WMP doens't play next song when screen turned off. - General Topics

I open up WMP, go to the Library, Menu->Open File, and I select a music file from a directory full of music files. Normally if I leave it when it finishes playing the song it will move on to play another song in the same directory with shuffle.
However if I turn off the screen when it's in the middle of a song, it will continue playing the song but when it finishes it will not move on to another. It will only continue when I turn on the screen again.
Is this some weird default behavior, should it be happening? Can I override this?

There is a place where you can change hot key settings, there is a key setting for the screen. Hope that solves your problem.

Thanks! That worked.
One more thing though, I am using a 6.5ROM and Titanium has a lovely WMP plugin. I find it quite convenient to control the playing song from there - so is there a way to turn off the screen the same way when viewing the Today screen so that when I turn it on again I see Titanium?

The best I can come up with is use a hardware button to launch a "Screen Off" app. You should just be able to Bing or Google "Screen Off .cab" and find something free. Have you tried Locking then waiting for the screen to Time-Out? maybe the screen will just dim, my guess.

Thats what I do with Sat Nav, works a treat. No point having the screen on when its in my pocket (im on a motorbike using handsfree to listen to instructions).

Nifty, I guess locking then waiting for the screen to time out is good enough for me. No sense in getting some extra program and binding it to another key.
Thanks

in standby I mean.
i know there's a blank screen function in coreplayer but it's drianing all o my battery and it's difficult to select every time.
Well, if its in standby.. that means the CPU activity will be minimised or completely inactive. When the screen is off, thats a completely different story because the CPU can play the music. So, if your battery is draining too fast you should consider buying an extended battery or using a less power hungry media player.

So how can I turn the screen off
I dont mean the blank screen function
Is there another way?
Use the xda-devs search and try to find a lockscreen or toggle screen app and you'll need to use the key mapper to bind a key function to run that app.. im not sure how well it may work since coreplayers inbuilt screen off function doesnt seem to effective. you may want to try a different media player like pocket player, nitrogen or S2P

Would you mind if you suggest one?
But I have another question
When you press the power button coreplayer stop working but manilla of some other apps don't
So is there anyway to make cpu threat with coreplayer just like the others?or even the playe of manilla?
I dont have this problem and i think its due to installing SRS WOW HD version 1.5.1.0.
It gives more options for sound quality and imo sounds a lot better than the stock that comes with the TD2. Plus by the looks of it, it seems to put it into that so called "whitelist" as i had the problem with stock 6.5 rom and then one day the problem just fixed itself. It seemed to match the time when i installed on SRS WOW HD but i didnt wana uninstall and reinstall to check.. Can anyone confirm this?
If this is the case i have a version for it that works perfectly on my TD2 and can send it to u to try
Something ridicules happened to me
When I started coreplayer and pressed the power button it stopeed playing but after 5 seconds a msg arrived and played a tick sound(msg notification) then coreplayer started to play!!!!!
Can anyone plz explain this?
Thats because when the sms came it must've come out of the standby mode even if the screen stayed off and hence the music started playing

[REQ] Access music player from lock screen

Im not sure if something like this is possible and I have looked and cant see anything.
Would it be possible to create an application that when you double clicked or long pressed say the home button when your screen is locked it would bring up your audio player so you could skip tracks etc. Much like the function available on the iphone when its screen is locked. It gets tiresome unlocking my screen and scrolling to the music tab just to change a track... lazy I know!
Cheers!
S2U2 and S2P should give you the funcitonality you are looking for
The website is s2u2.ac-s2.com
I dont know about the OP but im not a fan of s2u2 and would like to know if there are any lock screen mods that allow access to the music player.
Ditto. s2u2 is great and does the job. But I just got rid of my iPhone, I dont want to stare at that lock screen again lol

Htc leo music player lockscreen - request

I've been looking around on the forum and googling for a while for an application like this. But would anyone mind creating an application where when we lock the phone we can still change the music and shows what song is playing. I get tired of unlocking my phone just to change my music.
Much gratitude!

Hi mykewillz48,
I agree with shu8i. Use Co0kie's Home Tab v1.8.5 .
It will do what you want perfectly and is probably the best app available.
i'm ok with DINIK, Cookie home tab 1.8.5 is excellent ! and you can listening your music in lockscreen. but you can't change album or (my selection) when you are in lockscreen, play, stop, next ect... it' ok
Yip, Cookie all the way!! Its ace changing music on lock screen
I really don't want to flash my HD2 i'm not very good with things like that. If there isn't just a cab file to do it, I probably would just deal with it. I like how my phone is besides a few things. Maybe in the future I would want to flash it but right now I like mos things about my phone.
CHT is just a cab you install. Preferably make a backup of your phone, just in case because you never know. After installing CHT you just restart the phone and can customize everything. You should install CHTEditor of course!
btw is anybody expierencing the fact that, if you put the music player on the lock screen, sometimes when you unlock the phone it seems like it has played a few tracks on it's own? Sometimes I see that I'm 3 or 4 tracks ahead in the middle of another track without actually doing that. somebody else who had that?
Yeah Cookie Lock is awesome, I missed that option from Android with Sense. You can adjust the size of the player and everything
Is there an application that will allow music player on the lock screen and will also allow for a passcode?

I would kill for a good program that does this... cookies always crashes on me and either unlocks when it shouldn't or wont unlock when it should, or just gives me a sleep of death and becomes unresponsive... it's annoying because it looks awesome and I want to use it...
(tab hangup and answer a few times whilst the phone is locked and you can make a call to the first person on your recent call lists without touching the slider onscreen to unlock... which was happening to me in my pocket, also occasionally I would hit the hangup key to unlock it and the home screen would just appear, not even trying to lock the screen )
S2U2 does it if you have S2P installed but I find S2U2 blows through my battery really fast for some reason... and my system regularly becomes unresponsive.

search for the "keep music playing.cab" fix for it. soft reset after install. i used it on my tp2 and you would be able to hit the sleep button and still listen to music. on the hd2, you just have to let the screen sleep itself.

i know what your talking about now. it has happened to me many times before. i had to reinstall about 3x for it to work right.
Have you tried manually locking the screen first ie start ,
lock coreplayer should continue to play
Hi. Find a little app called "Screen off", install it and then - move the icon on a top. When You want to switch off screen (during listening to the music) - tap left top corner of the screen and next - tap the "Screen off" icon. That's all.

TNX il try all that
you can also try third party lockscreens that allow applications to run while screen is off, like s2u2 and pocketshield.
I was try s2u2 but I don't like it I solved problem by instaling tcpmp
That's true, I cancelled my S2U2 after 1 month of using. I've had too many problems with this application. The best one for me is CHT lockscreen. Simply the best! If You have CHT on a board - means You have CHT lockscreen as well. So why dont to use it? Save ROM memory and enjoy nice design.
Do you think that CHT lockscreen will help me to solve problem wwith core player see post #1

Turns screen off, podcast quits

Topic pretty much tells my problem. Even though I have made sure that battery optimization is off, any podcast I play will stops when the screen goes off.
I've tried 3 different apps.
Any suggestions?
Try This
Had same problem. Try going to Settings/Other/Close Apps After Screen lock and ensure whatever podcast app(s) you're using are not selected to close when screen locked. Also when podcast is playing, hit recent/overview apps button on nav bar. There will be a padlock icon on upper-right of card of podcast app. Make sure it looks like a locked padlock instead of an unlocked one by pressing it until it looks locked.
Even with above fixes I still get shutoffs when using navigation and playing podcast at same time, i.e., when I turn navigation off, podcast will turn off when screen locks. I simply wake screen and start playing podcast again, and then no more shutoffs (until I use navi again as described).

Thanks for the suggestion. But that is the setting I was referring to by saying 'Battery optimization' setting done. The actual menu path to that is Settings/Battery/Close Apps After Screenlock. Another interesting thing: I do NOT see an Other option in Settings. BUT...when I search for Close, it then shows up as a category of Other, which then when I click on it it takes me to the Battery area, and then I can click on Close Apps AFter screenlock.
Anyway I do have to set correct.
But, I just now checked, and the padlock you refer to is unlocked. So I just changed that. I have not noticed that before, and have no idea what it really means. I presume it means to not close it. ... Just clicked on the trash can in the nav bar, and it did NOT close the app. I bet I'm good to go now.
I'll report back on my success with that.
Like you I see improvements, but not a fix.
I am constantly having issues like this (by like this I mean things that should just work) on my Android phones. Never had one that didn't have some type of frustration.
Makes me wonder if it's any battery on an Apple. I'd hate to lose the flexibility. But I read an article recently that says IOS statistically had more failures than Android. I have no idea if that's true.
Trying to figure this out with my s22
