera Bread, with only a few people talking around me, he had to let me go because he couldn't hear me over all the extra noise.
I was not on speaker phone.
Is there anyway to dial down the microphone/receiver, like you can on a computer?
I did search through the forums, but was unable to find anything.
Thanks for the help.
There is in the settings area a item for hearing aid and non hearing aid mode. Try to set it either way and see if it helps?
I'm having the same problem too - is there a registry setting for this? HKLM\Software\HTC\Audiogain is no longer there...
Chiming in with this...have had several people tell me it sounds like I'm on speaker or like someone else said above, driving with the windows down.
I've had this issue as well. I can't remember if I had this issue before I started using cooked ROMs.
What ROM is everyone using?
I'm on PROven 1.08, but I've noticed this with earlier versions of PROven as well.
J.
Yep - just wanted to add that I'm having this problem too.
Almost every call I've made without a headset- someone has asked what was going on in the background.
Currently running Elite ROM
I mean, I know the mic is on the very bottom of the phone, but what's the deal?
Hello, guys.
i had this problem twice: just after i buy my Raphael and afer i take it to my service-center. There serious men just make hard reset and that's all!
the issue hide as i take my pda in hands.
but in several days it started again... i didn't know what to thing - cause i was very sad about this ****en problem.
nevertheless also after few days this problem hide away and never goe to my pda again.
I did'n do anything with my ROM (RUS 1.90.411.3, Radio:1.02.25.19)
...and it's very interesting.
if anybody has the answer to the question: "Why does it happen?" i'd be very glad to hear about this one.
sorry for my english)
hear myself
I have a simmilar backround noise problem, but for what ever reason the speaker kicks out what the mic picks up, so I end up hearing my self more than any one that calls unless it is dead silent in the room, then I can hear the caller as long as I am not talking.
any tips on how to stop hearing myself?
same here im using ROMeOS conFUZEd edition...
Just to add that the problem happens for me with the PROven 1.08 and LantisOS RC 1 ROMs.
I've modified AudioPara3.csv and turned the gain and tx volume way down. It seems to be ok for me, but I haven't done extensive testing yet. Please backup your copy before overwriting it. Copy to your \Windows directory using Total Commander. Let me know what you guys think.
Yeah a lot of people said they can hear everything when I talk to them. Both on my Raphael and my old Hermes. Its just the mics that HTC uses are really good. Maybe not good for phone usage but really good quality and can pick up all sounds.
I ended up getting a Bluetooth with Noise Reduction, everyone is much happier now.
Same here
I've been going crazy looking for a solution for this problem, I was in a restaurant the other day with very soft music and I got a call and the person on the other end said that it was SO loud she thought I was in a night club (I wish I was but I wasn't).
I'm gonna try the AudioPara3 and see what happens.
If anyone has found the perfect solution to this, please post it. Thanks.
Backgrounds too loud
Just installed and the problem seems to be corrected, will try a couple more days.....
I have this problem and have tried a couple of the posted audiopara files - no such luck with this issue?
Any progress on dialing in this microphone setting?
thanks!

Silly question, but did you reboot your phone after you copied the file?
Yup. I occasionally get people telling me I sound like I'm in the middle of the sea with waves and stuff. When I end the call then redial, the problem is usually gone. Happens maybe once a week. I'm a fairly heavy user - the phone that is. Well not just the phone. Erm, can we not go there thank you?
Raph Elite Project RC3. When I've tried audiopara, I lose almost all volume from the speaker so I uninstalled and hard resetted.

I think the phone is using the speakerphone microphone

I have searched high and low and if I missed the answer to this, you guys can feel free to flame away.
I frequently get the complaint that it sounds like I am in a club or something on my end during a call. After a little experimenting, I believe the phone is using the speakerphone mic during a regular call and I have no idea why. I can move the phone as far away as I can reach and the person on the other end says the volume of my voice doesnt change. It doesnt always do it but when it does, it seems to require a reset to stop it. Speakerphone isnt turned on and I am still hearing through the earpiece so I cant understand how in the world the phone wouldnt be utilizing the mouthpiece.
It did this with the stock ATT ROM and does it with NATF v4.4 too.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Should I swap my phone? Thanks for the help guys.
im 99% sure there is no such thing as a speakerphone mic
If there is no speakerphone mic then how does the phone pick up sounds so differently during speakerphone mode? Ultimately, even if there isnt a dedicated mic for speakerphone, the phone is apparently utilizing the "speakerphone method" of picking up sound from my end so i guess consider my question rephrased.
How does using a headset effect the transmitted sound? Perhaps the built in mic is defective.
It seems stupid but I havent actually thought to try that yet. The next time it does this, which will probably be sometime today, I will give it a shot and see how it reacts.
I mean, does anyone know for sure if the speakerphone utilizes the mouthpiece as it's mic? The mic is clearly treated differently during a speakerphone call but I dont know for sure by what method.
This is a very frustrating issue.
Could this have something to do with the setting (in system tab) 'Microphone AGC'? ..I know it says it effects the microphone during recording, but could be worth a shot..
I just checked that setting and it is disabled so I guess AGC isnt the culprit.
I could have sworn I read about this happening somewhere else on these forums but I couldnt find it for the of me.

"Speaker on" problems?

is there any evidence that conducting a phone conversation through loudspeaker in Captivate is problematic? I'm using the device for couple weeks so far and people are already complaining that they have problems hearing me when I turn the loudspeaker on. It almost feels like that mode is not exactly full duplex, and my voice is being cut off right when the other part starts speaking. Or perhaps it is a problem with noise suppression system?
I remember having problem similar to this one with my old Kaiser when I just bought it, but it the software fix has appeared quickly and was included in all custom roms.
I could not find any mention of this problem in the forums, perhaps it is just me device?
None for me. I use speaker phone for almost all my calls. When in the car I have it plugged into the aux input to talk. When I first got the even tested with stereo turned pretty loud and wife reported no problems.
Might be just yours, sorry man.
From a phone on an app
You might check to make sure Noise Suppression is checked.

Odd audio issue (Volume, mic gain, etc)

Hi folks! First off absolutely outstanding work on the ROMs going around in here. Your work has made my Inspire go from mild to wild BUT...
BACKGROUND: The issue I am experiencing I have done extensive work to try and diagnose down to a particular issue. All the testing done here was done between different ROMs and kernels and to ensure accuracy all data was wiped (boot, system, data, cache, dalvik,) and roms were installed exactly the way they were released with their packaged kernels intact.
ISSUE: I have great clear audio with the current ROM im using (Core 3.2, 26.05.05.27 M3 radio, leedroid 2.6.32.30 kernel 2.2.4) but dispite the excellent audio I swear that I can hear the input from the mic at the bottom reproducing sound in the ear peice. The best way i can describe it is to say the mic gain is WAY too high and that its pushing any sounds from the mic to the earpiece. Some callers report hearing an echo. I can with 100% certainty confirm that CM7 does not produce this issue and I also believe AR3.0 doesnt cause this issue either. For lack of a better exacmple, I would say it sounds like if you had two phones, called the other one and accepted the call and held both phones up to your ears allowing the sound to "loop back" into the earpiece from the mic.
P.S. I also know that when this issue is present I also notice an increased amount of background hissing noise. Very faint and completely within acceptable limits, I can just tell there is more of it.
Call me crazy but I just wanted to bring this up incase anyone else sees this.
Thank you all and please continue youre incredible work wiht the ROMs here
please post in the appropriate rom thread, not start a new one...thread closed.
