i was just curious as to whether certain programs that im using for my touch pro 1 will work with the touch pro 2.
htorch, mortscript(used for random ringtones),s2u2,.net configuration tool, barcorama, cab xpress, clear temp, diamond tf3d configuration tool, diamond tv,diamond tweak (and if this will not work will sum1 please recommend a similar program designed for the vzw tp2),go news touch, microsoft live search, pandora (the version i have right now doesnt display properly so if theres a more appropriate one please recommend),personalizer(changes carrier name),ppcgeeks mobile(gotta have this),and the mobile youtube app. also, if anyone knows of any other useful apps that will definitely work for the touch pro 2 id love to give them a try...
the only other question i have regards the gps in the vzw tp2...my question is, is i download google maps (or anything that uses gps) will it automatically work or is the sumthing like the "bored" fix that ill have to do...id love to be able to use gps but i tried bored's fix on my touch pro 1 and couldnt get it to work...
any other recommendations pertaining to the tp2 would be greatly appreciated

Google maps worked automatically. It's been raining here, and I didn't want to stand out in the rain waiting for it to get a sattelite lock so I used QuickGPS. After it downloaded data, GMaps found the sats in less than 10 seconds and found my location very accurately.

I'm not sure. It was raining Saturday when the phone was delivered. I stood outside for a minute, and it hadn't found a GPS lock yet. Once I used QuickGPS it locked on in a few seconds. I haven't used the GPS since then since my battery was draining fast enough from just normal use.
I got a lock right away with Google Maps with no third party priming software. I just had to set Google Maps manually to com4, baud rate 4800 and then enable GPS all the time instead of just with 911 and it locked on in about 3 seconds. Gonna test Garmin & Tomtom this afternoon to see if it needs the same manual setup.
the verizon tp2 has an app call quickgps that downloads updates to the gps...after i downloaded, ive been geting up to 15 satellites and instant locks....highly recommend this to anyone before changing any settings

my previous phone(vogue on verizon) had the gps locked so i never had this program. i was (at best) getting 5-6 satellites. after i updated my tp2 with this htc app i get around 12 which was a total shocker. i'm just so happy with this phone, now just waiting for some rom development to rise from the dead...lol

Yes, I too had an original HTC TPwith a lot of the same programs. Will they run on the TP2? I think the htorch may not as the TP2 doesn't have a flash for the camera.
Thanks - K
Maps and S2U2
Google Maps worked fine for me today with the GPS ( did use the QuickGPS first, very simple though). Found up to 10 Satellites that I noticed. Just loaded S2U2 1.62 QVGA and it loaded fine. Seems to work after the reboot. Looks like the sizing may be a little off though.

htorch won't do anything since TP2 doesn't have flash
s2u2 works
I use cleanRAM instead of clear temp
don't use diamond tf3d config
I use HD Tweak instead of Diamond Tweak since it's a bigger screen
Youtube should come stock on the verizon version
GPS is already unlocked and VZW version i think came stock with Bing but I may have installed it seperately
I currently have on my VZW Touch Pro2:
Bing
ContactFix
Display Switch
G-Alarm
HD Tweak
MP3 Trimmer
Pocket Uno (;
S2U2
Total Commander
cleanRAM
psShutXP
and I can confirm all these work

I'm considering switching to the HTC ROM sooner rather than later (to avoid having to reinstall everything I'm about to install/sync...)
As I see it the reasons to switch to the HTC ROM are:
Less bloat
Less "demoware" bloat
Is WorldCard Mobile in the ROM or on a seperate CD?
Less "pay AT&T more money to use this feature" bloat
Less bloat
Much nicer theme and home screen
Reasons not to switch:
Built-in IM client of the Tilt (How does it compare to IM+? If it's worse I'd be installing IM+ anyway...)
Anything else??? Is there anything the AT&T ROM has that the HTC rom does not that I'm not aware of?
The IM client is OZ communications - not bad. I believe the files you need are visibile in the \windows directory. I think the two you want are:
C_OZPocketPC
OZIM_HomePlug_20Jul07
I'm guessing these are AT&T specific so likely not to work on other carriers.
that aim client is available here...
eric b
not sure if it's just a demo or not but Sprite Backup is on the ATT ROM.
If you don't count Ms PacMan, that's pretty much the only useful difference that I saw.
So far no reason to stay. Good, since I now have the HTC rom going through the customization procedure since there was basically no feedback indicating I should stay.
Edit: WorldCard Mobile is in the ROM!
HTC ROM!
its faster, more memory, more everything, except junk!
I'm running the HTC ROM on my 8925 and am considering switching back.
HTC benefits
- Business card scanner
- less bloat
- remap PTT button (can be done on ATT with regedit)
- HTC Today plugin (can be installed on ATT anyway)
- No embarrassing WHOOSH on startup
- TouchFlo!!!
ATT advantages
- more games (i think, unless those are demos that came with it)
- No GPS 'bootstrap' required. I found that with ATT ROM, I could
run any GPS app and it worked. With the HTC ROM, I had to first
run GPSViewer to initialize the GPS before any other app would work.
If I didn't do that first, GoogleMaps would report no GPS hardware detected.
This is why I'm considering switching back to ATT. AFAIK, nobody else
has reported this so perhaps it's just my unit.
Really the ONLY big thing I liked about the HTC was the business card scanner application. OH!! I forgot TouchFlo on the HTC ROM. That's pretty killer as well.
Sorry if it sounds n00bish since it's been a while since my last HTC device, and I'm planning on picking up a Tilt shortly...
Are the customizations hardwired in ROM or the Extended ROM that we used to modify and customize with our own CABs? I'm thinking if it's the latter, we'd just pull out files from both to build our own setup of what we like.

I don't have to do that...
Google Maps will load the GPS, but it will usually timeout the first time while it is acquiring a lock. Hit retry and then you should get a lock fast.
I'm actually getting better success and faster locks with the HTC ROM than with the Tilt ROM...

Tilt with TouchFLO or not?
There seems to be a big discrepancy with people that have the Tilt saying that they do not think they have the TouchFLO feature. Is there a difference between the HTC ROM and ATT Tilt ROM for TOuchFLO? Anyone have experience with both?

No cube on the HTC either, so it sounds like it's the same. There is a flash based cube one can install, but it slows down the phone too much.

I don't know how many people out there use IGuidance, but I do. I LOVE IT. The only problem is I just paid for the new version of IGuidance ( V4.0 ) and am experiancing a lot of problems. First off, the biggest problem is how SLOW it is. I can start it up fine, and get a fix no problem. The SLOWNESS comes when i start driving. It just freezes up, until i come to a stop and then 5 seconds later it will update with the spot and tell me what to do from there.
My old IGuidance V3.04 would show me driving, give me my speed, and give me up-to-date information on when i would need to be turning.
Now, I thought it was my bluetooth slowing it down; cause i use my bluetooth to listen to the voice prompts, but turning that off did nothing for me. STILL SLOW.
I don't know if anyone else is experiancing this. Is this just a dutty 6.1 RTM problem or is this a IGuidance V4 problem? I hope its just the RTM, because I PAID FOR THE IGuidance! Please help me.
Wow, soo no-one knows the fix for this? Anyone tried IGuidance V4 on an earlier build?
i just finished installing iGuidance V4 on my phone (which has Dutty's 6.1), and am going to be using it tonight. I will post my results on how well it is working etc... when i get a chance. Which radio version are you using. Changing radios may help the problem...
it seems as though a lot of people use TomTom so maybe that's why you aren't getting very much response...
i did use iGuidance V4 on an earlier version of Dutty's WM6. It worked perfectly. Although a lot of people have reported problems with GPS and WM6.1
check out this threat first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368373&highlight=iguidance
I have iGuidance 4.0. I had the exact problem with other ROMs, but not with Dutty's 6.1 (5.2.19199).
My radio: 16.54.06.04
If you have S2A, disable that program. Lastly, set your Power and don't let it goes to suspend or turn if the device if not used in X minute.
If that doesn't work, try a different ROM. if it doesn't work, I am out of idea. Sorry...
It's the 6.1 rom, I had this with Sleuths 6.1 rom as well, stepped back to a 6.0 rom and iG4 works great.
I'm gonig to try this on Dutty's new 6.1 hopefully it will fix things.
Off Topic and I apologize, but this weekend I was about to drop $150 to buy tomtom, ditching Telenav which ATT gave me. But I noticed iGuidance is $109; Which would you prefer, TomTom or iGuidance? I've tried Google Maps and Windows Live, they can be used under certain circumstances, but I need something similar, or preferably, better than Telenav which I'm used to using currently.
Also, did you see this on their website?
"*** Note: v4 has conflict w/ ATT 8925 gprs. Need to turn gprs off until iGuidance is launched."
Iguidance has TTS. The poi searching is disappointing at best.

that has actually ALWAYS been a problem even with the 8525. But, alas, it doesn't help us at all with our 8925. Has anyone tried using dutty's new release as of the 20th? I'm installing now and will give feedback.

iNav is quite good, even with the minor bug of having to stop any active data connection before starting. For your $109 you get the PPC, Plus PC, Plus UMPC versions of the program on the DVD which is nice if you play with laptops or tablets. The TTS street names is nice and the general product is well above average. I own 5 nav progs tom tom included, and prefer iG4 personally.
As one of Dutty's beta testers, I can verify that if you follow the directions I link to in the thread below that iGuidance will work properly. Again, this is not related to Dutty's rom, but rather 6.1 in general.

Seems Telenav has TTS, and Points of Interest, etc. and checks for traffic and doesn't have a problem starting up with the net connection active, actually its required; so the only REAL issue with TeleNav is its dependency on the Internet? I like that IG4 includes SW for the Laptop as well, that would be kewl. Points of Interest doesn't concern me too much. Oh well, sorry to stay off topic. But I was just trying to figure out where to spend my hard earned money. I'm just wondering why I should leave TeleNav, but I guess the internet thing is a big deal.
use GPSgate
I have iguidance v4 for a few months. yes, i have very similar problem and the workaround is to use GPSgate. you have to google for it. Download the trial version and launch gpsgate prior iguidance. it should fix your problem.
I love my iGuidance V4... The POI in my area are perfect. Took me a bit of time switching from Garmin to iNav... but anyways... The only 6.1 Rom that I've had no problems at all with iGuidance is "The end is nigh DeathV2" w/ Radio 1.65.20.29
I used Joe1981AL method and it works. No need for GPS gate. Just run mr_magoo script.

Does anybody know if the PPC version of TomTom 7 will goes out ?

Also read that HTC will deliver this with the Diamond.
Thx in advance for your feedback.

According to Tomtom, the availability of version 7 is unknow.
However, some people have ripped the HTC Diamond version which is illegal and no new maps are available that works with the ripped version although some people claims that the maps of release 6.75 works but they are out off date. Conclusion: May be that you can get an illegal version of Tomtom 7, but it will not support the latest maps.
Therefore, if you want navigation with the latest maps consider to use IGO8.

No you cant. But why do you want to keep version 6? Version 7 works better, works with newer maps... why keep with the old stuff?
I have TT6 running WE 6.75 and use a lot, so am more than interested in upgrading.
3 Qs
1. What are the new features of TT7? Is it worth it? Is it really faster? One feature I would really like in particular: does TT7 have the ability to give a voice warning of being over the speed limit?
2. Do we ever expect TT to release this formally for PDAs?
3. Do you also need to update TomTom Home to 2.x? (TT6 only worked with TT Home 1.x).
Thanks
Q1: you can give a sound to warning over speed so i guess a voice too.
Q2&Q3 dont know

Hi,
I have it running on the poor mans Polaris (Artemis) and it works just as well as TT6.
1. The new features I have noticed are
i You can now disable auto zoom, so you can set a zoom level you like and it won't change.
ii You can set a warning both for going over the speed limit or for a speed defined by you.
iii You can change the pointer to your car of choice.
iv It displays the road you are on as well as the next road when following a route.
v the speed warning is now red background with white text so is easier to read (was red on blue before).
vi Has access to MapShare (I can't get this to work as I have it installed purely on my SD card but other forum users report it works).
2. No idea.
3. You need to use TT Home ver 2.3
Overall it is not a major improvement on TT6 but there are a few bits. Due to the size of its installation (over 12mb) I can't fit it on my device storage but it runs fine on the SD card. However, this does prevent it from connecting to TT Home. However, I intend to change my Artemis for a MDA Compact IV or an Orbit 2 so that problem should be easy to fix.
Regards
Thanks spangelsaregreat and le poulpe for replies.
As I use mine in my pocket via earplugs on my motorbike, and hence never look at the screen (and hence my interest in voice/audio features) it doesn't look like there is much more in TT7, except of course the speed warning.
just tested tomtom v7.450.9028 on my polaris with tt7.20 and tt7.15 maps. it works great and even faster then tomtom6
These are a few non-working apps I discovered when trying to customise my TD2 on day one.
1) HTC's gprs monitor refuses to install.
2) Core player exits on installation complaining about a "problem". - NOW FIXED
3) I already mentioned Tomtom6 on another thread.
Anyone found any others?

As I've seen coreplayer showing video on the Diamond2 in one of the reviews I'd say that something has gone wrong during your customisation.
Core player 1.3 work perfectly on my Diamond 2 !!!!
A problem has occurred with player.exe
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
That's what happens when I run the program. It installs and appears in the program list but just won't run. I can't tell you what version it was either.
Maybe I should try a different version.
After a hard reset and direct install onto the device from a cab file I can now confirm that Coreplayer 1.3 does work very well on the D2. I have amended my original post. Thanks.

There is a new updated version of Co-Pilot specifically for the Diamond2, phone technical support on 0871 6412 540 (in the UK) and ask them for the download link, I did and my Co-Pilot is working ok.
If you try and load the D1 version you wont see many of the graphics on the screen, to get round this you can try using a non HTC old version and use the cab file from that, you should be able to find one floating around somewhere. The graphics are still not correct using the old generic cab but its usable.
Thanks for the reply and I did contact them and was given a link to the Diamond 2 program and it works ok.

Can you let me know what that version is? Im running 7.7.0.134 (full version with SD card etc, not Diamond version - which I think is the same but just comes without SD card and CoPilot Central PC app) but thats been the "latest" for nearly a year. Does this "new" version support the 480x800 resolution correctly.
It runs fine, just that the onscreen keys etc appear squashed.
Be grateful if you could let me know.

How does this compare feature-wise to the TomTom mentioned in other threads for the TD2?
Co-Pilot
The version I am running is 7.8.0.162 Data NAVTEQ.EU 07Q3. v7.1.13.1.5, my understanding is that it has a higher screen resolution than the old Diamond 1 version, the menu system is a bit different. I think this version new will also run on the Touch HD.
I was told by Co-Pilot technical support that version 8 is on the horizon and will be out later this year.

In my opinion Co-Pilot is the better choice, for example you can specify the sort of road preferences you would normally drive on for each sort of road and enter the average speed you drive at to create a user profile that is normally quite accurate, there is a better zooming facility on Co P and I usually drive with the screen zoomed out so i can see all the small roads and villages around my route.
I got my D2 one month ago but, till now, it has been not possible to install any navigator. I tried copilot live, coming in bundle with the phone, then I tried Navigon in demo version (30 days), but no one worked. I don't get any error message, simply, after the installation, the program doesn't start and freezes the phone. I tried to do a hard reset and I reinstalled it, with no other programs than the default ones, with the same, bad results. Can someone help me?
IGO and Mobile XT can run on my topaz with WM 6.1 and WM 6.5(Tom Topaz ROM)
iGo 8 and TomTom 7 work just fine and are probably the best navigation software at the moment...
Im running TT7 and Mobile XT works like a charm
using NDrive...and works very well
TomTom, iGO8 and iGO amigo
See my signature. all 3 working fine, TT is a little bit stretched out because of the WVGA screen but works fine.
iGO 8.3.x Fatal Error - Exception: 0xc0000094 At address: 0x03fad178
Hi all,
Meanwhile I've tested some different iGO 8.3.x builds (83157/87762/91972/92992) which all use to crash (sooner or later) with the same error message (as mentioned above).
This happens sometimes every 5 minutes or it doesn't happen for a couple of days (with trips not longer than around 30 minutes).
At one day for instance I had 4 crashes on my way to a customer (around 240 km) and "only" one on my way back (and this one after 10 minutes of travelling and then no crash for two hours).
I've tried different skins (or the default one) as well as different settings concerning the terrain details.
Sometimes it seemed to me to happen quite offen when I was receiving a call. But today I was navigating for two hours and received many calls without any crashes.
I would be very thankful for every helpful hint. Probably somebody of you could tell me about a iGO package (build/data.zip/branding.zip/skin/sys.txt) that is working ok with a TD2.
By the way: I'm using TMC with a GNS TrafficBoxplus FM9BT-Y.
AutoMapa
Navigation system AutoMapa Europa XL 5.5 works very good on Topaz. It is best like igo8 .
TomTom and TD2 no GPS

COM 4 and baud 4800.
Hi
I have managed to install at the same time IGO 8, TomTOM, Garmin mobile XT and Sygic, all working OK
Maurolon
Navigator for Topaz
I have been using TT7(v.7.915.9196) and iGo8(v.8.3.2.71348) from my Diamond, Blackstone and my Topaz but i find Copilot 7 more compatible with this device, no lag and small memory footprint.

I had a lot of trouble with Copilot: the trial version didn't make a difference in types of roads. It sends me through sandroads and living-areas where it doesn't need to. I prefer Tomtom but the lag problem gave me troubles also (tt giving wrong speeds, stopping to work and needing a restart, wrong positioning).
I now use Igo8 and that's the 1 that works fine for me! (but al small lag also).
I use Destinator 7 and it works fine.

Haven't you forgotten something? As far as I know, TT doesn't work in the official version which is offered by TT on their website e.g. on microSD.
This means one has to rely on a cracked version to make it run on D2 or its T-Mobile clone.
Or has TT lastly presented a legal version to be run on Topaz?
I'm struggling with this too and I think I will have to use hacked maps until it's officially supported. Reason being is I am not being given an activation code as I downloaded directly to my TD1 using the officially supported software
What TT7 version and maps are you guys using? PM links please?
Navigon works fine
I've got Navigon MN7.4.2 build 802 with Q2-Europe maps running fine on it. Only mistake it has is, that road signs with lots of names on not fit perfect. Means the names not all fit on the sign, but this doesn't matter for me ^^
I'm running Garmin Mobile XT (v5.00.20) with no problems . Speech works fine, but yet to try it via bluetooth.
I have installed on my TD2 TomTom 7.915 and Copilot
Live 7. Both work on the device but for me Copilot is more compatible with TD2.
I have used destinator 8,miomap,polnav,garmingoogle mapsmapmy india and garmin all working gr8
