Run Hero apps on CM MyTouch? - G1 Android Development

I tried a Hero ROM on my MyTouch, but the slowness is annoying.
So: is it possible to install just some of the apps I like from the Hero ROM onto a Cyanogen-flashed MyTouch?
Like People, BizCardReader, Albums, Music, Peep, etc?
Can I just copy the apk's? Install or push them into the CM ROM?
That would be cool...

im guessing you could.....as long as none of the apk's have code that calls for heros framework

wussup dog
naw man naw -- gots ta have da frameworkz
well...ttyl
P.S. questions go in the Q&A section

HTC Music works on cupcake, but not everything does. I know not everything works. But have you tried the NEW hero roms? They're fast as hell.

Wrong forum, this has nothing to do with development.

App dev

Hey guys,
i browse the forum an awful lot and have a rooted nexus one running cm6. i have the android sdk, and photoshop cs3. im thinking about developing rom themes and applications, however, ill be blunt about this. i have no idea where to start with either. anybody have any useful hints & tips for this at all?
This should be in the q/a section.
"developing rom themes and applications" Those are two very different things.

[Q] Widgets... Im Confused.

Let me say first, I'm new to Android.
I picked up a used AT&T Inspire yesterday and rooted it last night. First thing I did was delete all of the crap. I soon notices some widgets that had the same app name as a few others, ie. Contacts, Contacts widget. Why do I have two contacts as I do with a few others? Can I safely delete the widgets that have a duplicate apps?
mabye they are just diffent sized widgets?
I thought I had an idea but I didn't. Add both to the screen and see what they do - one might be a call contact and the other message contact.
Before you spend too much time on this you might look into a custom ROM which would re-write the whole list and get rid of a lot of that stuff for you. Inspire should have plenty o' roms.
Different size? Not sure what that means.
I'm finding these widgets via Super Manager, and not my apps collection. In other words I have Contacts, but not Contacts widget in my apps list. Contacts widget, and others, only shows up in my Super Manager apps list.
Like I said, I'm very new to Android, but definably will be loading up one of the tasty spreads that the XDA chiefs are cooking up.
The contacts link in your app list is just a shortcut to the contacts app, but the widget is an active widget for your home screen that will have different functionality, so you can access things directly, rather than having to run the app. Just drop a couple of widgets on your home screen and have a play with them. They won't bite
Archer.
Like I said, Im new, but Im learning. Didn't know app list were short cuts. I will throw a few into the list and see what happens.
One more thing. There are apps on the phones desktop, and in the apps holder. Are you saying all are short cuts?
Thanks for the help.

Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.

Basically.
The app drawer is more like the "desktop" in iOS in that EVERYTHING you install that has a launcher will be there. On the desktop you can place a collection of shortcuts and widgets that suit you workflow/ preference.

I apologize. I saw what I have done but could not figure out how to move it to the Q&A.

I understand, but what about the "all apps" location, drawer, or what ever its called. Those are not short cuts... Are they? For instance I want to delete "Latitude." Its in the "all apps," but not seen in Super manager (root.) Also, I must have five apps with the word weather in Super Manager, but only one in the "all apps."
I seem to have more junk than my girl friends AT&T Samy Infuse, Froyo. I rooted that phone and had no issues clearing or understanding anything. Maybe its widgets. I dont remember dealing with widgets on her Infuse.
Thanks for bearing with me. I know this seems trivial, but its helping me greatly.
You are beginning to see the biggest drawback or greatest strength of HTC Sense. Some widgets are available in more than one layout. This makes Sense more customizable, but also quite a drain on resources. Deleting some Sense components can cause serious issues. As suggested, a custom rom will have bloat removed. The definition of bloat varies from one Dev to the next, so YMMV. In general, AOSP roms have less extras, allowing you to customize them to suit your own needs. The Dev section has many fine choices. First post of each thread usually will give a description of what to expect. Try a few, or a lot, who knows, you may enjoy that more than trying to figure out HTC rom structure.
Don't know where that came from. Moving on.
Disclaimer: This is not advice. It is just something that fell from between my ears.
Great advice. AOSP ROMS are perfect for me. I don't want the dog and pony show. Just basics for my business.
