Hello,
I have a MDA Wizard and have been trying to change the default location of the files transferred to the storage card with no success. I changed the BaseDir value in the registry, but it does not work. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
yea me too, im looking for a solution. changed BaseDir and even change the My Documents path to Storage Card. Nothing so far. anyone know?
New location for files received by bluetooth
I came accross this program in this forum somewhere. Really good. Give it a try.
Just run the cab file and soft reset. After that, run the program whenever you want to switch bluetooth on and it puts a bluetooth icon on the system tray. double click icon and go to settings and set the dir where you want to receive the file and you're ready to go.
I've tried getting a really big file too just to see if this merely moves the file to the other location after receiving or actually changes the location of incoming files and found out it changes the location.
Let me know if this works for you.

and Version 1.5 Coming Soon
Partial Success...
This is an old thread but I think is directly related to what I'm trying to do. I've seen many other threads trying to solve the same problem, so I won't create a new one. Anyway, first, here is the info:
AT&T 8525
HERM: 100
ROM: 3.62.502.3 (Offical AT&T)
Results:
Successfully transfered 2 test files from my laptop (XP SP2 Tosiba Bluetooth 4.00.22D) directly to my storage card:
AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe - 21,822,168 bytes
Tears of a Dragon.mp4 - 8,572,344 bytes
How:
Added a STRING value BaseDir to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\{000...} set to: "/Storage Card/"
Problem / Temporary Solution:
Using Resco I can see the file in the Storage Card as soon as the beam is over, however the OBEX prompts you if you want to save the file or not. If you click NO the file gets deleted. If you click YES, the file gets moved after two seconds to \My Documents or some files just go nowhere(?). So before I actually answer the prompt, I just copy the file elsewhere on my card and then click NO on the prompt.
Analysis / Conclusions (so far):
1. The official AT&T ROM does not have OBEX FTP service installed (obexfile.dll). It only has the OBEX Default Inbox service (obexinbx.dll).
2. The obexinbx.dll is not behaving as expected. Ex: Why "/Storage Card/" vs. "\Storage card\"; Adding the DWORD value DisableUI does not eliminate the prompts as it should; If I delete the TransportAuntheticate value in the same key, it just reappears, yet the dll is not supposed to use that value as per MSDN2.
Could somebody try to duplicate my results and/or see if there is a way to disable the prompts? Thanks in advance!
Has anyone tried this? Please?
Here are some screenshots to better explain what is happening:
1. Add BaseDir value to the OBEX key.
2. Send test file from my laptop.
3. PPC displays 1st UI prompt (recfileprompt.jpg)
4. Laptop displays progress indicator for file transfer. (progress.jpg)
5. When transfer is complete, PPC display 2nd UI prompt. (uiprompt.jpg)
6. I can confirm the test file did transfer to the SD card (fileinssdcard.jpg)
7. If I click on YES the file disappears (but some files get moved to \My Documents). If I Click NO the file disappears.
So... Is there a way to get rid of these prompts? Or to make them not move or delete the file once is in the SD Card?
Thanks,

Unfortunately, the contents of my HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\ are the folders Services and Transport. There is no {0000-0000...} folder there. It exists though in the folder Services, so for my device, it is HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OBEX\SERVICES\{0000...}. After adding the key, the temporary storage for the received file is ideed SD Card so I can grab it before responding to the prompt.
Nevertheless, either if I respond YES or NO for the file save prompt, the file is deleted from SD Card and does not reappear anywhere on the device, so it does not get moved, but deleted.
Notes:
For me it does not matter weather I write "/Storage Card/" or "\Storage Card\", it still receives to Storage Card, but regardless of what I choose, YES or NO, it deletes the file.

Exactly. This is the best I could get it to work, by just copying or moving the file to another SD Card location (or renaming it) before responding to the prompt. Anyway, this is kind of an old post. I had orginally done this since Dr. Yar crashed on my phone. Since then, I discovered HTC Bluetooth FTP Explorer 1.2, which adds an FTP tab to your Bluetooth Connections settings, where you can specify the default location for incoming bluetooth files.
Thanks for trying it out though!
PS,
I was trying to upload HTC Bluetooth cab, but there is a problem with the database. Anyway, I got it from VP3G's AddOn pack in the Hermes forum. A quick search should find it for you.

I don't know whether you are referring to this (which is inside my rom), but look at my settings. Even with these, Bluetooth still receives to Device and saves to Device\My Documents.

Yes. That's it. It works fine for me. Is your SD Card name "Storage Card"? I would also try using the browse button and selecting different folders inside the SD Card.

Just tried. Same thing!
Well. That is strange. I don't have a Trinity. I have a Hermes. What I would do at this point, is first, try installing the BT FTP cab over your existing one (backup first!). If that doesn't work, try removing/re-inserting the SD Card and also if possible another SD Card. Could there be a write access-protect restriction on your card that forces the OS to use the default My Documents location?
Anyway I have to go back now to my other life , but if I think of something else I'll let you know. Sorry you have problems
OBEX vs FTP
That bluetooth setting is only for FTP transfers. OBEX is the "native" transfer protocol that phones et al. use. Changing the setting for FTP received files doesn't alter the OBEX ones!
I'm going to try Dr Yar, but would love to find a registry setting for this!
I've just found this one as a cure, about to try it..

OK so THIS is a big step forward for the crazy flasher that lies in us.
Time saving, simple, perfect.
Very convenient to use (especially because I already have my CAB collection on my storage card in a folder named CAB...)
Thanks
Choice between Device and SD Card
Hello Bengalih,
is it possible that when i use the TierAutomatic Installer that i have the choise between the Telefon Memory or the Storage Card where the Programm has to be installed ?
I like to install the most of my Programms to the storage card to keep the Memory of the Phone free for the running Programms.
Or doesn´t this make sense ?

oooh great!
Awesome THANK YOU!
but 1 question/request
I have my cab directory sorted by different directories, is there a way to checkbox an entire directory? instead of adding each cab in config.sys?
i have directories like
\Storage Card\Games
\Storage Card\Tweaking
\Storage Card\System Tools
\Storage Card\Multimedia
etc. so it would be awesome to just check the entire directory to save overview
Awesome work dude - been looking for an installer like this that runs perfectly on non-UC compliant ROMs! This works flawlessly - thanks!!!!
Is it also possible to install the cabs on the storage card? i dont want my games on my device but on my storage card...

The Tiered Auto Installer works by using a built-in copy of Autorun. Since Autorun doesn't allow any user interaction, it is not possible to "choose" what location you want to install.
However, you can use a CAB editor tool to open up your .CAB, and change the default installation directory to "\Storage Card".
WinCE CAB Manager can do it with the trial version.
Thx for the answer

Yes you can do this...with a little elbow grease:
From the TAutoInstall page...
It will find all cab files referenced in the config.txt as well as those found in \Windows, \Storage Card\Boot, \Storage Card, \Extended_ROM, and \Extended_ROM2.
Click to collapse
Note that the config.txt should be located in the same directory as TAutoInstall, which in my package is \Windows. I have found that if TAutoInstall is installed in another location with a space in the name (e.g. \Storage Card or \Program Files) that it won't function properly).
In addition the following quote:
Note: The default search directories can be overridden by a command line.
TAutoinstall.exe "\SomePath\folder1" "\SomeOtherPath\Folder2"
You can have up to 10 search paths.
Click to collapse
In fact, this is the magic of how my packager is working. I have created a shortcut to run TAutoInstall with specific search directories, in this case \Storage Card\Cabs.
NOTE: When you specify directories on the command line it no longer checks the default directories listed above, but it will still check the config.txt file.
Unfortunately it doesn't check recursively, but you can have up to 10 paths. So, to do what you ask you will need to edit my .lnk file:
You need to open the .lnk file in a text editor.
You can copy the \Program Files\TAInstall\TAInstall.lnk to your PC via activesync.
Open it in WORDPAD, not NOTEPAD as it doesn't save them properly.
You will see my syntax:
47#"\Windows\TAutoinstall.exe" "Storage Card\Cabs"
Note the format, specifically the quotes and the number at the beginning. The number is the number of characters in the string minus anything before and including the #. So in the above link there are 50 characters minus 3 (47#). You can modify the shortcut for up to 10 paths, like so:
122#"\Windows\TAutoinstall.exe" "Storage Card\Cabs" "Storage Card\Cabs\Sub1" "Storage Card\Cabs\Sub2" "Storage Card\Cabs\Sub3"
Note that I updated the number to reflect the number of characters in the string minus 4 (122#).
I have not tested it with more than one path, but it should work. I also don't know if there are any limitations as to the maximum length of a shortcut, perhaps a developer would know.
Once you've edited it, copy TAInstall.lnk back to \Program Files\TAInstall\ and you should be good to go. If you have a problem, make sure that the shortcut is being save properly by your text editor. Remove everything you added and re-save and see if the .lnk file still works. If not, then you're text editor probably mangled it.
I would then make a backup copy of the lnk so you won't need to do it all over again.
simple 3-row Mortscript
another "solution" without UC could be a simple mortscript in the cab-directory:
It's not "unattended", but it will do the the job...and you can select the install directory....
ForEach CAB in files (Systempath("ScriptPath")&"\*.cab")
RunWait (%CAB%)
EndForEach

Peter, could you be a bit more step by step with that, maybe putting it into a code box?
I get it, I can read it, I don't know what a "mort-script" in the "cab-directory" would look like (text file?) and where exactly it would go.
Thanks for this thread, guys!

just create a text file on your desktop computer and save it with the .mscr file-extension.
then copy this file including the mortscript.exe to your "cab" directory on your mobile machine. that's it
the "cab directory" is just the directory where you save these two files and all your cabs....
but as i said - this script will just call all setups, all necessary informations are manually - it's just like you click each
cab file seperately in file explorer...
attached you'll find my installer (sorry, the language is in german (NO, i'm NOT german, i'm from South-Liechtenstein )
and it'll write a registry key how many times you've started this script....the first time there is no message, if you run this
script more than once, there is a counter and it will remind you how many times you've started this script... (yeah, i like such things....)
i like the fact that i absolutely know what this script is doing, i can easily choose between storage and memory and if i want to
cancel a setup it's no problem
edit: english script (including mortscript exe is uploaded...hope that helps)

UC is good, but there are so many differences between ROMs that you're always editing the text file and thus prone to making it error out. Not to mention, the Lock/Unlock BS.
I've been using Tier Autoinstall in my ROMs for awhile. Even have a cab for non-cooked installation that puts a shortcut in the same place you do?!? funny how great minds think alike . I'll update this post to put in the link to the wiki about it (once the wiki is back up).

Hey welcome back _Alex_, I thought you were movin' on.
Yes, I actually discovered the Tiered AutoInstall first in your ROM I believe. I know you have a stand-alone UC (which I link on the front page), but never saw a stand-alone Tiered from you.
Although I like the check-box effect to install cabs, the current version of Tiered AutoInstaller (and thus my stand-alone version) is a little too limited for all but automated installs.
If you guys like, please check out my new VIP+bengalih RAW AutoInstaller. Fully MortScript based with quite a few more features!
Hi all.
I want to make icons in the program folder for applications that aren't installed on the device, but run off of a memory card. For instance, I run putty from the memory card, as it is a standalone .exe file. It would be easier to go to programs and launch it from there, rather than go to a file explorer, direct it to the memory card, and then click on putty.exe. Just want to save myself some time really. I know it can be done because BackupPIM does it.
Thanks for any advice.
PS I tried searching first, but it was a fairly specific thing and so I couldn't see any results. If you find any, shame me for being a noob, and point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
you go to the exe file that you wan to place in the program menu... then copy it.... then go the program folder and paste it as short cut... I dont know whether this will helps you
Shortcuts are text files with a *.lnk extension that you can place in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. RESCO Explorer can do this for you (Send to Start Menu as Shortcut) or you can do it manually as explained in the WIKI. Hope this helps.

Here is a tutorial.
Thanks guys that worked absolutely perfectly, just copying the file and pasting the shortcut. It's funny to think that you know so much about Windows Mobile, and then realise you don't know something so simple as this!
This will make a huge difference in my day to day life. It may even mean that my partner can now use TomTom (any more than clicking three buttons and she is annoyed, lol). This question and answer section was a great idea by someone, don't know why it didn't happen sooner.
Cheers! Keep up the good work.
Thanks
You guys are REALLY helping us noobs out allot. This worked like a charm.
One day we might have the "smarts" to do the same for others
By the way, I suggest you create a cab (you can use WinCECabManager) to have the *.lnk installed in your device so that everytime you flash a rom or hard reset you can just intall it.. I create a cab for all programs running from the storage card. one cab and i have all the shortcuts i need in my programs menu
Dear nir36
Can you explain that how we can create a cab of shortcuts the programs stored in mem card
Best regards
Get Quickcab 2.0 (hacking forum). It's pretty self explanatory to use, but when you make the cab, make sure in the name field that you name it 'mycabname.cab'. If you don't put in the extension, it doesn't work (at least not for me, lol).
The easiest way to set up the cab is to put quickcab in your c: folder, then inside that folder copy your start menu from your device. Delete all the links in the start menu you don't need, then just send the individual folders with the links into the \windows\start menu\programs directory shown in quickcab. Select 'no uninstall' so the cab doesn't go into the installed programs list. Having the named folders on your pc makes things much faster. You don't have to create the directory for the cab, and everything's organized properly. Do not create an empty folder in the cab file-this will give you an error, and a stupid command window will open, leaving you very disappointed.

The only way I know is to move them into a different folder. If you REALLY don't want them to show up, you could zip them up and delete the originals. They's about as good as I can suggest I'm afraid. Either that, or stop taking pictures of your girlfriend/gentials lol.

Changing the file attributes doesn't help. The album apps still show them. This is one of the things that bugged me when I made my "Hide Folders" app. It became a little pointless when certain applications didn't care about the "hidden" attribute.
Hi there
I use a Software named "Secubox". With this, i can create a virtual storage card which I can mount and unmount if i need it.
Its also encryptet, so the data stored there is secure and you have no access, if you don't have the password...
Works nice on my HD2, the only solution for this kind of data ;-)
else: put your pictures in a subfolder in Program Files... Album will show them only if you browse there....
Tip with the Program folder does it for me ! thank you!

That works for the very front of the GUI, but if you click on albums, you get to see the folders with images in them. I believe the above suggestion of putting your images in a program files sub-folder stops that happening.
Also, if you were to use the pictures & videos app, you can browse the folders all over the phone, so it's still not 100%. I think the suggestion of a secure, encrypted area is the most secure of the lot.
Either that or take my previous advice, and stop taking c**k shots lol.
Hi, I wrote the following script for my TP2 which did the trick. You need to have Mortscript installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548841
Hide Photos
Not sure if this helps but what I do is :
I have on the SD card, a folder with all my data in called imaginatively Data.
In there I have Videos, Photos, Documents, and Hidden.
And pictures I don't want to be seen in Album, I put in the hidden folder.
Then in Total Commander :
Select the folder
Click File
Then >>>>>
Then Properties
This allows you to adjust the attributes.
Click Hidden, and click Recurse subdirs. (If you don't do the recurse, it will hide the folder but NOT the images within).
Then click OK.
Reverse the process when you want to get them back.
It's like 5 clicks to hide, and 5 to get them back.
No need to rename or anything, I found it works for me.
Hi,
create a new folder for private pictures and add to Album ignored list.
Example
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored]
"Maps from TomTom"="\\Storage Card\\Western*"
"TomTom"="\\Storage Card\\Navigator"
"Musik"="\\Storage Card\\Musik"
"MSMetaData"="\\Storage Card\\MSMetaData"
"Camera"="\\My Documents\\Templates"
"MMS"="\\My Documents\\UAContents"
[COLOR="Red"]"Private"="\\Storage Card\\Private Pictures"[/COLOR]
with friendly greet

yep
the upper post doesn't work, but no doubt the easiest way to do it is posted up by jaknife with recurse subfolders hide method
Another solution.. in the thread [REF]*Leo Hints & Tips*, at the tip no 64:
"64. Disable Unwanted Folders From Showing in HTC Album
Don't you find it annoying that HTC Album Shows lots of images you don't need to see when you select Albums like GPS poi icons? Now you can tell HTC Album to ignore certain folders.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE
Eg if there is iGO8 in the root of the Storage Card you would create a NEW STRING VALUE with Value name iGO8 and Value Data \Storage Card\iGO8
This will include all subfolders inside the iGO8 folder. Save and reset."
works only in HTC Album, not manila interface
Hi,
Thanks to starbase64 and traianboala , I have tried the ignore string key, and works fine in albums program of HTC, but the images still appear on manila Photos & Videos (that is on the manila interface) any solution or another ignore string / list for the manila interface?

I know you guys have some pictures and video`s that you don`t want to show to your friends.
So i made myself a cab file to hide these folders. Now i`m going to help you out with this one.
So if you have a folder you like to hide, just give me the location of that folder on your device or storage card and
i will make a cab file with your name on it. WWE only
Example:
\Storage Card\Private\Photos
\My Documents\My Pictures\Private
INSTALLATION:
- Install (duh)

So if you have a folder you like to hide, just give me the location of that folder and i will make a cab file with your name on it. WWE only
Example:
\Storage Card\Private\Photos
\My Documents\My Pictures\Private
Click to collapse

This is not a question from me, i know how it works I would like to help some people by making cab files for people that dont know how to do it.
Would be great if can set password to lock it from viewing,
so that you can view it anytime with prompt password.
