http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542382

Hi!
Thank you for your answer but i have installed your application on my device sucessfully and now i cant start the programm because i cant see where the start icon is for that!
Is there a other way (registry tweak) to change the memory managment for Storage an Program memory manually?
thank you

Settings->Personal->Customize
It's not all depend on registry tweaking, you need to call some internal API to do this.

programs always close
Hi xaojin!
When I use this function, my apps always close when I switch to a second app.
What am I doing wrong
greets
Lui

Because they're Microsoft. That should be enough explanation. Actually, their explanation is that they consider it is more memory efficient to leave programs in memory and let windows allocate the memory itself.
^ what he said. Microsoft wants so much to demonstrate that these phones are perfectly capable of multitasking that someone on the higher end decided that all programs shall remain open.
Causes all types of problems if this is done for a prolonged period - Note to M$: you can't just port winDOS code to mobile and hope it works.
think old wm devices were slower for some of those mem loading tasks
and in general people were using the same applications again and again
in which case it was easier to minimize them
an application you start ONLY! use as much mem as it was written to use
so if it use 2MB it dont run any faster if you have a pda with 2GB
and if WM starts to get low on mem it itself will unallocate memory from programs which havent been access'd for awhile so the program which require the mem can have it
this is why you dont normaly get an outof mem error with alot of applications running

This has been proven to be patently false, I believe. WM2002 had out of memory errors. WM2003 won't allow anymore programs to run, and WM5 just hangs. Apparently M$ has a very, um, questionable definition about which program "hasn't been in use for awhile".
me too experienced out of mem errors repeatedly, usually it's enough to exit internet explorer which i use from time to time (it starts faster then opera and minimo)
Read this: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/10/05/The-Emperor-Has-No-Close.aspx
the only microsoft application i've seen that actually closed and that had 'exit' option was comm manager i used for about a year. yesterday i changed rom (from 1.6.2.4 to T-Mobile 2.26 ROM) and i see that this mistake is corrected - the new comm manager present in this rom also has exit button, but as well as 'x' button it only minimises it. way to go M$! ;]

Do you have a Memory card?
If so, this might be usefull... You can use your Phone as memory stick.
So, you just launch it and activate it and connect to your PC using USB.
Then ActiveSync won't launch..but, you'll have a drive mapped to your Memory Card.
This is also usefull if you want to transfer data to a PC that doesn't have active sync.. or just don't want to sync.
Just try it..
Note: I noticed that it doesn't work all the time.. so, if your the cook made it work then it works but if it doesn't it doesn't.. I guess
yeaah it really works..so I can sell my cardreader?..is that so fast as cardreader or works that slowly??..and some other questions...
1) i have NBD v8.0 and on my left softkey i have activesync instead Touchflo..how i can get back touchlfo?? in softkey in setting touchlfo is missing
2)how i can use bluetooth remote sim acces to acces to sim of other mobile phone??
3)how can i hide sim contacts?
Let me try to answer your questions:
1) You can either do reg edit or so this... this is what I did.. create a shortcut of the ApLauncher from /Windows/ directory and save it to /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/ or some where there... then now go back into the softkey setting and it'll be there... oh, if you might want to just rename that short cut to TouchFlo to display 'TouchFlow' on your left softkey... BTW, I used TotalCommander to do this.
2) I don't know.. haven't tried this before... I don't save anything on my sim...sorry.
3) Red edit: goto HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
Key: ShowSim (dWord)
Value: 0 = hide & 1 = show
I hope that helps you enjoy NBD more.. this is the least I can do for Zoki for developing such a great ROM...and everyone else who contributes to this awesome forum!!

Help with autokilling of app

Hello to everyone,
I have some problem with my wizard. App are autokilling ( i.e coreplayer, audio manager, wmp or etc ).
I have a another device thats HTC Hermes and there is no problem like this.
When I will be playing songs in background with some other app run in my HTC Hermes which has only 2 mb RAM free but still the audio manager will be playing and will not autokill. But in my wizard there is more than 10 mb free and audio manager will be autokilled if I run any other app.
I have also disabled the "enableautokill" option in registry thats for task manager. But still I have the app are killing. I also tried uninstalling task manager but no luck....
Can any one plz help.....
Thanks in advance
I do struggle wie the same issue. I can't run two or more apps alongside either.

I have the same issue here too. My MWg Zinc II shutdown applications running at the background on it's own where there's less than about 10MB RAM memory available. My MWg Zinc II comes with only slightly more than 30MB of RAM for use out of the box.
Some tips over here:
1. go to “Settings” > “System” and click on “Error Reporting”. Make sure its disabled (we don’t need that service).
2. go to “Windows” > “Start Up” folder, and check how many things You have there, see what really needs to start up with the OS, and delete others
3. softwares
Oxios Memory, it’s a freeware tool that attempts to release as much memory as possible without damaging the internal state of the Windows Mobile device (Pocket PC or Smartphone). Oxios CloseApps closes down other applications by sending “Close” messages. Oxios Memory have two options:
Oxios Hibernate 1.40
WM_HIBERNATE is a window message that is generated by the Windows operating system and sent to an application when system resources are running low. All applications should get the message and handle it by attempting to release as many resources as possible by unloading processes, destroying windows, or freeing up as much local storage as possible without damaging the internal state of the system. Oxios Hibernate sends WM_HIBERNATE to all applications:
Oxios CloseApps 1.40
Each process started on a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone allocates memory, which cannot be released but is automatically freed when the application process ends.
Oxios CloseApps closes down all applications by sending WM_CLOSE messages.
SKTools (It’s not freeware)
Second tool that we can use, it’s a very powerfull utility program for Windows Mobile with many functions, but today we will take a look at the option called “FreeUP RAM”.
This option can free up 50K-2M of RAM, send hibernation message, compact heaps, limitate the “memory low” situation, close tasks and also a scheduler for silent background start.
I currently use ES Task manger on Android.
is there any other way to automatically kill background processes?
Kind Regards
i do not recommend auto killer, try manually

most roms have a utility that will allow network settings to be automatically retreived
settings will have to be done from scratch
look for a program called pimbackup to save numbers
and
you can do a search for compatible keyboard aound the internet
but how to know that it is compatibil, das it depand on wm6.1 or diamond by akeo, or ...what?
this phone is too smart or i am too stupid
yopu read all of the thread this will give you possible compatability issues

is there anyway to increase programs launching speed?

is there anyway to increase programs launching speed?
i ask this because every time i open up a program on my windows phone, it takes about 2 to 3 secs to load up something (there is just a rotating wait cursor), and the program appears then.
both my omnia ii and hd2 are suffering this problem.
i am wondering if the launching program speed could be increased by doing something? say changing some registry or increasing papepool size?
thanks!
You could use a task manager to see if your memory is not taken by some other process, you can also use overclocking, but don't forget that some programs need to cache or load database before starting.
Quite a lot of things can slow the launch down. Does it the program live in main memory or on a storage card? If it is the latter it has to be read out of the card into main memory before it can be launched.
If the application was written in .NET CF, VB C# etc., and especially if the application is quite large, there is a hit in performance while the JIT compiler converts the IL instructions in the executable to native ARM code in order to able to run it.
If the .NET executable is on a storage card then the delays above get combined.
I think cook rom with 12M pagepool would be good enough. I current running 6.5 with with config running like cham~

Open the program then go to the today screen. Open task manager and add the running program to the exclusive list. Now each time it is opened you should notice less lag. More ram will be in use however.
