HELP: No 3G/EDGE After Rooting (MYTOUCH 3G) - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I need help guys! After rooting "1 click root from cyanogen" and flashing Evil's 2.7x 32B HERO ROM, I have no 3G/EDGE network. I'm able to make calls, receive texts, etc but no data whatsoever. I checked my sim on the PRO2 and 3G/EDGE is active. Any help would be appreciative!

Move this post.
But, for the record...since Evil has now decided to base his ROM on the Modaco 2.73 build. The dump from Modaco is WWE, so it's not going to have the APN settings for USA standards.
You need to manually set your APN settings to your service provider.
EXAMPLE:
APN name: T-Mobile USA
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
You're welcome.

could be your apn settings are wrong after flashing. go to settings-->wireless controls-->mobile network settings--> access point names, and tell me what the settings are for the apn
EDIT-beat me to it reignzone =)

Hey guys! That was the weird thing about it. The phone downloaded all of the TMOBILE settings yet nothing! However I resolved it. Using Cyanogen menu, I wiped/formatted everything and reinstall Evil's 2.7x. Miraculously I saw my EDGE then 3G! I should've try for the fourth time instead of cluttering up the forum

just a FYI - the mms issue isn't a CM7 specific issue, it's affected every AOSP build we have out (including all the original ones that were developed by the fascinate guys)
Please do let us know how you fair, we've all started by loading the correct APN but there is far more to it than that - I'll point you here for reference on what could be the cause -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12806384&postcount=773
Once we loaded the correct server info into the APN, it was trying to connect to the server but giving an error about WAP not being enabled - that's as far as we got with it.
And by the way, for future reference - only development topics should be posted here - this should have gone in general.

Okay thanks for the info I was looking through some of the settings and noticed that the user settings for the server is setting to the verizon network yet it needs to be on the uscc.net network. i tried to change it but it changes the setting back to verizon.

MMS doesn't work at all for any AOSP rom so sometimes we don't bother messing with APNs config when we port.
I've had plenty of APN problems while roaming with my US Cell phone. In April in December I traveled to Dallas, was in a building I couldn't get signal and when I came out the phone said "No APN Configured" - Once I landed in Milwaukee and powered on my phone again it worked just fine. Same thing happened again last week when I was out in a rural area.
I've grabbed APN Manager from the apps store and backed up my settings to restore them if this occurs again. I might get a chance to try that out this weekend since i'll be up in the middle of nowhere once again.
I can't recall exactly what I was running before but now i'm on the EC10 Heinz 57.

I need the APNS settings dump from the system/ect/apns-conf.xml from the original rom for USCC if you have any by chance. im going to set the apns settings back to all USCC but i need the original file to do so
Check out GO SMS. it has some mms options, you might be able to tweak them.

[Q] T-Mobile USA Data APN Settings for Sensation?

After changing ROMS, I've noticed my data speeds have slowed down quite a bit and I am doing a little troubleshooting to try and figure out the problem. I'm still on the stock radio. Would someone be kind enough to post what the default data APN settings loaded on the Sensation are for T-Mobile USA? Thanks!

So, I'm flashing a bunch of different apps trying to figure this thing out. I loaded the latest MIUIJB and still my mobile data was jumping in and out, quickly.
In the APN settings, I noticed my "Type" was different than the above. My "Type" just said "default, supl, mms" When I added "admin, dun, hipri" it connected. Maybe coincidence? Dunno. Now I'm flashing back to Bruce's CM10 (9/28). Will check then...hopefully it'll be the fix for my specific situation (yes, I'm dreaming...).
UPDATE: Installed Bruce's CM10 (9/28) and mobile data is still working...APN "type" is listed as "default, supl, mms" only.

It's probably a coincidence.
I will tell you that I've had the data problem with the Type set at default, supl, admin, hipri, mms
The only thing different in this version is adding 'dun'. I just did that too for kicks because I'm curious about any possible fix. But I'd bet that it's either just a coincidence that the data just started working for you after that or what really fixed it was that you messed with the APN settings at all which forced the connection with the tower to reset. I've had that same issue where I've messed with APN settings and data mysteriously started working again too.
But keep testing data for 10-14 days and see if you get the instability again. I will too. If we don't then the 'dun' setting is the key.
I don't think we'll find that's the ultimate sollution thought.

Did adding "dun" seem to help you at all?
My data was working perfectly fine when I re-flashed 9/28 (and it only had "default, supl, mms") but then I got greedy and flashed 10/1. Data is back on the fritz...

My data wasn't broken at the time I added the 'dun'. So I have no idea if it helped or not. I try to save these 'fixes' until my data breaks to see if any show immediate results but I didn't this time.
Flashing the new build has triggered the break fro me in the past, but it comes back within a few hours.
What shouldn't happen when you flash an update (if you don't do a full wipe) is changes to your APN settings. Whatever changes you made on 9/28 should still be there on 10/1

I keep a nandroid backup of Hyper NonSense ready to be restored on my SD Card for emergancies.
It won't have my latest text messages or anything but I can flash to it and have working mobile data in 3 minutes in an emergancy. And it only costs me 1GB of SD card space.
If you take the time to set that up once, you don't have to worry about flashing a fresh install of a Sense ROM and setting up your accounts and apps later.

Phone does not get data signal

Hi, last night I installed that odin ICS leak, and my phone does not get data connection. I have a good amount of bars, and it says network type HSPA, but I dont get the 4g / lte icons. There is no IP address, and no data coming in at all.
I checked the APN settings, and its empty.
What APN should I add to make my data work?
Same, we may just need to try a reflash though..

To answer my own post I found this online
Name: attwap (name it whatever you want)
APN: wap.cingular
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Seems to work.
I dont have LTE at my house, but at work tonight I get LTE so ill check if it works.
So far works great for regular HSPA though
EDIT: Posted right before that burgeswe post that link. Ill try that also.
Derp. I should have tried that in the first place.
You might just try going into the APN's screen, and hitting menu - reset to default.
Not sure about the ICS settings because I've been on call since the leak, but in theory it should work

Working APN settings for t-mobile g2x on straight talk given sim ??

Please Help.
I want to use an unlocked t-mobile branded lg g2x on the straight talk network
The APN settings supplied by the straight web site do not work for mms or internet,
If you have the APN settings that work for mms and internet please post them with confirmation that they work.
Thank you very much
Did you get any settings to work?
I want to pull the trigger on this, but not sure if it works (had some issues with the Simple Mobile APN settings on my phone).
Let me know.
Yes ! Please post these settings! I have had my g2x for about a month now with no sms/data at all! It is very frustrating I have tried many apns and cannot find one that works.. .
I got my g2x to work with straightalk last night but only phone and text. No data. Used my sim from my nokia e71. Type in att.mvno in the apn config screen. Trying to come up with the next step to get data.
Working settings for Lg G2x straighttalk
Name: whatever_you_want_the_name_to_be

Password:
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com

EDIT: not sure what MCC and MNC stand for, or what the settings should be, but try leaving the 310, 410 settings in place, if it doesnt work, try leaving them blank.
Here are my settings:
Name
HOME
APN
att.mvno
Leave everything else alone EXCEPT the bottom selection that says:
APN type (here you must enter the following)
default,supl
Then save, next choose to add another APN
make it look like this:
Name
MMS
APN
att.mvno
skip down to
MMSC
http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy
proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
MMS port
80
skip to:
APN type (enter the following)
mms
THEN SAVE
You will see that only one APN has the option to be chosen, that is ok, Just choose the one that is able to be chosen.
Now go back to Homescreen and then reboot your phone.
This works for me, hope it can help you. I tried a hundred different ways and this was it. Capitalization is important, and the APN type was the trick.
GOOD LUCK and let me know if it worked for you.
them settings did not work for me. is there any other settings i can use?
working APN
If you are on stock rom then the normal straight talk settings work. Although you will have to download APN manager from the market to delete the T-Mobile apn or else your system will automatically switch to it occasionally which will drop data.
If you are on a custom rom (MIUI, ICS, etc.):
1. Open apn settings
2. Open the T-Mobile apn
DO NOT ERASE OR CHANGE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE FOLLOWING
3. Change APN to wap.tracfone
4. Change Port to 8080
5. Change MMSC to http://mms.tracfone.com
6. Erase anything typed in the "APN type" field
7. Save
8. Delete any other APNs.
If you already deleted the T-Mobile apn on a custom rom you'll have to reinstall the rom or ask the developer what the apn settings were.
This has always worked for me. Hope it helps.
^^^^ That is the correct solution.
Thank you c1c2doc that worked perfectly!
The latest CM 7.2 has the StraightTalk APN information pre-populated as an option along with Simple. You can also get the T-Mobile SIM card from StraightTalk as well now so you don't have to unlock the phone. Has anyone tried these yet?

How did you figure this out???

I just got my Straighttalk T-mobile SIM up and running. I did not have to unlock my T-mobile GS2, plug-n-play. Took about a day to port my number over, entered the APN settings on the website. Getting data speeds the same as T-mobile, MMS worked the first time. So far, no complaints. I read on another forum that autopay eliminates fees and taxes. We will see.

No LTE in an LTE area (CleanROM 5)

Is there a specific APN I need to use? I have a LTE microSIM as well, so nothing has changed aside from the ROM change.
I am unsure why I cannot connect to LTE, I know this phone was able to do it before on the stock rom...
I am currently on the Rogers network.

Make sure you are using the correct apn for the carrier you are on, and also check to see if LTE is toggled off.

I tried searching but could not find the 'right' APN as I am unsure what is right and wrong. All I know is that I am able to get HSPA+ but no LTE... Could you please advise? Also, in the network settings it is currently GSM/HSPA/LTE (to that variant).
Currently on the Rogers network.
Checked for LTE APN and currently used this, no luck:
Name: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
User Name: not set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302

APN Type: *
Problem resolved, I guess I just had to reset + let Rogers register my SIM or something.
Can you tell me which "baseband" you have installed? It is in the Settings, About, Software Information, More screen. I'm having the exact same issue (no LTE) on Rogers and have that exact same APN. I'm wondering if I flash a certain radio if it will fix it. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It might just be your area in KW.
I have the latest 2.41 radio from O2 but that should not matter as I previously had 1.94 (Rogers) radio as well.

Thanks for the info. We definitely do have LTE coverage here in the KW area. I ran the RUU to test it out and I indeed got LTE coverage. So far I'm stuck on HSPA if I run any custom ROM, but it is really not all that bad. Thanks again. Some day I will figure out how to unlock LRE on my phone!

any one help?? please.. i took my phone to someone who rooted my phone and updated to the lates 4.0.4 im on Rogers wirless and filled the APN settings and im only getting H or 3G and not getting LTE anymore.. can anyone help?? im running clean rom
You need to get the rogers APN for lte and put it in on your settings. I'm on fido and sometimes it takes a few minutes for it to connect to LTE. Here's the settings you can try
APN - ltemobile.apn
Proxy - <not set>
Port - <not set>
Username- <Not set>
Passwors - <not set>
Server < not set>
MMSC - http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS - proxy 10.128.1.69
MMS - Port 80
MMS protocol - Wap 2.0
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
If the above doesn't work try this:
Go into system tuner or ROM manager, backup then edit this build.prop:
ro.telephony.default_network
Change the number to 10 or 11 (that's what worked for me)
Save it and reboot.
Let me know if this works. I'm trying to get some momentum going on this as it seems to be a common problem in my area
