[APP][18-09-2009] SetSIP 1.1 - Change the SIP from a shortcut - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

SetSIP 1.1
Changing SIP (software keyboard) type is both cumbersome (that small finger unfriendly arrow near the SIP icon) and slow (the selection menu does not popup for a noticeable time). Worse on Topaz (Diamond 2) the menu has 2 levels: one for select between Touch Input full QWERTY and Phone Keypad and one for select other SIP types.
SetSIP allow to change the SIP, including the two Touch Input layouts from a shortcut.
Requirements and compatibility
SetSIP was developed for HTC Topaz (Diamond 2) with WM6.1 and requires Compact Framework 2 or above. It should work on many other phones but the test is up to you. Touch Input layouts selection make sense only on phones with Touch Input / EzInput.
Install
Run SetSIP.cab and install in main memory.
Uninstall
Use Remove Programs in Settings.
Shortcuts creation
Installation copies two files in your phone, SetSIP.exe and SetSIPShortcut.exe and adds a shortcut named "SetSIP Create Shortcuts" to Programs. SetSIP.exe is the actual utility that changes the SIP as specified by command line parameters inside shortcuts. Creating the shortcuts manually is possible but cumbersome (see ReadMe.txt for details). Therefore, the SetSIPShortcut.exe utility scans your phone for all the installed SIPs and creates shortcuts for all of them. For Touch Input / EzInput SIP it creates shortcuts for all the layouts.
To create the shortcuts go to Programs and tap "SetSIP Create Shortcuts". After a while a popup dialog will inform you of the program termination and of the name of the directory where the created shortcuts are.

Thanks for the app Oruam. Very useful. I'm surprised there aren't more posts here as I would have thought this was useful to more people.

Oh well, browsing the forum the relation between application usefulness and success appears misterious indeed
At any rate, the small applications I coded it was only because I could not find a ready made solution to a problem I had (It's not my job and I'm lazy after all ). After that, sharing them with anyother who could have perceived the same problem seemed rational.

Worked for me with Sprint MR1 ROM and 6.5
Thanks for posting these SIP shortcuts. Your shortcuts worked for me after installing the Sprint MR1 ROM update which includes Windows Mobile 6.5. One suggested improvement is to permit removal of the shortcut creation icon after it initially runs.
To make it faster and easier to switch SIP modes, I used Tarkim's Keyboard Config tool to launch the Block Recognizer SIP shortcut. I mapped it as a double-click on the back button. Then I can use the built in HTC input to switch back to QWERTY mode if I need it.
I also called to complain to Sprint and they in turn contacted HTC while I was on the telephone. Someone named Beth at HTC confirmed that these recognizers were left out of the updated Touch Input modules on purpose and that they not disclose that this was part of the upgrade. [email protected]#!#[email protected]@!. Nice way that have of saying thanks to their customers who purchased one of the most expensive phones on the market.

Work for me also. Currently running a HTC TP2 with Energy ROM Version Energy.RHODIUM.21898.Sense2.5.Apr.09 for anyone else who is out there browsing the forum.
Copied the Letter Recognizer shortcut from \Program Files\SetSIP folder into the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder, after installing the CAB and tapping the Set SIP Shortcuts.
From now on it's one click and good to go.
Thanks a lot oruam57

Thank you very much! This excellent app works on my HTC Artemis P3300 O2 xda Orbit running Harrycaine's WM6.5. I was stuck with default Ezinput 2.1 but your app allows me to switch keyboards very easily. Cheers

Interest Check:roms

Hi
wondering how many people in here would like custom roms?!
if you provide for me the CAB files, i will customise for you windows mobile 6.
i have loads of time on my hands and nothing much to do, so would like to get a bit more acquainted with building roms!
Hello Duke_Stix
Firstly, thanks a ton for all your wonderful work with WM6. I would be very much interested in a custom ROM. Are you also looking into releasing an updated ROM with all the fixes that have been found since the last release ? Thanks.
up until the point i can release a fully working kitchen, i will be working with the most stable build.
at the moment my rom cooking skills allow me to add programs into the rom so they are there at boot.
give me a list of software you would like and i'll get to cooking something up and sending it to you for testing!

Hi Duke_Stix
It would be great if you could cook a ROM which included the following:
1) QTEK WM5 Splash screen instead of the current green gradient splash screen (Attached cab)
2) MMS Software
3) HTC Camera Software
4) xT9 for English
5) Java midlets
6) VOIP support
7) HTC Taskmanager
8) TCPMP Media player (Attached cab)
9) QTEK 8300 button fix (music buttons)
10) HTC Comm manager (Attached cab)
11) PHM Registry Editor (Which is in teh HTC folder in the ROM)
Also, could you application unlock it within the ROM ? App lock is such a nusance.
You can send me the ROM and I can test it and let you know if it has any bugs or not. Thanks very much !!
Hi,
What i prefer is to (and think that most of user will appreciate):
remove
1) voice command - for non english speaking useless
2) htc debug - who will use this except PHMRegistry
add
1) MMS support
2) Jeodek or Intent Java Midlet (i would prefer Jeodek)
3) HTC Camera 4.0
4) Sim Toolkit
5) CommManager
6) xT9
no need to have more app in rom everything else is in cabs so everybody can choose
thanks
custom wm6
ok duke_stix, since you said you have a LOT of free time, i would like to ask you to make me a custom rom, please...
i would like it to have:
- MMS Client
- a T-Mobile splash screen, or just a HTC
- HTC camera
- Java Midlets
- WM5torage
- a good overclocking program
- updated HTC commManager
- HTC task manager
- to change home page in internet explorer with Google one
- have the T-mobile internet settings built in
- xT9 in English
- sp5m button fix
- ip manager would be good
and all feature that Phil added by cab in his rom!
Regard... and TNX!!!
if you can upload it to rapidshare or smt and then send me a pm, or just post it so other t-mobile sda people could have it if they wanted
thanks a bunch!!!
Hi duke_stix,
Can you make something like the Prophet Rom Kitchen, where everyone would easily play with the ROM. Or would it be to much effort to put it that way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309057
Thanks in forward
HI
The only thing i would like to see preinstalled are the Jeodek java (the Intent jvm sucks!), english XT9 and italian XT9 cabs... may be you can split the huge xT9 languages cab into 2 or 3 sub-cabs that clutter less your phone with langauges you'll never use?
And, yeah, for splash screen:
- plz replace that green fade with a splash screen (*) and remove the red text that pops up
- delete the third splash "Mobile Operator" or replace it with HTC's logo
- on shutdown, another splash screens with "mobile operator" (a bit different from the first) pops up.... can u delete it?
(*) I've made some "institutional" splash screens which I would like to submit to your attention... may be you can select one of them as the official one, to be included in every build?
link: http://dl.gemini.dynalias.net/root/wm06.zip
(If you want another text string added, maybe with your credits, it'd be no problem, just ask me)
i shall start working later on today when i can get to my computer. its not particularly fun to cook roms on my tiny 12" ibm!

when do you think is possible to flash my phone with this custom rom?
thank you for your work.. i'll put your name on my website like close to Phil like best cookers!
I fully agree with Davex:
remove
1) voice command - for non english speaking useless
2) htc debug - who will use this except PHMRegistry
add
1) MMS support
2) Jeodek or Intent Java Midlet (i would prefer Jeodek)
3) HTC Camera 4.0
4) Sim Toolkit
5) CommManager
6) xT9 (in my case English, German and Polish)
and
7) include Fring (available fromhttp://www.fring.com/wifi_download/getit.php?file=cab or http://www.divshare.com/download/1323047-1da)
8) include a cool skin of your choice (please, remember it should be pretty and functional )
9) make the ring tone sounds louder than usual. I do not know why but both Swiss and British ROMs have loud ring tone and both Qtek and i-mate very quiet so I miss a lot of calls What is interesting, the rest of sound signals are equally loud, so the bug (feature??) touches only non-Orange phones.
10) include Japanese railway station melodies http://www.divshare.com/download/1323244-688 also available from http://www.japan-railways.com/musice.htm ) believe or not but most of them are made by the best Japanese composers who had to make melodies which are simple, sound nice and are recognizable in noisy environments. The size of the midi files archive is very small - a bunch of melodies equal to 9 kilobytes only!
Thank you in advance!
Why do you want the crappy and slow HTC Comm Manager??
Just place the shortcut to the Windows-provided ready-in-the-ROM one, wrlsmgr.exe, in a file named SHORT_POC.lnk (it could be wrong... memory is faltering)
My suggest
Is this a Wishlist?I want my Rom more "Vanilla" and with more free Ram, everything i want is as cab out there, i ve never send an MMS or reallly need JAVA (??ive got an Smartphone, there are no F***ing java app out there exept Mobilemule that is usefull like a SmartphoneApp),PocketOffice is cool, but i dont need them very often, and so on... but the Idea with an BIG-APP-CAB-PACK is nice, ...to put them on or off, like Accesoires, and install them on Storage Card!!! if possible...why?I want more space for Homescreen-Customizing,System-Customizing,...but be careful with apps like VoiceCommand...it is Payware for older phones with WM05...better customize TWO Roms..one Vanilla(a little bit more than the current one, please) and a "Original" (with all the Appps known from other Models like the Vox, and some more..)

*Updated 11/13/07 10:11 PM* BETA TESTERS NEEDED! Official 318 WM6

This Kitchen has built in AT&T customize on first install and on HR, if you don't need it just remove the OEMOPERATORS FOLDER from the OEM Folder.
This build contains SYS and ROM in "Part #1" and OEM packages in "Part #2"
This Kitchen is so complete I had to break into 2 parts. Download and extract both parts and put all files and folders into one directory to use.
I am not responsible if you don't know what you are doing and brick your phone, but in the spirit of XDA-Developers I am sure someone here willing to help!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Latest SYS and ROM (part1) Ver8.1.0
Latest OEM Packages (part2) Ver8.1.0
Version Information:
ALL "call home" issues have been castrated! No more Customer feedback.
SDHS Memory should be full supported now! Seems to have always been present in the Official MS Wizard ROM.
All Phone issues resolved! Use the proper radio for your carrier and phone.
Wifi Issues resolved! Automatically connect to preferred networks.
Connect to Internet Via Active Sync.
For Clarification:
1) This is the original InGeNeTiCs' ROM all I did in this Version is strip out the "call home" stuff, added a few dlls that were missing but were needed for some of the HTC/touch apps (these files can be found in sys/missing files).
2) There are two OEMOPERATORS folders, one in OEM and one in SYS the one in OEM is one I put there as a example of how you can add your own cab files for settings, splash screen or whatever it is you need simply edit the config.txt file and put whatever files in the files you need. *I am not going to to into great detail how to do this all it takes is a little common since. You can delete mine if you like.
3) There are no hidden, super secret, xda-elite only, make my Wizard fly, bull**** tweaks included. just a clean, won't leave a bad taste in your mouth unless you burn it, Kitchen.
4) My only reason for creating this kitchen is to prove that the "InGeNeTiCs'- Official Microsoft-Made Specifically for the Wizard-Drivers and all ROM" is as solid and stable as any other ROM or kitchen out there if done right. Other than all I did is create and add a lot of OEM packages so you could have choices in life.
The base is like Coca-Cola "Original".
Everything works as it should the only limitations are M$ related!
This has been a fun ride but the ride seems to have come to an end.
This release is so stable that I can not bear to call it a beta anymore.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all that have contributed to this project. In the end I'm sure we all wanted WM6 but we wanted a stable version that didn't crash, lock up, and just plain ol' worked!
Credits to the ones that made the tools to make this possible: faria, anichillus, bepe and mattk_r for asking me to take the plunge.
The testers, who without their reports this would not have been possible:

Working on the "TOUCH CAMERA"!
hi
can i bea beta tester can you send me the liknk to download
First Thoughts.....
This ROM looks to be more stable than the last one, and also I see that the reboot slowdown issue is non-existent.(It would slow down horribly on the 3rd-or-so reboot/SR) Overall, faster.
HTC AudioManager + Recorder are NOT working, but maybe that's just a package issue (I used one of my packages I had lying around). Pretty much that's it.
Wi-Fi is OK, nothing major. No phone issues as of yet.
I did not test the Home Plugin because I used my 6-tab plug. That works quite well.App Launching is a little bit faster, or maybe that would just be me
Word completion works,KB is fine (tested in Notes)
I would give it a 9.5/10 (only because of no Touch camera ,otherwise, it rocks!)
Thanks for your input!

Audio manager package that is in OEM that was included in this build is reworked for this kitchen and works fine. Recorder is in process still.
Do you know of a working 4. camera package or one in a pre-built Wizard ROM?
Do you have a Home Plugin OEM to incorporated?

This works with the included *cities.xml file. The PNGs are compressed to increase speed. Works fine. It's in color.
Got AM working (my mistake, used a wrong package) but VoiceRec is still offline. Not that I use it all that much.
I think I have a bug : you need to have WMP installed to get AM working.
EDIT: New package with "Pro" icons added.

Remove clock and put battery indicator on top instead (if you press & hold it will bring up power/battery tab).
Add day and date to touch home plug-in you can change it to display as you like:
dddd will give you day of week as a word as in "Thursday", dd will give you date style (numeric day of the month) as in "30" without quotes of course.
The same is true for month mmmm and year yyyy so experiment!

Know I know this is telling me that a previous package has used this dll flile, what I can't find is which one it is!

edit; NOob error... left both touchflo and non-touchflo enabled in the build... fixed.
Have you built with the NON-TouchFlo dll selected?

That's what's in my current build. Nothing major to report of.
1st flash test report
Ok,
So I got the build to run with Merlin's help (thank you Sir). Flashed back to T-Mobile 2.26, up to IPL/SPL 3.08 and GSM 2.69.11 then the kitchen build.
First the good news:
1. For the first time in a dozen or so ROMs I have flashed Voice Command workes flawlessly! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!
2. Basic functions work good, no glaring errors.
3. As theloon noted, the backlight controls will not lock the wizard.
The bad news:
1. If I attempt to launch any CAB file (including the 2.69 radio fix) I get a message saying "CAB failed to load"
2. see #3 above, it doesnt lock the wizard, it however will not open backlight control either. recommend taking this out of the launcher and just leave it in the settings page.
3. HTC Audio manager, if I attempt to open any audio file I immediatly get a message saying "critically low on system memory..." WMP still works fine.
4. The dastardly weather application doenst like the XML file i built for it. I wish there was a way to test that without building. (see questions below)
5. I used merlin's 6 button HTC home plug in, looks very nice BTW, couldnt do much testing on it since my contacts DB is at work. My only negative on this one, the musical note icon (far right) is very hard to see. I dont know who did the icon art but perhaps we could find a better icon?
6. I tried loading the AT&T extended ROM as part of this build, bad idea. The flash gets to 5% and crashes... took it out, flashes fine.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to test the weather XML file without building it into the ROM? IE: If i build the the ROM with the weather XML file included in the build I can only edit it. I cant delete, replace etc. So I was thinking that if I took it out of the build and put the file in after, maybe I could speed up testing.
2. Several of the packages dont seem to have any output, IE: the WMP home plug in, I dont see anything on the home screen that relates to WMP?
So there it is, I have to re-flash to a fully working ROM before I go to work tomorrow. I will be on line all day (from my office) so post away..
thanks Loon for letting me test this, great fun!

LOL? I think not dear Senior Member... I have tried every possible way to delete that file, stop the plug included. The file properties say "included in ROM" and will not allow changes to file prop. Thats why I asked about building without it, so the file properties would allow changes.

What I can deduce from your observations all/most of your "hanging" problems seem to stem from the final size when you build your ROM.
I have experienced this myself, the max size for a wizard rom is around 56 MB for the ROM, but that does not include Boot loaders, Radio and Extended ROM.
In my case my phone is locked so the "customize" just uses storage/program space and does some reg tweaks.
If you want more space in your build you can use the compression tools located elsewhere in this forum.
As for the Home Plug weather XML make sure it's attributes are not set to "read only" and you should be able to exchange them at will and SR to test there usability.
My HTC Audio Manager works flawlessly not sure what you did! be careful using other OEM packages, the ones I included in this beta were designed and tested to work with this beta.
FYI HTC Audio Manager was built using Windows Media SDK so it uses components of WMP (dlls and such), I will probably move those components to different directories.
Backlight is a matter of a redirect/link.
Feel free to fix any/all issues and post for everyone to test!!!

[REF]Replace Biotouch (HTC Cube), save 5Mb of memory and gain functionality

Hey peeps,
Here's a nice way of saving about 5 megs of memory without loosing functionality, and gaining much more configuration freedom to your hearts content.
The HTC Touch has a service running in the background that controls finger-friendly kinetic scrolling and launches the Cube when you swipe up from the bottom. The biggest memory hogger of this process is the Cube itself that once it's launched stays in memory and eats about 5 megs of precious RAM.
Stopping the Cube from launching is easy enough but you will also loose functionality this way that you may not want to do without so I was looking for some alternatives.
Alternative 1:
I tried fTouchFlo (available on this forum somewhere), a gestures based application launcher, but found it takes up about 1.2 megs of RAM just for the launcher (you won't use the fTouchFlo scrolling on a Touch) and does not react entirely the way I want it to, ie. I only want it to detect gestures when I start swiping away from a screen edge, not when the swipe starts in the middle of the screen. I also have not found a way to completely remove the service that controls the Cube launch (think this would also kill finger scrolling) so fTouchFlo just eats more RAM then I would like it to on a HTC Touch that has the basic gesture functionality built-in already anyway.
Alternative 2:
I also looked long and hard for a finger friendly task manager but to no avail, until I discovered MortButtons. Not only does this tool contain the only finger-friendly task manager around, it's main features also allows it to be an excellent and easy to configure Cube alternative. Combine this with the default gesture based Cube launcher in the HTC Touch and you save a big chunk of RAM without loosing functionality!
So here's how it goes:
Download VJBrisk from
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis
GSFinder (may also work with TotalCommander but I haven't tried) from
http://www.google.de/search?q=gsfinder
MortButtons from
http://www.sto-helit.de/
Install the tools:
- Install GSFinder (you could also use TotalCommander if you prefer)
- Install MortButtons and play a bit with the options and configuration
For the next steps I will assume that you have made yourself familiar with the above tools already. These steps described are for Windows Mobile 6 and above, yet they may also work for WM5 (here the Biotouch startup link is located in \Windows\Startup if I am not mistaken):
- Using GSFinder go into the View|Options... menu, uncheck all checkboxes in the Hide section
- Browse to \Windows and find LaunchStartupApp.lst (could also be called StartupApp on some OS versions), copy this in some other folder and open it on your desktop PC in notepad. My version looks like this:
Code:
#\Windows\WiFiInit.exe#
#\windows\startkey.exe#
#\Windows\StartUPBioTouch.exe#
Delete the line with StartUPBioTouch.exe and save, then copy back to your Touch
(Note: I deleted all entries and copied back an empty file, am not missing anthing, WiFi, BT, GPRS, ActiveSync all still works and saved even some extra memory)
- Using GSFinder, copy your new LaunchStartupApp.lst and paste it into \Windows, you will be asked to confirm to overwrite, do so
- Restart your Touch, it will now start without the Cube in memory, DO NOT use the Cube until you finish all steps described here
- Use GSFinder to show the properties of \Windows\Biotouch.exe, remove the read only check
- Create a shortcut to \Program Files\MortButtons\MBRunner.exe (or wherever you installed it) and rename it to VJTarget.lnk
- Edit the shortcut (with GSFinder or use notepad on your computer) and change it as such:
Code:
41#"\Program Files\MortButtons\MBRunner.exe" "\Program Files\MortButtons\Button1.mbi"
- Run the shortcut by clicking on it, Mortbuttons should start, if it didn't than you need to double-check the shortcut and make sure it points to MBRunner.exe and has the correct path to Button1.mbi
- Put the shortcut into \Windows
- Now, using GSFinder, browse to where you have stored VJBrisk.exe, rename it to Biotouch.exe and copy and past it into \Windows, you will be asked to overwrite, choose Yes.
That's it. Now, swipe up, like you would when starting the Cube et voila, instead of the Cube you now get Mortbuttons, fully configurable with loads of animations and gesture shortcuts to choose from.
I have shortcuts on my home screen for most of the applications the Cube has (Internet, Music, Photos, Communication etc) so I never really needed the Cube except for the quick-dial contacts page and communications manager. So, I have set up MortButtons to show a list of contacts with pictures (this is just as easy to configure with MB as with the Cube quick-dial) on Button1.mbi, then when I swipe to the left it switches to TaskList.mbi (fantastic finger-friendly big button task manager included with MB). I've set up the gestures to exit MB when I swipe down, just like the Cube does. MB is fully skinnable even allows a transparent background, can do transition animations between the panels etc. Up to 5 button pages + task manager can be configured by default but you can always add more.
Have fun with this!
Cheers and special thanks to Mort for MB!
Sndance
Ps: the more pages you have in MB, the more memory it will take up, 2 pages eats up about 500kb (the Cube used almost 6 Megs remember ) but you can also set it so it does not stay in memory after closing (MortButtons, not the Cube).
PPS: attached MortButtons (check Morts site for newer releases), GSFinder, and all files to copy into \Windows (includes VJBrisk already renamed to Biotouch, a shortcut to MB installed on the device - not storage card - and an empty LaunchStartupApp.lst)
PPS: screenshots attached, if you are wondering what is on my Today screen: Ultimate Launch (www.ultimatelaunch.de) and RLToday (www.rotlaus-software.de) for iLook buttons and functionality. These give me the freedom not to have to use the Cube and offers tons of functionality. psnap000.jpg is the Today screen, swipe to the left gives me psnap001.jpg (settings and such) and swipe to the right psnap002.jpg (calendar+)
This is very usefull...
Could you upload your Mortbutton's file?
Many thanks....

Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding, I was referring to MortButtons staying in RAM, not the Cube which would not be used anymore if you follow my steps.
To do this for MortButtons:
- Start "MortButtons Setup"
- Choose the "Extended" item from the menu
- Uncheck "Stay in memory"
This will prevent MortButtons from staying in RAM, for me this means only about 500kb difference so I mostly leave it in RAM. I only have 1 custom panel and the task manager, if you have more panels loaded then Mort may use more RAM. Check with a Task Manager (eg. the new Task Manager included with WM 6.1) that shows the individual processes and check for MortButtons.exe to see how much RAM MB is using.
Cheers

I'm not sure where the configurations for gestures and behaviour are stored so I cannot upload anything sorry. But here is how I've configured mine:
1/ Run MortButtons Setup
2/ Choose "Handling" from the menu, enable "Finger Gestures"
3/ Click "Configure Gestures"
3/1/ Here I set left to "Task list", right "Do nothing", Upwards "Do nothing" and Downwards to "Exit"
3/2/ Press OK and again to go back to the main menu
4/ Choose "Display"
4/1/ here I chose "GreyAquaWide" from the Skin dropdown, Entry Size "Big" and "User background" for Display Style pointing to a purely black background.jpg. Further I also checked "Hide menu bar". To max speed I set all transitions (Click "transitions" to enter this menu) to "No transition", you can even choose a cube transition effect here if you like.
4/2/ Press OK to go back to the main menu
5/ Choose "Task List"
5/1/ Here I removed "ActiveSync" from the list and unchecked "Close" and "Close all but current"
5/2/ Press OK to go back
6/ Choose Extended from the main menu
6/1/ Here I unchecked everything except "Stay in memory", speed was first priority for me.
6/2/ Press OK to go back
7/ Finally I built my contacts page, choose "Edit menus" from the main menu
7/1/ Choose MortButton1, select "Set entries" button
7/2/ Click Add
7/3/ Open the contacts folder and choose "Call Contact", press OK
7/4/ Choose your contact from you phone book, press OK
7/5/ Now either it picked up the contact photo from your phone book or you can assign it a different one by clicking Icon
7/6/ Press OK, then Close
8/ You are back in the main menu, Press Exit

There is so much more to explore, you can add multiple different items on one button page like contacts and applications together on one page. It is even possible to rotate the screen before launching an application! You can add buttons that link button pages together or use gestures to navigate.
I kept it simple - for now - with just a contacts page upon calling MortButtons when swiping up like I did for the Cube and a following swipe to the left brings up the integrated task manager. A swipe to the bottom and MortButtons dissappears again.
Cheers
sndance
Edit: MortButtons stores the display and handling configuration in the registry, HKCU\Software\Mort\MortButtons, so far MB does not support exporting these settings to a file.

Hi sndance,
Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression this could be done with the cube. It would be really awesome if it could be done though.
At present I am using PointUI, which i am highly impressed with, so i dont think i will be trying out your suggestions, sorry

Thanks for finding out ow to keep the cube from launching, at startup, first of all.
Haven't looked into MortButtons, as I'm using Ultimatelauncher exclusively so far, but if it's that customizable, I'll give it a shot.

Hey Coyote, if you want to stop the Cube completely, then use a registry editor and go into HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings and set the value of the "EnableCube" key to 0. If you also followed my steps above to delete Biotouch.exe from the LaunchStartupApp then you will have effectively terminated the Cube.
Setting this key basically tells the TouchFlo service (which also controls the finger-friendly scrolling I believe) not to launch Biotouch.exe when you swipe up, so this will also stop anything else you put in place for Biotouch.exe such as MortButtons in my guide above.
Btw. I use a combination of UltimateLaunch with 3 slideable panels and RLToday a bit like FocalDesign does in his today theme. Mort gives me the added functionality of a fully configurable Cube and - to me, most importantly - a finger friendly launcher and task manager of which I am sure there is no alternative, and it's free also!
Cheers

I have no experience with spb Mobile Shell, but you could edit the VJTarget.lnk contents to start any kind of application you want instead of the Cube when you swipe up. So if spb Mobile Shell could be started with a shortcut then I guess the answer is yet. Give it a try.

Dave,
Check with a task manager that shows individual processes if biotouch.exe is in there (memmaid or such). It seems like you have a Touch with WM version prior to 6.1? If you removed biotouch from Windows/Startup then after a fresh restart you should not see biotouch in the task manager processes. Mind you, even if biotouch is not started automatically, it will be loaded by the touchflo service the first time you swipe up to bring up the Cube.
Cheers

Thanks, man. I have cleared my LaunchStartupApp.lst so far, like you suggested, and I'm loving every free MB I won Now I wanted to set it up to launch PocketCM insted of the cube when I swipe up and kept rereading your first post on how to do this, until I read this reply. now I remember setting TFLOSettings to 0 weeks ago when I started to try to get rid of the cube. That clears it up, of course.

I see. I have a very similar setup. I'll definetly look into MortButtons, if only to see what it does, but I use only a small part of features of a WM phone, and I'm looking for ways to set these up for easiest use and smoothest execution. I'm perfectly fine to use things I rarely use through stylus operated menus.

Servus Ichbins,
The LaunchStartupApp.lst or StartupApp.lst in the Windows folder only apply to Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1. If you have an earlier version, then you should have a link to biotouch.exe in your Windows\Startup folder. Delete this to kill the Biotouch Cube, or edit the link (using GSFinder or on your desktop PC using notepad) and point it to MortButtons to replace it. I.e. put this in the biotouch.lnk instead:
41#"\Program Files\MortButtons\MBRunner.exe" "\Program Files\MortButtons\Button1.mbi"
If there is also not biotouch.lnk or similar in your Windows\Startup folder then I am out of ideas and maybe someone else can share a few words of advise? I am running WM6 and 6.1 for a while now and do not remember the HTC file structure of WM5 sorry.

Sundance

Hi Sndance (oder Sundance?)
Thanks for the ultrafast answer. A have Windows Mobile 6 Pro installed. Touchflow is Version 2.0 Build 29087. Searching for *.lst only gives me customize.lst, hopreject.lst and revoke.lst.
It seems there is no chance for me.

Finally I figured it out: Deleting the line “21#"\Windows\StartUPBioTouch.exe" in "StartUPBioTouch.lnk"
did it. Works like a charm.
Works like a charm.

Shadow_Sliding Panels Questions
Hi Ricky
This is exactly the functionality I am looking for. Need some help though with the installation. Although I am new to this I am technical and had no problems upgrading my Tornado WM5 to WM6 using Nitrogen's Tornado_WM6_Platinum...sp1.rar...
1/ CHomeHelp references StartMenu/Accessories/ThemeChanger. I could not find that.
2/ I followed the instructions but find that with both Shadow and SlidingPanels that I get the right colours and top and bottom horizontal bars but the middle area is blank. If I change the Home Screen to Wireless Windows every displays as it should.
Any suggestions?
By the way, this set up is my fall-back one. I would have loved to have used "illi_WM6.1_remade_by_rickwyatt_v2a.zip". My problem there though was I could not find the Bluetooth voice dial (add voice tag) command, and the InfraRed was dead even though the phone interface indicated it was on and functioning.
I would be happy with either a functioning Shadow_SlidingPanels OR your WM6.1 remake to support voice tag and IR.
Much appreciate any help you can give me. I think the work you and others on this thread do is amazing.

Managed to find time to try this.
It doesnt seem to work with my cooked WM6.1 ROM. My device freeze and require a reflash. I also tried with Blackdragon_860's Breeze release but the same happen.
1) Does it only work with your Neo ROM?
2) Does your Neo ROM support threaded sms?
Thanks Rick for all you help.
This crashed my phone and I also had to re-flash the rom.

Magnification and button assignment on HTC HD2

Hi everyone I'm new to XDA.
Have just purchased a HTC HD2 running spb Mobile Shell 3.5 and have downloaded a Zoom application as I have a severe vision impairment.
I have 2 questions.....
1. I was under the impression that MS had included a magnifier in WM6.5.3 but I cannot find it anywhere (or is it specific to particular applications).
2. I don't seem to able to assign the zoom function to any of the hardware buttons as the buttons don't seem to be configurable on the HD2. Is there a way I can work around this???
Thanks
Welcome to the forums!
In most of the Roms, the magnifier has been removed, because it was still not working right (much bugs)
To get the magnifier back, switch “HKLM/Software/HTC/TextSelection/EnableMagnifier” from 0 to 1
Let me know if you don't know what to do, then I'll make a cab for you.
As far as I know, there is no application out yet that lets you assign the buttons to a program.
Cheers,
EC
